Billet Silver 06 Pilot EX-L AWD with DVD - $30,798.
  • luisrluisr Member Posts: 2
Thanks that helps. It sounds like you got a good deal for this area. We are looking at $33057 out the door. The problem is that we no one has EXL 4WD w/Nav in sage brush. My wife just had to had that color. We could have taken any other color sooner and probably at a better deal. We are just waiting for it to arrive from the factory.

    lono37,
i emailed your quote to my buddy who lives on long island. he has a quote of 30,500 for the exact car at nanuet honda. he called nardy and was told they could match the nanuet offer but wouldn't go any lower. he told the woman he'd sign tomorrow if she gave him a better offer but she told him no. any advice?

Am currently looking for a good price but so far $29,300 (dest. included) for Pilot 2006 EXL AWD is the best price I ever got. Is this good price already. Thanks

I negotiated a long distance deal for my son-in-law today on a 2006 Pilot EX-L AWD w/Navigation. The deal was made with a simple email and a follow up phone call through Hersons Honda of Rockville, MD. The out the door price including tax, tags and title was $31,700. The other quotes I got were all $33,100 out the door. Hersons lived up to their offer and the deal went quickly and smoothly. In addition Hersons matched the Bernardi Honda online quote of $1,014 for the 6/120k $0 deductible Hondacare warranty. He also got the 4.9% promotional financing through Honda.

Was this for an AWD unit. If so, that was one of the best prices on the Board. In my area, they want $28,200 (includes destination) plus TTL.
  • rsfrsf Member Posts: 15
Just picked up a beautiful 2006 Pilot 2WD EX-L w/DVD (RES) Redrock Pearl with leather interior for $28,800 plus TTL and dealer fee of $599. I couldn't knock down the dealer fee, but was able to knock down the price significantly. I started negotiations at $29,000. Live in the Tampa, FL area for those who are wondering. Paid cash. Very happy with my experience! :D

Thanks artgpo, based on your post last night, I also got the same deal from the same dealership today for my son-in-la and daughter. In fact right now they are driving back in their new Black w tan leather AWD w Navi from the dealership. They just called me and thanked me,a dealer in Leesburg had pulled a bait and switch on them Friday and they walked away. So, thanks to you and Edmunds, they got what is a great deal.
  • artgpoartgpo Member Posts: 483
    Geekay,

You are most welcome. All this proves is that it can be very easy to work a good deal. My son-in-law was headed to that dealer in Leesburg when I was emailed Hersons' offer. He drove an extra few miles but saved $1,400.

    RS,

No, Honda did not offer us any subsidized financing. The financing Honda offered was similar to bank rate financing (a bit under 6% APR).
  • mikemcmikemc Member Posts: 4
    drjlbphd,

Yes, the destination fee was factored in to my price. The dealer I purchased from was Clair Honda, West Roxbury, Mass. I should also note that Honda Cars of Boston also provided a very competitive quote, though they didn't have the car in my preferred color (while Clair did).

Atlanta area dealer......Trading in my Jeep and want a nice basic Honda Pilot. Leather would be nice but don't need a sunroof, more cupholders, etc.. Is the EX really worth the extra money ?

Is this a good deal ? How easy is it to negotiate the processing fee ?

You can own your new 2006 Honda Pilot LX 2WD for:

    $22748.00 Internet Price
    $ 550.00 Destination
    $ 498.00 Processing Fee
    $ 1665.80 Sales Tax at 7%
    $ 19.00 Title
    $ 3.00 GA MVWR

EX has many additional stuff you can refer to the honda list, few note worthy are, the sound system. EX has 6 speakers and a subwoofer. LX sound system has only 4 speakers and less power, sounds is not good in LX. The dash board on LX looks some what subpar. the cloth is different in LX and EX.

Rsf - I'm in Tampa looking for the exact same car (but different color) - what dealer did you get the car at? Can you also tell me the sales person's name?

I've already requested some internet quotes that of course are coming in much higher than what you paid.

    What was your out-the-door price?
  • erical77erical77 Member Posts: 7
We want to buy a Pilot before 5/1/06 to take advantage of the Honda finance offers. I've gotten a few internet quotes, but I think they are pretty high.

What is the $1,000 incentive that everyone keeps mentioning? Is there also a kickback they are receiving?

What amount under invoice should I try to pay (obviously the most possible!) or should I begin negotiations with?

When I got my Accord in 2001, I paid about $500 under invoice and thought that was good, but it seems like today that might not be good enough. I guess I really need to watch out for all the dealer charges too, correct?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    no nav and no res
it was shadyside honda where i bought the car
the monroeville dealer offered the same price
yenko didn't seem to want to talk to me once they realized i was shopping around
    there was no rebates
  • artgpoartgpo Member Posts: 483
The $1,000 is manufacturer to dealer incentive. The dealer can pass it along to you or choose to sell the car at invoice and still make $1,000. I made a deal for my son-in-law this past weekend for a new Pilot. The deal was essentially cost minus the $1,000, so, in this case the dealer put the entire $1,000 into the deal. I would pay no more than $500 under invoice at this point for a Pilot.

498 processing fees is too high. I have exactly the same offer in the DC area. Looks like LX models have pretty hefty incentive from Honda.

Last Tuesday picked up EXL AWD (no nav or res) from Berlin City Honda, northern New Hampshire. $28711 out the door, only fees were $166 for state title/registration. No pressure, very low key salesman. Overall, a good buying experience, especially because they are the closest dealer to us (25 miles away) and the next dealer is at least 75 miles away.

Thank you to Edmunds and all the posters on this site who have given advice and their buying/gas mileage/maintenance experiences.
  • pilotexl06pilotexl06 Member Posts: 5
    Doc fees + destination fee + car price + tax = $28711?

    It's unbelievable!
  • feet2firefeet2fire Member Posts: 13
    Hi pilotex106,

Yes I was surprised too...on their website they had the price as $28545, I was thinking that it would not include the $550 destination charge....but it did. When I asked them what fees they add to that, they only had the $166 title/registration, so total was $28711. We paid no sales tax, live in NH. They have a lot of Pilots on the lot. So did a dealer in Rutland VT we visited the other day. I got the usual sales pitch for $500 fabric protection, paint sealant, etc etc but declined.

    Hi,
Just wanted to know what has been the best prices received for a 2006 Honda Pilot 2WD EX-L, no NAV or DVD, in northern California (Bay Area). One internet site quoted $27952 (including Destination fee), is this good? I think the best I've seen on this forum is $27302, but that was in NH.
    Thank you!
  • rockfanrockfan Member Posts: 7
I got my Pilot last Sat. with a quoted price of $23,300 with a driveout price of $24,900. The sale was done at Russell & Smith Honda in Houston. Does this sound like a good deal? It was at 4K less than the MSRP and was an online deal.

Ready to buy now! Anyone have a recent buying experience that yielded a great deal? Willing to look at any dealer in the Puget Sound area. Thanks in advance for your insight!!!

I paid $28,247 for a lease purchase on 2006 2WD EX-L in the east bay. I also negotiated all weather mats and cross bars on the roof rack into the deal. Your price sounds as low as it will probably go for now in the SF Bay area. Let me know if you find lower and where. BTW, we love our new Pilot - it's better than we expected.
  • teddy_bearteddy_bear Member Posts: 1
Got the similar deal on 2WD LX in Tampa, FL area - $24,700 out the door - including 7% tax, and all fees. The car sale price was $22,580. I think it's a good deal...
  • erical77erical77 Member Posts: 7
The best I seem to be able to do is get invoice price right now - from online quotes and visiting a dealer. Is that okay considering I'm going to take advanatage of the Honda finance offer which means the $1,000 dealer incentive does not apply?

Also - what should I expect/negotiate to pay for sidesteps, a cargo mat and darker front window tinting?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

What should I pay for a 2006 Honda Pilot EXL with RES. I'm located in Florida, Brevard County (Space Coast). Local dealer has one on lot with a $33995 sticker.

Asked for quotes Friday around noon. Made our first car purchase ever the very next day.
The Dublin Honda Internet Department quoted for me my choice, the silver color 2WD EX in fabric $25000 on Friday 04/21/06. OTD $27346.96 today Saturday 04/22/06.
Here's what I think my breakdown is coz I'm just tired of walkin to the car right now to get my paperwork.
    25000 destination included
    2063 8.25% CA tax
    226 Accdg to DMV website
    45 Doc Fee
~13 For tire fee and some other thing I think
    --------
comes out to around my OTD 27346.96

I feel that I got something more than fair w/out all the hassles others are trying to do.Came in late for my 10am appointment at 10:15 and left 11:55am.Yes checked the unit, test drove, credit app, read paperwork, sign and payment, full presentation of features and whatever I had on my buying checklist when I went there. No haggle,no fuss. 10 out of 10 for Dublin Honda Internet Department. Even though Finance Manager got me a better financing rate, I'll give her 9.75 because of the unwanted offers for honda care...she says house cost for 8yr/120K/0deduc is 1590 and is about as low as any honda authorized dealer can go...Hmmm coz in ext warranty section they say I can get this for 1230-1330 elsewhere on some eastcoast honda dealerships.
But anyways...big thanks to Dublin Honda Internet Department

Does anyone have insight in what I can expect to pay and what addtl fees are on top of the final "sale price"? Also, interested in where I might get the best deal and no hassle. Has anyone used a buying service and what are the expected twists and turn with this process?

Finally bought our 06 Pilot 2WD EX-L today for $27,358 + tax and license at Hansel Honda in Petaluma, California. Very nice salesperson and quick transaction since we did all our negotiation via email. I was a bit hesitant after going to the problems forum re: Pilot, but I am hoping because it's a Honda, that we can rely on the Honda's reliability reputation.
  • bennfinebennfine Member Posts: 10
I am starting to get internet quotes on the 2WD EX, and no one is quoting anyting near $25,000 (incl dest). Not even carsdirect.com (are they any good ?).

Have prices magically gone up this week or do I need to bargain harder ?

    Thanks!

Just picked up an EX-L 4WD w/ Nav from Hersons Honda in Columbia, MD (technically I think it's clarksburg or something) for $29707. Add destination, $100 processing, tax and tags. Happy with price. About $5500 below MSRP and $2000 below invoice.
  • rameshtramesht Member Posts: 2
This forum has been very helpful to decide on the price. I paid $26,995 + Taxes for 2006 Pilot 2WD EX-L Silver at Honda of Lisle (Chicago).
I really liked the customer service.
  • mjhbdhmjhbdh Member Posts: 2
This is the quote I received through a local dealer in Florida. Edmonds Invoice is $30640, TMV $31523, Dealer $29340.

Here is your "Out the door" price:
    Msrp $ 33,395.00
    Internet Price $ 29,340.00
    Sales tax 6% $ 1760.40
    State fees $ 8.89
    Dealer fees $ 344.50
    Tag transfer $ 85.00

Total price $ 31,538.79 "out the door".

Did $26,995 include the $550 destination charge? If so, that's about $2,200 below invoice. Congratulations!
  • driveindrivein Member Posts: 15
I'm looking to get some feedback on what you think would be reasonable price to pay for a 2006 EX-L 4WD with RES. Consumer Reports has dealer invoice listed as $32,257 and then the holdback as $1057, bring it down to $31,200. I've seen a number of postings regarding prices paid below invoice. I'd welcome your thoughts given the above information.
  • copygirl1copygirl1 Member Posts: 5
Where are you planning on purchasing the car? (state, dealership). Sticker is 35,195 and the cost is 30,689 at one dealership in MA. INCLUDES destination charges. Then, take off 1,000-1,500 for incentive (not sure what they are still). I'm sure you could get it for $29,500 or so. I would not pay over 30,500 for it, esp. w/what I've seen. I'd also buy last day of Apr. or May 1 when they're under a bit/eager for 1st day sales.
  • driveindrivein Member Posts: 15
I'm in no rush. I am in the midwest [IN] and have multiple dealers available. I can also access the Chicago/Cincinnati/Louisville markets too without much hassle [I can turn the travel into a business trip]. Consumer Reports has sticker as $35,245.
  • rameshtramesht Member Posts: 2
Yes. $26,995 includes the destination charge.
  • chuck100chuck100 Member Posts: 1
Green with leather - nothing special installed since we couldn't get the ipod link installed on the XM-radio. $28,400 included $550 destination charge (5% tax and title separate + $185 document fee). Gulfport, MS dealer. Not nearly as good as the $26-27K prices people are quoting here but it beat the (internet) prices from 4 dealers in the area (all were over $29K and no one came down much when we emailed back and forth. Went and haggled the old fashioned way.
  • pistonhondapistonhonda Member Posts: 13
I would've gone carsdirect but bay area dealers beat them by hundreds,a "whole lot" to be descriptive.

If the 2wd ex fabric isnt the model you're asking quotes for then that might be the reason. the leathers are in demand, or the dealeship hasn't met their quotas to avail of the $1000dealer incentive, or could be lots of reasons. my situation is: located in bay area, 2wd ex fabric in either silver, sagebrush, or desert rock, no add ons desired.
But here's what I did if you're still not getting the $25K flat for the 2wd ex fabric.
I went to honda website and did the "Locate a dealer" on the tabs on the far right near the bottom. Put in my zipcode. And honda website gave me the list of dealers w/in 50 miles of me even though i was willing to go out as far as 75mi for a good deal.
Then here's the hard part. On each of the dealers located near you there is a "Request a Quote" symbol you click to request a quote for that dealership. Choose the Pilot 2wd ex and choose the color. Then put in all your contact info, and additional info.and submit.
Well by doing this,i spent my whole friday morning, using cut copy paste to put in all my contact info and my somewhat short "requests" in the additional info box. I did the "Request a Quote" on all 30+ dealerships around me. And they all rang my answering machine even when i had requested on the additional info box to not call me.Of course half didnt give me quotes but rather invited me to the dealership or call them w/c i did not. And to add,i didnt dupe the best offering by having another dealer beat the price. In fact Stockton Honda Internet manager offered 24995 a little to late, Dublin Honda had replied promptly and precisely as i had asked with an offer i couldnt pass up so i called them up made an appointment. No dealer bidding wars on price for me, the best price or in my case, what i expected to be best offer, thats who i contacted. No haggling on my part, anyways it'll be bad karma for you get the best quote from far away and ask local dealer to match or beat it, just for your convenience. DO THIS AND IT'LL CATCH UP TO YOU. But anyways, stockton emailed their offer after i had already made an appt with Dublin Honda. Sure it was less by 5 bucks and the distance was lesser as compared to Dublin but Dublin gave me a good offer, exactly contacted me as i had requested with no annoying calls or empty quotes with invites, so i stuck with the appt with them the following morning.

Here's my letter that i put in the "additional info box" if you want to reword it, I thought it was clear not to call and specifics of what i wanted so they could give the exact quote(but still u have some dealerships tryin to reel you in to have you call them or go to dealership so that they'll just waste your time with outrageous prices or bait-switch units you never intended on considering):

"Purchase within 5 days, tomorrow if preferred color and price offered today is right. I am only interested in 2006 2WD EX Fabric in silver exterior but will consider 2 other colors, desert rock and sage brush. Will not be able to answer phone calls so please use email preferably with contact info, including your offer, the exterior color of vehicle being offered and an OTD price for vehicle without additional options. Emails without price quotes will be disregarded. Thank you for your time and any assistance you may provide."

My location for tax rate purposes and dmv fees was put in the other boxes so nobody say i gave incomplete info.Any other info dealerships needed, they'll get after giving me a quote that I'll use for purchase with them. the additional request i made was specific as to what i wanted. I was specific as to what to include and how i should be contacted. But there were still many annoying calls and emails. I know when the emails are auto-generated and when someone writes them up, there were still alot of manually made emails...i hated these.

Honorable mentions for quotes on 2wd ex fabric: Stockton honda internet sales manager 24995, Lodi honda internet sales manager 25300, San leandro honda intermanager 25335 , Avery Greene Motors internet manager(Honda in vallejo) 25535, winter honda internet sales manager(pittsburg was closest to me 5 miles but i didnt cheat dublin for the quote they gave me by having winter beat or match it)25700something.

And of course the offer i took up because they were so quick to respond Dublin Honda internet sales manager 25000. No haggling,no fuss guys. Will buy from them again when i need a honda, as long as they still give a competitive quote like the one for our pilot.

Go thru honda website so that the internet managers give you their quotes and when you take up their offer they usually state in the emailed quotes you bring to them, that you go to internet sales office or specifically to them and bypass the many haggling sales people elsewhere.

Incentives thru may 1 for my location bay area are: manufacturer to dealer $1000 if the dealership meets the criteria(i thinks its the # of units they have to sell in the month of april, like what they had for march incentive) and then there's the American Honda Financial Corp financing promo of 3.9% for 3yrs,5.9% for 5-6yrs and whatever for the 4yr and whatelse that i forgot. The 2 cant be used together here in the bayarea but what happened to me was my quote surely did reflect of the $1000 incentive and then AHFC(honda financial) beat my eloan by willing to give me 6.5%.
also, the financing promo only applies to those who qualify(credit score, employment, residence history and whatever else they use to see if you qualify) I asked this specifically, because with good credit scores in the 3 major bureaus, eloan only gave us a rate just a tad higher than AHFC with a decent maximum loan amount while honda financial offered better rate and willing to loan much higher amount.

    Sori for long post guys.
    Good luck bennfine.

Sales price was ~$29,900 (including destination) which included side steps installed, additional tinting on front windows, cargo mat, mud guards and wheel locks. Out the door price included a $399 dealer fee (couldn't get it down), plus TTL (7% sales tax) for a total OTD price of $32,484.

I was told by the salesman (and read online) that the $1,000 dealer incentive could not be used in conjuction with the Honda Finance special offer. We did do the Honda Finance offer of 4.9% for 48 months.

Overall I think we got a good deal - especially if they don't get the $1,000 dealer incentive.

Hi, I am trying to decide between a 2WD EX-L and 4wd EX-L. The difference in price is only about $1000 and the difference in gas mileage is 17/22 compared to 18/24.
I live in Virginia, where it doesn't snow much, so can't really convince myself to go for 4WD. My only concern is that 4-5 years down the road, would 2WD have the same resale value as 4WD?
    Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
