But you are backing YOUR tax rate out of the OTD price posted to get the cost of the car with destination and dealer fees. Where I live it is 7% state sales tax - so if I posted an OTD price it would be high. If someone lives where they only charge 2% or something then it would sound low - which is why OTD prices are meaningless.
The dealer in GA was (and may still be) selling them for under invoice including dealer fees. There is supposed to be a $500 incentive on the 07 Accords (but it is not listed on Edmunds) and some dealers may be willing to deal into the hold back. Hold back on a Honda is 3% of MSRP so on a car with a $25k sticker this is $750. So "in theory" a dealer could make a profit selling a car for under invoice because of the hold back. Most dealers do not deal into the hold back at all - invoice less any rebates and incentives is always their bottom line. I would normally not expect to get a deal that is into the hold back, but I have gotten deals before that would have been money losers for the dealer if not for the hold back.
I'm considering a 2005 EX V-6 with Navi, 32,000 miles on it, seems to drive OK. It's being sold by my credit union, so it's not Honda Certified; they want $21,000. What do you all think about the price?
why not see if there are any new '06s still sitting on the dealer lots in your area and get a brand new one with just a few miles for maybe $3k-$4k more?
'11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S
'O6 models with Navi pretty scarce around here. '07 prices I'm hearing run about $27000 for V-6/Navi, so that's about a six grand difference for a new car. I like the idea of a new car, but that's a lot more money. Plus the model revision next fall makes me think twice about buying an '07.
I think I would pass on this one. The GA dealer said they would do $27,010 for a new 07 EX-L w/NAV (car+dest+dealer fees) and for a new car 2 model years newer and a full warranty the extra would be worth it to me. 2 model years will always make the 05 worth $2k or more less than an 07 - not to mention the 32k miles already on it (just about driven out of the warranty coverage). Since they own it they may give you a nice rate to take it off their hands, but in general used car rates are a good bit higher than new rates - making the difference in cost per month even less (unless you are paying cash).
NAV equipped cars are harder to find and may not be discounted as much, but $21k for a 32k car with almost no warranty does not sound like a good deal to me.
Hey everyone, first post here. I have received three quotes from dealers in the Orlando area for an coupe LX automatic. The car prices quoted over the internet are: 19,623, 19,523 and 20,423. These prices do include the destination fee but do not include the $599 doc fee. Is this doc fee now a standard fee or just dealers trying to get more out of me. Just wondering if I should insist they drop the fee.
Wow, sounds like quite a deal. Here in San Antonio the lowest price I've received is $18,611 for the basic VP model, no accessories plus TT&L. Needless to say the other models are considerably higher. What area is this price for out of curiosity? Thanks for the information.
I went online and best I could get was $1000 total drive offs and $239 plus tax for 36 month lease with 12k miles per year. Total price on lease was $19934.97 for Gross Cap Cost. Was this a good deal? Color is silver with cloth interior and 6 disc
...observation (FWIW) from a first time Honda buyer:
....the current CarsDirect price for the actually rather fleet (better numbers than my '69 CorVette from my Navy days) Accord EX V-6 6M coupe is almost a whopping 3 grand higher than the price I paid fall semester '05...........
..the dollar against the yen, inflation, the Honda name (I concur on this last)........all must play a role.........
The advertised special is $239 per month for 36, 12k miles per year, with $1,499 due at signing. Neither the payment nor the up front money includes any TTL and the net cap cost is $19,093.25.
So you got the same payment as the special and paid $499 less at signing - so you beat it by $499 AND the cost of the tags and title (isn't that high in CA?) AND maybe some taxes. In CA I think you pay sales tax on top of the monthly payment ($239 + tax) but I am not sure if any tax is do on a cap cost reduction.
It all depends on how much the title and tags cost there as to how "good" the deal is or not. Invoice on the I4 SE AT is $20,587.
To me, you paid little money up front and you get a new Accord SE to drive for $239 a month taxes - so in any book that is a good deal (and you did better than the advertised lease special). Could you have done better? I can't say without knowing the tags/title/taxes answers but you certainly did not get ripped off if does not appear
I got a price on a 2007 Honda Accord EX Sedan Automatic of $299/mo. for 36 months, $500/dn and 12,000 mi/yr. This is an Internet rate on a dealership in S. Florida at Ed Morse Honda. This includes destination and handling charges.
Does it seem like there is a better rate to be had out there? :confuse:
Any one know dealers' cost of those for 07 Accord EX? Thanks. Another question: should I tell one dealer another dealer's name and its quote price? Thanks!!!
Looking to purchase new 2006-2007 Honda Accord LX,SE,EX (not sure which one I'll purchase yet, price is the big factor), please list dealerships near Bay Area, Central Valley, or Sacramento area that given anyone here a good price on the Accord. If you can please list the bottom line price,(since OTD seems to vary by state). Thanks in advance, looking to purchase real soon.
I am also shopping for Accord in bay area. I have seen a tough competition among 30 dealers and I an expecting more towards the end of year. If you are in a rush, sit and watch. I quoted EX-L NAV 4cyl. $24100 plus tax, license and tag is still negotiable. I got a verbal offer of $23800. But be careful with dealer tricks. they will bait you with a good verbal price. Then when you get there, pop up extra cost of hundreds. So make very clear what they can offer, including the model, fees, accessories, before you go, better in written not verbal. Good luck with your Accord shopping. Pls post your best offer.
I received a quote for $19450 for a 07 Accord LX Sedan 4 Dr, Auto. What do you guys think about the price. The dealership is also offering free tires for life, free state inspections, and other advantages. Please let me know what you guys think about the price. This dealer doesn't have the exact color I wanted but the one that is available is my 2nd preference. Another dealer offered to beat this price by $100.
sean24, Does that price include the alarm system? If not, that would add another $800 or so. I think it's an average deal even if the alarm is included. I got a quote from a salesperson in Palo Alto, CA for $18,500 (does not include any special offers you received nor the alarm system). So, I'm also waiting for a better offer. BTW, if you're paying for a $20k item, I think you should get the color of your choice (try another dealer if possible)
I bought a Honda Accord EXL Sedan a few months back. Reading some of the forums, I used the leather wipes to clean my leather seats.
To my surprise, the car seat look extremely shiny and odd. It was rich looking before this coming straight from the dealer.
Please let me know if this shine is permanent or if it would go away in a few weeks ? It looks really odd and so after applying to the passenger seat, i stopped applying it to the other seats.
Just talked to them I don't see how their prices can be beat. One dollar over invoice, also Grand Honda in Chicago may be as good. Just clicked on the link for Grand Honda that message 13025 listed--thanks for that.
....please list dealerships near Bay Area............
...Senor Nice, am near Sacramento. University(Davis),Shingle Springs, (foothills) and Carmichael Honda dealers exhibited richard head factor big time. Picked up my AV6 EX 6M coupe at Winter Honda (Pittsburg) for 23413 sans tax/license/dork. CarsDirect actually brokered the deal. Head/shoulders above stealers noted above............
Hi All, I got the following price quote for 2007 Accord SE 4Dr Auto.I would like to know whether it is good deal or is there any room to bargain still.
$19,675 cost of the car $218 DMV+Title+DOC Out of the Door price could be $19,893/-. There is no sales tax in my state.
I am looking for a new 2007 EX-L 4cyl in atlanta. Can you please let me know how this offer looks. Internet sale price from Gwinnett Place Honda
EX-L: $21,999 destination charge:$595 documentation fee:$399 title application:$28 GA Lemon Law:$3 7% tax (zip 30004) Prices include standard factory only. DEALER ACCESSORIES ARE NOT INCLUDED. Prices are not valid with any other dealer or manufacturer promotion
Yes it included all those tax, title and license fees. $496 was used for cap cost reduction and I did get the 4 cylinder. I am pretty happy with the deal. Yes my payment is $258 which is the $239 payment plus the 7.75% tax we pay on the payment here. Thanks
Has anyone dealt with Open Road in NJ .If so are they willing to come off that 300 dollar processing fee .I am looking soon like next week . The price quote was good 18331 plus dest 595 plus 300 process fee n 69 dmv. I did good last time with Staten Island Honda for my wife Pilot but didnt like the Finance guy .Trying to get my own financing and go with Open Road . If anyone knows of any good deals locally on a 07 se - manual trans let me know .Thanks
I got a quote for 19400 in bay area for 2007 accord Automatic SE. This price includes Car price and destination charge. Is this a good deal or anyone know of better deal. Please let me know the dealership also if you know of better deal.
Well it's a done deal! Started off negotiating with a half dozen dealers in and around houston area via emails for about a month. Basically told every dealership I was willing to pay $24,500 drive-out for the model including window tinting. I couldn't care how they pushed around the topline numbers to get to the drive-out price. Never stepped foot in a dealership until yesterday to pay for the car. Went in and test drove the car they set aside that I wanted, and payed for it. Took about 1.5 hours including looking around lot, test driving, and sealing the deal. I paid cash so it probably was a quicker transaction with less opportunity for the dealer to nickel and dime me with fees. Here's the breakdown of what I got:
2007 Honda Accord EX-L 4Cyl Auto w/o Navi- Silver Ext. w/ Black leather interior (Had 73 miles on the Odometer) Dealer installed tinted windows No other dealer installed options
After some convincing, they let me charge $2,500 on my AMEX (I wanted the points), and I cut them a check for $21,899.99. They are tinting the windows and prepping for delivery, so I will be picking it up tomorrow.
Thanks to RUSSELL & SMITH Honda in Houston for this deal and not giving me any BS when I came in to do the paperwork. I would give the name of the sales person I worked with but I don't think that is allowed on this board. Just tell them David P. who recently bought a Silver 07 EX-L 4Cyl Accord sent you and you want a similar deal.
I just bought 2007 EXL V6 Auto (4 door) this weekend in socal. ( No extra options)I used internet to get quotes. I got the car for 24289 (including destination) from Riverside honda. I highly recommend them. Clean transaction and choice of colors.( No trade). Spirit honda and Kolbe honda were willing to come lower by another 100 dollars if I were to make a trip to them. I did not try that route. Hope it helps someone.
I live in bay area, picked my EX-L NAV AUTO 4CYL yesterday at $23500 + tax(8.25%)+ DMV $28 + Documentation $45 + license $216. OTD 25740. Believe it is a good deal, compared to 24963 invoice and 27645 MSRP. (dealers's invoice is even 600 higher than Cars.com) Got quoted by nearly 20 dealers within 100 miles. Finally focused on two who are running big sales last weekend. Guess their sale are still on. Hayward honda gave me a pretty clean transaction. The store general manager told me he loses on my deal. But guess when he hits his quota, he may get some cash back from Honda. They gave me 6.34% up to 66 months, which is pretty competitive. Except for pushing me with extended warranty a little bit, they are overall good. Stockton Honda quoted me even lower and promised a no hassle transaction, but have to drive far. Other dealers seems don't have a aggressive promotion running on. The third best price I got is 24000. One dealer emailed me: our cost is 24500, so 23000 is a loss of 1200. Who believes that crap?!
Just called Riverside Honda and got an over the phone quote of $24500.....and I am calling from Colorado. At that price I would fly out and get it. Thanks for the info...maybe I need you to bargain for me. The sales manager I talked with said yours had to be an 06
Can anybody give some names of the dealers that have good quotes in 07 SE I4 AT (OR, any 07 Accord)? My local dealer is willing to match the price of remote competitors. Their current price is just prohibitive... Dealers in in any part of the nation is okay. However, it will be better to find some quotes from the dealers in MI, OH, IL, IN. I am looking at dealers that can give base pre-tax w/dest (internet) price lower than $19,500 for 07 SE I4 AT. Dealers having low prices for other 07 Accord are welcome! Thanks a lot!!!!!!
Hello gofishing, Is the dealership called riverside honda in Riverside , CA? Does your include navigation/ I'm looking for one here in ACCORD EX-L V6 WITH NAVI LEATHER SEATS ( I belive those are standard in this one)Seattle and sticker price is 29950 invoice is $27400 in somne dealerships 27.075 . They even trying to add destionation of $595 saying it is not included in those prices. What is tax in ca ? Can you suggest what to offer since you got yours recently? Thanks
I used edmunds internet dealer query system to get the quotes. That might explain the 200 price difference. ( between talking to a live person and getting a email!).
That statement about the car had from the previous model year comes from every dealer who does not want you to negotiate hard. I have heard it many times. Dont let it bother you.
If you are flying out to LA area, get some more qoutes from the other dealers I mentioned. Then you will get a better price.
Hey tgetz....No, the one I am looking at does not include Navigation. I have a hard time paying their prices when you can get a handheld for less than $500 that does the same thing, and then take it with you from car to car, etc. Do not pay taxes in California. They can register it to your address in Seattle and give you a temp tag to drive it there. You will never get those taxes back, and still have to pay them in Washington.
Thanks gofish, Can you give me what would you offer them just to help out. THey hate talking to the women. I hate it myself. I just talk to oen dealership in OR, they seem to be lower but all of them want $27700+tax licence invoice for this car is only 27075 and that is still not their cost. What do you think I should offer out of the door including tax and everything? Thanks again Hey where are you anyway
I am in Colorado. They have already give me a price of $24500 without Navigation, but we are dickering on the destination fee now. Look up through the responses and you will see Crankman who got the same car for $24289 including everything (except tax & license). I never negotiate a car with tax, since it is what it is.
Invoice on the EX-L V6 w/auto sedan is $25,277 and as user crankman reports a lot of dealers will do invoice or a little less. So you are close - if there is no expensive dealer or doc fee to be added to the price.
$24,963 is supposed to be the invoice for an 07 EX-L w/NAV. I have read there is a $500 dealer incentive on 07 Accords ($750 on remaining 06 sedans). There is 3% of MSRP for hold back as well.
So if we take $24,963 - $500 - $829 = $23,634. So even if there is a $500 dealer incentive then they gave it to you along with 100% of their hold back and STILL lost $134 on the deal. So either you had a trade to make the dealer some money, you are posting the wrong price by mistake, or the dealer is nuts
