I can't even see the RGB we've been talking so much about. Tint looks great. Seats look even better.

    Solid.

is that area a part-time area for jiffy-lube?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Looks like it, but the yellow curb means no parking. That's odd.

Oh you guys are brutal! Yellow curb was because I parked in front of the neighborhood school (only place I could find where the sun was still shinning). And yes, the amount of oil on the pavement is appalling.

George- how in the heck did you figure it out? Hollywood Dr? Boy you are close! I'm almost positive that Porter, the STi tech/service writer for Subaru of Gwinnett, lives within a block of you.

I just got back from taking a bunch more photos. I'll post some this evening after I download them to the home PC. They should be a lot better (more scenic location and beautiful clear day).

Very very nice, as they in Ireland, health to enjoy.

      Cheers Pat.

I knew you were in my area. I figured the yellow curb and sidewalk was next to a school, and those mysterious oil stains were not from your XT but were probably from school buses. From that point it was a mental process of elimination. :)

The car looks really sharp with the tinted windows. Looking at your seats makes you wonder why Subaru does not do the two color scheme out of the factory.

Maybe they're saving it for an STi Forester? :-)

Good view of tint. Notice that the front widows are slightly lighter (40 vs 20 in the rear)

Why can't we get a nice factory tint?

Why can't we get a nice factory tint?

The way I understand it, by law, manufacturers aren't allowed to tint passenger car windows and all Subarus are classified as passenger cars. Every Subaru except for the Baja that is and guess what? Yep, it comes with factory tinted windows.

is not classified as a car, whereas the Forester is.

you can to tint passenger car windows from the factory, but it has to be light in order to be sure to pass all 50 states.

my M3 has factory tinted glass. it's probably 85-90%, not very dark at all but definitely there.

IMO the next Forester will be classified as a truck. We'll see. That'll help meet CAFE numbers plus allow them to tint it.

I thought the current Forester was already classified as a truck?

The only reason I was wondering why Subaru can't get them other than manufacturer opinion on it perhaps was I see tinted windows on so many vehicles on lots, particularly GM trucks/SUV's, but I don't see why a car should be all that different.
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
Forester is classified as a car by the EPA.

Why does the Forester widow sticker say that it is a special purpose SUV 4wd? It is listed this way on the Gas Mileage Information.

In NYS the color of the curb doesn't effect if you can park or not. Only thing in NY is signage. I guess a lot of people were painting their curbs yellow to stop people from parking in front of their house!

1 STi was wearing Pilot Sports IIRC
    1 STi was wearing SP5000s
1 STi was wearing Pirelli Snows til 2 got bubbles after hitting a chunk of asphalt, then we had 3 of the guys who were meeting us in philly meet us in allentown, PA and we swapped over his stockers (from storage) to replace the bubbled tires.

Below is a link to Imagestation with my photos of NAIAS. Nothing really new, just some more shots of the Legacy GT, Saab 9-2X, Volvo S40/V50 and Mazda 6 hatchback and wagon.

The Legacy photos are at the start and end of the album.

Nice pics. Notice how the S40's center console sort of "floats", it's cool. Behind is hollow. The console is also narrow.

Dunno what that is in the rear door jamb of the S40. You think it's big enough now that you have a kid? Honestly? I don't...

Nor can I tell why the Legacy GT gets that little black trim in the leading edge of the rear fender. Air deflector of some sort?

  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Yeah, the center console of the S40 was nice. It was a bit strange at first, but after a while, I started to like it. Kind of like a Bang & Olfusen (sp?) stereo. The controls were pretty intuitive too. You could program lots of car settings through that interface. My brother and I puzzled over what you could but behind it, in that space.

I looked over at a 2004 OB wagon and it also had that little plastic trim too. Never noticed it until now.

Really like the rear of the GT sedan and wagon, especially the wagon. That silver GT sedan is my next car! Also like the Mazda 6. Not sure of the Saab. Why not just buy an Impreza? The Saab will be overpriced. The V50 looks like all the other Volvo wagons.

    Greg,

Yep, I liked the back of the wagon too. It had a very powerful, chiseled look to it.

My brother thought the sedan had a more balanced look, though:

I just wished Subaru had done a little more to show off these two gems.
