Can you recommend a particular model of aftermarket DVD player? Since we lease, I was thinking of just getting a laptop style player. Now that our kids are 6 and 8 that seems like a more reasonable solution.
That being said, there is something nice about having a flip-down DVD player mounted in one's car (I don't know what it is, but it just seems cool). I have never had one in my car before. My buddy had a head unit with a dvd player. It was nice but way too small. I haven't been researching very long but one thing that I can imagine being a problem is the screen getting washed out by sunlight. Since you have had one before in your car you may know whether this is a problem. Other than that, all I can say is I guess we gotta put in some work and research DVD players like we researched this car.
So, it seems the total is 3%, but it's not actually called a total "Holdback" of 3%. However, I've never seen anything official on this.
I have got the price of $23988 + 8. 25 tax and DMV fees (~10%). OTD price of ~26270, over the phone. This is about ~$625 lower than cars direct online price. Edmunds say invoice is 26,229.
How much lower can I go?
thanks.

Myself and one other are close to purchasing Odyssey from a dealer in the SF Bay area. We think we get the best price by buying together. Email me at catalina@ztennis.net if you are interested. We are looking to purchase in the next 10 days.
Jeff
Dealer Inv.: $31,661.
Minus 3% MSRP: $-1,074.
Minus Dealer Incentive: $-1,500.
Bottom line = $29,087.
(Plus tax, title, and reg)
The dealership has 31 Odysseys and 6 of them are the EX-L with R and N which seems like a pretty high inventory to me. They have no 2009's (which I am guessing is due to that high 2008 inventory).
Can anyone tell me if the numbers seem to be a reasonable offer?
Thanks!!
I also asked and apprently floor mats are now included. In 2000 I think they were charging $160.
Your calculation are very on though as several of the folks did not want to match the $29,000 and said $29,073 is the number they could do because of their calculation, now I know where that came from.
It still amazes me is that it sound like they sell cars for less than they paid. I am trying to understand all this, but at the end of the day I just want the lowest price for my new vehicle and should nto worry about them.
I am hoping to make my purchase today.
I've been getting quotes from Dealers here at the NE area. The best I've got for 08 EXL&RES is 27071 (includes dest), 298 doc fee, 85 TTL.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
If you follow my math:
Total lease payments are $9,288 (258*36)
Down payment is $1,998
Total lease payment $11,287 (which should equal 46% of the price)
Lease b/o should then be $13,250 (Lease payments of $11,287 * (54%/46%)
So total purchase price s/b $24,537
Can anyone think of what else I'm missing here? This doesnt factor in lease fees which they could use to bump up the price. The only other thing I could think of is that this assumes a zero interest rate embedded in the lease, but if the interest rate was 2 or 3%, that would only lower the lease payments going against the cap cost, and thus lower the purchase price.
TIA for any thought and if anyone has dealt with Boch recently.
Any thoughts?
First... I wouldn't assume that $1998 is going to cover everything but tax... If an ad leaves out a lot of information, and if the price looks really low, then you should assume the worst... $595 acquisition fee? $299 doc fee? Destination charge? It can go on and on...
Second.. The lease buyout (or residual) is a set percentage of the MSRP.. The selling price or the total of lease payments have nothing to do with it... If the MSRP is $34,400 and the residual percentage is 54%, then the buyout is $18,576...
Third.. Part of your lease payment (as you noted) goes to finance charges... You'd have to know how much of it to calculate the rest of the equation..
You can go to the Honda Odyssey Lease Questions forum and get money factors and residuals... From there, it is a lot easier to calculate the actual selling price... Or, you could call Boch and ask them for the total amount due at signing on the lease in the ad.... Don't be shocked if it turns out to be $4000...

planning to lease or buy EX-L end of this month or end of next month.
1. what is the current best prices?
2. should i wait for end of next month?
3. will there be any better deals after Sep 02nd which current .99% 36 months promotion ends?
tx,
Best offer so far:
Selling price: 27036
Sales tax (6.25%): 1689.75
Other fees (doc, title, lic, regis, inventory): 255
Out the door cash price: 28,981
At least one other dealer has offered to match or beat that price.
According to my calcs, this selling price is fairly close to their cost, so seems like a good, reasonable deal to me. Any thoughts?
Selling price: 27036
If it is not financed through Honda you should be $500 lower. Try it.
Be patient, I think they may switch promotion to EXL next week or in month of Sep. The monthly specials should be posted online by 6th or 7th day of the month.
We haven't pick up the car yet because they'll wash it up today. Can we still do something? Please give some advices. We're not very experienced in buying new cars, this is our 2nd one. Thanks in advance.

Invoice, less dealer cash, less holdback: $31,282 - $1,500 - $1,014 ($33,810*.03) = $28,768.
They offered $1,000 less for no financing.
The dealer had a documentation fee of $75. Since tax, title and license are not negotiable and vary so much state to state, I have not included those numbers.
Remaining quotes for base price ranged from $28,864 to $30,890 with financing. We accepted the best quoted price as no dealers wanted to improve their bid below that number. Got pre-approved for financing on-line at the dealer website. Went in, test drove the van, signed papers and left. Total time about 1.5 hours. No trade-in. All in all a great experience with the dealer. Total time from first e-mail to purchase was four days.
Better late than sorry.
Can't believe people can get EXL for 25600!!

http://www.tintkits.com/Scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=993
One question though: is the DIY tint as good as dealer's tint? I saw cars with tint peeling off.
Given a $258 for 36 month lease through Honda with a MF of .00163 would equate to a $26700 sell price of this EX-L RES. Net cap cost is $25297 with $595 acq fee and $1998 down. If no more is due at signing that is really low because Honda is offering $1000 less dealer incentive when they finance compared to a cash sale. I could see paying up to $500 in BS to get this deal.
My question. If this was a third party lease you might get that sell price, but would you get 54% res and .00163 MF? I don't know.
These forums are great - hope my contribution helps.
If it's been sitting on the lot for a while, that's probably what motivated the dealer to cut the price and sell it.
You did good. I was just offered 26k for ex-l with 80 miles on it. Didn't pull the trigger, b/c I realize there are better deals out there. But the 80 miles didn't phase me - it was a dealer trade.
If you want to know how long its been sitting on the lot, take a look at the door jamb. There's a decal there that has the production date on it (month and year).
The best I could do OTD was $32,200 with a Fairfax dealer.
I think Base was $28,519. But they added on $495 for appearance and $385 for doc fees. (I'm registering in MD so tax is higher 6%)
the best quote so far in VA area for EX_L with RES: is
Your Price: $27611.87
Freight: $670.00
Processing Fee: $399.00
VA Tax (3.17%): $909.18
Tag and Title Fee: $75.50
Out the Door: $29665.55
in another mail she said , she will give $500 off of the quote and appearance package which include Mud guards, wheel locks, door edge guards, fender well trim & pin stripe
So Final OTD will Be 29165.55
is it good price or still we can bargain for less?
They still pinstripe? Isn't that a dealer
ripoffaddon from the 80's?the driveout price he gave 28900.
I have an appt there tomorrow (Thurs. 8/21) afternoon.
I'm still waiting to hear back from Gillman whether they will match or not.
I would consider that deal from Gillman.
Teaming up for a deal sounds good... in theory, but also could be a logistical challenge! My schedule has been so jam-packed. I'm in SW Houston.
Which part of town are you in?
After researching, getting 10 quotes, making a detailed spreadsheet, sifting
thru 60 emails and calls, I'm just about ready to be done with this process, you know?
Was the 27036 from Sterling McCall of Kingwood? That's not the lowest as dealer installed accessories are excluded. I got a quote from Gillman which is 265 more but includes window tint and pinstripes. Does anybody know how much does tint cost?
Can't believe people can get EXL for 25600!!

BUT they don't have the color I want. So this is their way of trying to persuade me to pick another color. My husband thinks I'm crazy for paying 500 more just for a car color...but I'm going to do a little more hunting for my 1st choice. I really wanted this color for my previous car and didn't get it then (6 yrs ago) .
sneezy2: was the $500 lower quote from Houston area?
We live in SW Houston, too. Maybe we can talk about this. I'm tired of this, too - still don't understand why other states charge $1,000~1,500 less on the same car.
Also what is the best deal so far for the 2008 Odyssey R&N Model and the justification beyond it.
Appreciate all your replies in advance
Thanks
wow, that's an awesome quote you got...hard to believe though.
I got a quote of OTD 28300, also by phone, but I
don't have email confirmation yet. however, they did offer to drive a vehicle
out to me in SW Hou if I am truly interested.
We'll see how tomorrow afternoon goes at Sterling McCall...
