i called, and spoke to customer service a few days after purchase. They were to send me data based upon the VIN, but nothing has showed up as of yet. I did send an e-mail today, hopefully they will respond.
In case anyone is looking as am I, Myron and Davis has a really nice package system that fits several factory vehicles with no modifications. The DVD kit for the Sienna sells online for ~$800 and uses the exiting console.
Does anyone have a system in their Sienna that has a in-dash DVD installed? I'd like to know where it was placed since there isn't a good location in the center dash area. I've been told to use the top glove box in from of the passenger seat. Would work but it would take most of the box with not much to spare for other items if any.
dgreene1 - what software and hardware are you using to burn?
I've used DVD X-Copy (fast, but has compatibility problems) and DVD Shrink/DVD Decrypter (slower if you modify the quality settings, but less compatibility problems).
I haven't found a player yet that can't handle my Phillips DVD+R's (sliver color), that I've made using the DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter software combo (both are free off the 'net and work together to rip and burn).
I strip off all the encoding stuff, so I think that helps (I make the discs region free, and strip off all the useless junk they put on commercial DVD's, like I add back in the ability to jump to the main menu without having to watch the previews and warning screens, etc). I use the copies on airplanes for my daughter so we don't lose or wreck the originals. We travel a lot.
I am very interested in installing the 10-in dockable DVD player also but I heard that it is difficult to install aftermarket DVD player on EXL. I am wondering how your dealer reroute the AC vent before installing the visteon 10-in dockable DVD player. Thanks.

We're getting a 9" Sony integrated overhead system installed in our Touring on Wednesday. I'll report after it's done.
Just in case any other new 2005 Ody owner has a DVD that you can hear but not see, as I did and another poster did on another Ody board, the answer seems to be a bad fuse and a simple fix. Just thought I would post here if anyone comes looking, like I did.
Since I just purchased and installed the Myron And Davis Sienna kit and their AD212 player I thought I'd share a little information.
The 7.8" screen fits into the factory overhead console with very little effort. I have the rear seat audio and no functionality was lost by installing this kit.
I opted to install the AD212 DVD in the top passenger glove box. the 3/4 DIN size DVD is fairly small and fits nicely into this area. Of course there was some cutting involved for the wiring.
I used a Sound Gate auxiliary input interface for the Sienna instead of using these FM modulators being sold with many systems. I didn't want to loose any more sound quality than I had to.
The factory JBL system works great with this player/screen combo and all of the functionality you find in the manual has worked with no issues.
I have only spent a few hours testing the basics of my install and have not found the limitations I had expected to find with an after market DVD system.
I do recommend checking this option if you're considering an aftermarket system.
I spent just at $1000 total for this package. Now I have a little left over for something else to add. Except it might go towards the home theater this time!
As most of you know, we recently purchased our EX-L ( Nighthawk Black/Ivory) from Coggin Deland Honda in Florida Christmas Eve ( WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE) after dealing with "less than satisfactory" local dealers. We had an afetrmarket dvd system installed by our local circuit city when we returned to GA. I promised pictures and true to my word , I wasable to bear mere 43 degrees ( brrrr) weather to take these pics. You would notice that the trimwork was cut in half and done despite thevehicle's moonroof ( It took a grreat deal of convincing the installers that it could be done) needless to say I am please wit the "new man" in my life.
I hope this helps others who are looking for an aftermarket system.
I had a Sony 9" overhead DVD system installed in our Odyssey Touring. This system has a built-in DVD player, built-in speakers, FM modulator and infrared headphones. So you get a choice of three modes of listening: though the stereo system, using built-in speakers, or through wireless headphones.
The Touring addition has a moonroof, which complicates installation of overhead systems. The installer has originaly put it too far back and had to redo the installation. The final installation is good: the system's edge is right behind the rear edge of the moonroof opening.
Overall, we're very happy with this system. One big plus is that you can completely turn around the monitor to face the driver or front passenger. You'd want to do it when the movie is starting and you have to make selections from the menues.
I'm also looking into getting the Visteon Dockable unit. Is there a RCA connector that goes from the unit to the FM modulator? If there are RCA connectors that come out from the top of the unit (hidden behind the roof liner), I was thinking of connecting the RCA lines from the unit to a PIE adapter so that I can do w/o the FM modulator. Also, does the docking station have a separate a/v input jacks to plug in a game console or other media? Do you have any pictures of the unit in your van? If so, please post.
Ok. Update. They re-installed it, and it is now (correctly) hard mounted. They did not initially put the plywood board to the roof part of the install.
But (as usual), now, if DVD player is on, AM radio does not work. That means no Mr. Tony on my local sports radio network. So....I guess I shall have to go back - AGAIN!
I have a 2001 Honda Odyssey XL van and I am interested in installing an aftermarket flip-down all-in-one DVD player on the roof of the van. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on this issue. My concerns are: 1.) I heard that the Odysseys have a very limited area to mount these units. One miscalculation and you are screwing through the roof! How do you find the place to mount it? I do not have a moonroof. Just lights and vents. 2.)Are there any power/audio cables already routed from the factory that could be used? 3.)Best place/method on running audio/power cable to unit through headliner.
1. typically a piece of plywood is "glued" to the roof and the flip down monitor is screwed to it. 2. i dont have an odyssey so dont know. Chk out www.pie.net for accessories. I bought a connector for my sienna which enables me to control the audio through the factory speakers. This is not FM modulation but if all else fails FM modulation might be a quick way to get audio. 3. it was run along the floor and brought up throught the B pillar to the roof.
We were just told yesterday by Best Buy that they could not do the install for our '05 Touring b/cuz of the sunroof. He said that the sun roof will hit up against the bolt, so he did not want to take the chance. I'm glad to hear you like it. Best Buy was also trying to tell us that we needed to buy an FM modulator, but it sounds like you didn't have to. (I believe the system comes with it). We want to put in this same DVD system. I've heard it shakes quite a bit. Is this true for you? Does it play +/- R DVD's?
If anyone is from the Sacramento, CA area, please any advice would help. We would really like to find a good installer who can do a clean job.
Has any1 bought a system from this comapny? Are they good, reliable, ect...?
I'd really like comments on Vizualogic quality, please.
We're thinking of their headrest replacement system for our new 05 Avalon. No1 has info on this car yet, closest we can come is an 05 Lexus rx330. I'm gonna have to find a Lexus dealer and see if they will let me try swapping an Avalon headrest for a Lexus for 30 seconds or so.
I stopped at a Lexus dealer today beacause the Visualogic A-1000 & A-2000 model of DVD systems show an 05 Lexus RX330 with Ivory and a couple more Lexus models and 2 or 3 Toyota models as having the same Visualogic part number.
The service manager at Lexus had 1 of his guys pull the headrest out of an 05 RX330 and it plugged right into my 05 Avvy, the color even matched up perfectly.
I called my audio store had them order me one. Should be here in a couple days and then the kid will again have a DVD player to keep her amused. 3 yr olds get bored pretty quick
Circuit City says they cannot install the Sony MV900svs overhead in the Sienna LE because of the overhead audio system footprint is wider than the Sony system. My dealer tells me that they can install it if I get the bezel that Sony will sell to me which will allow for the fit. When I call Sony, they don't know wat I'm talking about. Has anyone else had my experience? I don't like the Myron Davis and really want the all-in-one Sony 9" screen. HELP!!!
I have a 2002 Eddie Bauer Expedition I bought used, and it came with a VCP installed in the center console. I would like to replace the VCP with a DVD player that is wired so that I can unplug the VCP and plug in the DVD (no RCA or coax, just the straight factory wiring). Can anyone show me where I can purchase one of these units? Thanks!
Was this the 9" panasonic advertised by Circuit City? I don't see any pictures in this thread, are they someplace else on the web site? I just took my '05 Odyssey EX-L into Circuit City and they said the Panasonic, Sony, and Audiobahn units were too large to fit between the sunroof and ceiling vents. They offered a smaller, cheap-looking Liquid Video unit instead, but I left as I did not like that unit.
Hello All I have just purchased a 2005 Cad. STS, which has the DVD/NAV system in the dash. I can play DVD's from park, but cannot play them while driving. Has anyone figured out how to turn this "safety" feature off? Thanks.
I'm looking to buy a ceiling mounted LCD monitor with built-in DVD player for my 04 Sienna that could play DVD+RW discs. Could someone share their experience if their unit play back DVD+R AND DVD+RW disc type. Thanks a lot.
Were you ever able to get DVD's copied with DVDXCopy to work in your Odyssey? I am having the same problem with my 2005 Pilot. I have tried both DVD+R and DVD-R movies but neither one seems to play. I am able to play store bought DVD's but would prefer to keep copies of my kids favorites in the car. Whenever I insert a copied movie I get the DVDXCopy warning page and cannot go any further. Please let me know what work around you have found other than using different copy software.
Hi! We just bought a new 2005 Dodge Caravn SE yesterday and are excited to buy and install a DVD system. After visiting Best Buy yesterday, we were told that we needed to first let the technicians see our vehicle to make sure they could install a system "because it is so new". Now, while looking at systems online, we are finding that some will not fit. We have the very base model, no sunroof, etc. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Can anyone make a recommendation? Thanks so much.
Try using DVD Shrink along with DVD Decrypter. The software is free (just Google them), and should allow copying to both DVD+R and DVD-R discs (I only ever use DVD+R's).
I used to use DVD Xcopy, but had a lot of compatibility problems. So that's why I searched for any found the above software solutions.
I have an AVH-P7500DVD in my Scion xB, in message #21 i noticed that there was mentions of a bypass on a momentary switch using the brake. But I'de like to make it where it plays both without a switch and without having the parking brake on. How could i wire it so that it plays any time i turn it on? Thanks for any help! ;]
I have a 2004 Sienna XLS with rear seat audio package. I just purchased a factory Toyota Sienna DVD player. What cables/parts do I need to install the DVD player? Thanks for any help.
I was just curious about how bothersome an in car DVD player is while driving at night? Particularly the light flashing. Similar to the overhead light causing glares sometimes.
on the positioning. Usually they are behind the front row. I've had a laptop in the back seat for the kids to watch DVDs, that's a huge 14" screen (bright active matrix too) and it doesn't distract me at all.
In fact if the kids are happy I'd say you're a *lot* safer driving peacefully.
i was wondering if kenwood has a bypass switch for there mobile video. all i have seen is apline switches. i plan to get the kenwood excelon ddx7015 model is there a switch for it?
We just purchased the titled vehicle on Saturday. It has the Entertainment group which includes the 6-disc CD changer and the single DVD. We were told by the dealer that this model doesn't come with wireless headphones. We can't seem to locate the infared transmitter. Will wireless headphones work? I've never heard of a DVD system that doesn't accept some type of headphones. I also wanted to know if you could listen to the radio while the kids are listening to the DVD on the headphones (if they work).
My wife contacted Chrysler directly with the VIN, but they were no help. They referred us to the dealer.
I have a 2001 Toyota Sienna. It has a VHS player factory installed under the left rear seat, behind the driver. I want to install a DVD player in a little more convenient place in the car, say next to the passengers left hand. Has anyone out there done this or even heard of this issue? Any ideas would be appreciated. Don't need the screen or headphones. I have everything except an idea and the hardware.
we have a 00 sienna and the DVD is under the 2nd row seat. Its a bench seat. If its a small one then you can try the glove box but i wouldnt put it in between the passenger & driver as you will inadvertently step on it. The DVD also comes with a remote with its "eye" just above the radio unit. other than changing the disc everything is remote operated.

Is it possible? Thanks.
Have a 2004 Odyssey with DVD Player, but have been unsuccessful (to-date) getting home-burned DVD's to play in it.
I've only tried DVD+RW's... has anyone had success with DVD-R, DVD+R, or DVD-RW discs?
Thanks in advance!

I hope this helps others who are looking for an aftermarket system.
1) is the player in-dash or somwehwere else?
2) can you control the audio thru car audio system? Is it thru FM modulator or is it wired?
3) Screen size?
4) Total cost of unit?
5) Cost of installation?
6) Model #s
7) Does it have a TV tuner with antenna? If so, how well does it work?
8) Does it decrease head space by much?
sorry for so many questions.
Got an EX-L yesterday without RES.
can you also email me answers directly to

thanks so much.
That tends to defeat the purpose of a message forum - which is to share information and experience. Stick around and enjoy the ambience! :-)

Does the screen on yours vibrate and shake? Mine does.
Does your headliner seem to have a lot more 'give' to it, not quite sagging but it seems the system is not attached to anything - but the headliner.
Is all this correct?
I do not have the moonroof - so I assumed the install would go more smoothly, but for the moment, I am not a happy owner.
I am wondering if Sony under engineered this product.
I may have to go back to CC to see the Panasonic - and the Panasonic screen also turns.
