I've leased 2006 Pilot EXL- 2WD with navigation system and 15k/year. I am reaaly impressed with the car. I live in Lansing, Michigan, however, I called about 5 dealrs around Lansing (different towns) in order to get the best deal. I was able to save $20/ month in my lease by doing this. I put $2500 down and now I pay $356/month for 42 months including tax. The value of the vehicle is $31679 and the residual value is $16951. I was quated $339/month for 12K/month. Is this a good deal? Please let me know.

Per my last post, this is what I have done.

I put 2,500 down on an EXL w/Navi of a total price of 32,750 from Lehigh Valley Honda in Pa. I researched around and found much better prices elsewhere in NJ with andyrus's help. Called up LV Honda and they took it down to 32,200 and couldnt match any better. They threatened not to give my deposit back, but they did and I went to NJ dealerships since they were giving much better quotes. Got Clinton Honda to sell me a EXL 4WD with Navi for 31,200 including the destination and handling. They didnt have the color I wanted, but they are ordering the silver for me. Looks like this was just about the best deal I could get. Union NJ was also giving me the same price, but it is another 45 min drive so I rather use Clinton even if Union could beat the price by a 100 or 200 dollars. Has anyone gotten a EXL 4WD with Navi cheaper than this?
  • gasssmangasssman Member Posts: 2
We just bought our EX-L 4WD with Navi yesterday for about the same: $31, 258 including destination for Lodi Honda, Lodi, California. Next cheapest quote was for $32,258. I emailed about 20 dealers throughout Nor Cal, but they are rather scarce out here right now.

Thought I would share my experiences since this site was quite helpful in providing information and guidance before we purchased our vehicle.

Started contacting dealers on Tuesday and purchased following Pilot on Friday: 2006 AWD EX-L with Towing Package and Running Boards for 31,006 plus tax, license and doc. fee. Breakdown: Vehicle - $29,300; Towing Package and Running Boards - $1,706; Tax, License and Doc. Fee - $2,880.

Initial responses to my request ranged from $980 under invoice to a few hundred dollars over invoice for the vehicle (close to $1,000 difference in quotes) and $1,500 to over 2,000 for the requested accessories. Some of the dealers who quoted over invoice later came down by $780 to $29,500. Some dealers never want to put their offer in writing. Need to be careful when dealer only says to come in and they will beat offer!

Originally was planning to get vehicle at Metro Honda (Montclair, CA.). Price would have been same for vehicle and $200 less for Towing Package and Running Boards. Talked to sales person on day that I was going in to sign contract and was told that vehicle was sold. Salesperson was going to check on availability of another Steel Blue Metallic Pilot but never called back! Would avoid Metro Honda. Extremely unprofessional conduct not to call back or admit that they could not deliver the vehicle for the agreed upon price.

Called Diamond Bar Honda (CA.) and was told that they would match the Metro quote. Unfortunately ended up paying $1,706 rather than $1,505 for the Towing Package and Running Boards. Still consider price for vehicle to be very good. Price for Towing Package a little high but definitely wanted Towing Package to be installed by dealer. A few other dealers would have matched the lowest quotes for both vehicle and accessories but I did not want to keep negotiating and Diamond Bar was closest dealer. Decided early on that I would get a low quote and just check once with other dealers to see if they could do better.

Also had pleasant conversations or correspondence with Downey Honda (Downey, CA.), Spirit Honda (Monrovia, CA.), Weir Canyon Honda (Anaheim, CA.), and Riverside Honda (Riverside, CA). If you live in Southern California I would recommend contacting internet sales at these dealerships. Most of these dealers would have matched initial lowest quote. Some of the willingness to deal and numerous low quotes probably based on meeting end of the year and/or monthly goals.

Good luck to all of you who are considering purchasing a Pilot. My wife and I are extremely pleased with the 2006 AWD EXL.

How did you convince them to give your deposit back? I gave a $300 deposit on a lease Saturday. The dealer didn't have the color I wanted and was going to look for one and get back to me today. I haven't yet signed all of the lease papers because they don't have a VIN yet. I've found out that I didn't get a good deal at all. I live in Wichita, KS so there aren't a lot of dealers around, but I'm willing to drive 200 miles to get a better deal!
  • akalbermakalberm Member Posts: 3
When I signed the paperwork, there were several spots to intial. The one regarding the deposit I initialed, but the sales person told me that they always give the money back and he didnt think they ever kept it (just as I was signing without even asking). He informed me that the form was a generic form that almost every dealership orders, and just puts thier own header on the top left section. In knowing this, I called thier bluff, while they kept telling me that they would not give it back, when I showed up and push came to shove and they counldn't match the price, I just asked for the refund and they gave it to me. I imagine it is worth doing in your case because even if you dont get your $300 back, you will have that much savings in going somewhere else for the lease... Sounds like the same type of situation. If you put the deposit on a credit card or check, just cancel the payment so it can't go through... Then you dont have to worry if they are giving it back or not.

Hey there. I'm trading my '04 Accord EX-V6 for a Pilot (actually, have been very close to going with a Volvo XC90, but can't pull the trigger knowing what you get in the Pilot...and for how much less). The dealer I purchased two Accords from is offering $29,300, including destination, with TTL extra. That's the FWD EX-L with no nav or DVD. Basically invoice price.

I paid much less than invoice for my Accord a year and a half ago. Should I be expecting to get them to go under invoice on the Pilot?

    Thanks,

    waltaz

My friend got the 2006 EX-L 4WD in bay area california for 1200 below invoice on dec 28th. I got my 2006 EX 2WD for 1200 below invoice. The invoice price includes destination. you can expect to negotiate for about 3% holdback and 550 destination charges on invoice price.

    Good Luck

My husband just negoitiated our lease for a 2006 Pilot EXL 2WD this past weekend and our deal was that we put NO $$$ down, $334/month for 42 mos. + free car washes for the life of the lease, first 3 oil changes free, and tire rotations. (We're near Dallas Texas.) I love the Pilot also, but who knows if it's a good deal or not, hard to tell. All we know is we are saving $77/mos we were paying for our Odyssey and we put nothing down out of our pockets (never have for any lease)... so it seems good to me. :shades:

I bought an 06 EX-L FWD 3 weeks ago from Tempe Honda internet dept. for $29,100. Price included destination, rear cargo mat, and front window tint. This was the best deal out of 2 quotes from Tuscon and 2 Phoenix area quotes. We like the Pilot alot. Good Luck!

I am having a hard time getting a decent deal on a AWD with Nav in the Bay Area - they seem to be in very scarce supply. A few weeks ago I had a quote for invoice (32257), and I saw a posting that Oakland Honda sold one for below invoice (31800). This week-end, the best quote I have is for 33257 (1K above invoice) unless I go to Stockton (32958, still 700 above invoice). And most places have just one or at most two of these, with not much selection of colors (none is sagebrush which is what my wife wants).

My choice has come down to

    a. Buy a 2WD with Nav (good deals - like 1K below invoice) - can be had on these. In San Jose, I don't really need 4WD, but we had convinced ourselves that its worth having the 4WD for trips to Tahoe in the winter).

    b. Wait for a few weeks, then try again

    c. Hold my nose and pay 33257 today

(giving up the Nav is not an option unless I want to fight my wife, which is never a good idea ;-)).

Any thoughts on prices coming down in a few weeks when the mad rush to buy 4WD for the ski season slows down ?
  • tinatinatinatina Member Posts: 388
Sunil, I would be inclined to wait off a bit, if you really want the AWD unit. I noticed that the dealers I inquired for an EX Pilot AW (cloth) wanted $500 above invoice and they would not go below invoice. I think its due to two factors, lack of AWD units available (the 2wd units are available and are being discounted)and the fact that AWDs tend to be in greater demand at this time of year due to the ski season.

I thought that dealers would be having some good sales, but I was wrong. I am in your neck of the woods (N. California)and I was hoping that the sales would be down due to the poor weather here.

Well, now I have a quote for 31757 for the AWD, EX-L, with Navi - from Oakland Honda (that's 500 below invoice). The catch ? He does not have the car in stock (I have to buy the VIN, then it gets in to his dealership in approx 10 days). It is a 75 mile drive from my house to Oakland, and the dealerships in my neighbourhood (San Jose) are not willing to consider going that low (best I get is 1600 more - 33257, Stevens Creek). Has anybody ever done this before ? Any recommendations on if I should go for this or just wait it out ?

  • tinatinatinatina Member Posts: 388
Did you try Honda of Hayward, or maybe Hansel Honda in Petaluma or Manly Honda in Santa Rosa? But it sounds like you got a good price with Honda of Oakland, that is a big difference, or see if Stevens Creek will match it.

I was just wondering what the invoice price is for a 2006 EX-L 4WD, without navigation and DVD?
    Thanks for your help.
  • sunilsunil Member Posts: 52
30280 (including the 550 dest), 29725 without the dest.

Edmunds TMV will show you MSRP, invoice, and what buyers are paying - so you can just look at all the other trim levels there, very handy... (although for readers of this forum who are good negotiators, the "avg price that buyers pay" tends to be 1K or so higher than you would pay...)

Does anyone know upcoming specials on financing or rebates on 2006 Pilot after Jan 3? I'm deciding on what to do Tuesday (Jan 3). Buy the Pilot EX-L with DVD for: 31800 plus tax, tag, and 299 doc fee and finance at 4.9% for 60 months or wait and hope for rebate or better rate??? Any advice would be appreciated. . . Thanks!
  • pltbyrpltbyr Member Posts: 15
Did you try Winter Honda(65 miles from San Jose) and Sunnyvale Honda(try to talk to their Internet Sales).

Also I noticed you had some question regarding 2WD and 4WD. One of the key difference is VCM(3cyliner shuts off when you are crusing to save fuel.) If you are not using 4WD drive a lot then you might want to consider that.

    Good Luck

I just bought a pilot 06 AWD EX-L/RES with the protection package on 1/1, Here is what I got:

    Car: 29628.00
    Des: 550.00
    Fees: 399.00
    Protection Package: 978.00
    tax 0.06: 1893.30
    title: 31.00
    Drive out price is 33479.3

    Down: 3200.00

still owe 30300 with 4.90 interest rate for 60 months.

I got it from gwinnett place honda in GA. You guys can use this for the guide line. I might paid too much or just right. I don't know, but you guys can use it for negotiaion for your vehicle. I like pilot, it a good car.

Good luck to eveyone and happy new year.

I just had a great experience in Open Road Honda, Edison NJ. Bought the car yesterday, no hassle, great service.
Originally I was set on the VW Toureg, but considering I have two little kids with lots of "junk" to carry this car is a more practical, all around family vehicle and I saved around $9K - the only regret, it's a no head turner as Toureg would be, but I guess once you're a family man you need to get your priorities straight :-)
I walked in with my wife, got a quick test drive, she loved it and this is what we got without any haggling or negotiations needed.

    06 Black Pilot, EX-L $28,931
    plus $550 Destination Charge
    minus $8000 trade-in
plus $150 registration transfer (this might get lower)
    plus $298 fees
    plus $7.50 tire tax (???)
    Total $23,225
    down $3,225
    Finance $20,000 at %4.9 for 60 months

I think this was a fair deal, from what I can tell nicely below invoice price, and on top of it you get 3-year free oil changes and a free remote starter.

    I'm happy.

I bought a 2006 Pilot AWD EXL/Navi before Christmas in Atlanta. Here is the deal:

$32250 including destination, FPF anti-acid coating, wheel locks, cross bars and mud guards.
  • jacpotjacpot Member Posts: 5
waltaz, the best quote I have gotten from local dealers is $100 below invoice for a 06 EXL FWD w/ Navi. From my experience Showcase Honda seem most willing to negotiate. Also keep in mind the difference in tax rate between the various city, for example Avondale is 8.5% and Peoria is 7.5%, that's a difference of $300 on a $31K vehicle. Good luck on your search and be sure to post any good deals that you may come up on in AZ. Thanks.

I got the 7yr/100k extended warranty from the dealer through
CNA. It was $200 cheaper tha Honda CAre and covers exactly the same stuff. ANything I should be careful about with CNA.

I purchased an '06 Pilot EXL AWD from Herb Chambers on 12/31/05. I shopped hard but they seemed to want the deal the most. I paid $780 below invoice and received $800 more for my 2002 Acura MDX than the Kelley Blue Book value. I took the 2.9% for 3 years and so far I am very happy with the entire experience.

The '02 MDX was a great vehicle but already there are several things that I like better on the Pilot like the stereo, ride quality, acceleration to name a few. I would recommend the '06 Pilot to anyone shopping for an SUV.

Pre-tax Price: 28981 (including destination) from IL delaer
    Doc fee: 55
drive away sticker: $10 (I live in WI)
    Down: 7000
rest incl the extended warranty: 2.9% for 3yrs
    Steel metallic blue.
Additionally, I bought an extended money-back warranty for $1480 to cover upto 7yrs/75K miles. I can cancel that within 60 days if I wish to. If there are no claims at the end of the 7 yrs, the agreement says, they will give me back the 1483$. Should I keep this warranty, or cancel it?

Hey stradivarius, good deal from Herb Chambers. I checked with them and they wouldn't make a similar deal with me - so good deal! Out of curisity, what were the 'additional fees' you paid (eg. doc, title, plate, etc.)? Seems thats where a lot of dealers inflate/make their profits. Take care and thanks. TG

:) Just bought an Black 2006 Pilot EX-L, NAV, 2WD for $30,850 thats with the destination. I had a great experience using the internet sales person for all the negotiations at Roebuck Honda in Birmingham, AL. An excellent vehicle.

  • mylakemylake Member Posts: 5
Madison Honda in NJ has offered less than $32000. unfortunately they have only in two colors(desert rock and red) with Navi. i've bought it sage perl EX-L with out Navi at $28900 including destination. you can add $2000 for Navigation.
  • dkdriverdkdriver Member Posts: 26
We still thought it was a good deal, but couldn't find vehicles in stock within a 400 mile radius, making it hard to negotiate as low as we wanted to go. On Monday, last day for 2.9%, drove to Tracy CA from San Jose; they honored the deal I offered over the phone (no haggling!); paid $32,600 (they said this was $400. over invoice) for 06 EXL-Navi 4wd, steel blue color. They gave us $19,300 for our 03 Pilot EXL nav 4wd with 50k and body work needed on the drivers door.

06 Pilot is a MAJOR upgrade from the 03; totally worth it in our eyes. Really wanted the many extra safety features, amzaed by the much better nav and tighter steering, better ride, great to have the middle seats move so our bigger kids can fit their feet in the back! ;)

Drove my new Pilot home tonight. Details:
    - Dealer: Honda Cars of Mesa in Mesa, AZ
    - EX-L 2WD with Navigation
    - Sage Brush Pearl
    - No add-ons - nada. They tried to include the VIN etching, but I told them to take it off.
    - Price: $30,976, including destination. I tried to move them below that, but they would NOT budge. That's a couple hundred below invoice.
    - Got a fair number on my '04 Accord EX-V6 trade - best of any Honda or Volvo dealer I was looking at. Just about at KBB "Excellent" and below Edmund's "Clean"

I will be looking to buy rear flaps, door-edge guards and running boards and MAYBE install them myself. I've never done so on a car of mine. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks all! I am PUMPED!!

I sent them an email yesterday. They happen to have a 4wd ex-l with nav in sagebrush, but they are asking 1500 over invoice, so I am passing for now...

Glad you had a good experience at Honda of Mesa....I offered $28652 + tax + lic on 2WD Pilot EX-L and was told it was $1600 below invoice (they also tried the VIN etching and I told them no). Not sure where they got that number. Sales Manager (?) then came in and, without introducing himself (he gave me his name after I asked who he was), insisted he can't let a Pilot go for invoice. He did show me the invoice & I told him my offer was $550 below invoice, not $1600. He insisted they will not sell below invoice, but would not quote me a price when asked. I gave him my card and said call me when he wanted to sell the vehicle and he refused it saying it wasn't necessary. I then told him that earlier that day Honda of Tempe offered me a 4WD EX-L for $30,300, but I really wanted a 2WD EX-L. He asked who I talked to over there and when I told him the salesperson's name he said he knew him well and called him in front of me to verify what I was telling him!!! Salesperson from Honda of Tempe did verify the amounts.

If this is the sales manager's attitude, and mannerism, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Once he confirmed the numbers I told him on the AWD EX-L he said he would match Honda of Tempe's deal on the same vehicle...which I declined and stood up. As I was leaving he said it was probably better if I bought the vehicle from them anyway. Very UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, INSULTING and had an ATTITUDE problem as well. I will tell everyone I know NOT to buy from Honda of Mesa. Salespeople were fine, this guy was a "winner"!!! Spend your money elsewhere...too many other dealerships want your business and are willing to talk to you rather than insult you. My experience there was totally OPPOSITE of the way I was treated at Honda of Tempe  !!!!

Anyone have any info on dealerships around the Cleveland area for 2006 EX-L AWD w/RES? I just started looking a couple of days ago and here's what I've found so far:

    Dealer #1 $32,218
Dealer #2 $32,100 with 10yr/100k power train warranty, 5yr roadside assistance

I'm willing to drive 150 miles if anyone else has any good dealers to hit up.

I'll bet you were working through the regular sales floor, right? Those guys (anywhere) are a nightmare to deal with and that's where car salesmen get a bad name.

I went through the Fleet/Internet department and had no problem, other than trying to work them on my trade. One of the F/I guys responded to my inquiry from Edmunds with an e-mail containing their price quote. At the time, I was looking at an EX-L 2WD (no nav) and their quote was $29,002, including destination. Right off the bat, no questions asked.

I have had similiar positive experiences with the fleet guys at various other dealerships. The sales floor is another story...

I had a price from other dealers for a Honda Pilot 2006 EX-L with NAV of $30,600. Out of respect, I called the sales rep at Right Honda of Scottsdale whom I test drove a Pilot with for last rights to my price of $30,600. He said over the phone he would match the price. I drove 45 mintues to RIght Honda and they tried to sell me a 1995 Pilot EX-L for $34,500! I walked out only to find the General Manager chasing me down offering the$30,600 for the 06 model. That was after 2 hours of back and fourth on the pricing. I do not recommend Right Honda of Scottsdale. Old Fashion car sales people that make you want to sneak out the back door.
  • kkflierkkflier Member Posts: 4
Yep..I did....but never again!! Horrible experience. I also own an Acura and while they have limits, was treated no where near the way these guys did.
I knew I was not THAT far off...still, these posts helped TREMENDOUSLY and I know what I want and what I will pay (based on what I read here) and sooner or later I'll get it. It's one of the good things when you aren't in a rush to buy a new car. Someone said 29,100 for a AWD EX-L which seems to be about net of the holdback. Not sure....

    Thanks for the reply!

Please don't offer to share names of specific salespeople/F&I contacts. That's the one thing we don't permit here, because it's led to heavy solicitation in the past, and posts with these offers are removed.

We'd love for you to share dealership name, city & state, especially if you had a good experience!
