Purchased SF Ltd with Premium Pkg, mats, cargo tray and wheel locks. It had one of those phony "protection pkg" uplifts which I told him I don't pay for. Actual MSRP was $27,320. We settled on $24K (plus TTL) including the $1K rebate. Also took the $500 financing incentive. So $2,320 off the MSRP. Thrown in from sticker #2 was Protection Package (anyone know what that is-I'm guessing Turtle Wax), very nice pinstripe, door visors and mud splash guards. I'm assuming that stuff got me to about $2,500 under MSRP. With the finance incentive I left happy paying $23,500 for a very handsome automobile. Color is Natural Khaki (although it doesn't look like any of the khakis in my closet).
That sounds like a really good deal, is that for the AWD model? I think the AWD Limited with Premium is around $29K MSRP..
Anyway, I picked up my SF this weekend from Towne in Buffalo for $26,300 OTD, and imported it to Canada without a hitch. It's the AWD Limited with Premium package, in Silver. I really wanted the Natural Khaki, but they couldn't find one close enough with the premium package.
I wanted to ask what others are paying for the extended warranty, and if it's worth it or not. I was offered a price of around $1400, but I've been seeing people in this thread getting it for well under $1000. I couldn't find the link that was posted earlier, does anyone have any contacts to get the warranty for cheaper?
The price was for a FWD, not an AWD. I paid $1429 for the extended service and maintenance contract. I drive 25K miles/yr so having bumper-to-bumper for 4 years w/no mileage limit, plus having all my service appointments prepaid made good sense to me. I like the feeling of being finished with my car expenses. I honestly didn't realize the contract was a negotiable item since I was buying it through the business/finance manager.
I'm currently negotiating on a 2007 Santa Fe SE 2WD (w$95 floor mats). (Of course there is always about $895 of dealer add ons like pin stripe and other such 'junk' for the other handwritten sticker price.) The MSRP is $24,595. Besides the $1000 rebate, I get $500 buyer loyalty rebate, and $500 financing rebate. Taking us to $22,595. My 2005 GLS Tucson trade has 30,900 miles very nice /exc cond is being offered at a $11,500 trade value (which I think is very good based on research). NJ sales tax is 7% The current offer I have is finance $10,682, "Out The Door Price" including tax Should I hold out for $10,100 ? A second dealer told me they couldn't come within $500 of the $10,100 otd, and if the first dealer keeps his word at $10,682, I should go for it. Tell me if you think I have squeezed them enough? Is the one dealer getting a bigger kickback or hungrier for their monthly quota? The dealer that gave up only offered $9,700 on the trade. I hope to make a decision today....before I put more miles on my trade. Luv Hyundai's. This will be my fourth! Pam
This is a repost, as the moderator removed my original message because I had included the names of salespeople - I guess that's a no-no.
BEWARE OF EASTERNS HYUNDAI IN LEESBURG, VA.
They are frauds. After reading much info on this site to help my mom buy a new AWD Limited with Touring & Premium package, I was working deals between various dealers in PA, VA, and MD. These guys made a deal with me on the phone for the vehicle we wanted, at 27,000 at 3.9%, plus tax and tags. No one else could match it. It wasn't the color she wanted, so they said they'd honor that deal and try to find the Cherry Red she wants. When they called back and said they couldn't find it, they said they'd sell her the slate blue they had on the lot and give her another 200 off for the color - 26,800. Deal is agreed to, I'm assured there are no other hidden charges, I give them a deposit to hold it until Saturday, and I tell my mom.
She's so excited. She says she wants to drive down there herself so she can enjoy the ride home in her new car. She drives the 4.5 hours down from Pittsburgh to Leesburg and they show her the Santa Fe -
It has 6200 miles!!
They tell her it's a managers demo, and they'll knock off another 500. Then she finds out it's a loaner, used by multiple people. She's livid (as am I). They tell her they'll find her what she wants somewhere else and trade for it but it'll cost another 1200 on top of the agreed to price. No way!
After 3 hours in the dealership, with me on the phone, finally talking to the General Manager, saying they thought we knew it was a demo, they decide they can't make it right, fill up her gas tank, and she walks. No way are we going with the obvious bait and switch BS, or the 1200 upcharge for a brand new one (if they were willing to find a cherry red for the same price, then how was this price only for their loaner vehicle?). They keep asking me what will make us happy, and I keep telling them to honor their deal like real businessmen, but they decline, say they can't do it.
So I get on the phone with Fitzmall and a dealer in Fairfax, VA, only an hour from where she is, who both have what she wants in stock and are comparable in price to each other (though about 700 more than her original deal at Easterns), but at this point, she's ready to cry and just wants to come home.
We made a deal with the nice guys up at Motorworld Hyundai in Wilkes-barre and she'll get hers next Saturday - so there is a silver lining.
Not looking for pity or starting a debate, just warning others to STAY AWAY FROM EASTERNS IN LEESBURG. INTERNET AND SHOWROOM SALESMEN PRACTICE BS BAIT AND SWITCH.
Fitzmall can come very close. They have a couple of inbound Limited AWDs in Platinum Sage with Premium Package and carpeted mats but with the gray interior. M.S.R.P. is $29,885, invoice is $28,211, and net purchase price (after rebates) is $25,411.
They have identically-equipped Santa Fe Limited AWDs with beige interior either in stock or inbound in Arctic White, White Pearl, and Natural Khaki.
BTW, have you seen the gray interior? It's very attractive.
This forum is one of the best resources I have found for saving money on the whole car buying experience. Thanks to everyone who has posted.
Last Monday, we bought a Bright Silver (grey Int.) '07 Limited with premium pkg, for $800 below invoice before rebates, TTL. I wouldn't have got this good a deal without the shared experiences found on this board. [Called Fitzmall and Towne and had lower prices, but decided against the hassles of the 3+ hour trip; I live in CT]
I shunned the dealer offered ext warranty, b/c I had read here the I should be able to get the Platinum Pkg w/$0 deductible for $795-895 from the dealer mentioned on checkbook.org. I called him today and was told $1200. He said that the $795 pricing was for a previous version of the HPP. Does anyone have any current experience / knowledge. Also, looking at what I think is a current contract for the HPP not just the brochure [www.officialhyundaiwarranty.com], the contract says it only replaces mechanical failures (i.e. wear outs as opposed to defects) up to 50K miles. What gives with this? Has anyone had a bad experience on this front?
Lastly, the contract says the plan is administered by Fidelity Warranty Services. Should I be concerned? Is this different than what Hyundai has offered in the past?
Again, thanks for all the free advice. I hope to be able to help someone else through my future experiences down the road.
Can anyone tell me what the current incentives & or rebates that are available currently on the Santa Fe? So far I've seen the $1000 cash to customer & $500 Bonus cash if you use their financing. I've seen on some posts rebates totaling $2800 and not sure what that incorporates. Any information would be great.
In western Canada Block Heaters are normally a given when purchasing a new vehicle. Does anyone know what the going rate is to have a block heater installed in a new vehicle purchase in the United States.
I looked at both colors at the dealer today when I test drove the AWD Limited. I initially thought I wanted the Platinum Sage, but it looked more gray/silver than the Natural Khaki which actually looked sage to me.
It was cloudy here in Denver today and I wondered if those of you have been looking at these colors can give me their thoughts.
I have the Platinum Sage and in the sun (always sunny In nevada) it looks really nice (does not look grey of silver at all to me)....a very nice shade, and I usually do not like green. It is all in the eye of the buyer....good luck on your choice!
I have a Natural Khaki, it is great though sometimes it looks golden brown, other times sage, and some other times greyish brown/green. I also live in Colorado, and this vehicle is great here.
I finally got around to buying a Santa Fe Limited AWD in a super Bright Silver paint job Monday night (with grey interior). I love it! Hyundais really have moved on from their Pony days of 20 years ago. I had originally been planning to buy a CRV, but test driving the RAV-4 convinced me that I needed (ok, wanted) a V-6. The Santa Fe may not have as powerful a motor or as quick 0-60 time, but it feels much more refined inside and is a better value for money.
You won't learn much from my price, as I bought from Fitzmall, but I paid $25,048 for my Santa Fe with premium package. No tax/tags for me, as I am a diplomat and this is one of the few benefits we enjoy. (Before you think it is the life of luxury, try getting a mortgage as a diplomat! Almost nobody wants to lend to you, and then you have to really pay for it.)
I went with Fitzgerald based on price and availability of the model I wanted. I would like to say that I had a really good experience with Fitzgerald/White Flint - they were very knowledgeable about the car, and there was very low pressure on the extras (I didn't buy any). I would recommend them highly to anyone looking to buy a new car. (And I think they will deliver for relatively little if you don't live nearby, though I do so I am not too sure about those costs.)
Congrats on your new Santa Fe! It sounds like ours are nearly identical. Mine's also a Limited AWD with Premium Package and XM as well as carpeted mats and the all important "official" Hyundai first aid kit. I went with Steel Gray (already have a silver car in the "livery") with the black interior. (I'd have preferred the gray but this particular car happened to have the black and it was perfect in every other way.)
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. After 3.5 months and 3500 miles I couldn't be happier with this car. Good luck!
With -$1900 in rebates ($1,000 standard, $500 financing, and $400 for recent college graduate), we paid $23,350 OTD on a platinum sage model. I feel like I got a great deal.
Took me awhile haggling with several dealers, but I found a good dealership in Jim Ellis Hyundai. No one else would come close. Put $8,000 down and took out a loan on the rest
If I am unable to finalize a deal on an '07 by 9/4, does anyone know what the incentives & rebates will look like moving forward? Also, any idea of continued availaiblity of 07s in desire colors, etc.?
Future incentives are always a closely-guarded secret. It's highly unlikely that anyone here will know about them until they're actually in effect; anything else would be pure speculation.
As far as selection, 2007's have been out of production for over a month; it goes without saying that the supply and choices of options and colors are going down every day.
I've been in conversation with the internet guy at a local dealer in Atlanta and looks like we've finally gotten to an agreement. Here are the details:
07 SF LTD with premium pkg w cargo tray List 27,880 Inv 26,198 price 25,035 1160 below invoice before rebate
Thanks to all for their help in prices paid. Hope I help someone with my info. I'll update tomorrow on purchasing process.
New to forum and love it. A great wealth of unbiased information. Will probably purchase new Santa Fe late September. Any recommendations on dealers in the greater Phoenix area?
Do not go to Chapman Hyundai - they do not give good deals -I would try Fitzmall and then try to get another dealer to beat it. You could try the one in Scottsdale. I bought an overpriced lemon from Chapman and they refused to replace it with a different vehicle. That was before I found this forum. Good Luck.
Does anyone know what the range of interest rates are going through using Hyundai financing? I realize it will vary according to credit scores, but a generic ballpark would be helpful.
I'm trying to figure out whether to finance through my CU and take a higher price on the vehicle or if whether we should go through Hyundai.
We have perfect credit, and I think the dealer told us the best interest rate we could get through Hyundai was around 6.75% (if I remember correctly). We were able to get 4.75% through our credit union, so we did that instead. But one suggestion---negotiate the price before you tell them you're going to use your own financing. Our dealer gave us a great price (my husband was a trooper and called several dealers...eventually haggling out a good deal), and they included the $1000 rebate, as well as the extra $500 we would have received through Hyundai's financing (they gave it to us anyway). Don't let them give you a higher price on the car! Good luck!
I spoke with a dealer here in San Antonio yesterday. He is still getting some 07's in and doesn't expect his 08's until October. This is good for us, as we are trying to sell our current vehicle before buying a year end model Santa Fe. We of course are flexible on color and some options. He wasn't sure about the rebate continueing in Sept, but I would think that it would if they want to continue clearing out the 07's. Let's at least hope!
I have very much enjoyed this forum and hope to get a good deal if our vehicle sells soon. My goal is 82% of MSRP before TT&L. The ones I've seen at Fitzmall.com run 83-85% of MSRP, but I read of someone on this forum getting 82%, so I might as well try.
If you buy an 07 Santa Fe, I would love to know what the MSRP was, AND your final price before TTL. Best of luck to all.
Hello everyone! This post is long-winded, but I hope that it will be useful to some of you. I hope I’m keeping with the thread topic.
After reading posts on this forum for the last week or so I decided to purchase a 2007 Santa Fe LTD AWD with no other options. I live in Albany, NY, and I started the process by requesting quotes from the online sites such as Edmunds.com and others. Right away I noticed that these sites were only in communication with two dealers in my area (Lia Hyundai and Fucillo Hyundai), with no option to get quotes from dealers slightly farther away. A few hours after submitting my RFQ, a salesperson at Fucillo contacted me to “set up an appointment.” I told him that I didn’t want to set up an appointment, and that I had requested a quote. He said that they don’t give quotes over the phone, so I decided not to deal with them at that point. Lia Hyundai never contacted me.
Interestingly, I had seen posts on this forum that CarsDirect.com sold cars directly, so I filled out their quote request as well, only to find out that they contacted Fucillo on my behalf, and didn’t offer to sell me the car directly. I contacted the CarsDirect customer service via email and was told that I should have had the option to be contacted by a dealer, or buy the car directly from CarsDirect. They said that I must have missed the option. So I tried their website again and noticed that my popup blocker was blocking a popup on their site. I opened the popup and was presented with a different form that promised to offer an immediate price quote, so I filled it out. A few minutes later I got another email from CarsDirect stating that they had contacted Fucillo on my behalf. I never asked them to contact Fucillo, and I didn’t appreciate their deceptive (or downright incorrect) wording. Some people may have luck with them, but I’ll never use them again.
Anyway, my next step was to email as many dealers within a 5 hour drive as possible to get OTD quotes (including the $1000, rebate, no other rebates, 8% sales tax, dealer fees, and NY registration). I didn’t care about MSRP, invoice prices, dealer fees, or anything like that because I just cared about the bottom line price. I said in my email that the dealer with the lowest OTD price would get my business. Most of the dealers responded within a few hours. When I filled out the form on Royal Hyundai of Oneonta’s website it threw a server error, so I tried sending them an email. That got bounced back to me as “undeliverable.” When I got home from work that day I called their sales line The operator took down my contact info and said that she would transfer me to a salesperson. After waiting on hold for a few minutes I heard a click and a dial tone. I waited for someone to call me back, but they never called. The next morning I called their sales manager and got his voicemail. I told him about the problems that I had contacting them, and asked him to give me a call. He never called either. Crazy! Maybe they are going out of business or something.
When I received the quotes, the local dealer’s quotes were thousands higher than dealers such as FitzMall Towne, and Antwerpen. By the time I had looked them over, some dealers had emailed me to find out how they did compared to other dealers. After emailing them back and forth, the dealers within a couple of hours from me started lowering their prices closer to FitzMall Towne, and Antwerpen. In the end, I had 5 offers right around $27,000 OTD.
I had so many numbers to deal with that I created an elaborate spreadsheet to manage the offers from dealers in different states. It looked something like this:
Antwerp Price $24,871.00 Doc. (or other dealer fees) $695.00 Tax $2,045.28 NY Reg (plates) $200.00 Rebate $1,000.00 OTD Total $26,811.28
FitzMall Price $25,233.00 Doc. (or other dealer fees) $500.00 Tax $2,058.64 NY Reg (plates) $200.00 Rebate $1,000.00 OTD Total $26,991.64
Balise Price $26,689.00 Doc. (or other dealer fees) $290.00 Tax $2,158.32 NY Reg (plates) $94.00 Rebate $1,000.00 OTD Total $28,231.32 Towne Price $25,548.00 Doc. (or other dealer fees) $189.00 Tax $2,058.96 NY Reg (plates) $200.00 Rebate $1,000.00 OTD Total $26,995.96
After all of this, I still hadn’t received a quote from my closest dealer (Lia), so I set up a time to meet with the salesperson that took us on a test drive. Before our meeting I came up with the price that I was willing to pay for the Santa Fe - $27,200. Since I had 5 offers around $27,000, I thought that my offer of $200 over that was more than fair. I printed out my offers and brought my laptop with me. I also created a spreadsheet to calculate the OTD price from the base price, dealer fees, tax, registration, and rebate (in that order). This allowed me to easily verify everything during the negotiations without having to use a calculator.
When I met with the salesperson at Lia, we test drove the vehicle that I was intending to buy and sat down to discuss pricing. I told him that I had researched the car and received many quotes from other dealers, and that I was willing to offer $200 over my other quotes. I offered him $27,200 OTD and told him that that was my final offer. The salesperson brought my offer to his sales manager, and about 15 minutes later they came back together and told me that my pricing was wrong, and that the price that I had offered was below their cost. I explained again that I had received detailed OTD quotes, and showed them my spreadsheet, and printouts of my emailed offers.
The manager started to become agitated and told me that I had done more research that most people and that he wouldn’t argue with my quotes. He offered me the car at $27,684, and told me that it was as low as he would go. I stuck to my guns. At that point he switched tactics and asked me why his dealership should lower their cost to save me money. I responded by saying that they should do that because that’s how deals are made, and that I was unwilling to pay more. He said that I’d never get the car for $27,200, and that the other dealers were lying to me. I said that I had covered all my bases with the pricing and that I was confident that I could get that price elsewhere.
The sales manager again asked me why they should lower their profit just to sell the car to me and I said that ‘08s have been in production for a month and a half, and that they should be clearing out their ’07 inventory. At that point the sales manager just got up and walked away. So I packed up my stuff, shook the salesperson’s hand, and walked out. On my way out the salesperson again said that the other quotes were bogus, and that the other dealers were lying. I said that if the other dealers are lying, that I’ll be back, otherwise I won’t.
As soon as I left I emailed Garvey Hyundai, which was about 1.5 hours away. I told
Purchased mine today and took the $500 to finance. I was prepared to write a check. I was given a rate of 6.4% and we earn 5% in our money mkt, so the way I figure it, I would earn $80/month on the $20K financed (I had a trade in) and would come out ahead taking the $500 incentive.
I found the application to be VERY short. I guess they verify salary and SSN and go from there, because that was about all I filled in on the app.
As soon as I left I emailed Garvey Hyundai, which was about 1.5 hours away. I told them that if they could offer me the Santa Fe model that I was looking for at $27,000, I would immediately drive up and buy the car. Within a few minutes Jeff Payne at Garvey had accepted my offer and I drove there, test drove the car, and signed the paperwork. Jeff was extremely easy going, and I never tried to sell me any extras or try to use Hyundai’s financing. I told him exactly what I was looking for via email, and he was respectful of that.
A few hours ago my wife, baby, and I drove back to Garvey to take delivery of the car and Jeff was just as nice as before. He didn’t try to oversell me anything and seemed happy to have my business. I’m so happy with my experience at Garvey that I’ll try to use them for service whenever possible as well, despite the long drive. I’ve heard horror stories about the service at Fucillo and Lia, so I hope I never have to take my car to either of them.
People have posted on this forum that they’ve bought this car for less than I did, but I after all the time I spent researching, obtaining quotes, and negotiating, I’m very happy with the price I paid, which worked out to $24,737 after the $1,000 rebate and before registration and sales tax.
By the way, we just drove the Santa Fe home, and we love it! I hope this info helps someone, because it took forever to write this post!
I too purchased my 07 Santa Fe from Garvey(Plattsburgh)this past October. Sales Dept. was great, they have a great service department as well. Been using them for basics only hope that's all I need to use them for. The only negative so far with the service department is the waiting room is tiny.
After reading this thread, it is apparent that I overpaid for my 2007 Santa Fe Limited w/ Touring. I paid $28,000 for it. Apparently, I could've saved a few grand if I'd read this thread first and shopped around a little.
That's o.k. I still think it was a great value at the $28k I paid for it. But I learned my lesson, and I'll be reading these forums before I try to buy another new car.
I've posted a few messages here the past week or so and have a new dilemma. I would REALLY appreciate all the advice you have to offer. Have decided to go with the 2007 Santa Fe SE (no extras). The dealer that I was working with on the GLS (but changed my mind because after driving an SE model they had, I really wanted the 3.3L V6) doesn't have the color I want in the SE. He has located another dealer that has it and can get it for me by Tuesday.
Here's the problem...he wants me to go ahead and sign the contract and all paperwork today without being able to see or drive the actual vehicle I'm purchasing because the other dealer that he is getting it from has not done the pre-inspection and no one is in the service department to do it until Tuesday morning (because of the holiday). I called the dealer he is getting it from to verify whether or not I could at least see the vehicle and he confirmed that it is in a back storage lot and the keys are locked up because they had had some problems with salespeople taking customers on test drives in cars that had not yet been inspected for safety per the CA DMV.
So what would you do? I can't find this color combo on an SE anywhere else (I've tried on my own). Monday they will still be able to do the rebate but obviously they are trying to do the paperwork today to count toward their month-end numbers for August, thus the rush. Should I hold out and see if they make me a better offer (right now they are offering $21,426 including the $1000 rebate plus the $500 financing rebate and there are no extras on the vehicle)? I just don't like to buy a car I've never driven.
I am a little funny about things like that. I NEVER sign for a car until I inspect and drive it. I drove another SF before this one that really pulled to the right...did not like that even though I am sure it could have been fixed...I do not like driving away and having to have something fixed before I even get home!
Perhaps I would leave a REFUNDABLE deposit to show I was serious but unfortunately car sales reputations are what they are.
Sounds like they are really sticking a gun to your head and perhaps you should act more like "So if someone else wants it, they can have it"
I don't mean to sound so harsh, but there are just too many stories...buying sight unseen (or driven) could cost you a lot of $$...Just MHO. You are taking a SALESMAN"S word for something that even they have not seen.....
BTW I have a Sage Green AWD SE with touring pkg and the price they quoted you does sound good from where I sit. and live in Northern Nevada...have you tried Roseville Hyundai (near Sacramento)...they are huge and do internet sales as well. If the SF is out there...they can get it too! Good Luck
Since this is a brand new vehicle you should be OK signing papers "subject to customer test drive approval" (or words to that affect). It's not like you'd be buying a demo with a few hundred miles on it. You could even put in the contract that the car will not have more than X miles on the odometer (X being mileage from the one dealer to the other plus maybe 20 for incidental during transit or to fuel the car. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Peter, that was an excellent, informative post. I was surprised to see that Fitz was $4 lower than Towne. Deals I'm familiar with have found Towne to be $800 better. Maybe Fitz has more of a "clear 'em out" going on and Fitz has offered a lot of pre-XM cars (couple hundred).
Give them a deposit of $500 and don't sign the final deal until you have seen and driven the car. The $500 lets them know that you are serious. I have never known a dealer to turn this down, if they do, run.
No funny stuff on the paperwork--it was all as we agreed via email. I told them now that we had a price on the new vehicle, I'd like them to appraise my trade in (2003 Crown Vic LX Sport with 96K). They looked at it and came back and asked what I'd like to get for it. Carmax had offered $5000 which I thought was low, so I told the sales guy $6500 hoping I'd pick up a few hundred dollars. They came back at $6300, and I accepted with 5 free oil changes thrown in (about $100) so we were almost at my asking price on the trade.
Finance lady tried to sell me gap insurance, etc. but I refused and took the $500. We have the money in an account drawing 5% APY, which is not far from the 6.4% rate on the 60 month loan. We'll pay the loan off next month.
I've used Carmax before as a benchmark in valuing other trade ins, and they've always been competitive. We've had to stretch other dealers to meet the Carmax offer in the past, but I was pleased to pick up $1400 on the trade.
Remember, keep the trade negotiations separate, or you'll never be able to keep up with the numbers they throw at you.
Best to everyone--thanks for helping me get mine for $1400 under invoice!
Thanks for the replies on this! I feel much better about going ahead with the paperwork now and will include the caveats as suggested. The dealer is not asking for any money from me until the car arrives from the other dealer, so I think it will be OK. I hate the stress of buying a car though and I'll be glad when I'm just driving around in my new SE.
We're considering both the Veracruz and Santa Fe--though I doubt we'll be buying particularly soon. Still, I wanted to show my wife these vehicles.
As I started to look around, I couldn't help but notice how lousy the dealer network is around here--particularly in Virginia. I live in Loudoun County and certainly have driven past Eastern's, and I know just from reputation that I would never, never, never shop there. They have quite a "reputation" around here--lets just say that when your corporate philosophy is "your car is your credit," you can't expect much.
So that's out. I've dealt with Alexandria Hyundai, and frankly they aren't impressive--lousy, rundown showroom in a cramped lot, and they advertise a $399 processing fee--yeah, right.
Other than that, there's the dealer in Fairfax--working from memory, I think they've got a pretty small facility, as well--and Brown's in Manassas.
The dealer network does not inspire confidence--compared to Toyota, Honda, etc. Hyundai really needs to work on this area--if I bought a Hyundai and it needed service, where would I bring it? (Easterns is the only dealership close, but as I said...no way.)
Tysons Corner is one of the biggest auto "pods" in the entire country--and Hyundai is about the only brand NOT represented!
So we are going to look at some vehicles tomorrow at Fitzgerald. I bought my Camry Hybrid from Fitz, and our family has bought other cars there and they are wonderful to deal with. On our other deals, Fitz couldn't be beaten price wise--it sounds like that is not neccessarily the case when it comes to Hyundai, so if it ever gets to that point, we'll see...
I was told by a salesman at Alexandria Hyundai that the Santa Fe no longer has third row seating available, btw...
I hate how you need to buy a Limited to get auto climate controls on the Veracruz and Santa Fe...
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who contributed his/her buying experience and price so I was well equipped before I went to Ricart dealership in Columbus, OH.
I test drove a Limited AWD with the help from a 1st line guy then picked one with the color and pkg meeting my needs (premium pkg and floor mats only). Then I met with a sales manager to talk about the price. I started with $25,500 (all rebates go to the dealer) and 3-yr 0% APR loan thru Hyundai and got the stories that you are all familiar with. The sales manager got on the phone with the finance manager and all the mumbo jumbo and counter offered $27,xxx. I told him the research I did and raised my offer to $26,000. The sales manager brought in the invoice and kept telling me more stories. At that point, I stood up and thanked him for his time then walked out the door. After I got in the car, drove off and pulled in to the Mitsubishi show room next door (Outlander is the next candidate and Ricart is a mega mall), the manager waved to me and wanted me to go back. After I did that, he told me they would do the deal.
I still had to go thru the pain of meeting the "customer relations manager" who tried to sell me all kinds of accessories and paint protection pkg. I declined all that. Finally I got to meet the finance manager. During the process of signing the paper work, I was offered credit life insurance and credit disability insurance, I declined those as well. After about 4 hours, I was finally driving the new truck on my way home.
Final: $26,500 (before financing rebate) Tax: $1805.62 Doc fee: $250 Title fee: $25.50 Rebate to dealer: $500 Monthly payment of 0% APR 36 month financing: $780
This is not a rock bottom price but it is still pretty good. And I was glad that I finished my car shopping on the 2nd day of visiting dealerships, whcih saves me numerous hours for other things. I went to Dennis Mitsubishi on Aug 31 but the desk manager did not want to let go a black on black Limited AWD with floor mats at the price I offered.
Again, thanks to all the info on this forum so I could accomplish this in a pretty efficient manner. Appreciate all the people posting their buying experience and price and also Edmund's facilities for sharing info on the net.
Congrats, Edgar. You got a very good deal on a great SUV. It sounds like yours and mine are identical except for color. (I got Steel Gray / Black.) FWIW, I paid $27,000 for mine (after the $1000 rebate) 3 months ago. After 3500 miles, I could not be happier with this vehicle. It's great. Enjoy yours!
I hear you, DC Metro. I live in Northern VA as well (Falls Church), and was not very impressed with the selection other than Fitzgerald.
Alexandria was small and I had the strangest experience there. Normally when you take a car for a test drive, the salesman is all over you afterwards to buy. After I test drove the Santa Fe, they basically asked whether I liked the car and then that was it! And it wasn't busy there either when I went in. That said, I thought they were pretty good (despite the showroom) and almost bought there (since it is more convenient than Fitzgerald), but they didn't have the car I wanted in stock.
You may have had the same salesman as I did at Alexandria, as they told me that the Santa Fe would no longer offer the third row option. I mentioned it here on the board, and rumor has been dispelled (i.e., it will be offered in 2008).
Lastly, you make a valid point about auto climate controls - that was one of the reasons I didn't buy a Veracruz (since it made such a big jump in price). It actually reflects one of the genuine criticisms I have seen about Hyundai, namely, you have to take all upgrades in packages (e.g., you cannot just get an upgraded stereo - it has to come as part of a package).
Hope you had a good time at Fitzgerald and found a car you liked.
For what its worth, in 2004 I bought the extended warranty plan from Hyundai for my Hyundai XG350L at the time of sale, for $800.00 then, thinking it was bumper to bumper, as I thought the factory warranty was, after reading the factory warranty in the owners manual and then reading the extended 5 year warranty(which I received about a month later in the mail), I feel as though I made a misstake, neither warranty is bumper to bumper and excludes several items. I could have received most of the money back on the extended warranty in a given time but I didn`t. I`m not sure now that I will be keeping my car for 10 years, my eyes are starting to wander already and it has only been 3 yrs, although the XG350 has been an almost perfect car. Hope this helps.

I paid $1429 for the extended service and maintenance contract. I drive 25K miles/yr so having bumper-to-bumper for 4 years w/no mileage limit, plus having all my service appointments prepaid made good sense to me. I like the feeling of being finished with my car expenses. I honestly didn't realize the contract was a negotiable item since I was buying it through the business/finance manager.
The current offer I have is finance $10,682, "Out The Door Price" including tax
Should I hold out for $10,100 ? A second dealer told me they couldn't come within $500 of the $10,100 otd, and if the first dealer keeps his word at $10,682, I should go for it.
Tell me if you think I have squeezed them enough? Is the one dealer getting a bigger kickback or hungrier for their monthly quota? The dealer that gave up only offered $9,700 on the trade. I hope to make a decision today....before I put more miles on my trade. Luv Hyundai's. This will be my fourth! Pam
I know I'm looking for a certain exterior/interior color combo and am willing to drive within a reasonable distance to get it.
It just gets tiresome looking at 50 different websites looking for the combo I'm interested in...
Anybody willing to help me locate a Platinum Sage AWD Limited w/ premium package? I'd prefer a beige interior.
I'm willing to go out of state for a great deal...
They have identically-equipped Santa Fe Limited AWDs with beige interior either in stock or inbound in Arctic White, White Pearl, and Natural Khaki.
BTW, have you seen the gray interior? It's very attractive.
Link to Fitzmall
Were the costs upon re-entry restricted to an adminstration cost, federal and provincial taxes and an air conditional tax?
Thanks

It was cloudy here in Denver today and I wondered if those of you have been looking at these colors can give me their thoughts.
I give Fitzgerald two very big thumbs up!
Cheers,
Chris
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. After 3.5 months and 3500 miles I couldn't be happier with this car. Good luck!

With -$1900 in rebates ($1,000 standard, $500 financing, and $400 for recent college graduate), we paid $23,350 OTD on a platinum sage model. I feel like I got a great deal.
Took me awhile haggling with several dealers, but I found a good dealership in Jim Ellis Hyundai. No one else would come close. Put $8,000 down and took out a loan on the rest
As far as selection, 2007's have been out of production for over a month; it goes without saying that the supply and choices of options and colors are going down every day.
07 SF LTD with premium pkg w cargo tray

Thanks to all for their help in prices paid. Hope I help someone with my info. I'll update tomorrow on purchasing process.

I'm trying to figure out whether to finance through my CU and take a higher price on the vehicle or if whether we should go through Hyundai.
Antwerp
Price $24,871.00
Doc. (or other dealer fees) $695.00
Tax $2,045.28
NY Reg (plates) $200.00
Rebate $1,000.00
OTD Total $26,811.28
FitzMall
Price $25,233.00
Doc. (or other dealer fees) $500.00
Tax $2,058.64
NY Reg (plates) $200.00
Rebate $1,000.00
OTD Total $26,991.64
Balise
Price $26,689.00
Doc. (or other dealer fees) $290.00
Tax $2,158.32
NY Reg (plates) $94.00
Rebate $1,000.00
OTD Total $28,231.32
Towne
Price $25,548.00
Doc. (or other dealer fees) $189.00
Tax $2,058.96
NY Reg (plates) $200.00
Rebate $1,000.00
OTD Total $26,995.96
I told
I found the application to be VERY short. I guess they verify salary and SSN and go from there, because that was about all I filled in on the app.
Nateman7
-Peter
I too purchased my 07 Santa Fe from Garvey(Plattsburgh)this past October. Sales Dept. was great, they have a great service department as well. Been using them for basics only hope that's all I need to use them for. The only negative so far with the service department is the waiting room is tiny.
That's o.k. I still think it was a great value at the $28k I paid for it. But I learned my lesson, and I'll be reading these forums before I try to buy another new car.
Advice please...
Good Luck

Peter, that was an excellent, informative post. I was surprised to see that Fitz was $4 lower than Towne. Deals I'm familiar with have found Towne to be $800 better. Maybe Fitz has more of a "clear 'em out" going on and Fitz has offered a lot of pre-XM cars (couple hundred).
Nateman7
Here's the breakdown of the numbers:
MSRP: Limited AWD $28,145
Premium pkg $950
Floor mats $95
Freight $670
Final: $26,500 (before financing rebate)
Tax: $1805.62
Doc fee: $250
Title fee: $25.50
Rebate to dealer: $500
Monthly payment of 0% APR 36 month financing: $780
This is not a rock bottom price but it is still pretty good. And I was glad that I finished my car shopping on the 2nd day of visiting dealerships, whcih saves me numerous hours for other things. I went to Dennis Mitsubishi on Aug 31 but the desk manager did not want to let go a black on black Limited AWD with floor mats at the price I offered.
Again, thanks to all the info on this forum so I could accomplish this in a pretty efficient manner.
Appreciate all the people posting their buying experience and price and also Edmund's facilities for sharing info on the net.
Regards, Edgar
Chris
I'm somewhat nervous since it's no longer administered through Hyundai.
Bought our 2WD LTD ~2weeks ago and haven't pulled the trigger on an extended warranty/service plan.
Seeking advice, please help.
