    Thanks,

I just got back and got two responses from two separate dealerships. Here in the SF Bay Area its as follows:

    3.99% - 36 months

    4.99 - 48 months

    5.99 - 60 months.

Sounds like its better in your area.

Anybody have pricing experience in Central NY (Syracuse-Rochester) on the 2006 Pilot EX AWD or 2006 Pilot EXL AWD? Looking at purchasing this week depending on pricing.
  • stephen18stephen18 Member Posts: 1
It looks good. Today I got LX 2WD at $22,200 plus security system(about $480) plus Lowjack($825) in southern Calif. The deal was made through emails and the price was exactly what I asked except the optional security system and Lowjack I added in the dealership.
I got an impression maybe I could make it below 22000...well I don't know..The total was about $25700 including CA tax, Reg and Doc. fee and I don't think it's a bad deal.
The last thing I want to mention is that even if you get the price, they try to play with the APR. in the case of auto loan. At the beginning, they said that 7.xx% is the best you can get, but the final suggestion was %6.1xx....but I didn't take it because I was offered about %5.4xx from another institution other than Honda.

The question is do you think you got a good deal? What difference does it matter what other people think? You have already purchased it so why does it matter? If you buy a Honda and don't pay more than MSRP then you should consider yourself to have gotten a good deal. Were you treated nicely at the dealership? Did they belittle you in any way? If it was a good experience and you received a discount then yes you got a good deal.

Looks like you have better offering in your area. I have the same rates from another dealer in the Central Ohio area. By the way what is details on these Honda Finance rates i.e. application fees, any early pay off penalties or restrictions on early pay off? Any feedback from the board will be helpful!

    Thanks
  • jenkinsismejenkinsisme Member Posts: 30
Here in Jackson, MS our early termination fee through Honda is $50. That's all that I'm aware of. I'm not sure if this applies everywhere, because Honda offers different rates and programs for different areas of the country at different times. It may vary in your location.

I bought my EX Pilot from a lot in Tifton, GA (Prince Honda) who had an EX-L (light blue) on the lot at the time. I am not sure if it had navigation but you could certainly ask them.
Also, have you contacted the dealers in your area? I may be dumb to ask but when I decided on the EX the salesman told me that they have a huge inventory of Pilots right now and it would not be hard to find exactly what I wanted. They located mine in Tallahassee, FL.

I live in the Boston area and here's the breakdown of the best quote I've received within a 40 mile radius. Now, I have added a number of options here, however that still doesn't account for the fact the base EX-L w/Nav dealer invoice (according to Consumer Reports) is $31,200 and dealer holdback is now around 2k, so that puts the Pilot at $29,200 plus for the dealer.

Here is the full brake down on a 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L w/Nav. Pilot $29,795, Doc fee $203 Reg, plates, title $86 Chrome Pack Frt & RR $699 Chrome steps $849 Air Deflector $269 Day/Night mirror $449 All Season Pack $299 (cargo tray, splash guards, all weather mats) Total = $2565 -10% = $2,315 Pilot $29,795 Accessions $2,315 Tax $1,713 Total = $34,112 ?Out The Door?

So, when I read some people in Boston and elsewhere claim to be receiving quotes for $26,500 to 28,500 for a Pilot EXL w/Nav, frankly I think they're full of it. If someone can enlighten me how these quotes are possible, unless the dealers are now giving these cars away, then I simply can't believe these numbers are plausible. :confuse:

RTP,NC area. Got a quote of $28,100.00 for out-of-door price. Is it a good deal?
  • jutta24219jutta24219 Member Posts: 3
It sounds like one to me. The best OTD price I've gotten in my southwestern VA location is $28,300. I hope to pick up mine this weekend. Go for it!
  • cklowdencklowden Member Posts: 1
I got a price quote over the internet for $26,800 (includes dest. charge) and after taxes and fees, I'm walking out for $28,570. I feel like I got a great deal! This is for a 2006, Amazon Green EX-L...fully loaded with everything except navi or dvd. (which I think are a waste of $$) According to Edmunds, that base price is $1800 under invoice...and about $5k under MSRP. Not sure why other parts of the country are selling for OVER MSRP!! Through May 31, Honda is giving the dealers $2000 for every Pilot they sell...so that is why I got a break on the base price, probably. Plus--it is so much easier to go through the internet to get one! I LOVE IT! Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow!

Looking for an EX-L 4wd w/DVD in Washington state. Getting low quote of $30,600.00 so far but still checking. Any northwesterners out there who can tell me what they paid and/or the dealerships they worked with? Based on some of the other quotes from other folks in other states, this seems pretty high. Any input would be appreciated..Thanks. :)

Looks like a good deal. Is it 2WD or 4WD?
  • pnwbuypnwbuy Member Posts: 3
It is 4WD. Seems like I'm seeing offers on this site for considerably less then that. Any comments? This should be a big weekend for buying - and hopefully sellers will be motivated or else I may have to wait it out. Also - is it wise to bring up the dealer incentives when talking to the dealer and working out a deal or is this not appropriate? I mean I know there's one, he/she obviously knows, so why would you tip-toe around it?
  • jenkinsismejenkinsisme Member Posts: 30
It will be much easier for the salesperson if you mention the incentive up front. He/She will be able to make the deal much easier if everything is spoken openly from the beginning.

Planning to buy a 2006 Pilot EX - 2 WD (No Navi / Entertainment/ Leather) soon. Would appreciate if some recent buyer in Houston area share his/her expereince.

Also, is it certain that $2000 dealer incentive will go away soon (after May 31st) ? Any chance of they extending it or coming up with better incentives/rebates.

    thanks again guys..

A quote I got from Goodson Honda West on April 7 for the exact car you mentioned was $25,935 including destination, out the door was $27,805. I ended up getting a 2WD EX-L there for $30066 (OTD), which included cargo trey, mud guards, and wheel locks. I probably would have gotten a better deal if I bought it this month since the rebate got doubled.

Since this forum has helped me to find out what to expect to pay for my new Pilot, I wanted to let those researching their purchase know what I paid on 05/20/2006 for my 2006 Pilot LX 2WD in silver. I got it for $22034 including destination charge. Out the door it was $24,007 including tax, registration, & $45 dealer doc fee. Hardin Honda in Anaheim, CA sold me the car. I emailed dealers telling them I was ready to purchase today, outlining the exact car I wanted including color, and told them I was aware of the $2000 Dealer incentive Honda was offering. The MSRP of my car was $27,545. I applied for financing with Capital One through the Costco program & received 5.7% interest for 60 months. I researched my trade ins Kelley Blue Book value including the dealer trade in, private party & suggested retail value the dealership would try to get for my car. I had my old car cleaned & shined to get top value (as much as one can from a dealership). Then I went to the dealership with all my information printed. When they tried to offer a couple of thousand dollars less than KBB I told them what my car was worth, & what I had found similar cars were selling for in the Auto Trader magazine. I got exactly what I wanted. My trade in was a silver 2001 Civic EX standard transmission with 73,600 miles. I purchased used in 2002 with 15,000 miles for $11,995. The dealer offered $5,600. I got $7,825. Selling it my self I would have gotten about $9,000 but it would have been harder to sell not being an automatic. Also I went into the dealership with just my baby. I left my husband at home with the check for the car. When the salesman asked if I would purchase that day if he could meet my prices I told him yes, but I would have to call my husband to bring the check and I would only call if those prices were guarantted. The salesman knew if he gave me even $200 or $300 less for my trade in, no deal. Without my husband there I wasn't paying for it. Overall I was happy with my purchase. My point is do your research, print your information including your vehicles trade in info. if needed, clean your trade in to make it seem in good shape, let the dealer know you're serious & informed, have only one spouse go if this applies to you, and wait until you're ready to purchase before you do your hard negotiating. Sorry this posting is long. I just wanted to give help to someone who may need it. Good luck!

I used the info on this forum to nail down a good price on a Pilot and put a deposit on the car yesterday. I will pick it up on Saturday. My final, out the door price was $29,400 for an EX-L 4WD with a cargo net and mud guards and coupons for $800 worth of free services (oil changes, etc.)at the dealer. I told the dealer that I was much happier dealing with them over the phone and the internet than when I had visited dealers a month ago intending to buy a Toyota Highlander. I told him that I had gotten car buying advice from this site and he said that if he could find the person who started such a site, he'd like to shoot him/her.
I loved my buying experience compared with going to the dealers, trying to come up with a deal for a Highlander. At that time, it tooks hours of sitting and chatting and back and forth with the salesman and the sales manager to get a price. I hated that traditional car buying dance and will never do it again. I used the internet and the phone to do everything but put sown the deposit and I loved it! Huge amounts of time and aggravation saved! Thanks to the person that responded to my query about how to get a good deal - it was a big help! I know I didn't get the best deal; I have seen better listed on this web site, but for being out in the sticks, away from major metropolitan dealers, I think I did pretty well. :)

Could anybody in RTP,NC bought a Pilot 06 these days share what deal you got? I'm especially interested to see OTD prices for 4WD EX-L model(NO DVD & NAV).

I had an excellent buying experience at Space Coast Honda in Cocoa, FL on Friday.

Did the internet request from Edmunds. The salesman at Space Coast responded promptly and quickly gave me a good price. He took my trade information over the phone, and when I arrived to pick up the Pilot, all of the numbers stayed the same.

The price of the Pilot EX 2WD with crossbars and wheel locks was 25,357. Since a trade was involved I won't post an out the door price.

Did the Honda promotional financing. Those planning to use the 4.9 percent financing for 60 months apparently must download a coupon from the Honda website and take it to the dealership, at least in Florida. Without the coupon, the 60 month rate is 5.9 percent.

After briefly discussing this with the finance manager, everything proceeded smoothly. No pressure, no hassles.

    I highly recommend this dealership.

On the other hand, an experience last week at Coggin Honda on the Orange Blossom trail in Orlando was a disaster. After receiving three separate phone calls from Coggin indicating that we were very close to a price, I took my trade there and was confronted with a rude, condescending and sarcastic sales manager who told me we were $4,000 apart and essentially issued a take it or leave it offer.

    Totally bush league.

I was happy to drive an extra 1/2 hour to Cocoa to save over $2,000 and do business with a class dealership like Space Coast.

I am also from NC and I am looking for a great deal too. I love Hondas but I am afraid I can not get a good deal. Please keep me posted and I will do the same. Do you think we could get a better deal later in the summer? I would like a 2WD LX or EX.

    Thanks

Looking for the same thing, except in OR. Who quoted you $30,600? Best I've got is $31,200 at Beaverton Honda.

I have been tracking this forum for some time now. It is of great resource for buyers. After some research, I chose to go for Honda Pilot against Toyota Highlander. I own Honda Civic and was inclined towards Honda Pilot for its exterior design and some additional features.

Not sure if I missed some Edmunds website feature, but, when I requested quote from Edmunds, it sends out to one of their selected dealers. So, I had to request separately for each local dealer.

Initially, I requested quote for LX 2WD and was not in stock locally. So, some of them sent quote LX 4WD. I requested additional quotes for EX models.

Finally, ended up buying EX 4WD (Sage brush pearl) on 05/28 from Leith Honda in Raleigh.

    $25745 (including destination) + 3% NC tax + $398 Doc fee + $74 Registration

Leith Honda’s Internet Sales Manager gave good quotes very first time and happened to be best rate locally.

Crown Honda sent quote for $25135 for EX 2WD (Sage brush pearl). Two hours before, they confirmed that vehicle was in stock. When I went there, Sales Rep took us to show vehicle. He mentioned that he had wrong key and left us there waiting for 15-20 minutes. Came back and mentioned that vehicle was not in stock and gave us quote for EX 4WD. We thanked for his time and left.

I have a quote on a EX-L (no NAV or RES) at Tameron in B'ham Al of $28,588 out the door. Has anyone done better in the South East?

I'm not in a big hurry to buy & was wondering if I could save a fair amount to make it worthwhile waiting until the 2007 Pilots arrive & then finding dealers with 2006 models left. Any ideas on that & do they usually arrive in Sept???

    Thanks

Has anyone purchased a Pilot from any Honda dealership in North Alabama. After recently receiving a quote from Jerry Damson Honda in Huntsville during a large multi-dealer car sales event it did not seem that they wanted to deal and none of the $2000 was included in any quote. Anyone buy a car from them or anywhere in North Alabama lately?

Ramped i went to Honda Website to look for any financing deals and there were none there was no 4.9% Financing coupons and they are offering between mid 5% to 6% @ the Honda Dealer any help would be great i got a 4WD LX for $24527 i live in CT and they were quite annoyed  when i mentioned the $2000 dealer incentive which they split and knocked $1000 off price 0ff car getting it to $24527 :D

    Dave,
I also got a quote from Damson. Both Tameron & Brannon in B'ham were much lower (Around $28,600 out the door)
  • rampedramped Member Posts: 358
Most likely the incentives are regional, so what is good in the Southeast may not be good in the Northeast.

No reason for the dealer to become upset about you mentioning the dealer incentive. That just proves that you are an informed customer who is asking for a good deal.

These days, I don't mention any specifics when I make an offer. I just take into account all of the incentives, calculate what I believe to be a good price, and then make an offer. If you are reasonable, and so is the dealer, then it doesn't take long to get a deal done.

Good luck. Pilots may not have the most exciting exteriors, but they are exceptionally well designed, and the interior materials and details are first-rate.

I just Got A 2006 2WD EX-L with RES in St. Louis. OTD price was 28800 including processing fees and mudguards. I got price from Consumer Reports and quotes from different Dealers. Best quote was from Hueys honda but they did not have a 2WD on stock. I contacted Stephen Vincel Honda and they went below the the quote from Hueys because because They generally put just rear splash guards on the car for $73, and my doc fee was $79. Service was excellent no complaints. I would recomment this dealer.

I purchased Amazon Green Pilot 4WD EXL-Navi from Honda of New Rochelle in Westchester (north of NYC) for $30,395 including destination plus tax, title etc. Also got 60 mo. loan from Honda @6.09% which beat E-loans rate of 6.15%.
  • davej4davej4 Member Posts: 6
Thanks Alafan1, I think the reason Damson will not deal is that they are the only game in town. I will try Birmingham. Did you get a quote from the Honda dealer in Decatur? Thanks

It was about the same as Damson...I thought from their sites, they may be owned by the same folks.

We just bought a new Silver 4WD EXL from Honda @ Cary AutoMall (outside of Raleigh). Here are the details:

    MSPR: $33,595
    Invoice: $30,405
Selling Price: $27,650 (almost $6K off MSRP!!)
    NC Sales Tax (3%): $830
    Doc Fees/Title: $455
    Out the Door: $28,935

Thanks to everyone on this forum. Your insight/help is *greatly* appreciated!!! By the way, the $2,000 dealer incentive was a huge help. The sale guy wanted to negotiate starting at the invoice price (up). We mentioned the incentive and shaved $50 off the lowest price we saw in this forum (which was lower than CarsDirect by $1,000), and they accepted. Of course, it was 6:30PM, May 29th (Memorial Day), so I am sure they were motivated to sell.

We are very happy...thank to all!!!

I just purchased a silver 4WD EX-L w/RES for $31,150 out the door (or "on the road" as they say) which I'd like to believe is a pretty good deal. After several e-mails to various dealerships, I took the best offer ($31,250) and e-mailed everyone back to see if they could beat it. Several could match it and several couldn't. But luckily, the dealership 10 minutes from my house came in at $100 less than everyone else and also included some nice little accessories as standard (ie. interior mats, cargo mats, wheel locks, etc.) All negotiations were handled via e-mail except for my trade-in value. And overall, it was a pretty pleasant experience. FYI - The salesperson I dealt with spoke very highly of Edmunds.com and thought their TMV values were more accurate than KBB.com. Good Luck!!!

    I just purchased a new 4Dr 2WD EX-L w/ Navigation for $30,000 before ttl.

This included the Protection Package and the cargo tray and wheel lock package, as well as the chrome side-steps and roof-rack.

I know this is a good deal, but I still think there's room to go a little lower (based on previous two posters). Honda has $2000 in dealer incentives that are going to expire at the end of May- take advantage of those!

Also, we were able to get a great APR of 3.99% (48-month lease) - this is lower than the interest rates of my savings account.

This purchase was made at a honda dealership in Plano, Texas.
  • bach2bach2 Member Posts: 2
I have bought my Honda Pilot LX for invoice price -- 24K less the dealer incentive of 2K or a total of 22K. I decided to lease this with a capitazed cost of $21K after putting a 1,000 down payment. My payment for 36 months is $320 (inluding tax). You just need to negotiate, negotiate and negotiate -- and of course in a friendly and courteous way.
  • gotclergotcler Member Posts: 3
Congratulations! So did you get some little accessories like interior mats, cargo mats, wheel locks with your car?

I got a quote from South Tacoma Honda for 30,988 and a quote from Seattle Honda to beat that by 100, so 30,888. I was working a deal to get the mud flaps (173) and door guards(101?) thrown in, so roughly 30,600 - again, for EXL 4wd with DVD. I went with Hinshaws Honda out of Auburn, WA, and made some concessions due to stock, so got the non-DVD version. All dealerships seemed nice to work with. Hope that helps you.

Just bought a silver pilot EX-L w/a navigation system. MSRP $34,595 plus dealer adds of $2000, total of $36,595.
I was able to get it for $29,675 + tt&l.
I did all of the negotiating over the internet and phone b/t 2 local dealers. It was a very good experience, and I believe it's a good deal.

I just bought a White EX-L with Navigation. MSRP $34,595.00 and I added Sidesteps ($575.00 without installation) and iPod link ($369 installed).

    I paid $27,805.00 + taxes, registration.

It is true what they say about waiting for the last day of the month! Thank you Edmunds and Thank you Carman

I was ready to purchase a 4wd blue EX-L no NAV or ENT, MSRP is $33,595. So on May 30th I got moving. I got an internet quote of $28,250 but the local dealer wouldn't go below $29,000. She said she would split the $2,000 incentive with me but wouldn't give it all to me. I really thought I should be able to do much better and was just getting annoyed. Today, end of month, May 31, I leased an Acura MDX base model, same color blue as the Honda.

Price 28,090 NO DOC FEES plus tax in Northern WV (2200 under invoice and 200 into holdback)

Internet price from Washington Honda (PA), but the local WV dealer also matched (although too late in the negotiation).
