    Hi fergs1001,

Wow, that is a great deal! Where did you this deal? Could you brake down the OTD price? Thanks!
  • houstonodhunthoustonodhunt Member Posts: 11
This is a good deal for EX-L with RES OTD price.
Can I know break up like price + destination and TTL . doc etc.

Also which state you bought from?

Best offer I received so far:
    2010 EX-L w/ RES & NAV
    $31,999
    doc fee: $299
    new plates: $125
    wheel locks: $99
    tax (6.25% MA)
    total = $34,522

    Thoughts on this deal?

If I lease it (36 months, 12,000 miles/year), the payment with nothing due at signing would be $450/month (which includes everything, even tax). How does that sound?
  • pmpatelpmpatel Member Posts: 23
Seems like a great deal for $31,999 (with destination i assume). As for lease, I can't speak for that as I have never leased a car/van. But for 36 months lease would cost you $16,200 and you get to walk away with nothing owed after 3 years. But even after 3 years the car value would not depreciate beyond 35%, so you might just want to purchase it.

    My 2 Cents.

    Hi Pearliegirl,
I'm no expert on any of this by any means but based on the deal we just got for 2010 Ody EX-L w/ RES(without NAV) $31.195 OTD, your offer doesn't seem good. I know the the NAV is about 2k more than w/o so I'd be looking to be about 33k out the door. I'm in MA too. I'd keep looking.

What dealer did you buy from?
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
You'll see my "original" Hogan Method was actually to just call the dealers on the phone. Many others have adopted the email trick.

I agree with you - to me you're gonna have to close the deal in person anyway, so you might as well take a last shot in person to see if you can do better than even the internet quote came in at
  • rangersacerangersace Member Posts: 34
Based on what others have paid I believe that's a very good deal. Here's the breakdown:

    Invoice: $34475
    Dealer Incentive: $1500
    Dealer Holdback: $744
    Total w/Dest: $32231

As the Hogan method mentioned you might want to try and tell your least favorite dealer you have an offer for $200 - $300 less and see what they do. You can also take another shot face to face with the dealer who quoted you the price above. You can always go back to your current offer which again I feel is very good. I know there was another in MA who recently got what seems to me an AWESOME deal on an EXL w/RES but don't recall I've seen any others here even close to that.

Not sure if it's a big deal but you can by the Genuine Honda wheel locks for $50, maybe try to get them to throw them in as you tell them you really don't want them.

I paid $33400 OTD in NJ w/7% sales tax but the incentive is $300 more now. My issue was inventories were slimming down in NJ and the pickings were tough.

Hey, bottom line is if you feel comfortable with the offer buy it.
    Good luck.

i think this is the best deal so far.. i never seen such good deal recently.. i paid 30500 OTD for EX-L ( without RES and NAV) so u must chill out..

I have received couple of quotes over email for a 2010 EX-L with no accessories for ~$28,525 + TTR (factoring in the $1500 dealer cash) in the Chicago area. The quote for the EX-L W/RES is $29,939 + TTR.

Does anyone think there is room for further negotiations?

    Thanks.

Why is everyone posting OTD Pricing when there are different tax rates all over the country, and many times within the state itself. It would me MUCH MORE HELPFUL to post the price paid including destination, and any other fees, other than registration fees.
  • fergs1001fergs1001 Member Posts: 3
We took delivery of the car last night and I love it! Here's the breakdown of cost:
    $30,203 price of car
    $1,341 tax/fees
    -$10,349 for trade

    $21,195 OTD

This was at Cambridge Honda in MA.

We've been shouting from the mountaintops for months about the same thing - OTD pricing is meaningless for a board like this (even though its meaningful to one's wallet). In some ways its also meaningless to the NEGOTIATION PROCESS as the buyer can't control tax, title and registration fee (just make sure they're not getting socked with some BS extra fee).

Yet people keep posting their OTD price and asking "is it a good deal?"

Then again, people come here saying "hey I just bought the car for $XYZ is it a good deal?" which I never understand because what happens if its not? then you're just gonna feel remorse.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what pricing will be like on the 2010's for June and July? What about incentives? I think I may want to wait, but I don't want to lose out on a good opportunity. I have heard that availability is getting low. I have a hard time believing that there will be NO Odyssey's to buy. That would be a huge mistake, and loss for both Honda and the Dealers. Thoughts???
  • rangersacerangersace Member Posts: 34
    Hi Pauliegirl,

Like I mentioned earlier if you are comfortable with the deal go for it.

Regarding prices and incentives its very hard to say. I jumped on the deal I was happy with before the end of april due to fear the $1200 incentive would be gone. To my dismay it went up to $1500 so I could have saved a couple of bucks. With that said I'm still happy.

You need to weigh the value of POSSIBLY saving another couple of hundred bucks, probably not more than $200 - $400 tops, by waiting vs passing up a current known good deal.

One thing for sure is if you miss the window of opportunity on the 2010's you'll definitely pay significantly more for the 2011 for the first year or so of release.

My 2 cents for whatever it's worth.

The big issue now is selling my existing car. I have the right price from a dealer, but their trade value of my car isnot where I need it to be. Another dealer will give me the right amount for my trade, but they are higher on the deal. If I could put the two together I would have already done the deal, but I am stuck at this point.

    Hi,
I was wondering if you could tell me where you got your deal and any other info that helped you. I am currently looking to get the EXL and live in S. Cal as well. I'm new to this blog, but trying to figure out how I can get the Odyssey at a reasonable price.
    Thanks!

Just wondering what the best price and best dealership is in the Los Angeles area. My lease is up on the CRV in Sept. and I am looking to get the Odyssey (either lease or buy) anytime now. Any thoughts/ help on what to do, where to go, specifics on deals you recently got would be helpful. I am new to this forum so all help is appreciated!
    Thanks!

If it is true that the 2011 is coming out in the next 6 weeks, it would seem to make sense that the $1,500 incentive will be withdrawn? But would the price also go down by a fairly comparable amount since, most people would want the 2011 at that point. In addition, it appears that the color most people would want is scarce to find.
  • inspectoringinspectoring Member Posts: 102
Didn't people say the same about sienna - but immediately after release of the 2011 sienna dealers were selling it 1000 $ above invoice. But I guess as you said - its like taking a chance.

The local honda dealer in NJ on Rt 22 said that they will be getting the 2011 at the end of July.

The poor soul at Open Road Honda must have been tourtured to death by the questions because I was talking to him about 2010 and the moment I mentioned - when are the 2011 coming out - he just hung up!

We just purchased an EX-L in polished metal which is suppose to be rare right now. I basically went through Honda's website to track down all the dealerships within 200 miles and then went to the dealership websites to look up their inventory. Once I found the model and color I wanted I requested a quote which goes to the internet sales department. You should be contacted by the internet sales manager within an hour. Just tell them the model and color and they will fire back their first quote. After you get a few quotes you can leverage prices you got from other dealerships against them. Right now is a great time due to Honda wanting to unload the 2010 Odyssey because of the new one coming out. They are also offering a really good lease deal on all model, not just on the cheapest model (like Toyota). The money factor I got which is .00049 x 24 = 1.17% interest rate. I would order Consumer Reports auto guide to get the bottom line deal price, it really helped me. The model I purchased had a MSRP of $34,115 and dealer invoice with destination was $30,971. If you add up the $1,500 dealer cash and holdback of around $600 I figured a price of $29,000 to $29,500 was a pretty good deal depending on color. If you go with a off color that is not popular you could probably get a EX-L for $28,500 to $29,000. I got mine for $29,350 with locking lug nuts and mud flaps for free. I did get a quote for $29,100 but it was for the Alabastar silver, nice color but wife wanted darker gray. With a lease of 36 months, $2k down (includes 1st month payment), and 12,000 miles/yr. final monthly was $338 + ca taxes on monthly payment came out to be $365. I thought this was very fair. We could have probably gotten a few hundred less but we purchased from a Honda Presidents award winning dealership and they didn't charge us for the extra travel on the dealer trade that they had to do to get us the color we wanted and save us 100 miles we didn't have to travel. If your in the N. Cal area go to Autowest Honda in Roseville and ask for Josh S. Internet sales manager. Awesome experience. Hope this helps. :)

Send out around 25 email using hogan method. The best quote I got so far is:

    base with dest 30100.00
    nj sales tax 2107.00
    tire tax 7.50
    Doc Fee 199.00
    total 32,413.50
& NJ dmv charges they change from deal to deal and they will bill
me after you pick up the car. Does this sound normal? Or they trying to play game with me and charge me extra when I p/u the car? I guess is should be no more than 399 in nj right? Any thoughts on that? Is this a good deal? I am happy that they have the color I want, black pearl.
  • newstargazernewstargazer Member Posts: 6
Is this for a base EX-L? I had received a quote for the base EX-L with destination for $28,525 in Slate Green with Gray leather from a suburban Chicago dealer.
  • rangersacerangersace Member Posts: 34
I checked the DMV fees on the NJ web site before I purchased and for a 4yr registration and title it will be around $400 probably a little less. When I picked up mine from paramus honda they charged me $384 and said they have to charge exactly what DMV charges and they would bill/refund any difference.

$199 doc fee is the cheapest I've seen. Mine was $249 which I thought was good.

$30100 if for RES w/NAV in NJ is pretty good IMO. What dealer?
  • yileditoryileditor Member Posts: 5
Looking to make an offer on a used Dark Blue 2008 Odyssey EXL, with RES/NAV and 25,000 miles. The dealer's advertised price is $24,800. How much should I offer for it? Price seems way high considering model year, and the imminent release of the 2011 Odyssey. It's certified.
  • microallhymicroallhy Member Posts: 15
Sorry, I should be more clear on that. It was EXL/RES only. Is it still an ok deal? It was Joyce Honda.

    Hi,
I have tried Hogan's method and contacted more than 15 dealers in my area. The lowest price I am getting on an EX-L w/ res is $32,300 + $780 destination. The others I have received are all in the $33+ range. I am thinking this is too high, considering some of the other posts on this board. My question are:

    1. for the ones who have been getting the lower prices, was this b/c you factored in
the $1500 rebate to get the price to $30k?

    2. did you use your own financing or pay cash to reduce the price (dealers are
telling me the price is higher if I want to use 1.9% from Honda)?

    3. WHAT SHOULD MY NEXT STEP BE...should I email the others back with the
    lowest quote now?

Any help would really be appreciated!!!! THANKS!!!!!

Has anyone recently purchased or shopped around for a 2010 EX-L w/DVD & NAV in the central florida area? if so, can you share what offers you are getting? (base and/or OTD) and which dealerships? Thanks!
  • bay4bay4 Member Posts: 3
    Sorry, just to clarify...

the lowest price I am getting on an EX-L W/ RES (dvd+navi) is $32,300 + $780 destination + TTL (for OTD of over $34K). This seems high!!!

I am wondering if those who got a lower price paid cash, used their own financing and also got the $1500 rebate to get it down to 30k???

to those who got $30k-ish including TTL please let me know if you paid cash, used your own financing + got the $1500 rebate??

ANY help on where I go next would really be appreciated!!!
    THNX!

    Hi Bay4,

I've purchased my Odyssey EXL with RES & NAVI for $32,112 which included destination during end of April timeframe when the incentive was $1200. Since the price included $1200 incentive, I had to get my own financing or face higher APR from Honda. It worked out better as BOA offered me 2.79% APR for 60 months which is better than Honda's 2.9% and I still took rebate. The question you want to ask yourself is how long is Honda going to offer Rebates? Do you want to risk waiting further on hope of getting better rebates? Most areas are offering EXL with RES & NAVI around $32300 with destination. My purchase was from chicagoland dealer.

    Good Luck

    Honda Odyssey 2010 EX --

    $25,409.00 + TTL Base price
    Destination fee included
Mud guards, wheel locks, cargo tray included
    ____________________________

Everyone has been posting prices for EX-L and not EX's, but I was wondering if that seemed like a good price for a 2010 EX. All other dealers I contacted claimed to have different prices depending on purchase with cash or financing. However, this dealer (Brilliance Honda in Chicago) claims the price good for both cash and financing. Hm
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
32,300 for EXL-RES appears to be a horrible price.

What happens when you reply to one of the dealers and tell them you're seeing other quotes in the 30,500 area so you're confused as to why they're so much higher?
  • rangersacerangersace Member Posts: 34
32300 + dest is high. The invoice minus the $1500 and $784 dealer holdback is $32231 and you should be able to at least reach that range. Honda says you can get both the rebate AND financing but seen a few here that say they did. When I purchased last month no one would offer both.

I don't think you'll find anyone here who paid 30ish for an EXL w/RES AND NAV. 30ish would be for just RES.

    Good luck
I got great financing from the Bank of America, 3.09% for 60 months. It was 2.84 if you financed more than $30k.
  • pmpatelpmpatel Member Posts: 23
Hopefully you got a nice deal on your EX. I just purchased few weeks ago from Brilliance Honda in Crystal Lake with EXL NAV & RES.

We just got a new 2010 Odyssey EX-L for $28,500 w/ dest at Hardin Honda in Anaheim, CA. I didn't bother remembering the tax, lic, and dealer fees since they're all different depending on where you're at.

I have been on the fringe of looking for 2010 vs. 2011. I was hoping to wait for 2011 as I really wanted the new look and 3 car seats in 2nd row. Yet, I was told the 2011s aren't coming in July ... it's really seems to be end of August/beginning of September from a dealership manager. Dealers here are still getting and special ordering 2010s and are clueless that they may come in during July (so I doubt that rumor as they would know it by know).

When I was in, I found out that I could fit my 3 car seats comfortably in 2010, so I asked for updated prices (for those with 3 toddlers/infants - there is a latch in middle if you remove the cushion for middle seat and razor car seat fits right in). However, right now $30,987 is best I can get for Ex-L Res (with first round of e-mail quotes). A friend and I tried to get 2-3 dealerships to beat this and they come back and said no due to low inventory and high demand. One said they can only make $260 profit at that price. With $32,800 invoice less $1,500 incentive and 700 holdback, that's $30,600. How do people get $29,900 or $30,300?

We even tried to get 2 Odys and see if we could negotiate that way - no deal - actually harder to find 2 than 1 we were told. I am going to try again but wanted to see what people thought.

I was also told that they would sell the 2011 at MSRP for a long time. With the economy the way it is, I just can't see this. I see sticker going up to $37,000 and selling at $35,000. For $4,000 difference than $31,000 quote, I am thinking of waiting if I can.

    What do others think?
  • harrymaverickharrymaverick Member Posts: 3
I have been quoted $30,900 for EXL w/RES. I am confused between the 2011 and 2010 Honda Odys. Did you check the Sienna 2011 ?
  • aps123aps123 Member Posts: 20
Finally purchased my Odyssey at a decent price. The inventory is low, at least in my area so the dealers wouldn't budge. I held out for 2-3 weeks but since no one would come down, bought the vehicle.
The dealer is South Hills in Pittsburgh

29,500 (Dest, Splash guards, All season mats Inc)
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
Honda may be masterfully winding down production of the 2010s to keep inventories in check.

I thought the 2011s were in the Fall (Sept?) timeframe.

You'll still get a better deal on a 2010 vs 2011 though. Highly doubtful Honda will LOWER the invoice price for a truly comparable model.......and the dealers will be trying to get sticker if they can. At a minimum, they'll be looking at invoice-PLUS rather than the current invoice-MINUS.

That said, its of course personal choice re: new model, styling, etc. For some, paying a couple extra thousand to get the newer look will be worth it. Getting the 2011 means you'll have a "new" Honda for many years, whereas if you get the last 2010 then your look may get dated in next few years. For me, the new styling on the 2011 isn't so radically different (its a MINIVAN after all) so I'm not worried that the other soccer moms and dads will point fingers at my "dated look" ;)
  • petes999petes999 Member Posts: 5
No, I am just wondering if the 2011 Honda was worth the wait (knowing the deals won't be there). Yet, for me, it's not just the styling. It is getting more room on 2nd row (didn't want 3 car seats crushed together - tearing up my hand trying to buckle in my older one into his booster seat).

Also, the resale on the new model is higher ... with my Acura there is a huge difference in prices between older model and new model (that one year). So, you pay more for the 1st year model but make up for it down the road in resale (not all but some).

Just pondering before buying a 2010 after I figured out which car seats fit in better so there is more room (so my son can learn to buckle his own seat without having a latch in the way from that middle seat.

    Hi,

Has anyone purchased All Weather Floor Mats and/or Cargo Mat (liner not tray) from Honda Dealer during your new odyssey purchase? I was given quote for $225 + tax = $241 for Front, 2nd Row, and 3rd Row All weather mats installed. I also found a site (local to chicago area) that sells custom fitting mats for Odyssey for a bit cheaper price but not cheap enough :D for me to purchase it. The site weathertech.com has All Weather Floor Mats + Cargo Liner for $294.90. I think it is free shipping. I am trying to query for ideas if someone has purchased it from any other sites for a cheaper price and what is the price paid at the dealer?

    Thanks,

Can someone please explain to me what the HONDA $1500 rebate is? Is this rebate in addition to the OTD out the door price, and strictly through Honda itself, and not the dealer? Or, is the rebate included in a quote by the dealer?

For example, I receieved an out the door quote from a dealer. Does this price include the rebate or no? The dealer claims that the quote price is good for both CASH and SPECIAL FINANCING. So does this mean that the rebate is factored in already or what?
  • mbojamboja Member Posts: 4
We just purchased at Brilliance Honda -- Odyssey EXL RES (with dvd and nav) Out The Door Price:
    *Base Internet Sales Price: $31,295
    + Destination Charge: $710
    +Additional Options: $299
    +Documentaion fee $150
    +Drive Away Tag: $10
OTD price: $32,464 (Purchased out of state, also need to pay state taxes)

Was there suppose to be a $1500 incentive and $784 dealer holdback incentive/?
  • shenanigansshenanigans Member Posts: 9
That seems like a pretty fair price considering holdbacks are usually not negotiable among most dealerships. I think some of these people get killer deals if it is an off color/end of month or been sitting on the lot for a long time. And if it's been sitting on the lot for a long time the holdback money is gone. I would take the quote you got, they are becoming harder to find especially in specific colors. After invoice, $1500 dealer incentive and holdback the figures on the EX-L are $28,873. I paid $29,350 and he had to do a dealer trade. I felt pretty good about that. I got what I wanted and the dealer made a profit, not a big one but enough. Dealers should be able to make some profit off of these cars they have families and bills too. Tough job they have.
  • rangersacerangersace Member Posts: 34
WAY TOO HIGH! I purchased the AW mats, splash guards and cargo tray on ebay for $275 delivered. Hondaunderground is the user name on ebay. Splash guards were easy to install and mats are no brainers. However, I just noticed they are now asking $350 or best offer + $35 shipping which is almost $100 more than I paid. Maybe they made a mistake and realize it now. You can try to bid what I paid

The following site also has very good prices on official Honda accessories, www.accessories-honda.com. Mats are $139 on this site.

I would NEVER by the accessories from Honda. Just search the web and look for the best price.

I came across two vehicles that I need help making an offer to a dealer. Can you advise what is a fair offer?

    1. 2010 Odyssey EX-L w/ DVD-NAV - 5100 miles
    2. 2010 Odyssey EX-L w/DVD - 4100 miles

Current truecar value for base EX-L in our area is $284xx + tax + doc fees + reg
Current truecar value for base EX-L w/DVD in our area is $298xx + tax + doc fees + reg

I do not need DVD/NAV as I can update those with portable ones anytime. If I am buying new I am only looking at base EX-L. Would $25,500+ tax, fees be fair or too low? Or 26k + fees reasonable?
Dilemma is if its over 27+fees i might rather drive a new one from the lot with today's promotions. The dealers have it listed for 36k (DVD) and 32k (DVD+NAV) - seems ridiculous but true.

    Thanks
