I'll post the picture after I do a little tune-up with my courtesy light and neon light. It seem not bright enough somehow. :P Maybe, I assume too much brightness :shades:
The Auxilary I plan used it for the Ipod. It look more clean and professional this way. Without the jack and wire hanging every direction. If you look at the image very careful. Look above the white sticky pad on your right. You will see black antennae far foward to the end windshield. Trust me, the reception is GREAT at that location, because the wide angle of this windshield. The power source is from the 12v socket next to receiver Siruis. It attach back there. If you need more angle picture. I will happy to take it for you.
PS. That sticky white pad really work. I put my sunglass, cellphone on it. Everytime I hit G-force at a turn, 95% time never fall off.
Our 2006 Civic car is all snap-on piece. Each piece of the dashboard hold by one screw and everything else is a snap-on. It not complicated like the older model. You just have to follow some direction from the installation guide. For example:To remove the middle console. You must move the shift gear to "D" drive. Make sure the brake is on. Your foot is on the brake. :P
The local dealer wasn't helpful. I would like to know what is involved in installation of remote locking system. I have to get in first and then unlock other doors with the switch on the driver's door. I would like to just 'click'. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
So, you are using the FM transmitter for playback? I've tried that and the aux in and the aux in is so much better. I don't have an Ipod yet...may not get one since there is so much differing content on the Sat Rad.
That white patch...just what is it called and where did you get it. Interesting idea.

Woooow, This the longest message I ever give. I hope this help :P
There advantage and disadvantage with FM transmitter. I could hear static sometime, yet sometime very clear in sound. I kinder enjoyed both way. I splice the aux behind the console to created two jack. One connected to Siruis Receiver, other for jack for future used w/Ipod or Mp3 player.
I could either used both way now
The white pad you could get it from Bestbuy, Target store.
To doan4u. Perhaps I wasn't specific about the problem. Presently,I have no remote lock/unlock option on my 2003 Civic LX. I unlock the door with a key, then I push a switch to open the rest of the doors or pull a lever to open the trunk. I called a local dealer who told me that it was too expensive to install the remote option .... at least $500.00 plus. I am looking an inexpensive alternative if there is one. I believe that all the necessary wiring is there and perhaps I could get a 'kit' and install it myself .... or perhaps, this is too big of a job. Thanks.
Tried to visit a car alarm store. The best one, and cheapest always the Moma and Papa store. I have friends used keyless lock/unlock entry for 99 civic. I really don't how much it cost these days. I assume it should be cheaper than the dealership. :P
Sorry, I was confused myself too. I assume it was Honda Civic LX 2006 model.
The trunk ideas wise of remote open is out their. I have seen it on another forum. Let me look for it if you wish.
Thanks doan4u, In my initial post I omitted this crucial phrase which should be the header ..."Installation of a remote locks on 2003 Civic LX (auto). My LX has electric locks but no 'remote'. Thanks for your patience and advice. I agree, others would benefit by your informative instructions .....and these are always appreciated.
Got my XM installed yesterday, and the dealer was as good as his word: NO CHARGE. (I was wondering if there was going to be some kind of 'misunderstanding' when i went to pick it up, and I'd be presented with a bill; didn't happen.)
I'm thrilled with this level of customer service, and I'd recommend this dealer to anybody within reasonable distance: Hondaland of Tampa on Florida Avenue.
Contacted local people at CarTunes (they install radios and alarm systems in Clearwater, FL). Was told that it will cost $250.00 including activator in the trunk. Thanks again.
Here the complete picture of project. I have two option. I install Hond Courtesy light, it all blue, wasn't very bright blue. Now I put a secondary light w/ blue neon switch. Here the custom light.
I know that spot behind the shifter is a 'logical' place for a radio. I tried it myself, but it's something you have lean way over for to change the station. It's behind the shifter and low.
My solution was to run wires under where the steering wheel is and up to the left side, right under the air vent and I actually place my XM unit IN the little hole that is there for...well, whatever you would put there I guess.
When I am driving, I just slide my left hand off the wheel, and change the station. The display is also really easy to read there.
I know what you mean. I tried to put it above my dashboard. It keep falling off. I tried industrial strenght double bond sticky. It stil fall off because hot heat. I don't want to drill anything on my car. My last option is where the 12v socket located. It very tight, bond stick to that location. I am able to reach it no problem. I think it all depend on a person body shape. My arm is kinder long in which it could reach it. I think whatever work for a person, it ok.
Second, The XM/Siruis radio come with a wireless remote. I could change the channel. There only 3-4 channel I listen to.
Funny, the area you put your radio is where my 12 disk CD changer remote is. :P :shades:
My XM unit is small. I used velcro type stuff, stuck it to the inside of that hole and to the 'vent' attachment which fits just inside that hole..and stuck them together. Now it stays secure.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I tried to follow your example when the same exact thing just happened to me--bought a new civic hybrid and the salesperson assured me and my partner that all we had to do was call XM and subscribe. (She said this multiple times; there was no talk of an option or additional equipment). When I politely but persistently pointed out the mistake to the dealership, and asked them to waive the installation fees, the best they would do for me is "cost"-around $245. The accounts manager I was talking to even admitted that at least one customer a week calls them upset about this issue--but I guess he doesn't care enough to a)make it right with the customer b)make sure the salespeople have the right information or c)make sure the salespeople tell the truth. I'm going to file a complaint with Honda USA, but I don't really expect it to go anywhere. Two thumbs down for WINDY CITY HONDA in Chicago (windycityhonda.com). Terrible customer service and misleading sales tactics. And they seemed so nice! (Famous last words, I know)....
My wife and I live in the Chicagoland area and we too were told the same thing by the salesman. Later we found out we had to pay $610 for the install. I am in the process of complaining to the dealership, after that I go to Honda and the Better Business Bureau. Keep up the good fight, they will crack sooner or later. We bought our hybrid at Honda of Oak Lawn on 95th Street. I'll keep the group posted. :lemon:
I don't know if you've gotten an answer yet, but you should be able to buy a Genuine Honda remote lock system for your 03 LX Civic for about $170 ($244 installed). If you shop around you should be able to get it cheaper because it's discontinued and dealers should want to get rid of their inventory. If you're willing to install yourself check online at places like handa-accessories.com (I have no affiliation with this place).
The part you want to order is 08E60-S5D-100.
Install time estimate is 1 hour ($75-85 at most dealers).
Thanks to all of you who were helpful. CarTunes in Clearwater installed the locks ($220.00 OTD). It took 2.5 hours or perhaps less. Doors lock/unlock well. The trunk has about a 5 seconds delay. Great convenience. Thanks again.
I would like to research the possibility of installing remote trunk release for my 2006 Civic LX Sedan. This is a standard feature for the EX version but not for the LX. If anyone had more info on this please let me know, thank you
Does anyone know where to find adapters to put on the honda speaker plug to make it into the pos/neg terminals for aftermarket speakers?? I cannot find any for the 2006 civic (LX Coupe).
There no such products exist yet. Vendor are stil working on it. You could purchase the adaptor at Honda dealership. I know allots people splice the adaptor for aftermarket speaker add-on.
My 18 year old son and I are looking at a Honda Civic Si 2002 with an Acura RSX S type engine. It is online (ebay), and is in Texas, while we are in Georgia. I cannot really understand why a different engine would be put into the Civic! Can you tell me what I need to look out for? Thank you so much.
My son and I are looking at a 2002 Honda Civic Si which has an Acura RSX S type engine in it. The shift knob has 6 speeds, and the speedometer reflects the higher mph. We are in GA and the car is in TX, and I am a bit leery of this. Any suggestions on how we can evaluate the car? Honda won't do so because of the modifications. The odometer reads 35000, but I wonder if this is accurate. I know nothing about putting one car's engine in another car's chassis (obviously!)
I just bought a civic si and am considering getting fog lights installed, in part b/c i live in sf. Please excuse the following stupid question: Are they only for looks or will they really come in handy in san francisco?
Also, does is there any reason to buy the warranty/lojack package the manufac is trying to sell me?
And finally, does anyone have any experience with Gieco MBI insurance? Thank you.
I don't wanna wait for my EX AT w/nav in galaxy grey, it will take a while with no guarantee that they'll find one. I'm considering just buying an EX AT, I hear you can get better prices and deals on the regular EX's. But I NEED a navi, I drive all day long to places I have no clue how to get to. I want to know if anyone has installed a pioneer AVIC-Z1, based on what I've read out on the web, its a better system (with way more features) than the factory nav system, and from the pics I've seen, fits in perfectly. I'm concerned about the installation, its probably very difficult, so I won't be doing it. But I can't find anyone who has done this, what did the entire project cost? With the mods for the steering wheel controls, etc... If I can get OTD with an EX AT for 19000, and put the system in for 2000, I pay less than a stock ex navi and end up with a better system.
I just got my 2006 Civic EX coupe and would like to customize it. Where can I get the stick on graphics that complement it's beauty.Coming from an SUV it's more fun than any gas guzzler. You don't have to have 200 hp to enjoy driving. The transmission specs says it is a 5 speed automatic but there are only 4 positions of shifter?Leaving it in D3 is really zippy. At 50 mph in D it is only doing 1500 rpm which is loafing along. The sound system is awesome and I want to go drive somewhere, anywhere there is a twisty road.ZOOM ZOOM take that Mazda.
I know the intentions are to be helpful, but please do not post contact information to dealerships. See the Rules of the Road linked on the left. I had to remove a post, I'm sorry.
Will it void the manufacturing warranty if I install parts myself? such as cold air intake. Also,do you have to specify custom options and accessories when you place the deposit to order a civic or will most dealers make the changes locally in the service department? I know the usual add-on accessories such as rust proof and whatnots. When i ask about options and accessories, i'm referring to adding alloy wheels, body kits, spoilers, fog lights, tinting, and the such. I'd like to do tinting for sure, but not sure how much they will charge. Body kits and spoilers is questionable at the moment. Anyone have any similar experiences? Thanks for all the help!!
i have a 06 civic coupe and have the wheels replaced by an 18" aftermarket.. i can certainly feel it is a bit heavier now, is it natural or do you guys think there's some problem with the installation?
does anybody know what's the best aftermarket spring to compliment a tokico shocks? i'm tryn to replace my stock and in need of your precious opinion. its an 06 civic coupe.
I recently noticed that neither of my two Verizon cell phone chargers would power on either APS. As they powered on another vehicle I suspected a blown fuse.
The Honda dealer confirmed my suspicion and replaced the fuse. The technician stated that for some reason Verizon chargers are incompatible with the Honda power systems and he has seen several such cases on various Honda models. He suggested using a Y adapter or a non Verizon charger.
I took his advice and purchased a non Verizon charger and so far no problem. I'm curious as to whether anyone else has or has had this problem.
installing aftermarket products will not void a warranty, unless a dealer can prove that the modification caused the failure of a warranted part (eg, installed nitrous and the engine blew up).
The Magnusson Moss provisions are contained in Title 15 US Code Chapter 50 Section 2302 (c):
(c) No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection may be waived by the Commission if -
(1) the warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and
(2) the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest.
The above section prohibits a warrantor from requiring use of purchased parts from the same source as the original equipment or some other specified source . It allows use of aftermarket purchased parts from other sources unless the Federal Trade Commission has granted to the warrantor a waiver of this section of the law.
Greetings -- I'm looking for input on how to make my 04 EX 5-spd (1.7 vtec) more fun to drive; it's a 4-dr in black that sees about 50 miles of fairly curve-y, empty road on the daily commute, and, as one who loves to drive, I see this as an opportunity ... I've got the audio system covered.
Any ways to boost torque? The general lack of a low-end is my only real complaint about the car.
What's the best way to get more horses, without replacing the engine computer? Computer add-on? Air intake, performance muffler, headers? Are they going to make a measurable difference? Something else?
Also, I want a pleasing exhaust growl, not a sputtering/blasting one. Something closer to a well-tuned TR6 in acceleration, if you know what I mean. Recommendations of what to seek, avoid?
Handling: I'm thinking lower the car by 1" to 1.5", replacing the OEM 195/60-15 Potenzas with Michelin Exalto A/S 205/60-15s. If they fit, I'd put on the 225s. (The car has the Honda 15" 5-spoke alloys; they're good enough, right? Not right?) Also, struts/stabilizers and performance shocks. Thoughts?
Hello, has anyone found aftermarket windshield wiper blades for the 2006 Civic Hybrid? The ones that came with the car were incredibly streaky. Got those replaced by Honda service and those only lasted a couple of weeks before they got streaky. Can anyone help?

Some window tinting is planned, too.
Thanks in advance for your help. John
Thanks,
