As someone else pointed out, you might be able to do a bit better on the price too.
Emailed/called every honda dealership from valencia to carlsbad:
Best price is the zag.com price of $41,370.
HOWEVER, most dealerships are charging MSRP and not budging or don't even have this model yet.
Most say shipments are expected end of Oct and into early November.
I hope this helps.
I emailed the internet department at GSH and mentioned receiving an offer for $400 over invoice thinking that I'd be able to negotiate to $600. However, I was surprised they agreed to the $400 over invoice. Touring are not readily available in stock so I thought the $600 over invoice was fair. They did try a little con of saying they have 72 2011 Odysseys in stock. However, the actual dealership only has a few to look at and test drive. The cars supposedly are at another location. (I met another couple at the dealership who kept getting the run around on whether they color they wanted was on the lot so beware. If you're flexible you'll probably come out with a fair deal you'll like.)
We took a test drive and afterwards, simply mentioned the agreed upon price with the salesperson and he raised his eyebrows and said "wow" but did not push us or make snide remarks or at all give us that creepy (no offense) salesperson attitude. No sob story, etc. He was very nice. (The first one assigned to us wasn't. He simply left us when we expressed at dismay in not being able to test drive a Touring. The drive of EXL & Touring is supposed to be a little different.)
We had a cooler with drinks and snacks for the rugrats. Also I would bring your own DVD as they didn't have any kids' DVDs in the play room while we were there. It was definitely hard to have the kids hanging around for 3 hours. It is definitely a car sales tactic--"we love kids, bring them etc." because I truly think some parents would just capitulate and give in during the process just to get out of there with the car. In dealer's defense, every one was very friendly with our kids even when they were screaming. I definitely would buy from them again, leave kids at grandparents.
At this point, if you're still in the market, with November and new incentives coming by, I would negotiate even harder. Wait until Nov. if you could. If soggadu got her/his EXL for $351, I would offer $100 over invoice to Internet dept. and go from there. There are plenty of EX's and EXL's within the 30 miles radius of where we live. Check out the inventory feature of Edmunds to see the availability of the car/color you want to get an idea of how readily available. I seem to recall lots of EX/EXLs. If Nov rolls by, offer invoice or lower if there are customer rebates.
My breakdown of the 2011 odyssey touring:
Invoice: $36902
Over $: 400
Dest. 780
Total: $38082
taxes $ 2665.74 (7%)
doc fee $ 299
Title/reg $ 399
tire fee $ 7.50
Total: $41453.24
So it's not over after the agreed deal, finance department will try to push you to buy extended warranty. We didn't buy it. You can get Hondacare cheaper online and with different term/mileage options. They first offer us 5% for 60 months, but when we started to write the check for the full amount, they said they could give us 3.0% which we took. However, I just read a post from someone in Boston area whose dealer got him loan from PNC at 2.25% at 63 months. Just mentioned that. Threaten to walk away. It actually might help if your kids are screaming at that point.
Checkout truecar.com to get ideas about pricing. Anyways, it's so helpful to get ideas from other's post for your specific car and use during your negotiating process. Good luck on your purchase and don't forget to pay it forward by posting your prices so others can benefit.
The lease calculations are really opaque and dealer's can pretty much create whatever numbers they want to fit your expected monthly budget--even if you start with a negotiated price. We got burned before on our last lease and luckily, this time around we were purchasing the car. There is a leasing pricing forum on edmunds where people put down the money factor, and other detailed information. It's called Honda Odyssey Lease Questions: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ef9da12
If you could wait until Nov. 1st. There might be new leasing deals, better APRs and/or customer incentives for the 2011 Odyssey.
If you're not desperate, November is around the corner and you might be able to get better financing deals...
32,330 w/dest, 2,263 tax, 7 tire fee, 150 title fee, 129 NJ supl titling fee, 299 doc fee
Ext warr: Saccucci Honda Care 1,295 for 8y/120K zero deduct (flat rate) in progress
Very pleased with service, especially for no BS. Transter plates to safe a few $
Looking for a Touring.
Invoice (33,012) + Destination (780) + 200 = Vehicle Selling Price of $33,992. Add the Doc Fee (249) + NJ Reg (399) + NJ Tire Fee (7.50) and NJ Sales Tax @ 7% (2,379) = Out the door price of ~$37,000.
Very happy with the van and want to thank previous posters (many dealerships thought I was crazy asking invoice and insisted everyone is selling at or around MSRP which this board sets straight).
My process was to use this forum to gauge what people are buying at. Next I solicited 10 internet quotes (be sure to check out Garden State Honda as well – sales person was very straightforward and had great pricing). Then took the lowest internet quote back to the sales person that took me for a test drive. Really liked him and wanted to give him business if he was willing to beat the lowest quote. He did (over the phone) and there were no surprises when I got to the dealership. Soliciting quotes and fielding calls took me 3-4 hours. Spent another 3-4 hours at dealership to take delivery (I financed 100% through Bank of America at 2.59% over 5yrs).
Hope this helps someone. Good luck to all.
I was actually originally looking for an EX-L with Nav, but they are none in the bay area
I highly recommend Autosport Honda in Bridgewater, I had a bad experience with Garden State Honda this weekend and ended up walking out. With Autosport, what they said was what they delivered on and we worked out almost everything before I got there which is so nice since I work full-time and have two small children.
Anyway, 2011 Odyssey Touring for $400 over invoice, or $38,090 ($36,910 invoice + $780 destination +$400). I am paying $1,122.23 at close ($259 Doc Fee + $307.60 DMV + $7.50 Tire Fee + $548.13 first month payment), monthly payment with tax is $548.13. I feel like I got a good deal, and they did not try to screw around with the lease calculations like GSH did this weekend.
The car is being built at the end of the month and I should take delivery the first week in November.
You might be able to work around these add ons in a couple of months when demand decreases.
They offer their own "Live Market Driven Pricing" on all their models. This is the SAME price for Internet, Phone or In Store. It's posted right on the car.
Last week, I picked up a 2011 Honda Odyssey EX-L for Invoice + $320.00 Profit. (Discount off MSRP of $2925. on a BRAND NEW MODEL!) Also, they did NOT have any inflated "Doc" or "Licensing Fees"....or Dealer add-ons to speak of.) Sale Price= $32,304.44 + tax & tags ($170.65).
My Lease was 36 months x 12K Miles a year= $398 + Usage tax 9%= $434.34 Total. (.00200 Money Factor & 64% Residual), Start up costs= $170.65 Fees + $434.34 First= $604.99 out of pocket.
Breakdown of "Doc" & Licensing Fees:
Tags (Transfer PA) were $170.65 ($123 Doc Fee, $22.50 Title, $6 Transfer, $5. Tire Tax, $14.15 Registration on-line).
The dealership is very convenient to Maryland & Philly suburbs, and is drop-dead GORGEOUS, with a staff that actually CARES about what they are doing, and WANTS to treat the customer FAIRLY!
I highly recommend Bobby Rahal & their great team. I negotiated everything over the phone, and had no surprises on delivery! I drove two hours to get there & it was worth it!
Thanks

Thanks

Thanks for the info!
Thanks for all the advice on this board. I didn't get as good a deal as some of you, but he helped me get an anchor, and I really don't think I could of done much better.
Share your stories. Information is power.
BTW the dealer was Berkeley, Honda - excellent experience - negotiation over email. My wife bought tonight, no upsell, straightforward, and they threw in a free service for $175. So recommend it to those of you in Northern California.
Getting a lot of phone calls back about trying to deal on the other trim levels esp. touring and EX-L's for 2011.
I am holding out for the touring elite, and I'm willing to pay over invoice, but NOT MSRP or more than ZAG.com.
The 2011 odyssey is a total redesign with the upper level trims having a 6 speed transmission. Lots of bells and whistles, but from what you want (touring vs. exl), it sounds like those things might sway you. I would just drive each car and let that speak for itself. Don't let a few bucks kill what you may own for the next 5-10 years. I was certain about the Toyota Sienna until I drove it...liked the honda much better, and the 2011 at that.
I just used the "find all dealerships" at the bottom of the quick quotes on Edmunds. You have to go through each one to get a quote, but it's still easier than trying to find all the correct emails yourself. It's tedious, but if you really really want to have the best price available in your region, that's probably the best way to go. You'll soon find 100 emails in your inbox saying someone from the dealership will contact you shortly.
Good luck.
06 $32,931
10 $36,903
11 $39,157
You may pay the invoice price in '11 and think it is a good deal, but in fact it has risen 6 thousand dollars in just 4 years. In my opinion, minivan depreciates like a luxury/sports car, but not the satisfaction of driving one. In my opinion, '10 is a plenty nice van 3,000-4,000 cheaper than '11 at the same trim. Get it at a discount now, or negotiate hard or wait for the '11 to drop their prices through incentives/cashback.
Also want to mention the price discrepancies between [non-permissible content removed] and US/Korean makers are getting much wider, making it a worthy choice for people who trades in their van every 5 years.
Thank you
which dealer has 2010 oddyssey in NJ ?
i have tried with about 10 dealer nobody have one..
kindly post the dealer name here
i started my minivan shopping few months ago got good deal on 2010 , but thought of waiting for 2011 model to see how cool it is. Though it look very different on body, i was disappointed with no storage avail.. so trying 2010 may be good for my requirement.. ofcourse if really good deal
thx
I'll post again once a dealer starts giving me better prices than MSRP for the touring elite.
If anyone else is out there in SoCal looking for an odyssey 2011, maybe we can team up to get numbers.
Don't let the SNEAKY DEALERSHIPS TRY TO CON YOU INTO THINKING THAT THESE VANS ARE MADE OF 24K GOLD AND THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO NEGOTIATE...!!!****

Looking at sales figures, you would assume the new car market has begun to rebound.
Comparing September 2010 sales to sales in September of 2009, GM saw its new vehicle sales in the U.S. increase 12% to 173,031.
Ford saw its sales jump 46% to 160,375, and Chrysler sold 100,077 vehicles, up 61%.
But it may not all be good news.
Fleet sales - not retail sales - seems to be driving the market surge. (Fleet sales are vehicles that are sold to rental fleets and corporate clients).
Collectively, General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Chrysler, Hyundai-Kia and Nissan sold 2.3 million units in the third quarter, up 1 percent.
But combined retail sales fell 4 percent to 1.8 million.
What does this mean for car shoppers? Fleet sales can only sustain the auto market for so long.
To boost retail sales, automakers will have to offer greater discounts and incentives.
Our recommendation is to consider waiting a few months before purchasing (unless you're considering a leftover model). You may end up saving thousands.
I am trying for a 2010 LX. Used Zag.com and 3 dealers in Chicago area responded. All 3 say no inventory of 2010 and offering 2011. Could it be true? Anyone got 2010 in Chicago or Indiana area recently. I live between Chicago and Indy. Pls post.

from Ceritos & Corona dealers. Expect more discount during Xmas time and next Jan after they see the sale number for the first quater is not what they expected.
more purchasing power.
