Can someone please explain what you mean by an "order being picked up" and going through the rest of the process before it is shipped. I know I have been waiting 13 weeks thus far and obviously there will be several more.
Thanks, Mroffshore

Now the BIGGEST surprise was the ride. I have the optional LT 265/75 R16 tires. Empty, this truck rides as smooth as my son's '98 Explorer Sport!
There is so much more room in the cab! There appears to be 2 or 3 extra inches in the back seat for leg room and the seat doesn't need a riser kit either. The sound system is wonderful (for a guy with 2 hearing aids). I've noticed that the final drive is slightly lower than my old '92. I'm turning 50-100 more RPMs at 70 MPH. The trailer towing electrical controlled mirrors are great. They are in two parts. Regular and convex. I don't know how to adjust the smaller convex ones yet but the combination is GREAT. There is a gotcha or two when having an alarm installed. I'll post a separate topic on that one when I get more leisure time.
You must be one happy camper!
As far as the convex mirrors are concerned, If they are integrated as part of the regular mirrors, I don't think you can adjust them except by adjusting the entire unit. Keep in mind, however, that the smallest adjustment on the regular mirrors will be amplified in the convex ones.
Happy trails to you in your new Ford!
I also opted for the same tires as you did and more so by accident. The dealer made the recomendation and I went along with it. I guess I made a good choice.
Best of luck to you and your new Truck!

I'm at 8+ weeks and counting. My order hasn't been picked up yet. It sounds like the delay is the SOF and the premium wheels for the Lariat. It's starting to look like it may be more than 12 weeks. It sounds like several people have had close to four month waits. Hopefully that will speed up for your order since they should be getting close to remedying the two delays that I have heard about.
mroffshore,
I am waiting to market my truck until I get build and delivery dates. I've got nothing to drive in the interim, so I'd have to rent a car. No big deal for a week or two, but I'd have to get top dollar for the truck if I sold it now and had to rent a car for a couple months. I have a 92 F-250HD 4x4 with 85,000 miles. The buyer's guides say it has a retail value of around $11,500, so I stuck a sign in the window with that figure on it. I'm not advertising and don't expect any serious bites. As soon as I get my delivery date, I plan to place an ad in the paper with a price of about $9,900 OBO. That should generate some calls. I expect a quick sell since I have some flexibility with the price.
I sold my 90 F-250LD 4x4, V-8 302 with 56,000 miles for $10,500 over the internet (www.classified2000.com) and I am now borrowing friends cars to get to work. I didn't think it would sell at the advertised price of $11,000, but I didn't want to turn away a buyer for a little less than advertised. I had two other people that showed interest in my truck by word of mouth. My new F250 is scheduled to arrive on Monday the 25th. If it doesn't, I guess I'll have to keep cashing in favors.

Glad to hear some of them are being delivered though, congrats to all of you who are getting yours.
Here is another horror story that will make a 12-16 week more bearable. A guy in Canada ordered his truck in January. After repeated attempts to figure out what the deal was on his truck, he got a call directly from Ford (not the dealer). Ford said that the Canada allotment for duallys is the problem, and he likely won't get his truck until August. Ouch!
Brutus, what was the deal with the SOF feature? I ordered this feature and I hope there will not be any head aches! May be thats why it took longer to get the truck assumming it shows up in the next couple of days. I realize there were other factors but the truck was supposed to here May, 11th.

After I ordered it I continued to check around the make sure I got a "deal". The closest deal I came across was $1000 over invoice. Most dealers in this area just laugh and tell you wild stories about deliveries if you ask them to deal on the price. I had one dealer tell me that it would take a $1000 to get on the waiting list. They wouldn't be able to place the order for 6 months and it would be a fourteen week delivery after that. And the "kicker" was that there was no price guaranty. This is one of the down sides of living in this area.
Anyway congrats to you who have gotten yours. And to the guy who said it's like waiting for a baby to arrive, You Aren't Kidding>
You have to understand, IT IS THE NEW BABY!

I placed my order for an F250SD XLT, 4x4, Superbcab long bed with SOF and all the options to bring it back up to the lariat package on March 31. I paid $500 over invoice and picked up my truck on May 21. The truck came in about $100 over the origional quote and the dealer ate the cost because I ordered the truck at a set price and it wasn't subject to change. I think the dealers in your area either don't sell enough trucks to get very many of the new ones in or they are trying to pull a fast one on you. I live in West Virginia and my dealer sells a lot of trucks. My deliverly time was short, because they only make the new SD trucks in Kentucky, right next door to WV. I hope you don't have too much hassle getting your new truck. It is one awesome truck!!!
From what I can tell, the SOF delay has been remedied on the assembly line, so it shouldn't cause further delays for trucks that have yet to be built. However, if you had a truck that was built when the SOF problem was discovered, and it was shipped to the holding lot, it's my understanding that you may not get your truck until mid-June, even if it was built last month. They supposedly have mechanics changing out the SOF parts, which takes just under 30 minutes per vehicle.
I got this info off of the F-250/F-350 site referenced a couple posts earlier. If you check out the site, I would recommend a shortcut that will save you from reading alot of the posts. There is one guy named Ray who writes Ford tech manuals and is an auto engineer. He's got over 20 years in the auto industry and he has contacts at Ford. If you just check out his posts, you'll get a lot of useful information.
My idiot sales guy is showing the truck and flips the ESOF to 4X4. He then jumps out of the cab telling us that we have to turn the hubs. I say no way...but he doesn't listen and the hub pops out in his hands. It took him and a service tech one and 1/2 hours to put the blasted thing back on. I was going crazy...
Once on the road though, the rig drives great...every other truck driver on the road is checking it out. Now I have to get my slide in camper on it. That should be another experience.
No, as far as I can tell, that is the only thing that I could not add on the XLT that is included in the lariat package. I would have liked to have added that option, but it became a choice between getting the overhead console and having to settle for the leather seats, and I didn't want the leather.
package, you will automatically get the overhead console with the trip and fuel meter or do you have to request it as an additional option? I ordered the
lariat pkg. and I was never told or was made aware of such a feature existed. I knew I was getting the leather seats and power seats but I did not know anything about the above. Could you clarify that for me. I expect the truck in any day now!
Mroffshore
If you ordered the Lariat with the leather, you will get the overhead console with the trip computer. You can see a complete list of all the options included with the truck you ordered at the Kelley Blue Book site (www.kbb.com). The remote keyless entry is another included option.
I think Brutus answered your question. It is standard with the lariat package. I wish it was an option, because I would have added to my XLT. I did add the remote keyless entry, dual power mirrors, 6 way power drivers seat,...to get my XLT back up to the lariat package.
I will try the web page you just recommended at Kellys blue book. I guess at the time of order even the dealer did not realize what was what since this vehicle was so new.
Thanks Mroffshore
Kirkpama,
Did the sum of the parts w/o the leather exceed the Lariat package cost with the leather? I am curious what the big beef against the leather is. I have found several people who have voiced the same opinion. Just curious. Personally, I wanted the leather. It's easier to clean up spills or dry off wet seats, whether coming from the beach, the pool, out of the rain, or even when you're soaked with sweat after a workout. You treat it periodically, like when you wax your truck, and it will last.
I don't know whether it is a generation thing or what? I am 34 and most of the people that I know in my age range prefer cloth seats to leather. To me, leather is just a fancy vinyl. I not saying that there is anything wrong with it, I just like cloth better. Vinyl and leather seats get very hot when the sun has been beating down on them. By going with the XLT and adding in the options to get back to the lariat package except for the cab steps, I save just over $1000.00 and got my cloth seats that I wanted.
do either of you owe one?
I checked out the Kelly blue book site and I do see they mentioned the overhead console ect. we talked about earlier today. It was listed or burried seperately at the end of 9 pgs. I printed out! Also, I was charged atleast in the quote, for the cab steps. According to this report/invoice, the cab steps are standard equipment on the Lariat pkg. At the time I ordered the truck, the sales manager gave me the invoice price for the cab steps and the rear bumper because he forgot to add them in originally. I guess I should bring that to his attention, apparently I should not be charged for the cab steps. What do you guys think?
Thanks Mroffshore!
The cab steps are standard in the lariat package...don't let him charge you for them again.
Sacemc,
I just picked up my 99 F250 4x4, supercab, LWD on Thursday and I love it! It is an awesome truck. I used to have a regular cab F250 and this new truck still seems huge.
Since I didn't add the cab step back in, I went back and added up all of the options to make the XLT as close to the lariat as possible and the XLT is $443 cheaper than the lariat. Earlier, I forgot to add the passanger air bag back in. The lariat package is still a good deal if you want or don't mind the leather seats, because I couldn't add the overhead console back on and you get a slightly better wheel with the lariat package. Don't take my opinion on the leather seats the wrong way. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with leather, I just prefer cloth.
Mroffshore
If you go see the truck, it will be hard to walk away and tell them to order another one. You will want to drive away in the new truck. I guess you will have to decide if you can live without the SOF. I have always had manual hubs until now and I never had a problem locking in the hubs when I needed them, but it is your call.
Good luck!
Also a minor problem with the tires, I ordered the Lt-265 OWL AT tires and it came through with some thing less. Easy to remedy. And finally the color was disappointing. No offense to those who ordered woodland green, I could have lived with it but I did not like it. It did not look any thing close to what the dealer thought it would look like back in Feb. when I first ordered the truck. They showed me a 98 Windstar and said it was close to woodland green, thats why we chose it. It looks more like the color of the PEA'S I pushed off my plate as a kid! HAHA! So I now went with the Hunter Green.
The bottomline is this. The sales mgr. said it would realistically be 5-6 more weeks even with the highest priority they assigned to the order which was a 10. He said it goes from 10 up to 40, with 40 being the lowest priority. Sure it's killing me to wait longer but I want it right. Many have suffered far greater then I will even though I'm in a borrowed little junker with out air. I did'nt expect to sell my old truck so fast either. Yes there was alot of temtation today but I won the battle in a sense.
I will say this about the new crew cabs and the rest of the 99's, they are awsome looking trucks barr none!

My F-350 was build on May 11 with ESOF and it works fine as long as I can keep the saleman away from the wheels...FYI, deep blue with silver accent is is stunning!!
