There is a greater problem looming however. Honda has increased production across the board, as a result of increased production there is a glut of new Honda vehicles available. Gone are the days when Honda was happy selling 700,000 units when both the consumer and dealer were happy to sell the car at MSRP. Because when it came time to sell, the car was worth it's weight in gold. Resale values used to be pretty high, but now - not so much. Wholesale auction prices on Honda lease returns has taken a hit in the last year.
Welcome to the new Honda, we're no better then Toyota now.
Regarding resale values, I know we started our search for a Touring at Carmax. But when we saw their "no haggle price" on used vehicles such as this: http://www.carmax.com/dyn/factsheet/factsheet.aspx?KNo=0 selling for what we could purchase a brand new one for, we just shook our head. I guess that is further proof to the glut of new vehicles sitting on the lot.
Hey, let's go the Midway for a beer!!

Thank you for any help!!!!
Has anyone purchased a 2008 Odyssey EXL with RES or EXL with RES/NAV in the past month. Either at AutoPark and or Leith. We are looking to purchase in the next week or so and want to compare sales price without trade in value included. I have seen prices in the range of $28k - $30K depending on with or w/o Nav. MSRP is 34,445 and 36,445(with Nav)
Thank you for any help!!!!

Used Consumer Reports pricing info + what I leared in this forum to get to this price.
Trailer hitch will be installed next week.
Dealer did not like the fact that I was not financing through them, but so what?
I paid $25840
+ 635 Dest Fee
+ 399 Doc Fee
+ 6% Gwinnett Sales Tax
+ 28 Title Fee
+ 3 Lemon Law Fee
I told them that I had 4.5% financing available from an outside source (I actually only had 4.94%) and they offered me 4.19%.
The car was the basic EXL with the dealer options of special paint protection, mud guards, and sunroof visor. These options are MSRP of $1,095.00 at this dealership. He quickly offered me these options for $400.00 when I balked. He eventually worked it out and we got to the agreed to price when I said that I did not want any of the options and would like for him to remove them.
Good luck with your purchase(s). I would definetly recommend going to this dealership.
Bought an EXL from AutoPark Honda (they are owned by the same umbrella company as Leith Honda). See my posts in this thread (18639 and 18941) on steps I took to get my price. I found them to be great to deal with once you had a firm quote from a competitor in hand. The original offers they gave through the quote generation tool on Honda.com were at least $1K greater.
When I went to sign the papers, just for laughs I asked them to value my trade (99 Accord with 105K miles and original timing belt). They offered $4K less than I ended up selling it for on Craigslist a week later. Of course, they were just going to wholesale auction my old car - so I wasnt expecting a good offer. Still amazed that a 9 yr old Accord (in need of a $700 service) sold for 35% of its original purchase price.
exl with res and nav no trade in's
what is your opinionabout the deal
thanks
Thanks.
We bought our Pilot that way and it made a big difference.
$29,800
+ 500 Protection Package (Wheel Locks, Mudguards, Trunk mat, etc)
+ TTL
I think it was around $6500 under MSRP so I thought it was a decent deal. BTW they would not do 2.9 financing at that price.
Thanks.
My understanding is that it is unusual for Honda to offer dealer incentives. That only recently have Odysseys sold for less than MSRP. Is that correct?
From reading the entries here it appears that ~$35,000 base price + dest and 0.9% 36 month financing is possible for a Touring. Is that correct? Is it likely that better deals would be available at the end of the model year? At the end of the calendar year?
In looking at dealer inventories, it appears that our local dealer (Duncan Honda, Christiansburg VA) has an unusual number of Tourings (11). The Blacksburg/Christmas area is approx 60,000 people. However. it appears that none of them is Silver w/o PAX. Would that make any difference?
As I understand it, it's either ~$35,000 and 0.9% financing or ~$34,000 and normal financing, but the current dealer incentives expire in July.
We would really like to wait up to a year (paying off a kid's school loan), but can buy earlier to take advantage of a good deal.
I guess I'm looking for opinions on whether or not we should take advantage of these dealer incentives, or are they likely to continue or even get better.
Is it likely? Absolutely. Is it also likely they eliminate the current incentives? Absolutely. Kind of a tough call. As the previous post mentions, prices are pretty good right now. We bought our Touring a couple weeks ago for close to $34K + ttl. That's $6K under MSRP (although that is not a good barometer of a good deal).
I imagine dealers will likely have "end of year clearance", "model year closeouts", "inventory reduction" sales. The question is how much of a "sale" it will really be. That said, it's certainly no secret the economy is in the toilet, and people aren't exactly lining up to purchase $40K vehicles. We purchased our Ody during a weekday, and had the ENTIRE dealership to ourselves. The place was a ghost town. So it would not surprise me if the incentives at least continue, if not get sweeter as the year progresses.
Thanks,
