After looking through the forum yesterday, last night I emailed the three dealers within 100 miles of where I live (Huntsville, AL) with an offer to buy a black EX-L at MSRP-$750 and would pay $850 for the 7yr/100K warranty. I already have one email reply to do business at that price. As long as they don't try to add any "fees" (paperwork, etc.), I think it's a good deal. It looks like you all have helped me save around $1800. THANKS!

More often than not, dealers add "TT&L" to the agreed price - taxes, title & license fee. So don't be surprised if they hit you up with a "doc" fee. $50 should be plenty :-)

matt60616 - I ordered today from that same dealer and although it's about an hour drive from our home, saving the $1,500 was well worth it. I ordered an EX-L RES Evergreen Pearl (which supposedly that color along with the Midnight Blue Pearl and the Havasu Blue Metallic aren't being produced in the Alabama plant until late November or early December). So, my guess is I'm looking at 3 months as well. I just hope there's no bologna when I go pick it up. I tried getting dealerships in my area to match the offer but their response was "absolutely not" and encouraged me to be "heads up". So we'll see ... keep the fingers crossed! Thanks again for your help.

It seems a good deal for you to get that price. COuld you tell me what that dealer is? I live also in Chicago. You can send me an email at guangluwang@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance.

I will be waiting for my Odyssey like you, we order the EX in Havasu Blue. Just in time for Christmas. I also try to get two other dealers to match the $1500 off, they said no way possible for them. My fingers are crossed.

Matt and Mdt: Your cryptic messages to each other should include your location, dealerships, etc. (info that would be helpful to guide the rest of us). Otherwise your posts sound...well ..er...bogus!
  • mdt308mdt308 Member Posts: 18
sbpceap - If Edmunds is O.K. with it, I'll give you the dealership's name and number but I thought on an earlier message, "Steve - The Host", didn't want people providing dealership names, etc. So, Steve if you read this, let me know what I can or cannot provide and I'll do so.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
    Dealer's names are ok.

We frown on posting contact info since we don't time to verify phone numbers, emails, and the like. Posting salesperson's names is also discouraged, since it looks like solicitation (tell 'em "Ernie" sent you).

And if you post your own email on the boards, you may get spammed. You're better off marking your email "public" in your profile, although even that's no guarantee.

But please feel free to post the dealer's name.

To the Gentleman asking about under MSRP in Boston. Try Commonwealth in Lawrence, MA. They have been running ads lately for 2K under MSRP. I've called to check and they appear to be legitmate. Although, I think you probably would need to act fast once you confirm. Last month they had an ad for $2002 under MSRP on an LX. I called to confirm, they indeed did but ONLY on the Red Rock Pearl. Also they had an ad two weeks ago for $2003 off an EX-L. Again, it was only on that model (i think around 28K), but they were legitimate ads. (We want to get 6 months more out of my Sable, I will be checking weekly for their ads then act immediately). Good Luck..

The Commonwealth Honda returned my email on 2003 EX-L in high $31k. I don't know if they think I wasn't serious. And I don't know why they can sell EX-L for $2003 under MSRP. It's get to be one of those which customer didn't want their long-waited Odys. In the meanwhile, I am still looking for a good deal on 2003 EX-L with RES (Starlight Silver) in MA.

sbpceap - Per Steve the Host, he said I could list the dealer name, so here goes: Jacobs' Twin Honda, 6750 West Grand Ave, Chicago. Helpful hint: Go through the "Special Accounts Department" (a.k.a Internet Sales).

If you would like more info., give me your e-mail address and I'll e-mail you the guy's name, phone number, etc.

I'm glad to hear that your posts are genuine, because it is good news indeed that $1500 under MSRP is coming to pass in more and more locations. Here in NY, we'll have to remain patient and persistent a bit longer. Kudos to Chicago!
  • gmacostagmacosta Member Posts: 14
can you buyers tell me what you paid for doc and title fees? what is normal. i hear this is where they stick more profit for them, like $300 doc fees, and $300 title fees. what is normal fees? please reply! i'll be buying in 3-4 weeks.also did you guys pay extra $150 for TLV fees, something about window etching for?
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
It looks like people are paying under MSRP more in the Texas, Chicago and Ohio area. I have no luck in Boston area. The Commonwealth Honda is charging $31k for EX-L with RES with cargo tray, roof rack cross bars and mud guards. Is this Odyssey finally catching up the demands when it is now being built in AL, with its own production line?
  • scott31scott31 Member Posts: 294
It seems that most people are looking for the EX-L with RES, and not the NAV.

Since I have the NAV in my TL, the wife and I have fallen in love with it and she really wants one in the Ody.

Are dealers not getting many NAV's in because so many want RES's it seems? (I haven't started looking for an Ody yet).

    Thanks

It seems to me (from my limited experience talking to approx. 20 dealers over the past 3 months) that dealers are only ordering EXL-Navi's when they've got a firm commitment (i.e., deposit) from a potential buyer (unlike other models, including RES, which dealers tend to order even if they haven't pre-sold them).

We're buying an EXL-Navi, and this is what we found out. I occasionally get a call from one of the 20 dealers I previously spoke with telling me that they received an '03 EXL-Navi that the buyer backed out on at the last minute, and that they'll let it go for $500 under MSRP. Haven't bitten yet, as we're waiting for Sagebrush Pearl (should be here mid-Nov).

    :-)

In August we put a deposit on a 2003 midnight blue EX with RES for Oct. delivery. We had been on the fence about whether to get another Ody (we have loved our 2001) or go with the Pilot for the 4-wheel drive. Two weeks ago we decided to switch our deposit over to the Pilot and when we called our salesman he said it was a good thing because we would not see the van until Dec. at the earliest. They have been swamped with RES orders. He did not mention a problem with the Midnight Blue availability, but maybe since we had already decided to switch to the Pilot he just didn't bother to mention it.
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
I guess more people are interested in RES because it seems a must have item for a minivan, especially with kids. I don't know anything about the Navi. But I think people are still rely on maps. And do you have to update the navi with a new software once a while, maybe every few years?
  • banddexpressbanddexpress Member Posts: 63
the ody is selling for 2k below msrp in Topeka Ks. area.
  • lucyvp49lucyvp49 Member Posts: 14
Just recently decided to go the minivan route. We saw this, and we're hooked. My husband wants to wait for an incentive, but at this rate, I don't see them EVER offering one. Why would they? Anybody out there have any info?
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
You can check our Incentives and Rebates page, but Honda doesn't seem to do incentives very often; certainly not in comparison to the Big 3 out of Detroit. Maybe if you are looking at last years model....

The way Odyssey's sell, anything under MSRP would be an incentive (and that's probably not going to happen in your area either!).

March '02: MSRP -$400, Browns Honda, Glen Burnie, MD
  • charlieliucharlieliu Member Posts: 80
Bought 03' EX-L silver for my friend Monday. I did the negotiation and she wrote the check. $300 under MSRP. I talked to other dealers and some of them have several Odys in stock and was willing to make deal for $300-400 less MSRP. My friend insisted on the color and only this dealer had it. No extras except floor mats and cargo nets.

03 EX (cloth) out the door at MSRP-$750, $50 doc. fee plus tax and tag. (No add on fees or BS.) Contact internet sales mgr. at Jerry Damson Honda Decatur, AL...great guy to buy a car from.

    Hi all,
Here is Texas, some dealers have tried to deal with my friend under MSRP on EX-L around $28,400
+ TTL. They could even give my friend a mud guard, cargo tray and tinted window for free during the negotiation.
I think the 2003 Honda Odyssey is built to meet the market now. My friend and I drove around many dealers in Texas, we saw a lot of car on the parking space, and the sale manager tried to deal with us with any price.

My friend tried to get a deal with some more options on his car. I don't know ...it looks like we buy a car with retail price with a little high in the market instead of Toyota Siena we can get around 26,000 + TTL with the XLE option and 2003 Toyota Siena has a lot of upgrade this time.

    don't you think so?

For anyone that has recently ordered an Odyssey, was there any mention about three colors being delayed. We ordered an EX-L RES in Evergreen Pearl and the dealer told us that because they were switching 95% of their Odyssey production to the Alabama plant, that Havasu Blue, Evergreen Pearl, and Midnight Blue all had additional delays. Has anyone heard anything similar to that? If so, what are they telling you for estimated delivery times?

Second question: I ordered rear splash guards for our new 03 Ody. Does anyone know how they are installed (I'm hoping no holes will be drilled - I'm under the impression they simply "snap" or "clip" in place). Any ideas why they don't offer them for the front?

Thanks for your help in advance - mdt308
  • alindaalinda Member Posts: 67
Your dealer was correct. Honda says no Evergreen or Havasu unitl January at least. Black and Midnight Blue are similarly limited after their initial test run last month. Have you checked out the Sagebrush? Very pretty.
  • kalajiankalajian Member Posts: 43
are only sold in sets of four (front and back), can't be purchased separately for just the back. No drilling is required, but you do need to screw them into existing holes in the fenderwells. A simple diy job, takes about twenty minutes.

    Hi,

I want to have a fog light installed by myself since dealer offered around $700 that price is too high.

Anybody thinks we can install by ourself on fog light?

    Thanks in advance,

Can Honda use another color (maybe some color some Accord or Civic) to substitute those with problem? Is it expensive to add or just use an existing color from other Honda vehicles? By the way, what's wrong with those color?
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
I prefer the PIAA (www.piaa.com). I bought one set for my Civic and had someone who does the auto alarm to installed for $60 (two hours job). You can DIY is you know how (instruction included). For your Odyssey, try the oval shape for the lower bumper or the round shape for the existing pre-cut opening (decided for factory fog lights installation use). PIAA is bit more expensive ($100 to over $200). My Tenzo fog had a broken light bulb. And they told I could replace the bulb but it is hard to disassemble the lens cover. I simple order another set of lights. It is like charging the whole unit every time the bulb is out. By the way, I quoted $550.00 (installed) for a factory fog lights for 2003 Ody. Yeah, these factory accessories are so expensive. Try www.honda-accessories.com
    Good luck!

We ordered EX- Havusa Blue in September and just now getting run around that Honda wouldn't even take the order and color is difficult to get. Can get one with EXL. But with 3 kids under 3 is leather the smart way to go? Getting EX at MSRP

Can get EXL at MSRP or if I try hard can manage MSRP -500. Should I switch colors or pay extra $1500?

    Please help
  • mschafermschafer Member Posts: 317
With 3 kids under three or any other animals, leather is the *only* way to go.
  • werdmanwerdman Member Posts: 9
A couple of postings have mentioned special 3.9% financing. Is this true? If so, how can I get in?
  • mschafermschafer Member Posts: 317
The world's largest Honda dealer is having a grand opening of their new location with 03 Odys on sale at $1500 off MSRP. I stopped in and tried to negotiate a deal.

They wanted said they had to make $2,500 profit on the van (already the advertised $1500 off MSRP has disappeared) and they added $1,275.00 for a special paint protection package. When I told them "no deal", the manager said that it was already on the van; but he would sell it to me at his cost of $110.00. The protective film from the transport was still on the van, so we know that this was/is a lie, too.

I walked. He knocked an additional $500 off the price by the time that I got to the car. I laughed and drove away.

(And what about the shennanigans they go through to try to get a Driver's License number and Social from you before they'll even talk!)
  • bdaddybdaddy Member Posts: 171
Leather is much more durable than cloth seating and doesn't stain as much either. Just wipe a little leather protectant (Lexol) on from time to time and you're fine. Honda's leather colors are light to medium in color, so heat buildup on the seats in summer isn't a problem. The leather option gives you heated front seats too which is nice when it gets cold. Spend the money, get the leather - you won't regret it.

FWIW - Hoping folks can help out... Please indicate the MODEL when posting the price paid for your vehicle (LX : EX : EX/L : EX/L-RES : EX/L-NAVI). Please include any HONDA INSTALLED options. If you want to provide Tax, Title, and License costs, please do so as a SEPARATE price as these vary by state. Same goes for dealer add-ons and document fees. THANKS!

BTW - If anybody hears about $1500 off for EX/L-RES in the Twin Cities are, please let me know... Otherwise, I am going to visit my family back in Chicago and I am bringing my wallet!
2003 Honda Odyssey EX-LRES - Midnight Blue Pearl
2004 Honda Accord EX-L Graphite Pearl
2007 Honda Civic EX - Atomic Blue
2013 Honda Civic LX - Crimson Pearl

Don't know if you are going to get any deals in Chicago. Most are adding packages unless you stick to your guns. Some will go $500 off MSRP if one is sitting in the lot.

I have managed to get on on "order" for MSRP (EX/L) but now getting delays due to color.
  • matt60616matt60616 Member Posts: 6
There is a dealer in Chicago offering $1500 off MSRP for Odyssey. A friend brought one which was available in color (silver) he wanted or you can order one with a deposit and wait 12 weeks. I ordered a Havasu Blue.
There are no added options to the Odyssey unless you request it.
Dealer did not play any gimmicks.

I live in the SF bayarea and am in the market to trade my 2001 Sequoia for an odyssey. Is this a good time to get a good deal on a 2002 model or does it even matter in silicon valley?
I am looking for a Ex-L with Navi and am getting 31.8K as the best price so far with 32K trade-in value for my seq. Is there any SoCal dealer or anyone anywhere who will give me a below MSRP deal and ship it to me? In that case, trading would be impposible I guess

    EX-L with IVES (RES)
    Offered at $30,360

Trying to negotitiate $500 below MSRP or some options thrown in. Will name city & dealer once paper is signed.

For the SoCal buyers, I may have some really good news if you are willing to spend a few hundred for shipping a vehicle. I think it is outrageous people are waiting at all for a vehicle that is so abundant. Even I was surprised at the availability and thought it was a fluke until I found availability at several area Honda dealers. My credit union Autoland buyer laughed at idea that I could buy an Odyssey at or below MSRP. The lowest she could get me was $1425 above MSRP for EX or $1600 over MSRP for EX-L Nav or RES. Good grief...

Trading a Volvo wagon. Not very happy, but it's for the kids so they won't kick us in the back while driving.
