Wow, your price seems to be excellent! I emailed and requested they give me OTD of 29,500 (price you paid) and this is the reply I received:
Thank you for your message. The most recent price offer I sent to you for the Pilot 4WD EX-L is the best discount I can offer. With the 7% tax the total comes to $30,226.82. I am confident that the sale price you mentioned is either missing the destination charge, does not include 4WD, is not a Leather car, or is a demo. I am aware that the discount offered by us is an extremely competitive sale price that includes the Keenan Advantage.

Is your car a demo? I doubt it..what am I saying or doing wrong? Nobody seems to be budging, maybe it has to do with online correspondence, they may not think I am serious enough? I emailed Sussman autos to give me that price you got, the guy ignored me...yikes! Thank you.

Would you please post the name of the Houston dealer.
  • limited_sliplimited_slip Member Posts: 5
This car was bought brand new with 13 miles on it. Not a demo, includes destination charge, it is an 06 EX-L 4WD. Price was great. They had it in stock & I was ready to purchase. I did get the same quote you mentioned from most local dealers but I guess it depends on the dealer whether they need to move the pilots out of inventory quicker than others. Just keep on trying & waiting.

hello! I just emailed Sussman and the dealer agreed to sell to me for OTD of 29265! I am going to ask Mainline where you got your Pilot to see whether they would go even lower. I really don't need all that advantage program stuff, all I am concerned with is first free oil change and free inspection. Keenan autos was going to match Sussman price for 30008.60 but refused to dip any lower. I guess they don't need to move out their inventory that quickly. 29265 sounds good definitely. I just hope it's not a floor model with so many miles on it! Thanks for all your help. This is my first time bargaining, believe it or not.

Goodson Honda West, McDavid Honda's price was slightly better @ 29995 (50 bucks cheaper) but they couldn't locate the color that I wanted.

Congratulations! You did better than me.
  • sharpei25sharpei25 Member Posts: 14
I have yet to see this vehicle and see if there are many miles on it or whether he is trying to sell me a floor model, orwhether it is the vehicle i want. THe deal was over the internet, so I have to go in and see it for myself and speak to him. He's from Sussman Willow Grove area. Wish me luck! Two dealerships have said the OTD of 29265 is way out of their range. I think they just can't suck in a lower profit or they don't need to sell their SUV's in any hurry. So I am wondering whether the offer is way too good to be true, but I hope not. I have to talk with Ardmore Mainline to see whether they will dip even further than them! I'll inform you when I actually close the deal! Thanks so much!

Did your price include the destination charge? Also, did mud flaps or stripping come with the deal?

    Thanks

I just purchased a 2WD EXL w/ DVD RES for $27,490 + $399 Doc Fee & TTL. I had been looking for over a month and pitted the dealerships against each other. The only add-on I paid for was the mudguards. The vehicle has the luggage cross-bars on it, but when I requested them to be taken off, they deducted them from the price and left them on! We have had the vehicle since Saturday and love it the more we drive it.

    dna2511,

Where in NC did you buy your Pilot? I want an '06 EX-L 2WD and I live in Charlotte. I test drove one last week but I am not in a hurry to get one. That price seems excellent for one with Navigation. Thanks.

I want to get a 06 pilot and I would like to know how some of the posters on this board got such great prices. Did you negotiate by e-mail or by phone or did you do all of your shopping in person? I know what I want, but I don't want to go through the traditional hours-long dance to get where I want to go. Any advice?

Could someone please tell me if the $2000 current marketing incentive on the Pilot is available when leasing the car? Thank you.
  • aleck828aleck828 Member Posts: 22
What I did was use edmunds' quote service to send requests to local dealers. I believe they will give you a good price since they know you had visited edmunds and know how it works. Negotiate everything by email, insist on getting the "drive out" price or "out the door" price, ask for a break down on all the fees, and negotiate that total price only. Print and bring the emails to the dealership when the price is settled. Test drive the vehicle you want, sign the contract, take delivery. If you have to come back next time to take the vehicle, leave a security deposit of no more than $200 in check or credit card, don't leave cash. Have financing ready before going in, and see if the dealer can provide a better rate. Good luck and have fun.

Since former posts were helpful in my figuring out where to start for my purchase, thought I'd post my recent experience.

Just bought a 4WD EX-L (no navigation or DVD) for $27,548 including the $550 destination and $198 document fee.

I sent 5 requests for quote through the Honda website to local dealers. Most came back $27,600 to $27,900 including destination but before any document fees some dealerships charge. Called the two lowest and told them if they got rid of the document fee or lowered the price by the same amount, I would buy from them. One did, the other said they couldn't do it.

Other info: The $2000 dealer incentive is through May 31st. Applies to either purchased or leased cars
  • watomawatoma Member Posts: 2
yes - available when leasing too
  • cowboy7cowboy7 Member Posts: 16
By sending out request for quotes through the Edmund's web site, were you able to cover all the dealers in your area, or is it up to the web site to select a previliged few for you? Thanks
  • aleck828aleck828 Member Posts: 22
edmunds will select the dealers in its network based on the zip code you enter. So it's up to edmunds.

I dont' think so. It may be less but no way jump back 2k. Only exception is until new model year.

No one really knows until Honda releases their new plans after the period expires. I can tell you that no matter what people say, Pilot sales are doing fine, so it is a good possibility that it will be reduced if not taken away altogether. My advice is come on down and buy one now!
  • hfzeushfzeus Member Posts: 39
Last month the dealer incentive was $1000. If sales were "doing fine," Honda would not have doubled them for May.

One dealer I went to had 41 available on his lot and I failed to notice any large crowds gathered to snap them up.

It is possible that the $2000 will disappear, but very unlikely.

Yeah.. .. my personal opinion is that sales of the Pilot are doing well, because of the big incentives...

Lease incentives and cheap financing tend to come and go... But, once they put the incentives in cash dollars, they tend to stay around...

I purchased the vehicle with an OTD of 29,334.50 from Sussman Autos in Willow Grove, PA. Process was quick and we took the SUV on a test drive. Dealer seemed fair and straightforward, no gimmicks, no haggling, no tricks. Financing rate is not so good at this time, since there are no incentives. I had excellent credit and the rate is still 7.9%!! More than a house mortgage...our local credit union has a rate of 6.2 for auto loan%. My suggestion for anyone wanting to buy in Philadelphia area to finance independently or to let them run your credit with all the banks and see which rate is lowest for you. (I did not do that, I paid cash). Thank you for all your help!

EX c Navi, running boards, moonroof visor, and rear splashguards, Sage Brush
Total before tax/lic/fee was $30,200, total OTD $33,010. I bought from Hardin Honda in Anaheim, California in April before the incentive was doubled. Still a great deal though with accessories installed. I could have gotten it for $200 less at Corona Honda if I did not specifically want the Sage Brush color which was harder to find at the time.

Hardin Honda essentially met as internet quote from another dealer, minimal hassle. Clean buying experience. Accessory install was mildly delayed though and no follow-up from salesperson as promised. But overall good experience.

First, thanks to everyone on the forum. I went in well prepared for this purchase due to all the helpful info.

I purchased an Amazon Green Pilot EXL w/Nav for $29710 (including destination)from Rosen Honda in Gurnee, IL. This price was before adding in accessories.

I did all the pricing via email and dealer internet departments. I went with who was the easiest to deal with and had around the best price. Had an overal good experience except for the standard sales pitches for paint protection, extended warranties, etc.

I had a bunch of accessories installed by the dealer both OEM and aftermarket (Rear DVD, remote start)and the pricing was also very reasonable compared what other dealers were asking. Picked it up on May 6th but just got around to posting.

Bought one at $25,500 (sticker: MSRP+destination) in San Antonio/Austin area early this week.

I bought 4-5 new cars before. This time the experience is unique. In early May, there was a hail storm in central Texas. Many cars (esp. in San Antonio) had some damages and their prices were (sometimes drastically) reduced. The prices for the cars shipped after the storm went up due to demand and supply. Internet quotes are high, ranging from 26,500-27,600 from 6 dealers (sticker).

Quotes from Houston (~150 miles away) largely match what were posted in this web site. A few of them quoted around $25,200 (sticker) through emails, presumably one can knock off another $100-200 if one works on it a bit. If the difference is any higher, I would fly over, take a cab to the dealer, and drive it back home.

BTW, I compiled many sale prices from April and May, and frankly did not really see the $1,000 drop as was implied in the higher manufacturer-to-deal incentives in May. There may be other factors (volume incentives, hail factor, etc) that I don't know or understand.

I would trust the real market price in the following order:
    1. prices from this site (most trustworthy),
    2. dealer quotes through emails, if you are near a large city and can get 7-10 quotes
    3. Edmund's TMV (frankly, it's not very accurate)
    4. Invoice + a few hundred dollars for dealer's profit (my god, anyone still using this rule?)

    Cheers

Can you clarify for me what specifically the $2K dealer incentive is and where you find information about it? I am aware of approximately $1000 "holdback" but what else is out there?

See Marketing Support near the bottom of the page.

You will need to enter your own zip code to see if it applies to your area.

Earlier this week bought a Amazon Green w/Olive leather interior EXL 4WD with Navigation system from Honda of Lake Norman. New dealership with great internet pricing and service. Referred by a friend who recently purchased there the same Pilot model there. No hassle, friendly, what more can you say. Bought for $2,800 below Edmunds Invoice price. $28,900 before destination and $200 of dealer add ons. This is an unbelievable deal when you consider the looks and the fact that it stickered (MSRP) for $36,000!
  • jenkinsismejenkinsisme Member Posts: 30
The $2000 dealer incentive is money given to the dealer from the manufacturer to help with advertising and support of sales of certain makes and models at a specific time. This is not the same as a rebate and is not directly given to the customer. The dealership chooses whether or not to use any, some, part or all of that money as a discount to the price of the vehicle.

Has anyone had a positive experience with a Honda dealer in the Charlotte area? I am looking for a new Honda Pilot and I am looking for the best place to get it. Any help would be appreciated!
  • navy92navy92 Member Posts: 2
Check out my post #6109 above. I bought at Lake Norman Honda with that great price. Go their website and click to register for their Internet price. The Internet salesperson (Ken or Angie) will call and give you some incredible pricing options. The place is nice, new and they have tons of inventory.

I just got a email quote from Brannon Honda in B'ham, AL on a EX-L 2 WD with NAV For $29,462. Total including Tax, Title & Fees was $30,873. Is this a very good quote or just so-so? All comments appreciated.

I just purchased a 2006 Pilot EX-L 2WD with RES (DVD Entertainment system). No navigation. Bought it out here in San Diego CA. I was able to get the sales person to include the "chrome" running board installed along with the upgraded alarm and also 5 year leather treatment (stains on leather). Also included were the wheel locks, all weather interior mats, cargo tray, wheel & door guards, and mud guards in the front and back. I purchsed the Pilot for $31750 plus tax & licenses with a 3.9% apr for 60 months. Is this a good deal that I got????

Just purchased an 06 EX AWD , called 3 dealers in the boston area; everyone is pretty much desperate to sell Pilots as they are just sitting in the lots; due to gas prices while civics are selling like hot cakes. A few other places quoted invoice price ($27k) and I asked about the $2k dealer rebate, then they knocked off another 2k. Ending up paying $25,300 (destination included). Ended up at boch (visited them last). Not really a pleasant buying experience... After the price was negoiated, they brought me into the meet the "finance guy", seemed like a nice guy at first. Went onto explain the extended warranties and financing /rates. I declined the warranties and said no the rate he gave me (8%) ,I know i have good credit and can do better than that at the local banks (5.25 - 5.5) . He insisted that i had to have this purchase paid in full to go through and had to get the warranty and that rate.... I said no. Then his attitude turned sour and said the deal might not go through. I said "Oh well" , he left for a few minutes, came back and gave me 5.6% w/ no extended warranty. He wasn't happy about finishing the deal....I guess they have to make money on 1 out of 2 areas (final sale price and financing/warranty), but didn't get either one.

Anyone else besides bostonbuyer getting around $25,500 for an base 4wd EX? My lowest quote is $26,500 incl Destination charge. Seeing how low people are getting the EX-L's w/ navi $25,500 for a 4wd EX w/ fabric seems to be a fair equivalent. I am tentative to ask for a price that low. Don't want it to backfire and lose interest from the salesperson.

    Hello,

I am in the SF-Bay Area. I have not made up my mind yet between the AWD EX, AWD EX-L, and the AWD EX-L with navigation. I want a silver unit, but will settle for a beige (a second choice), or a white unit (maybe). So far, here are the qutes I got:

EX AWD $25,500 plus tax, license, documentation ($45), and 8.75 tire fee (TTL).

EX - L (Leather Only) AWD $27,500 plus TTL.

EX- L AWD with Nav. $29,500 plus TTL.

All prices include destination, and I have only chosen to deal directly with an Internet or a Fleet Manager. The only options included may be door trim, but no other features, such as wheel locks, cargo mat tray, etc. The AWD units are rarer than the 2WD units in my locale, so getting the silver color may be difficult. I may wait another week, to see if Honda adds any special financing for Memorial Day Weekend.

A good deal, but not a great deal and the lether treatment sounds like a scam. Which dealer?

Awesome prices. $6,000 below MSRP, $1,000 below carsdirect.

Hello all, looking at buying my first non-American car this week. I have a quote on a 2006 Pilot EX 4WD of just under $25K. From what I've been reading, the price is pretty good. I'm just worried about the financing.

Anyone know what Honda is offering? Do they even do their own financing? I have a family member who sells bank loans, and the best she can get me on an auto loan is 9%, a buddy of mine just bought a Maxima, and the Nissan financing is 8%.

I'm afraid with that type of interest, I might be better off going US again with 0 interest. Anyone with any ideas, I would appreciate the feedback, because as you could guess, the price is only good until the weekend - with the dealer assist I guess.

    Thanks -

Guys, I am in Fort Worth, TX and trying to locate a light blue Pilot EX-L AWD w/ Navigation from a dealer ANYWHERE. I am willing to truck this in, but it must be the right color/option set. If anyone can help, it is appreciated.

Just bought an EX AWD in Waterloo, Ia and was told Honda is coming out with 3.99 financing on Thursday of this week.
  • karlzunikarlzuni Member Posts: 20
In addition too, or instead of $2,000 dealer cash?
  • par1par1 Member Posts: 2
In my case, in addition to the 2k. Will pick the vehicle up on Thursday, to qualify for the 3.99. (starts that day)
  • tinatinatinatina Member Posts: 388
    Hello,

I caught the tale end of a radio ad on the special financing over Memorial Day, but I did not catch the rate/terms. Is it 3.99% for up to 60 months, or is it 3.9; 4.9; and 5.9 for 36, 48, and 60 months?
  • ajoeajoe Member Posts: 15
I have dealer quote here too - 3.99% on 48 and 4.99% on 60. The deal is between May 25th and May 31st. But do not have a confirmation if the deal is good on a Pilot as well. Will let the board know, once I know.
  • martinlmartinl Member Posts: 2
Most of the prices discussed seem to be for EX models. I am looking for a LX 4WD in NYC/northen NJ. My best quote so far is $23,250 (incl. all fees, excl. tax and DMV). From the posts on this page, I reckon that this is a pretty good deal. Any comments?

    Thanks for any replies!
