I bought my Sienna LE last Friday. with following options:
    TO, UN, UP, FE, EF.
    Finial price 24990 + Tax/Tag.
    1.9 APR for 36 month.
That is $500 over KBB invoice. Also bought 6/75K Platinum extended warranty for 650.
  • hasmhasm Member Posts: 5
    Jinsong- Which dealer? thanks.
  • karieokarieo Member Posts: 10
I just paid $24,743 for an LE with UN, TO, EF, RB, and VS, which is invoice according to KBB--plus the destination charge of $480. I think (and sure hope) that's a pretty darned good deal for this valley. I got it through the internet sales contacts at Capitol Toyota in San Jose, if anyone is interested.

    dont buy cars from conicelli..
they claim they will beat any price(need proof).

I faxed them a quote from a dealer in philadelphia automall. They said yes we can beat that and when I went to look at the car it was a demo!!! with 3k miles. they offerred me 200 below invoice ...

I complained to the manager created a big scene in the showroom and walked out!! and bought the car from the other dealer(200 above invoice)
  • karieokarieo Member Posts: 10
Well...I'm confessing that I'm soooo naive--I thought I'd actually agreed to buy a car, but the internet sales guys at San Jose's Capitol Toyota are still playing the game. Found out the car they said they had for me was missing a few of the options I required, and--gee, whiz, blah, blah--you get the picture. I walked. So I'm still looking. Just wanted to let you all know Capitol's not the spot.

Hi any one have good pricing info on these two:

Base model ce with just the extra value pakage

    Base model le

I'm having problems because, most of these come with toyoguard, and some processing fee they want to add at the end with tax tag title. The fee was about 400 bucks.

I guess what I need to know is do I have to get toyoguard, and do I have to pay this fee. Can I bicker down the price, on those.

    I live in Florida

I got tired of waiting for the Conicelli salesman to fax me a quote so I went to another local dealer. Wouldn't you know, without even talking to me they hand to some hybrid guy with sales experience but whose principal function is to handle their internet relations! So far so good (they've yet to insult my intelligence) but the sticking point with them may be they lack the configuration of CE or LE I'm interested in. Conicelli has the CE I want, very close on the LE, and they will probably come in at or slightly below KBB including this add-on charge which dealers itemize as either a Toyota advertising fee or one or a combination of obfuscating "reserve fees" that no one can explain to you but strongly imply or aver that it's a fixed dealer cost they must pass on (perhaps someone can comment). This would be ~24.8K (+tax and tags) for an LE with UN, UP, TO, FE, and DK. I'm willing to give the other local dealer a shot Mon AM however because their LE is similar and I'm pretty sure they'll at least match the other's price. I don't have to buy now (although the 1.9% financing officially ends Mon I'm willing to bet it or another incentive will be their Tues) and it seems likely even better deals will be there in July/Aug.
I'm contemplating adding on the 9E entertainment system (1495 invoice), V5 security ($155), possibly leather (quoted $1100 dealer install- their cost??), and possibly 6yr/75K platinum warranty that jingson said he paid $650 at Conicelli. They would have to accept invoice on these (would they- seems they should?). Wouldn't mind going aftermarket (esp. with ent system) although I got a "possible warranty violation if electric problem occurs and you have aftermarket system".
Any comments would be appreciated; I've found this forum quite helpful thus far, a very powerful tool in the buying process.

Can all the people in here that don't have transmission problems with there Sienna please respond, In the responce can you state the year, mileage and model type of the Sienna you own. Also do the Sienna owners in here have a squealing break problem.

We need a little encouragement to continue to look at getting a Sienna.

Got my 01 Silver XLE w/ Luxury Pkg, Center Console, Side Airbags, Tow Pkg, Rear Spoiler, Chr. Rear View & Rr. Bumper Prot. : all for $89 below invoice here in So. California.

    Love it!!!
  • karieokarieo Member Posts: 10
Where did you get the great deal? We're willing to travel to get one.
  • raybearraybear Member Posts: 1,795
Well, I assume you're in the Southeast Region. Toyoguard can be negotiated down, but I think it's on most every car they sell. The admin or doc fee is a dealer add on, and should be considered part of the total deal.

And, you're a better man than I am!
  • karieokarieo Member Posts: 10
We will apparently have to wait for the 2002 models because we don't want all the options that the factory sticks on the Sienna: leather, side air bags, and a few other luxuries we don't feel a need for or just plain don't want. I was told by one sales guy that I should expect to have to special order a van with only the options we want--and that means a 2002, since it's too late for the 2001 models to be special ordered. He said expect to pay about $1,000 over invoice due to the special order. Does that sound a reasonable additional price for a special order?

Yesterday I bought an XLE with TO and power door from Sloane in Glenside. Got Edmunds trade-in value on my 95 Bonneville, then paid carsdirect.com price (plus tax/tags) for the XLE. The 1.9% also saves ~$1.5K in financing. Also got dealer install leather for good price and 6/75K platinum extended for $650. Their asking on the warranty is > $1000 so it scares me to think what it actually costs them (maybe $650 is too much to pay). I think the only reasons I bought the van (I could have waited; these deals won't go away) were: 1)they didn't lowball me on their trade offer; and 2) the salesman was their web guy and unlike virtually every salesman I've ever spoken to, he didn't take me for an idiot. A tolerable level of BS and shmooz and only a small amount of the salesman-sales manager game.

So my guess is with or without the financing incentive in place tri-state shoppers of Siennas can probably pay 2-3 hundred under carsdirect.com in July if they stick to their guns.

Anyone buy in this area, and what did you pay?
Got a price of 25500 W/UN TO,EF,GN. Dosen't include tag tax pross. they want 350 processing.
I think this is too high, am I right?
  • gunga64gunga64 Member Posts: 271
Is the toyota financing a good deal or is it some trick. We went and looked at a toyota last saturday the sales guy said that it was the last day you could get .9% financing. We still decided to wait. He calls me up today(weds) and says they still have the .9% financing, are these guys trustworthy at all. I have found them in a ton of lies now.
  • karieokarieo Member Posts: 10
Gee, gunga64, I think your last sentence says it all. How many times will we be lied to and be polite about it? I got a call back from a dealer who lied to me earlier (see my post a while back) and now wants to give me "any XLE on my lot for $350 over my cost." The fact that he doesn't have an XLE with the options I want, and they all have stuff he knows I don't want, does not deter him. Avoid these guys like the plague, I say!

  • gunga64gunga64 Member Posts: 271
Thats a great deal out the door, is there a breakdown of items on the invoice that you can post for me. Also what location and dealer did you get it at.
  • carleton1carleton1 Member Posts: 560
I have never met a Toyota owner who had a problem with a Toyota. Can not say that about any other brand.
Unethical dealers/salesmen: These type seem to be more common in larger market dealerships. I feel I can place 100% trust in the Toyota salesmen I have met in this area where the market is about 1,000,000 people.
We have owned mostly GM vehicles and had great service at the closest Chevrolet dealership for 24 years...BUT I do not trust ANY of the salesmen and saleswomen at that dealership. I bought 3 Chevy from them in the past 24 years BUT 4 Chevy from other dealerships farther from our home. I think they ripped off my neighbor when he bought his 2000 Impala by selling unnecessary "high profit" dealer add ons. I do NOT like the salesmen at the Dodge dealership where we got our 99 GC SE and feel that the Toyota salesmen are the most trustworthy of any local area dealership.
  • gunga64gunga64 Member Posts: 271
Edmunds has this for holdback for toyota 2% of the Base MSRP (Amount may differ in Southern U.S.)

What is it in FLorida. Figures you can't even get the holdback for toyota, without jumping threw loops.
  • edwardh5edwardh5 Member Posts: 130
Toyotas are great, but they score almost last (worst) in the sales experience survey by JD Powers.
The effort Toy extends to design and service does not seem to be applied to the sales side.
  • bob57bob57 Member Posts: 302
Almost last? Betcha Honda secured that last spot!
  • raybearraybear Member Posts: 1,795
Not a chance. Unfortunately Toyota makes great cars, but the sales staff at many dealerships leave a lot to be desired.

Any present company excluded, of course!

Just bought a Sienna imported from Canada to United States. Comes with full factory warranty (Honda, unlike Toyota, does not honor the factory warranty on imported Odysseys). The instrument panel (odometer, speedometer, etc) was replaced and the miles are certified. Because of the favorable exchange rate, I paid $27,500 for a fully loaded XLE (leather seats, power slide doors, moonroof, etc.) that has a MSRP of $32,000. Also, the bank had no problem leasing it--the residual was identical to a US model. Unless anyone can think of potential problems, Canadian imported Siennas (or any automobile) represent a huge potential savings.
  • groggy2groggy2 Member Posts: 1
Where in Canada did you purchase your Sienna? How did you handle duty etc. when you brought it into the US?
  • interactorinteractor Member Posts: 2
I bought the Canadian Sienna from a U.S. dealership that regularly works with an importer. I'm not sure if U.S. citizens residing in the United States can purchase a car in Canada for use in the United States. I've heard different stories. My hunch is that one can and it's not too difficult. Seems like the biggest hurdle is finding a dealership in Canada to sell you a car. Toyota doesn't forbid it explicitly. I think it's a matter of regional sales managers not wanting to loose volume and thus putting pressure on their dealerships. If you can do it yourself, you'll save even more than I did.
  • gunga64gunga64 Member Posts: 271
Getting a headache. I kept getting quotes from dealers that say they will sell me a sienna under invoice. But every time I get the quote its 500-1200 over invoice. I'm even including that damn ad fee of 413 bucks. What the hell is wrong with toyota that they cant seem to get the right numbers. When you confront them with their quote and ask them to show me their numbers all they say is that its right and dont send me any info.. With this kinda additude why should I buy a Toyota. Honda is willing to sell me one no hassle. They will lose a customer playing these games.
  • raybearraybear Member Posts: 1,795
Try and get the Honda for $1200 over invoice!!!

Are you seeing the actual dealer invoice or are you going by what you can spec out here and on other sites? More often than not, Toyota will have shipped the cars with more options than you are looking for or counting on.
  • gunga64gunga64 Member Posts: 271
I have checked mulitpy dealers for what they have on the lot,I know exactly the options I'm looking at. I also received multiply invoice prices of which many are the same or off very slightly.

I know you can not buy a honda supposedly under msrp or what is stated on the sticker. But at least I know what I'm working with. With Toyota I get a different story from every dealer I talk to, and I have talked to or emailed dozens. One says you have to have this in the southeast another says you dont. They play with the numbers like crazy. I seem not to be the only one with problems with Toyota dealerships. Since they are known for having near the the bottom in the industry for sales satisfaction. Putting down Honda for selling MSRP is an easy answer to a lot of the problems I hear about Toyota.
  • gunga64gunga64 Member Posts: 271
Ok I did it. Let me know what you think?

    Sienna 2001 LE
with extra value and towing and toyoguard
    24799.00

But i got .9% financing for 3 years can make 1k off the cash I would have paid for cheaper deal.

So basically got it at 23799.00 about 200 under invoice If figure. Thes Toyota guys were tough
I'm not used to working so hard to get a deal. Could not get a deal on 2002 from most of the dealers. Dealer gets 5 star rating because he didnt lie like the others did.
  • bostonoriolebostonoriole Member Posts: 53
I paid 22,595 for a 2002 CE with the customer value package. The 2002 CV package has a roof rack and keyless entry, which the 2001 package didn't have. The only other charge was $200 for "Prep, gas, and documentation fees".

There was no Toyota Advertising Fee.

How does this sounds to you all?

Can anyone please recommed a good Toyota dealer in Central Jersey?

I am currently looking for 2002 Sienna LE with Symphony packege.

    Thanks.
  • peanutpeanut Member Posts: 2
We have found the information here very helpful and hope we can be of help to someone else.
We live in the Boston area
2001 Sienna's are going for invoice
The best deal we could find on a 2002 LE with the features we wanted (TO, AJ, AW, XZ, UN, VD, and BE) is $600 over invoice - Price 26,500. (Invoice 25,900) We thought this was reasonable given that this car had to be special ordered, since VD and BE are not available on the LE in the New England region. The next closest dealer was going to charge us $1500 over invoice because of the special order. Some dealers wouldn't even order one for us, they tried to get us to buy one of the 2001 XLE's (which did have VD and BE but also cost about $3000 more)
The only other fees are state sales tax of 5% and a document preparation fee of $180.

I had visited Autoland, Route 22 , NJ when I was looking for Sienna.
My impression is the salesman was not so knowledeable but you may first try to haggle the price.
Finally I went back to Brunswick Toyota, Route 1 , NJ in South Brunswick, NJ from where I had bought Camry.
Salesperson (Ronny Salih) was knowledeable and in fact we used Edmonds.com to settle for the price. They have internet access at each desk and he showed me the invoice as as well as TMV at edmunds.com and we negotiated the price.
F&I person (Tom, I think) also didnot try to push the extended warranty to me, but told me about the various rates and plans.
Overall impression was relaxing and no pressure from the salesman as well as F&I guy.
I hope this helps you in searching the dealer. You may try thru' e-mail and internet for their price quote.

Has anyone heard of an invoice tax? Sounds fishy.
How about Dealer service charge of $385? What is this?
  • raybearraybear Member Posts: 1,795
That's a new one. The service charge sounds like a doc, admin or prep fee, those are common but yours is at the upper end of the scale. Some states have no fees allowed while others have no limits.

I want to get a Toyota Factory Extended Service Coverage (Platinum - 7 years / 100K miles). The quote from www.toyotawarranty.com is $1120 (0 deductible). The local delater says he can give me the same for $900. However, the paper work he showed me says "JM&A Group". He swears that this is the genuine Toyota factory warranty (JM stands for Jim Moraine (sp), the south east distributor I believe). I want the genuine Toyota warranty. How do I know I am not getting ripped

    Hi,

If you live in the NJ/PA area, Team Toyota in Langhorne, has 0% financing for 36 months. I just bought an LE with extra value package, power sliding right door, towing package for $18,400 AFTER trading in my Grand Voyager (97) with 40K miles on it. The Voyager car only had ABS, sunscreen glass and roof rack.

    Deal went like this...

They offered me $20,950 off of the $27,000 sticker.
I offered $17,800 (I wanted $6K at least for the van...)
They came back with $19000. I moved to $18,400 and didn't budge from that number.
They met my price and I also qualified for a graduate rebate which brought it down to $18K.

The invoice from what I can tell is $24K and change. However, they showed me the inventory stock list with MSRP and invoice for all vehicles on the lot. That showed $24,700. So, it appears as though I got $6300 for the trade-in, and invoice on the car. Chose the 36 month financing.

What a great car! American cars stink! Valve problems, electrical and transmission problems with the Voyager.

Hello. Just bought a 2002 LE with LE Value package, tow package, right-side power sliding door and rear bumper guard (whatever that is). Got the 0% financing for 3 years. Love the ride! I believe the invoice for the van is about $24,200. I paid $24,955. I could have haggled for less, but had the family with me :) This was in the Southern Tier of NY.
