$29669, not $28669. The dealer would lose $$$, it is impossible for 07 EXL R&N :confuse:
  • mary36mary36 Member Posts: 52
NO... it was $28,669 for an EXL R&N.
Got the paperwork right in front of me.

I'm not sure about the EX-L with RES, but we picked up a standard EX-L last week for $26053 +TTL & dealer fee ($119).

But at I must say, we had a few things working in our favor:
    > It was the end of the month(yesterday) on a Sunday at closing time

    > We did all our negotiations via phone/email

    > I had been in communication with them for about a month... they really wanted to close the deal

    > Not sure if this helped, but I happened to know the wife of one of the managers

Overall a great experience... and they only have one R&N left (white).

Just wondering what is R&N and TTL?

Could you please let me what was the on road price?
  • mary36mary36 Member Posts: 52
    R&N = DVD + NAVIGATION

    TTL = tax, title, license

OTD = out the door price (or final price) after paying TTL

    ;)

    Thanks. Appreciate the quick reply.

One last question. Who is this dealer? I think I missed it.

So far the best quote for a 2007 Odyssey EXL (without RES nor NAV) I got in NY Metro is as follows

--Base $26230 (with Destination)+ TTL, The Total price would be around 28,850, since the NY tax rate is high.

Is that a fair deal? Please share what you guys think?
  • nucarnucar Member Posts: 1
Mary36--good job on your new Ody--just wanted to comment on an earlier post you made--there are others out there that have gotten a 2007 Ody w/RES and NAV for a better price than "Strikera55" got (the post that you referenced that I am replying to here).

For example--check out msg#16271 from "newody07" who bought back on AUG 31--total OTD price was $29,300 which included mudguards, floormats, wheel-locks, and pinstriping--everything included--this price was better than Strikera55 got when you figure in the dealer transfer fee for their desired color, and the doc fee, and mudguard fee.

Also, remember that at times when a customer buys other add-ons that are high profit margin (undercoating, stainguard, etc.) for the dealer or even when they go thru the dealer's financing (another great profit center for the dealer) they can sometimes get a lower price than what others are able to negotiate.

I think when folks trade-in a vehicle and don't disclose that in their postings on this site it also skews the bottom line pricing that others can expect to get because the dealer can drop the selling price with the knowledge that they are making quite a bit when they will resell the trade-in.

Just my thoughts...Again--congrats on your purchase and great price...

Got initial quote of ~32.6 otd and managed to get it just under 32K from Redwood City, CA for color on lot(midnight blue/grey)
    Breakup is approximately 29.3+ttl= 31999.

Try Metro Honda, Jersey City. I got mine (Plain EXL) in Aug end for 28.3 (including all taxes]

    Good Luck

Yup, got the check Saturday and went shopping Sunday.

We both swore up and down that we would never ever never buy
a minivan. But 7 mo. old twins and the mother-in-law saying
she's visiting in three weeks can quickly change one's mind.

My wife got cold feet about the NAV at the last moment but
that got straightened out after a lot of whining on my part.
We decided not to wait. You can go crazy trying to second
guess them and it just isn't worth it. Besides, there
already wasn't much available with the grey leather and
after seeing the dirty carpets in the olive leather models,
    no thanks.

So, Odyssey w/RES+NAV, Ocean Mist, $29680 + TTL, $31670 OTD.
We didn't get any extras but for S. Florida, not too bad.
The highest quote was $32650 OTD. We're satisfied with the price and the low-pressure dealer(Pompano Honda). Our
    thanks to the board.

Now to figure out the stereo/nav/dvd controls ...

Why not go to another dealer ? There are plenty of EX-L RES's in stock at other NJ dealers. Email me at lall_joe at hotmail.com if you need names of dealers / salespeople ...

Does the price include the 2000usd incentive?
Who can tell if the quote (25635) i got include incentive or not?

We purchased an 07 Odyssey Touring with DVD & NAVI (R&N) on 09/30. We wanted to hold out until the 08's arrived, in order to purchase a Touring w/out PAX and to obtain the body changes; i.e. grill protection for condenser. However, the pricing on the 07 clearance for the Ody was too good to not take advantage of.

We obtained the Touring with DVD & Navi, door edge guards, wheel locks, pin striping, and wheel well paint/protection (plus 2 full tanks of gas and 2 free oil changes) for

    $32, 682.57 (includes $635 destination)+
    $599.99 dealer fee +
    $2065 FL tax =
    $35,348 OTD.

I thought this was a great price. Plus, I have no buyers remorse, which is my usual pitfall!

We took advantage of the $2k factory to dealer rebate plus the 2% holdback ($795) off the dealer invoice ($35,388).

I did purchase a 5 year, unlimited mile road hazard warranty for $280. Though, I am always very leary, I was assured it will cover the PAX tires for hazards. We shall see. Figure, if it covers one tire ($350), then I come out ahead (?)

I have considered ordering an aftermarket stainless steel grill insert kit from www.cloud-rider.com; $210 for upper and lower grills.

Does anyone have any insight on the cloud-rider product? Also, any feedback on my pricing?

Does anyone know what October's dealer incentives look like? Is the $2K back? What about the incentive for financing?

Got real close on a purchase of an EXL, with RES and NAV and cargo tray (no wheel locks or flaps) for $31,700 OTD but was told we needed to finance at that price or they would lose money. I am usually skeptical but did believe them. Would have done the deal but they did not have our color(tan). That was late September. Wondering if I should expect the same, better or worse deal now that it's October.

    Thanks in advance.
  • tampahondatampahonda Member Posts: 31
I purchased on 09/30, because the $2k rebate was supposedly going away 10/01. According to Edmunds.com, etc, the rebate/incentive is good through 10/31. I would call AHFC and check with them. The only incentives posted on AHFC website is the 2.9-4.9% APR, which cannot combined with other offers. So, our deal would have been $32,680 Cash (my financing and $2k rebate) OR $34,680 w/ 4.9% APR.
  • mary36mary36 Member Posts: 52
We were able to get the 2k incentive PLUS a decent interest rate (5.64% for 63 mo).
  • vfontevfonte Member Posts: 3
The dealer invoice according to Kelly's Blue book on a EX-L without DVD or Nav is $28,793 - 520 (dealer hold back) - $2000 = $26,273 which would include destination charge 635 so a base price of $25,638 is pretty much cost for a dealer.
  • misterjohnnymisterjohnny Member Posts: 41
Bought a Midnight Blue 2007 EX for 24,044 + tax, title, license.
Did not include mud flaps or wheel locks (you can keep your wheel locks, they've caused me nothing but headaches trying to find the key!)

Purchased in Los Angeles. Had a tough time finding a Midnight Blue or Ocean Mist one. Lots of slate green offers.
  • mazingamazinga Member Posts: 2
Bought a Nimbus Gray 2007 Touring with Nav in NJ
    32887 + Dest. + TTL.
Most of colors were available for Touring with Nav.
  • flutter22flutter22 Member Posts: 1
We were given a price of $28,200 OTD (incl 6.5% tax, transfer tag, and title) on an EX-L without Nav and DVD. The dealer initially told us we could get that price with 4.9% financing, but when we went back he changed his story, so we did not buy the car. After reading here, I see most people were not able to get the special financing, so maybe this was a good deal?

Has anyone gone through the Costco auto buying program? We are going to try a dealer through that next. They said they can give us the internet price or the costco deal with the special financing, so we would have to see which worked out to lower payments. Trying to buy a new car is so stressful!
  • dreamcar5dreamcar5 Member Posts: 69
Yes, the best rate from costco is 5.5% via Capital One. But if you can pay off the loan in 6 months, the credit card from Citi offer you 3% as balance transfer.
  • dsaltzmandsaltzman Member Posts: 5
Can't tell you about Costco, but your OTD price is pretty close to what we paid. See entry 16609. (under 28,100 OTD, but tax is less in Maryland).

Regarding stress, in my opinion, the more you try to get down to the absolutely lowest, rock bottom price, and the more you see the car salesman as your mortal enemy instead of just a guy trying to make a few bucks, the more the stress level goes up -- way up. In my case, I started haggling over mud guards. When I realized that I had everything I wanted in the deal but these things, I looked at their cost ($111) and then thought about the stress of putting the deal back in play over this small amount and it was a no-brainer: I'll pay $111 to walk away smiling and without feeling bruised from battle. In all honesty, I don't think the dealer would have dug his heels in over the mud guards, but I know myself and I know what stresses me out, so I paid for the mudguards, shook hands and smiled.

In short, peace of mind has a dollar value that can outweigh the dollar value of a set of mud guards.

So, if you think you are getting a pretty good deal, and you are checking around on Edmunds to make sure your price is in the ballpark, then you probably are getting a pretty good deal. My advice, then, is to get the deal in writing, with a VIN#, shake hands, and drive away smiling.

    Good luck!

Help. I live in the Kansas City area and have been unable to get a quote anywhere close to 31,600 OTD which was my target. Any one out there with experience in this market.
  • chadq100chadq100 Member Posts: 2
Is this a good offer? I live in Nashville, TN and was quoted the following price for an EX (with pin stripes and mud flaps):

Price $24,577, processing fee $298, Davidson Co. Tags $91.50, Business tax $74.63,State Tax $1,746.47,and local tax of $88 for a total of $26,875.60.

I received a very similar offer from a second dealer.

Let me know what you think.
Should I try for something lower?
I used the method described in #16303 and this was the first communication I received.
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
This sounds reasonable. I'm assuming this price is without the 2.9% APR, right?
  • chadq100chadq100 Member Posts: 2
Correct, I currently have a Capitol One offer of 6.25. I will see if the dealer can do better.

Very Very Bad experience from White Plains Honda
I made a deal with white Plains Honda for 2007 EXL honda odyssey Midnight Blue (OTD) $28100 and delear asked me to reach the delearship before the closing time. When we reached there the manager and sales person was compelling me to take green clour odyssey which already has more than 100 miles on it. I didn’t agree with it. Finally they agreed to give me the blue and they made me to signe the sales paper and I gave my credit card for advance payment. I was waiting for the processing and copy of my sales paper which I signed. Suddenly another person came to me and said “he is not going to give me the blue van”, for which they made me signed.
In this situation what I have to do and what is the next step to stop playing with customers.

For those in the Wash D.C.- Baltimore metro area, just got a Midnight Blue EXL RES w/mudguards, floormats, wheel-locks, and pinstriping for an OTD price of 29,090. That was the best I was able to get in this area and shopped 10 dealers.

Seems like they are trying to take advantage of you. I would cancel the transaction and write a letter to Honda corporate and let them know that one of their dealerships is using deceptive practices. I would CC as many executives as you can find. You can also file with the Better Business Bureau - which won't do much other than have it logged somewhere.

Had a great experience with O'Donnell Honda outside Baltimore: no games. No push for add-ons--even at the "finance guy" stage.

    EX in Nimbus Grey

$25147 (included $2000 rebate, processing fees, delivery charges, mud flaps, cargo tray, and wheel locks) TTL $1479 (MD 5% tax). OTD price - $26626. Got financing through them, was told it would be 6.09% for 60 months with no down payment. Surprised to see that it was lowered to 5.69% on the paperwork. There was no trade-in or expensive add-on factor at play.

I'm visiting a non-honda dealer who has an EX-L (no dvd, no nav, dont know extra options) for sale. He's asking 24k for a van thats done 13k miles. I have been watching this forum about 2007 buying experiences. I even approached a dealer a few weeks ago for a dry-run on a 2007. Since this is a used car, what is your opinion on a price (the car has been sitting for 3 months on his lot and has had one price reduction). The 2007 EX-L's seem to be hitting 25,500-26,500 on this forum, what should be my low-ball for the 2006 and where do you think it should settle.
I cant seem to find closed sale figures at ebay for a similar van. Edmunds and kbb prices for this van is almost at the 2007 price levels being reported here.
    Thanks!

That's priced about right and demonstrates why used Hondas are not a real good used vehicle value.
  • mary36mary36 Member Posts: 52
We ALWAYS buy used but considering 05-06 pricing, we couldn't justify paying the same amount (and sometimes more) when we could get NEW for just about the same price.

    We paid $28,669 for a NEW EX-L R&N.
Carmax gave us quotes around the same price (give or take a couple thousand) for USED.

It was a no brainer. Buy NEW and start fresh with zero miles.
