Just wanted to share my experience with this Rick Case in FL in case anyone is even thinking about going there.
I've bought several cars in the past from various dealers and never have I seen any of them pull a bait and switch until now. Sure, I've had dealers give me crappy prices and not budge, but at least they did it from the beginning. I called around all the Honda dealers and asked them for their best price on a Honda Civic EX (was doing this for my parents). They all pretty much gave me the same exact price (Invoice + Destination (635) and TTL). Rick Case actually gave me a price of Invoice + 499 + TTL. I was also told that they bump up the Power Train warranty to 10 years. We went over this like 2-3 times, even had the guy give me the exact price with taxes etc...because we needed to get the cashier's check for the amount. Anyways, we show up and the circus started. First they couldn't find any paper work regarding the deal over the phone. Then they found it, but said the price was wrong. The best they could do was 1500 below MSRP and on top of the 500 fee we had to pay 635. So basically after we drove some 30+ miles they decided to shaft us. So we told them to shove the car up their (you know where) and left. I immediately called Braman Honda and got the car for Invoice + 635 + TTL. Came in, filled out the paper work and were on our way. No hassle at all.
i must agree with adrian...i purchased a 08 honda civic coupe lx with auto from pompano honda last month.......my price was 16,500.00 plus TTT.......i also went to rick case to shop before going to pompano honda.....rick case would not budge from msrp citing that the cars were in to high demand and that most honda's sell for at or close to msrp......rick case must think that all people are idiots.....pompano honda was worth the drive for me from where i live in the hollywood area........steve
Just closed at 17900 + TTL in SW Ma. Added extended warranty (96 mo / 120K) for another $980.
Emailed about 14 dealers, almost all said that this deal could not be done and was about $1k under everyone else.
Online (email) negotiating is definitely the way to go. (It really filters out the "real-time" emotional element - making the whole negotiation "clinical". And you are always in control.)
I still can't believe it. When I got my quote I was happy. I got quoted 17,150.00 from my sales person but when I got to the dealership I knew I was going to ask for a little more. I asked but I didn't really expect to get anything. I decided to really give it to them. I offered them 16,000 plus tax title and docs. It took about an hour but they finally agreed. They looked so hungry for customer, I should have asked for a little less. They tried to make me buy everything else while I was there like paint protection and car protection package but I kept insisting. I heard bad things about Long Beach Honda in California but I had a positive expirience. 16,000 plus tax title and docs
Can you please provide the break downs of your OTD price? Also the sales person's name. I'm looking to buy a Civic LX coupe. Thank you in advance for your response.
First off, I LOVE my Civic. First time Honda owner and I couldn't be happier! I was looking to get a deal on an 07 Accord but I was already in love with the Civic. Anyway... The whole point of this is to post the price paid for the car. I bought my car out of state so I don't remember some numbers. Most importantly, however, the sales price for the car was $19,108 (with some options). Not bad considering the invoice for the car alone is $19,055 according to edmunds and other various sites. I also got the trunk tray, wheel locks, and splash guards on the car. So I guess I got the car a little below invoice.
I FEEL like I got a deal on the car, but I don't see anyone posting about any EX-Ls
I kind of NEEDED the car ASAP so it didn't really matter. The dealership's first offer was about $23,700, I think... we told them "no" and they immediately came back with $19,700. I was very impressed... but my dad made me walk out of there that night without the car. They called us the next morning with the $19,108 offer.
Thank you very much for your information. Could you please email me at itzmekevin@gmail.com? I would like to ask you some other questions regarding the Civic deal. Thank you.
Hey Kevin. Yup, you got a good deal. But your dmv fee should be 206.75 and docs or normal. They range from 35 to 55. 55 being the max by california law and you can't gegotiate those. The dealerships charge everybody the same price. Your Out the door is to the penny. Good job on giving it to the man. Jack Mackok
hi gonzalez,i purchased a 08 civic lx 2dr coupe from pompano honda about a month ago.....my purchase price before TTT was 17,000.00......i traded in a 07 pontiac g6 that was paid for so my taxes on the civic were about 250.00...plus 359.00 dealer fee,150.00 for tag and title brought my otd price to17,759.00..OTD
Does anyone knows the hold back on Honda Civic? I want to negotiate from dealer invoice in south florida 16,801.00 at least 500.00 less I have no trade in.
I just wen to Rick Case for the 2008 Honda Civic and went to a really sour experience. I felt terrible like if I was trying to rip them off. thanks you for posting in this forum.
I am wanting to buy a civic EX in the NC area within the next few days and am looking to see what others are paying or have paid. I went to one dealer and really didn't get anywhere. Any input would be worthwhile. Haven't really tried putting it out there on line... in person vs. on line?
I purchased a 2008 Civic Ex sedan 5 speed for 17,500 in upstate New York. It wasn't that difficult because I had researched prices a long time both here and Consumer Reports. The report costs 14 but saved me hundreds. Anyway i pick up my car on Saturday. The taxes here are 8 % and the dealer fees with lic ran about 200. So out the door was 19,090 thereabouts. No matter where you are you can easily get these cars for invoice, which is in 17855.Tis the season for buying a car. Hope this helps and go out by the end of the year they are making deals you can't believe. Good luck.
I forgot to mention that you can easily get quotes bt Email if you send out like to 6 in your area. You should get at least 2 right away, these should be invoice or close to it.Then visit the one's you choose in person and you can do better. I was pleased with how easy this process was. Also try to focus on one trim line and be flexible with cars on the lot. Most dealers near me were fully stocked with all colors and trim lines.
i forgot to say that I am looking for an automatic EX. I know the manual are less but am not sure how much less. I am thinking about $700. I will be heading out soon Thanks!
I do not think I mentioned to you just a note of thanks for the referral to Lute Riley and Hussein. We bought a civic from him and Lute Riley. They matched the deal that I had with John Eagle with the most important thing being they actually had the car in stock. Dishonest John Eagle worked our deal for a week without having the car. After I was happy with the deal THEN they said they did not have the car and it would be 3-4 more days as they traded for one and I would have to pay extra for what ever "accessories" the "other dealer" puts on it. This was after we negotiated the price and I spec'ed out no accessories. They said they were working with the hopes of getting a new delivery of Civics in, which they had not. I dropped John Eagle, called your guy Hussein ans asked them to match the deal, which they did AND they HAD THE CAR! Had it done in a day and they delivered it to Burleson from Richardson. Good stuff. We never set foot in the dealership.
If you are in the Metroplex give Lute Riley and salesman Hussein a shot. IF nothing else they have the cars on the lot!
The invoice price included the destination charge of 635. True the auto is like 7/ 8 hundred more but that too can be negotiated. They have about 80% automatics on the lot so they are ripe for picking. The ttl of 19092 was out the door done. Note the tax in NY is 8 percent included. i think its a great deal but trust me you can do the same thing. They are hungry and the economy isn't great so go low and you will be surprised the deal you can make. good luck.
okay, all of you civic EX-automatic buyers - I would really like to know what people have paid for their cars. I walked away last night and today due to not thinking the deal was a good one. I had done my homework and stood by for what I believed in, so it would be nice to hear someone say what they paid Tax, title and drive out for an 08 civic ex-automatic. thanks all!
Man! What is wrong with these dealers here? Tried to email 8-10 dealers for several weeks now, with only gratuitous replies (courtesy replies consisting of high end offers for the LX; which I got a better price in person at the first of the month). The very best that I could do was $17,150 and $17,200 +ttl in person. These guys would not budge off the price. They admitted that the Civic would sell for $17760 invoice or whatever the MSRP came to ($18,xxx) at any dealer in the country; but refused to admit that it could be sold for $16,200-$16,300 here. They claim that where these prices were, there must be Honda dealers at every corner where these cars were sold at. I just think that they're too greedy here. I see many Toyota Corollas on the road here and not too many Civics (quite a few Accords though), I did see where they sold a Honda Civic A/T LX Coupe for $17,000 +ttl the other day and the salesman said the customer haggled hard. I actually offered $17,000 +ttl and they said that they couldn't do it. Any ideas on how to get a better price? I walked away tonight also.
Hello, here in Gresham, Oregon, I just bought a LX 4dr. with The All Season Protection Package, the glass etching and vehicle theft registration, Dent Zone dent repair and door edge gaurds.
..........$17,150 before title, reg. .....Grand Total....
Is there a particular site that others have used to get on line quotes for cars?I am interested in my own area and surrounding areas. I have never done this before and am not sure how to go about it. How do you correspond with the dealerships?- via email or via the phone? I have noticed on this forum that many people have purchased in this way, and due to time I now need to go this route if it is worthwhile.
hi all. have an offer good until monday for 17,800 including destination but not tax and other charges. is this a good deal? please help! this is my first time buying a car. thanks.
Hi, I just bought the same car. 2008 Civic LX AT Sedan.
The base price was 15,688.
Throw in a 8/120 Honda Care Warranty, CilaJet (cilajet.com) exterior/interior protection and GAP coverage. My total out of door price amount was 19,175.
Cannot tell without knowing the dealer charge...... Some dealer will offer you a low price with higher dealer charge (e.g. few hundred dollars below invoice with a high dealer document fee to bring your final cost well above invoice). I just bought a ex 4dr auto with navigation for approximately $70 over invoice (including dealer charge) + TTL + 2.9% APR.
hi all. i am in upstate NY. the only other add ons are tax, $45 doc fee, $10 inspection, $12.50 tire reclycling, and license plates. i was pretty honest with them, said 'hey, ive done my research, this is the deal other people are getting, this is what i want, and ive contacted all dealers within 2 hours to find out who can do it. if you can, i can come out today'. no one could come close to this-- 18,500 was closest they could do. i was happy.
This was in the greater Cleveland/Akron area. Two dealers by email were able to meet this price, and I went with the first to offer it. The other dealers claimed this was way below their invoice, and would not match.
To that figure I added only local & state sales tax.
Hi Jack Wonderful....I am looking for a good deal on a Honda 4 dr Lx and am ready to deal...Can you email me at living_well4u@yahoo.com.sg? the name of the salesman and the dealer contact? Thank you so much.
Just bought my 2008 Honda Civic LX Automatic Coupe! Heres the breakdown...
2008 Honda Civic LX Automatic Coupe MSRP 18,195.00 Invoice 16,801.00
I got the car for 16,147.00
Total Out the Door price was 17,550.00! (including window tint)
650 below invoice was as great of a price as I could get in Houston.
If anyone, ANYONE is looking to get a new HONDA right now, head out to the new Honda Dealership in Katy! Email me if you need the name of the person I talked too, we agreed to terms over the phone, I went in and within 20 minutes we had the numbers agreed on and there were no problems whatsoever. Great dealership, maybe its because theyre new, but whatever the case, it was a great deal and im very happy with my new CIVIC!
P.S. you also get lifetime oil changes for free and a 7 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty with every new car purchase! :shades:
Just bought a Royal Blue Civic LX 4 door Automatic in Chicagoland.
I just went to the Honda website, selected 8 dealers and asked for quotes. After sending out those I requests, I just went with the dealers who gave me a decent quote up front.
MSRP (with destination): 18,395 Invoice (with destination) 16,984 I paid 16,550 which led to an out the door price (title, taxes, etc.) of just under $18K.
I might have left a little bit of $ on the table, but I only tried negotiating for a couple of days via e-mail. It was reasonably painless once I arrived at the dealership -> took about 1/2 hour to get the car, but about 20 minutes of that time was waiting to get the snow washed off the car.
I just scored the best deal. I've been reading all the information on prices on edmunds to find out how low I can get my 2008 Civic LX sedan. Thanks for all the advise guys and gals. I scored. I have a breakdown for eveybody 15,263.13 for the car 635.00 for shipping and handleling (i tried to get out of this one but they said no) 1316.13 for tax ( I live in los angeles county so my rate is 8.25%) 203.75 for California fee's and registration 55.00 for Documentation (i heard that it's from 35.00 to 55.00 but they said 55.00)

oh yeah, I got it at Long Beach Honda, California. It was the last deal of the night. I got out at 10:15pm right before New Years.
Looks like about what they are going for here in middle GA. Low $16s for LXs, low $18s for EXs. Even the local paper adds had manual 4-door LXs for $16,200!! Good place to start "haggling"!
I have been watching the Hondas since summer (almost bought one in Sep at the "big" model year end-closeout but didn't think it was quite as good a deal as I wanted) and the past 3 days is about the best I've seen so I broke down and got mine Sunday.
Had them down to 18,200 on a fully loaded 4-door automatic EX (everything but nav system and leather) and added the wing spolier and ground effects package, which put me up to the mid $19s.

Ive seen others get better deals but here in Houston its been tough to get below invoice. 400 below invoice is the best I have been able to do so far.
Good or not? Should I wait until January or buy now at the years end?
