I love everying else about the car - except the recent hassle I had getting my flat PAX tire replaced on my Touring. However, knowing what I know now, I would have waited for the '06 models to come out, to give them time to get their act together and hopefully get some of the problems fixed.
I will drive all the time on the highway with the windows down and moonroof open, especially in the summer (free AC!). Yeah, people look at you funny when it's 90 out.
In reality it costs you more (in gas) to do this over running AC. The wind resistance of your car with all windows opened is much much higher than with them closed.

I used to drive the Miata on the highway (small doses) top down and windos down. That generated some airflow. Also got a great view of the trucks wheel hubs.

I used to have a towyota 4 Runner that had a power window in the tailgate, crack this window open 1 inch and open the sunroof and Voila - not a peep of air noise.
with the 05 EXL open two side windows and it is not a issue of noisy buffeting that is an annoyance. THE BUFFETING NOISE IS SO BAD IT CAN GIVE YOU AND INSTANT EARACHE THAT IS UNBEARABLE.
I doubt that you experienced this in your 93 Corolla or any other car for that matter. This is serious stuff.
My choices are to lock out the windows with the switch which is an inconvenience to me Or to argue with the kids who inadvertantly open the windows on their own. One kid opens a window then the other one wants it open. Good Grief - this problem should not be so bad. Take my word for it I bet Honda will eventually make the back quarter windows tilt out again - this was a good and efficient form of moving air in the vehicle.
[Shrug] I heard some buffeting in the Ody with the second row windows open so I cracked open a front row window an inch and it was greatly lessened, if not eliminated. My son in his car seat didn't seem to care.
My college beater had no a/c but had pwr windows and sunroof. I had a blast (literally) driving that car on the hwy with all of them open.
First they wouldn’t open, or close in Automatic, shut vehicle off, and they started working.
Next, Power doors, wouldn’t close fully. Had to try and shut them manually.
Then after shutting door, door ajar light and alarm went off, and doors were closed.
Now buzzing noise coming from Passenger Doors, needs new motor, bought vehicle in December, and this is
2nd major problem with Odyssey. The door problem has been going on for 1 week. Finally dealer found bad motor.
Defroster doesn’t blow much air on Floor to heat feet. They can't fix that, cause Honda says it’s not a problem.
Should of bought Ford Freestyle, it's quicker and has AWD.
Honda, I not impressed. First Honda Vehicle, soon to be my last.
Overpriced, and quality sucks!!!
Don’t buy a first year vehicle, which the touring model is. Don’t care who Manufacturer is. It has problems,
And it takes a year or two to them fixed!!
To all the folks out there, trust me, I wouldn't say this if it were not so bad!
Steve
The fan (which is quite noisy by the way because it must just sit under the front window) makes noise like it is blowing like crazy, but there is very little air coming out of the floor vents and hence the cold feet. I had been meaning to go to the dealer and check out other 05 Odys. I never made it and was afraid I would hear 'it is up to factory specs". I thought maybe there is a shop towel stuck in the vents.
My solution (if you can call it that) is to close the far left and far right dashboard vents and thereby force more air out of the foot vents. So why is that fan so noisy - with so little air coming to the feet????
Honda you did it again. were you thinking a pickup truck might be a bigger seller.
Any comments from you folks in the Great White North on the cold feet issue.
Closing all the vents and forcing all the air to the floor doesn't do the trick.
Sad to say, but they missed this one. All the other cars and Van I've driven, once the vehicle warms up, produces more than enough heat for cold or wet feet.
Not his Odyssey!!!

Every car I've ever owned did that.
It is now in manual mode.
But you might get door open on Dash, as I did, and after motor burns itself out,
You can open the doors manually, which of course defeats the purpose of power doors.
Also, the power lift gate also doesn’t work, must be opened and closed in manual mode.
But come to think about it, if it had a decent output engine, the Freestyle would probably be a great alternative to those that don't require the volume of a minivan, want AWD, but see no realistic purpose for that hulkin SUV.
Steve
The kids in the back never complained about heat.
Power sliding doors do not work a majority of the time, very similar problem to yours.
Brought it to Honda Dealer, it was working, they couldn't do anything.
Also had slow leak in Tire Pressure Monitor, checked tires, and pressure was off 8lbs.
Honda Dealer said nothing was wrong, no nails or anything, and unless it was flat, they couldn't do anything.
Called Honda Corporate to no Avail, went on line here, went to Michelin, and they sent me back to same Honda Dealer.
Major Run Around.
Make long story short, after a week of constantly re filling air pressure, I threatened lawsuit, and lo and behold, Honda dealer
After consulting with Michelin replaced tire free of charge.
Power doors still not working right, but until they die, I have to live with them.
You are right, First year vehicle, which touring is, have manufactures defects.
I would rather have an 04 Odyssey than an 05 with problems.
And the treatment I received from Honda really shocked me.
Never will I buy a Honda again, unless it was 2-3K cheaper than Hyundai, which is now beating Honda in quality.
Shame on you Honda.
For comparison, a few years back, the "old" Chevy Malibu also scored the highest in it's class for a year. The cars ratings were junk in a few years.
:confuse:

i'm assuming the market you are in is served by more than one dealership within a reasonable driving distance...
why don't you consider calling another dealership, ask for a service writer and calmly explain what is happening with the doors. leave out all non-essential information about the other dealership's inability to solve the problem. just describe what happens and the frequency of occurance in a factual manner.
assuming they invite you in, when you show up, be very complimentary and appreciative of the specific service writer (seek out him or her) for taking your call and for writing up the issue and putting one of the mechanics on the problem.
be optimistic, appreciative, trusting...chances are dealership #2 will take care of the problem.
if they perform some work on the doors, ask them what was done and what you should look for - ask what they recommend if they continue to act up. you might need a follow-up visit...if they cannot ultimately solve the problem, then you've got something to go to Honda Corporate with (two dealerships unable to fix the problem)...
i highly doubt you have to live with the door operation as it currently is.
perhaps it's time to start over. try a different approach at a different dealership without all the pre-loading about quality of the product and quality of the service. hopefully they will win your confidence and your future business and you will enjoy your vehicle.
I am also experiencing the same symptoms with my 2001 Odyssey with 58,000 miles. The dealer is down to guessing that the valves need to be adjusted for $350. If that does not work then the next step is to replace all the injectors for about another $800. Did you get anywhere with this?
I took twice to dealer who relate this to wheel alignment which is NOT the issue. Hope someone responds to this problem. I also hope this is NOT a transmission problem with the 2003 oddyssey's.
not very good. So I know people with 2002 and before had problems.
That was the main reason they started giving 100K warranties.
Have you seen the reviews of the 2005 Sonata’s. They are awesome.
In my opinion, Honda has slipped, and when I think of quality, I think of Honda service, and I'm sorry, Toyota simply blows them away.
There was a time not too long ago when that wasn’t the case.
And yes, I mentioned defrost, and that was mistake. Heat in the winter with all vents closed, directed at your feet, and fan on the highest is the worst of any vehicle I ever owned. And try it without stereo on; it’s extremely noisy, as in no place for the air to go, like the vent is clogged.
And since you got me started, these Run Flats, scare me. Too many people are having problems, there still needs to be a spare.
We have LOTS of problems with our Odyssey. It has been back to dealer 6 times
already. My wife is thinking to sell it, but we will loose so much money, we have to wait for few more years. And luckily, we have not had transmission problems yet.
Good luck.
I'll bet I've seen this "problem" addressed in these forums 100 times.
It's the ABS sustem doing a self-test of some kind. a lot of cars will do this.
It's normal
Since this board is about the Honda Odyssey, we might compare the Odyssey to the Kia (Hyundai) Sedona. In a different world in all areas, though the Sedona fit and finish is good.
it almost seems like the cable stretched (or the anchors got out of adjustment) and it isn't pulling it all the way to latch. anyone know if this is the issue and how to adjust it.
I tried adjusting the door jamb and the hook itself, but that didn't do it.
thanks
