A local dealership just quoted me $35,489.00 for a 2011 Odyssey EX L with Navi. He said this would be the "out the door" rate and includes TTL destination and everything. Does this sound like an ok deal? Thanks.
  • luvinlifeinflluvinlifeinfl Member Posts: 19
What dealership is that? Sounds like a great deal to me. The ones here in North Florida are still maintaining sticker price is the only price they will consider and are telling me that no dealerships would sell at the prices Ive seen posted on here. Im about to go out of state to buy soon.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
No, that's the offer that Honda has been offering for awhile now - financing or $1500. Go with the lower price and arrange your own financing - you should be able to get a loan in the same range. Heck, the dealer may be able to arrange it with one of their other lenders.

As someone else pointed out, you might be able to do a bit better on the price too.

hate to bug you on this - the price listed for EX-L RES is a bit over $36K before taxes - were you able to talk them down a bit to $33,600?

    Updating everyone from socal:
Emailed/called every honda dealership from valencia to carlsbad:
Best price is the zag.com price of $41,370.

HOWEVER, most dealerships are charging MSRP and not budging or don't even have this model yet.

Most say shipments are expected end of Oct and into early November.

    I hope this helps.

mikeintheoc -- are you saying that zag.com prices aren't being honored (or are being ignored) and that only MSRP+ deals are flying right now for the Elites?
  • r721r721 Member Posts: 1
We picked up ours on Saturday. White/Beige Interior touring/pro pack. Got it for 41500. My wife is due anytime so we couldn't wait for the Elite. Plus for extra 2500? No thanks. I never thought I can get in a Van but after driving this Od, I was really amazed on it's handling and quietness, it definitely took VAN label to another level!

I live in Oklahoma and no dealerships within 250 miles are honoring Zag or truecar affiliate pricing on Touring Elites. They are selling for MSRP or above. There are very few Elites in my area and the dealerships are all holding firm. It is incredibly frustrating. The best I have been able to do price wise is 1k under sticker and that dealership is 350 miles away!

I got a good deal only due to reading other's posting, particularly soggadu's and oshogg (#26470). soggadu's mentioned getting a offer of $351 over invoice at Garden State and oshogg recently purchased a 2011 Touring for $600 invoice, which seemed like a fair deal.

I emailed the internet department at GSH and mentioned receiving an offer for $400 over invoice thinking that I'd be able to negotiate to $600. However, I was surprised they agreed to the $400 over invoice. Touring are not readily available in stock so I thought the $600 over invoice was fair. They did try a little con of saying they have 72 2011 Odysseys in stock. However, the actual dealership only has a few to look at and test drive. The cars supposedly are at another location. (I met another couple at the dealership who kept getting the run around on whether they color they wanted was on the lot so beware. If you're flexible you'll probably come out with a fair deal you'll like.)

We took a test drive and afterwards, simply mentioned the agreed upon price with the salesperson and he raised his eyebrows and said "wow" but did not push us or make snide remarks or at all give us that creepy (no offense) salesperson attitude. No sob story, etc. He was very nice. (The first one assigned to us wasn't. He simply left us when we expressed at dismay in not being able to test drive a Touring. The drive of EXL & Touring is supposed to be a little different.)

We had a cooler with drinks and snacks for the rugrats. Also I would bring your own DVD as they didn't have any kids' DVDs in the play room while we were there. It was definitely hard to have the kids hanging around for 3 hours. It is definitely a car sales tactic--"we love kids, bring them etc." because I truly think some parents would just capitulate and give in during the process just to get out of there with the car. In dealer's defense, every one was very friendly with our kids even when they were screaming. I definitely would buy from them again, leave kids at grandparents.

At this point, if you're still in the market, with November and new incentives coming by, I would negotiate even harder. Wait until Nov. if you could. If soggadu got her/his EXL for $351, I would offer $100 over invoice to Internet dept. and go from there. There are plenty of EX's and EXL's within the 30 miles radius of where we live. Check out the inventory feature of Edmunds to see the availability of the car/color you want to get an idea of how readily available. I seem to recall lots of EX/EXLs. If Nov rolls by, offer invoice or lower if there are customer rebates.

My breakdown of the 2011 odyssey touring:
    Invoice: $36902
    Over $: 400
    Dest. 780
    Total: $38082
    taxes $ 2665.74 (7%)
    doc fee $ 299
    Title/reg $ 399
    tire fee $ 7.50

    Total: $41453.24

So it's not over after the agreed deal, finance department will try to push you to buy extended warranty. We didn't buy it. You can get Hondacare cheaper online and with different term/mileage options. They first offer us 5% for 60 months, but when we started to write the check for the full amount, they said they could give us 3.0% which we took. However, I just read a post from someone in Boston area whose dealer got him loan from PNC at 2.25% at 63 months. Just mentioned that. Threaten to walk away. It actually might help if your kids are screaming at that point.

Checkout truecar.com to get ideas about pricing. Anyways, it's so helpful to get ideas from other's post for your specific car and use during your negotiating process. Good luck on your purchase and don't forget to pay it forward by posting your prices so others can benefit.

Leasing is a completely different animal from financing. Dealers might how specific quotas to hit regarding sales as oppose to leases. Garden State Honda may not be the right place for you to get the lease.

The lease calculations are really opaque and dealer's can pretty much create whatever numbers they want to fit your expected monthly budget--even if you start with a negotiated price. We got burned before on our last lease and luckily, this time around we were purchasing the car. There is a leasing pricing forum on edmunds where people put down the money factor, and other detailed information. It's called Honda Odyssey Lease Questions: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ef9da12

If you could wait until Nov. 1st. There might be new leasing deals, better APRs and/or customer incentives for the 2011 Odyssey.
  • chisoupiechisoupie Member Posts: 9
By fees you mean taxes+TTL? Assuming your fees are equal except for the tax portion, I would take the $28,110 offer and go in with third party auto loan. Bank of America had 60 month 2.9% in NJ and someone earlier posted getting a PNC auto loan through the dealer at 2.5%, 63 months in Boston. We didn't not get third party financing and winded up paying 3% for 60 months at the dealership. However, we were willing to pay cash for the car at the last minute, so financing buckled.

If you're not desperate, November is around the corner and you might be able to get better financing deals...

I am getting pushed a GM demo car with 5k miles on it. Supposedly it's the general manager's car that he uses to go to show. What does that mean?

Hi Everyone. Purchased a 2011 Odyessey EX-L with Navi yesterday from DCH Paramus. Amazing experience – no surprises or hassle (i was actually surprised how smooth the transaction was). Here is the price breakdown (bought for $200 over invoice):

    Invoice (33,012) + Destination (780) + 200 = Vehicle Selling Price of $33,992. Add the Doc Fee (249) + NJ Reg (399) + NJ Tire Fee (7.50) and NJ Sales Tax @ 7% (2,379) = Out the door price of ~$37,000.

Very happy with the van and want to thank previous posters (many dealerships thought I was crazy asking invoice and insisted everyone is selling at or around MSRP which this board sets straight).

My process was to use this forum to gauge what people are buying at. Next I solicited 10 internet quotes (be sure to check out Garden State Honda as well – sales person was very straightforward and had great pricing). Then took the lowest internet quote back to the sales person that took me for a test drive. Really liked him and wanted to give him business if he was willing to beat the lowest quote. He did (over the phone) and there were no surprises when I got to the dealership. Soliciting quotes and fielding calls took me 3-4 hours. Spent another 3-4 hours at dealership to take delivery (I financed 100% through Bank of America at 2.59% over 5yrs).

Hope this helps someone. Good luck to all.

Thanks for posting your great deal! Here is hoping that these prices get posted more and more so the dealerships around me will finally listen to a reasonable offer.

    Thanks for posting.

I was actually originally looking for an EX-L with Nav, but they are none in the bay area

I will post over in leases too, thank you to everyone who takes the time to post and share. It helped me a lot when making this deal!

I highly recommend Autosport Honda in Bridgewater, I had a bad experience with Garden State Honda this weekend and ended up walking out. With Autosport, what they said was what they delivered on and we worked out almost everything before I got there which is so nice since I work full-time and have two small children.

Anyway, 2011 Odyssey Touring for $400 over invoice, or $38,090 ($36,910 invoice + $780 destination +$400). I am paying $1,122.23 at close ($259 Doc Fee + $307.60 DMV + $7.50 Tire Fee + $548.13 first month payment), monthly payment with tax is $548.13. I feel like I got a good deal, and they did not try to screw around with the lease calculations like GSH did this weekend.

The car is being built at the end of the month and I should take delivery the first week in November.

We had purchased a Pilot from Honda in frisco a few years ago that had the same trick. Said all their cars already had after market window tinting and leather care among other things. We were adamant that we were not going to pay for something we didnt ask for so they gave us a list of the after market stuff and we told them what we didnt want. They didn't charge us for the extras.

You might be able to work around these add ons in a couple of months when demand decreases.

Oh, I didn't realize that but see it now. I'm going to give them a call. Looking forward ton the pics. I really appreciate the help and info.

Garden State Honda is offering for invoice + 350 for EXL with RES. I called Princeton which is my local dealer and they happily beat the GS price.
  • drivininstyledrivininstyle Member Posts: 14
Wanted to share my FANTASTIC streamlined experience at Bobby Rahal in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

They offer their own "Live Market Driven Pricing" on all their models. This is the SAME price for Internet, Phone or In Store. It's posted right on the car.

Last week, I picked up a 2011 Honda Odyssey EX-L for Invoice + $320.00 Profit. (Discount off MSRP of $2925. on a BRAND NEW MODEL!) Also, they did NOT have any inflated "Doc" or "Licensing Fees"....or Dealer add-ons to speak of.) Sale Price= $32,304.44 + tax & tags ($170.65).

    My Lease was 36 months x 12K Miles a year= $398 + Usage tax 9%= $434.34 Total. (.00200 Money Factor & 64% Residual), Start up costs= $170.65 Fees + $434.34 First= $604.99 out of pocket.

Breakdown of "Doc" & Licensing Fees:
Tags (Transfer PA) were $170.65 ($123 Doc Fee, $22.50 Title, $6 Transfer, $5. Tire Tax, $14.15 Registration on-line).

The dealership is very convenient to Maryland & Philly suburbs, and is drop-dead GORGEOUS, with a staff that actually CARES about what they are doing, and WANTS to treat the customer FAIRLY!

I highly recommend Bobby Rahal & their great team. I negotiated everything over the phone, and had no surprises on delivery! I drove two hours to get there & it was worth it!

Dear friends, This is my first post in these forums. So apologies, if this is the wrong topic for this forum. I see a lot of buying 2011 when there are still some 2010s left and may get a decent bargain (although the price diff is not much as i see it). I just want to pick your brains on why 2011 is a better choice (or the other way around)? I can wait to buy a Van as my wifey is not due until Jan with our second one. Any advice on which Odyssey to go for will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mani

Hi Ram, Any reason you went for 2011 Vs 2010? I am on the wall with this one - cant choose between time tested 2010 vs the next gen 2011. Also, this new model gives another headache of choosing between RES and NAV!!!
    Thanks

Hi there - I see a lot of references to soliciting quotes via internet. I am curious - are most people who are getting these really good deals soliciting the quotes via a service like Edmunds "quick quote" service, or one at a time through individual dealer websites, or is there another way to find an internet sales person's email address?
    Thanks for the info!
  • hitchens97hitchens97 Member Posts: 62
Personally I think the 2010 is very nice. Ours was totalled. My wife drove the 2011 and really liked it and said it drove better, but given you can get a 2010 EXL with RES/NAV for about $32K including Dest right now, and with little worries of a first year issue, I think it is a fair question.
  • hitchens97hitchens97 Member Posts: 62
Ended up getting a Touring 2011 in Mocha tonight for 38980 (incl. destination), so about $2.5K off MSRP, with an OTD of $43,355. Not a good deal in comparison to some on this board, but I was not getting much joy here in Northern CA (inventory is very low), and very few are discounting. My guess is, is that if I held out for a month or two, I could of gotten $38K, but since our 2010 was totalled, I needed one soon, especially since our insurance said they were cutting my rental off this weekend.

Thanks for all the advice on this board. I didn't get as good a deal as some of you, but he helped me get an anchor, and I really don't think I could of done much better.

Share your stories. Information is power.

BTW the dealer was Berkeley, Honda - excellent experience - negotiation over email. My wife bought tonight, no upsell, straightforward, and they threw in a free service for $175. So recommend it to those of you in Northern California.
  • mikeintheocmikeintheoc Member Posts: 23
Yes. agree with honda250r. Unfortunately, only 1 dealer would honor ZAG.com pricing, but they charged destination separately. PM me and I can tell you who it is. Most dealers just don't have them.

Getting a lot of phone calls back about trying to deal on the other trim levels esp. touring and EX-L's for 2011.

I am holding out for the touring elite, and I'm willing to pay over invoice, but NOT MSRP or more than ZAG.com.
  • mikeintheocmikeintheoc Member Posts: 23
    Dear Mani,
The 2011 odyssey is a total redesign with the upper level trims having a 6 speed transmission. Lots of bells and whistles, but from what you want (touring vs. exl), it sounds like those things might sway you. I would just drive each car and let that speak for itself. Don't let a few bucks kill what you may own for the next 5-10 years. I was certain about the Toyota Sienna until I drove it...liked the honda much better, and the 2011 at that.
  • mikeintheocmikeintheoc Member Posts: 23
    Hi danielcar2,
I just used the "find all dealerships" at the bottom of the quick quotes on Edmunds. You have to go through each one to get a quote, but it's still easier than trying to find all the correct emails yourself. It's tedious, but if you really really want to have the best price available in your region, that's probably the best way to go. You'll soon find 100 emails in your inbox saying someone from the dealership will contact you shortly.
  • cheapskate8cheapskate8 Member Posts: 34
Well I sat where you sat with the same question. I went for the 2010 Touring b/c of the front/rear sensors, memory seats, and my wife likes the 2010 leather look vs the 2011 more modern leather. Sensors: a must for me b/c my childs life is worth the extra bucks even if I am a cheapskate. Memory seats: I am 6 ft 3 in and my wife is 5ft, Might seem trivial, but I can't even get my feet in the car when is adjusted for her. The leather is her choice. I would just say go to a dealer who has both and pull them side by side and make the decision. 2010 Tourings with destination should be in the $34500-$35000 range. After our side by side comparisson my wife wanted the 2010 Touring.
  • cheapreadingcheapreading Member Posts: 44
Means it's a used car with 5K miles on it that could have been driven by anyone. Unless you know the GM and know how well they drive think of it as a rental car. I'd be looking for at least 5% if not 10% below lowest price you can find here for a similar new vehicle.
  • co_copco_cop Member Posts: 17
I feel the same way and was in the same position. I also went for the 2010 after a careful look at both vans. I go through a van every 3 or 4 years, so I will look at the 2015's when that time comes.

    Good luck.

Prices of minivans keep going up, a quick search of previous years invoice price for fully loaded Odyssey Touring
    06 $32,931
    10 $36,903
    11 $39,157

You may pay the invoice price in '11 and think it is a good deal, but in fact it has risen 6 thousand dollars in just 4 years. In my opinion, minivan depreciates like a luxury/sports car, but not the satisfaction of driving one. In my opinion, '10 is a plenty nice van 3,000-4,000 cheaper than '11 at the same trim. Get it at a discount now, or negotiate hard or wait for the '11 to drop their prices through incentives/cashback.

Also want to mention the price discrepancies between [non-permissible content removed] and US/Korean makers are getting much wider, making it a worthy choice for people who trades in their van every 5 years.
  • honda250rhonda250r Member Posts: 8
I disagree with your resale comment. I purchased a new 2006 ex Odyssey for 25k in august of '06. I have driven it 75k miles in the past four years and the current private party selling price is about 16k. The 9k difference still leaves a 64% residual. This is a very good residual after four years particularly compared to almost all luxury/sports cars. Yes, the residual worsens on more expensive versions of the Odyssey. I plan on selling it and purchasing a 2011 Touring Elite when pricing becomes more reasonable in my area. As to driving satisfaction, of course I would rather drive a BMW M3. However, when was the last time you were able to load six people, with all of their crap for a comfortable road trip and still get 25mpg in an M3? It is my belief that the 2011 Odyssey drives better than any van on the road and better than most passenger cars as well. It's not a sports car, but for what it is designed to do, it succeeds very well.

i have tried with about 10 dealer nobody have one..
kindly post the dealer name here

i started my minivan shopping few months ago got good deal on 2010 , but thought of waiting for 2011 model to see how cool it is. Though it look very different on body, i was disappointed with no storage avail.. so trying 2010 may be good for my requirement.. ofcourse if really good deal

    thx

I got a good deal on a new EX-L with RES in Massachusetts. Test drove the vehicle and the dealership I was at refused to negotiate off MSRP. I looked up all the dealerships in MA on the Honda website and emailed about 7 dealerships within a 40 mile radius stating I would buy this weekend (last weekend) for $500 above invoice. One of the dealerships did a little better than this. Very happy with the purchase.
  • mikeintheocmikeintheoc Member Posts: 23
I think the 2010 touring is a great van, and is at a much better price point the way the new odyssey is so hot. I was quoted 33000-36000 for a 2010 touring in the southern cal area. That includes the incentive cash. My own preference is the new van's look and the 6 speed transmission. I almost got a sienna, but it drives like a boat.

I'll post again once a dealer starts giving me better prices than MSRP for the touring elite.

If anyone else is out there in SoCal looking for an odyssey 2011, maybe we can team up to get numbers.

**HOLD THE LINE PEOPLE...!!"*** HERE'S THE LATEST NEWS ON LAST MONTHS CAR SALES.....AND THINGS TO COME.....**

Don't let the SNEAKY DEALERSHIPS TRY TO CON YOU INTO THINKING THAT THESE VANS ARE MADE OF 24K GOLD AND THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO NEGOTIATE...!!!****

    READ BELOW----->>>>>>>

Looking at sales figures, you would assume the new car market has begun to rebound.

Comparing September 2010 sales to sales in September of 2009, GM saw its new vehicle sales in the U.S. increase 12% to 173,031.

Ford saw its sales jump 46% to 160,375, and Chrysler sold 100,077 vehicles, up 61%.

But it may not all be good news.

Fleet sales - not retail sales - seems to be driving the market surge. (Fleet sales are vehicles that are sold to rental fleets and corporate clients).

Collectively, General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Chrysler, Hyundai-Kia and Nissan sold 2.3 million units in the third quarter, up 1 percent.

But combined retail sales fell 4 percent to 1.8 million.

What does this mean for car shoppers? Fleet sales can only sustain the auto market for so long.

To boost retail sales, automakers will have to offer greater discounts and incentives.

Our recommendation is to consider waiting a few months before purchasing (unless you're considering a leftover model). You may end up saving thousands.

OC, California dealers start to offer $1500 off MSRP for EX, and more for Touring.
from Ceritos & Corona dealers. Expect more discount during Xmas time and next Jan after they see the sale number for the first quater is not what they expected.
