LX - like 4 way disc brakes, traction control, privacy glass, spare tire stowage
CE - like split rear seat (big advantage for us w. 3 kids!!), better gas mileage (BIG plus on long trips - an extra 40 miles between stops), comes w/ CD player
We went w/ the Sienna, even though we have to wait (and this could be significant). We got an 850 over invoice deal (northeast CT). Read back through these postings (I read HUNDREDS). You are closer to TX - supposedly David McDavid (sp?) in Houston (Dallas??) did and 850 over invoice deal also, which I used as the base for my deal. I got it after emailing a number of area dealers. Most just laughed it off. If timing is an issue for you, go w/ the Ody (the BEST deal we could get for the Ody was 22760 with destination fee included - NOBODY would/could go lower). At that price, we chose the Sienna CE for a little over $1000 less. We will get the windows tinted from another party.
A big unknown is the quality/durability of the Ody transmission. 99-01 trannys were a nightmare. At least one person also mentioned an 02 w/ tranny problems (it was a new tranny for 02). This is an EXCEEDINGLY expensive problem ($6000 to fix). We keep our vehicles until:
1. they don't run anymore (and aren't worth fixin').
2. we just outgrow them (we are replacing a 93 volvo 240 wagon for that reason).

steve84 - Any links to confirm the end of the production halt? That's really a good news.
According to Automotive news and a Sienna enthusiast site that carries this information, there was no reported production the week of 7/13-7/20. In all other weeks since May, production has been from 2600 to 3200 vehicles per week, with @3100 vehicles being the norm and nearly 3400 being the maximum.
This should annualize to a production of about 150-160000 vehicles per year.
Added info has been posted to that other site from a Toyota dealer document:
Vehicles involved in the SSC number approximately 33000 are early to mid 2004 models with a vin range of:
"BA22C S000023-S004413
BA23C S000020-S004414
ZA22C S000020-S040937
ZA23C S000038-S040939
Not all vehicles in the Vin range are involved. As always consult daily TIS to confirm elegibility and to assure the SSC is applicable."
Toyota is also looking for extremely high levels of service from the dealers, which may include rental cars, washing and a full tank of gas.
One of the more indicative lines in the bulletin is: "Many (customers) utilize this vehicle to transport their most prized assets, their family members."

I am wondering about opinions on the "relative value" of an '04 Sienna v. '02 Oddy. I am looking at the Sienna LE with package 6 to get some of the same safety features that the Oddy already has (traction control and front side air bags). The Sienna will cost approximately $28,000. A used '02 Oddy with most of the same features and 20,000 miles will cost about $23,000.
I plan to keep the van for 5-7 years. My priorities are safety and reliability. Is the new Sienna really worth $5,000 more than a used Oddy??
Is this true that Toyota is no longer accepting custom orders?
Yes, you can order an XLE with just a moonroof. Your region of the country may not order them that way - but it can be done.
You want the "CU" package (XLE package #2)
Maybe it's just the salesperson that doesn't understand - ask to speak with a inventory manager or sales manager. If they won't work with you, I'm sure there are other dealers in your area that will.
Good Luck !!!
ABOUT CE PKG. # 3
I called 1-800-GO-TOYOTA and as per them you could order pkg. 3 in model CE even though it is not yet officially available in N.East Mkt.

I'll tell you the rest of the story.... someday, LOL.

I signed some paperwork stating I will pay and pick-up by the 31st.
They wouldn't budge on MSRP! ok...after all was said and done we got out at $191 under MSRP....BIG DEAL.
I need the van for my business so I really can't wait 4-8 weeks longer to get a deal.
The positive side of it is I know I will love owning it and am really happy to have one waiting for me.

Can anyone tell how is the priceing Sienna after toyota recall ?. I have seen the MSRP of Sienna are over priced with option packages.
I have toyota camry 98 nearly 110000 miles.Car wise Camry is excellent. I am driving camry for last six years.
Yesterday I drove nissan quest. Test drive was good. I have not driven on a highway.
The features and price wise quest is much cheaper comes(such as NAV,DVD,Leather,Sonar,Power windows etc) than Sienna. I am unable to decide between Quest & Sienna. I have not done test drive of Sienna.
Pls make your suggestions.
They offered a 4% discount off MSRP. 3% was for being a member of Sams's Club and 1% customer loyalty (my wife had purchased a 2000 Solara from there). Completed deal on an XLE with Pkg. #14 and carpet for about $1400 off MSRP of $33,811.
Best deal I could find for a Toyota Sienna,in the area. The vehicle was a cancellation from another buyer and was just off the truck.
They had three other LE vehicles with pkg #1, but I wanted traction control.
I put a deposit on my van when the dealership told me that they had 3 XLE's coming in. In this area, they were coming with the pkg.#12. That's what I got. It took 2 weeks to arrive.I paid MSRP(begrudingly because I love a good bargain.)However, the dealership ,NOT the salesman, did try to sell it to someone else who offered them more than I was paying. (which was MSRP!!). So, a lot of these posts I've read are most likely dealership problems made to look like the individual salesman's fault. My salesman was a friend, and I had to get there within hours of it coming into the dealership before it was sold out from under me by a higher bidder. It was crazy....
However, I absolutely love this car!! My husband has a BMW, and I think it has a drive that is as nice as his. It is upgraded galore, although no moonroof or dvd, but I did get a number of a local place to put it in-courtesy of my salesman, so it'll have everything I could want in a car. I was not a big minivan fan until I got into this car. I can't say enough about it.
It is a little wider and longer than my previous SUV, and pulling into my garage can be tricky because it doesn't allow much leeway- my salesman told me to also be careful of the trunk, in some garages, it may hit when open. But, this car is amazing. Never thought they'd get a minivan to look/ride like this. It's worth every penny of MSRP.
None of the dealers I talked to have a clue on whether they can obtain a vehicle, but all quote MSRP.
I am interested in'04 Sienna LE 8 Pass pckg # 11 (Side curtain bags, Stability Control & DVD).

I went from the Jeep Cherokee, which I never really liked, to the 04 Sienna....The Sienna is definitely wider and longer, which presented a little struggle first time pulling into the garage...but,I love it, and can't find enough reasons to drive it!!
Thanks for all the info on the boards..it helped me be a more informed consumer.

$1800 off MSRP was offered by Dublin Toyota by their internet manager. This price was matched by my local dealer (fremont toyota) and toyota of palo alto. All dealer in the area were willing to give at least $1,000 off sticker.

Relieved to report no bait/switch or problems in pick up and we only waited about 2 weeks. I haven't seen a red one yet and I had to pick that color sight unseen out of the inventory coming to the SE (would have gotten the Aspen green/fawn if possible) but it's pretty nice and not as common as the silver or beige. Marietta Toyota did a "dealer swap" to get the exact car with the package I wanted. Color was secondary priority.
We really couldn't have afforded much more than pkg #4 (airbags very much priority) but I'm having pangs of longing for the DVD player...we have the rear audio thing on the ceiling with what looks to be a space for the DVD - is there any way to get a DVD player installed by Toyota now or is that only factory installed?? I'm out of luck, right?
What a great car!!! We are marveling at the turning circle as compared to our Explorer! (We have a sharp turn to get into our garage).
Took it on a 9 day trip through Oregon, and loved the van. Avg. 26.5 mpg, and the ride is smoother than anything I have driven. So smooth in fact that I got a speeding ticket doing 87! Wasn't even trying to speed, but looking at the scenery and the van got away from me.
Power? how about 75 coming up the grapevine.
Love the van. Excellent value.

1. Ignorant of how to order packages that are not "standard" for their region
2. Too lazy to send the one email required to reconfigure an allocated order to the desired configuration.
3. The very few that are willing and able to do so. I bought from Tuscaloosa AL Toyota. Email me for more details. My wait from day of deposit to day of delivery was 31 days. (Mine was built the week prior to the shutdown/slowdown.)
We are thinking of buying the base model and wondering what anyone paid in Canadian $ for their Sienna. Do you know what the vehicle cost the dealer, or any suggestions you can give us when buying this vehicle.
Thanks.

I've also been in contact with a dealer in Pittsburgh who will order me exactly what I want - Blue Mirage XLE #5 (CZ) at $1000 under MSRP with delivery set for Thanksgiving. Do you think that is realistic?
On a side note, I found a web site for a fleet dealer that puts an order today at delivery at Christmas. (Of course, that's a fleet order and may not represent the general consumer)
Any comments would be appreciated.
