I purchased a 1999 silverado z71 ext cab LT with every option known to man.Such as locking rear diff, rear window deffoger cell phone add,the rest if you are one who ordered your truck you know that the rest of the options are standerd on LT models. For only 28,500.
that is what i am looking for and told that it was around 33,000. where did you get yours for that price, what state are you in, or did you order online? pls advise
If you're talking a fully loaded 2000 LT 4X4 and were told 33,000(MSRP)...you're right. Check out my post #196 and you'll see what I paid with a total of 6 added options.
I read your response, I've read all of them, put #222 said he got is for only 28500. I'm looking at a 1999 or 2000 1500 lt loaded with z71 option. I live in NC, so if somebody knows where to get a good deal, would apprieate the info. Also after reading all these reply's yours does seem like the high price. That is why I was wondering. Thanks again for the information.
1999 - used for 5,000 miles, traded in for a SUV. Prior owner reports absolutely no problems, a truck didn't meet his needs. Has additional option of power seats. Already has nice bedliner, fog lights, locking differential, compass/mirror. VS. new 2000 with same 5.3 engine, few other options. 1999 truck neg. about $1500 less that the 2000. Used vs. new??
Regarding your post #196, what dealer did you order your pickup from "eps1" ? Or if anyone else in OC, LA (Southern California) area knows of a dealer with a good DEAL, please E-mail me.
I have a 2000 4.8 V-8 Silverado Reg. Cab S/B on order and it won't be in until the end of October. Is it worth the wait to get a 270HP truck or should I go buy a used one with less power and get it alot quicker and save a couple of $2000 probably.
For a couple of thousand dollars, buy new. Get exactly what you want, a full 3/36 warranty and the joy of a new truck.
You might ask yourself why the 1 year old truck is available used? Is it one of those that has had a lot of problems, or is it from a guy who trades every year?
I found the wait for my truck to be delivered was nearly intolerable. But, getting the beauty delivered and putting the first miles on it was worth it.
You probably won't notice the HP difference. It's only above 4000rpm and you rarely run there. I've never had my 99 4.8 above 4000. There is plenty of power down low and the torque curve is flat. No need to rev the thing that high.
Finding out if the used truck had any problems is easy - just call the prior owner. If he tells you he had no problems, just trades often then you've avoided some of the problems that have shown up early on with some new trucks (see multiple topics on wind noise, vibration, oil leaks, ect.) I'm too practical to spend an extra $2000 to be the first one to put miles on the truck. Get the used one if it's what you want-use some of what you save for a trip, accessories,or treat your wife to a nice dinner.
I am getting ready to purchase a 2000 extended cab 4x4(chevy) in this area. I have checked the invoice dealers web site and they dont have anyone in this area. has anyone out there got a good deal on a new truck here in the Dallas Ft. Worth area? Thanks for your help
Hello all: I'm new to trucks and am looking to buy a V6 short box silverado 5-speed transmission. Mostly for safety and height, and some occasional towing. Is there anything about GM V6's that I should know? Price is a factor here and I can get a really good deal right now. Any opinions would be welcome.
Is the V6 in the Silverado the same as the 4.3 in the S-10? If so it is a hard-working nearly bullet-proof engine that never gave me one ounce of trouble in my '91 S-10. It may be a bit underpowered in a Silverado, but with a 5-speed may be ok. Considering that it has more horsepower than the V8s in full-size trucks had a few years back, underpowered my be relative. Don't know how torque compares.
Is it ok if I point out once again that the Silverado V8 gets better epa mileage than the Toy Tundra V6?
I have ordered in Abilene at invoice with no add on's except of course, 6% sales tax and lic. and registration. I had a $100 below invoice offer but that dealer could not get an allotment at that time. The Weatherford dealreship did not respond to my visit there. Texas seems to be a good place to buy. I guess it is because it is "pick-up country." E-mail me for details.
The Edmunds 2000 Chevy and GMC Truck listing says that a fourth door will be an option. There is no price listed for this option. Will it be available in later production runs? Has anyone seen one yet? If so what is the invoice and MSRP price?
Dealer called today and said he could order 5 four door 2 wheel drive silverado's. Looks like the 4 doors are finally here. First 4 doors will arrive here in about 60 days. Dealer didn't know when the 4x4 will get four doors or when the GMC guys will get four. Just thought you would want to know.
Kelly Blue Book, WWW.KBB.com has the price for the fourth door, if memory serves, the retail is around $377?, and 270? invoice. Sounded pretty reasonable.
Getting quotes on a 2000 Chevy 4X4 LT Extended Cab and have had two dealer quotes which included a "Dealer Coop Advertising Fee" Seems to be in the range of 1 - 1 1/2%. I live in California and was curious if this is accurate. The figure shows up only on the invoice side not MSRP. Any comments??
Has anyone used the dealer's holdback as a negotiating tool? I understand that GM's holdback is 3% of the MSRP. If I was looking at a MSRP of $32,000, the holdback or pure profit for the dealer would be $960. I've read that people are getting $200 over invoice which is a good deal. If getting the vehicle under invoice has been done, please let me know.
Apparently the coop ad agreements are entered into by groups of local dealers but are run through GM. So it goes onto invoice and eats up part of the profit before it gets sold. It is a cost of doing business but unlike local dealer-only advertising, the dealer actually IS charged for every vehicle.
I have an order in on a 2000 LS ext. cab, which has been built but not shipped yet. Ordered 7/31. I paid $500 over invoice and 1% advertising fee. I'm using a GM card rebate for $500 off. Overall I'm okay with the deal since I'm gtting exactly what I want - not hundreds of dollars in options I don't want, or ones that are missing. Also besides the GM workers who ship it, it won't be pawed by customers walking around the lot, or God forbid someone testdriving it - seeing how well it accelerates, and playing with every switch and knob in it. Think about those things before buying off the lot, unless you get a super deal.
I recently paid $200 over invoice for a loaded '00 LS Ext. cab Z71 at Hirlinger Chevrolet. A co-worker recommended them and that was a no haggle price. I just walked in and that was the deal. No advertising fee. I'm guessing that any salesman will quote you this deal, but I went through Gary. He couldn't (?) give me any details between receiving the order number and the delivery date, but I'm all smiles now. They even beat the local finance rates after I threatened to get financing elsewhere.
Just about to order a 2000 Z71 and am deciding on options. Saw one on the way to work today that had wheel flares that matched the paint. Does anyone know if these have to be done at the factory or if dealer can install?
Those wheel flares u seen are a $180 option installed at the factory. Personally i think they look very good not to big not to small i am defintly buying them with mine. They come in black with solid paint and if you get a 2 tone they come in the color of the lower color. I think its worth the $180 msrp. Well i hope this helps
Anybody know of a Chevy dealer in PA that will sell 4WD extended cab LS Silverado near invoice? The lowest I have found is 765 over at Kenny Ross Chevrolet.
Also, in response to the wheel flares, if you get the pewter color, what color will the wheel flares be? Is there an image online of a truck like this? Dave
All wheel flares come black unless you get the two-tone option then they come as the color of the bottom of the truck. I have heard that you can get the fender flares painted either at the factory or at the dealer the color of the truck. SOmeone told me they got the pewter truck with pewter flares. No pics out there really you gotta check out the dealers
Thanks for the help. Actually talked to dealer today. If they are not put on at the factory, you can get either the black plastic or color to match the paint. These are actually produced by GM (not aftermarket) and attached using clips and some type of adhesion. This is supposedly an improvement over prior year when they attached using only adhesion and had a tendency to warp. Dealer suggest black over matching color as he questioned quality/durability of colored ones. I'm getting the charcoal gray paint so I think the black will look good anyway. My truck doesn't come in until the end of October so I'll probably go by and look at these before I have them put on.
If anyone is interested I will let you know what I think after I see them.
I HAVE A OO' 2500 LT, 4X4 EXT. CAB IN THE PEWTER. CAME WITH THE COLERED MATCHING FLARES. LOOKS REAL GOOD. CAN'T COMMENT ON THE DURABILITY, ONLY 200 MILES SO FAR. MY 93' NISSAN HAS PAINTED PLASTIC ON THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS, THEY HAVE HELD UP WELL SO FAR.
We bought a Charcoal Metallic 4x4 in April. In May we added Black flares to the truck. They look great in black! The black complements the rest of the black on the truck (door handles, t/g handle, bumper trim,etc.).
The flares do make the wheel openings look larger and the tires look smaller.
If you have an LS or LT, you will notice the chrome on the grill looks even more out of place.
mledtje: That's interesting that you said that, because on my 2500, I noticed that the tiress and wheel opening SEEMED smaller, just an optical illusion I guess. I would rather have the flares than not, they look cool. I got the charcoal grey paint with the matching flares - however,I bet black flares on charcoal grey would look even cooler.
>MOST DEALERS ANYWHERE WILL SELL A 1/2 CLOSE TO INVLICE. YOURE PERSISTANCE WILL DETERMINE HOW CLOSE<
(Please turn off your caps lock. It's the electronic version of shouting).
That's not true; it depends on the area. In Southern California (Los Angeles and Orange Counties) the absolute BEST deal I could get in April '99 was $800 over invoice. That was for an order; in-stock was $1200 over. No one will come even close to that now; the fleet manager where I bought mine says they'll only go down to $1000 over invoice for their best repeat customers. There just aren't any available, and those that arrive sell within about a week. The dealers figure why discount for one customer when you can sell to someone else for more.
Yet in Bakersfield, there are huge numbers of trucks on the lots and they DO deal.
Keep in mind, though, that you're not only buying a truck, you're buying service. If you only go for the low buck on the purchase, do you think the dealer will go to bat for you in case of a problem?
It's kind of like the people who buy everything at Costco and Wal Mart, then go to a local store when there are problems or when they need advise or info on how to use the product...
Don't expect to have your order picked up. A friend of mine was told that his was put on hold indefinitely. I had a 99 canceled in June. I ordered a 2000 immediately before there was a price list and received it early September. Good luck.
My wife has an employee/family discount certificate from her retired GM employee father. Today we were quoted at a DFW area dealer $19,019 for a 2000 LT Reg Cab (not extended) with the standard LT stuff but with a 4.8 v8 engine & auto trans. instead of the v-6. Seemed to be too high a price to me to be a real employee discount. (also - he seemed to be steering us to one a salesman had been driving with 500 miles on it)
Is he flim-flamming us on this price being an employee discount? He didn't show us any paperwork or literature about the program. Does anyone know the rules on using these certificates. Should we go straight to a manager with it to get a valid price. HELP!! I need a truck!
I use the caps cause i never learned to type. Easier than using that shift button. I agree that these trucks are in high demand,(certainly not as negotiable as an s-10),and i would not expect to pay below 500$ over. I would consider 500-even 1000 over a fair deal if indeed what you are looking for is hard to find. When you consider the msrp to be 3000$ + over invoice it's not so bad. However in my case, and i'm sure in many others,it is possible to find that seemingly impossible deal. For the last month i have been searching for a 00' 2500 LT 4x4 ext. cab. This truck is very rare and most all the dealers i talked to that had this truck, or would get one,or even order were asking close to or even over msrp. Finally found a truck that met my specs at a dealer 180 mi. away that was willing to go 900$ over. I made that drive the next day to pick up my new truck. As far as servise goes i will take it to a local dealer if needed. Dealers get paid well for warranty service and should not treat you differently for not purchasing from their dealership.
Looking to buy a 2000 silverado ls z71 here in Hawaii. So far I'm looking at 3 options. Buying from a dealers inventory, having the dealer special order one for me, or purchasing through a car broker located on the mainland. Has anyone had experience in purchasing through a car broker? Particularly when shipping long distance is involved. Where you satisfied with the auto you recieved? Did it have all you ordered? Anything missing? Price? Can you trust a Car Broker? You have to understand my situation. Making a very expensive purchase from somebody I won't even see and having to do this from accross the pacific ocean.
I have searched invoicedealers.com and nothing avail in any area codes that I tried. I am looking for a '00 LT 4x4. Anyone know of a good dealership that will sell no more than $500 over invoice.
Although these trucks are in high demand, the availability on 1/2 tons in our area is good. Many dealers will not work the invoice on the silverado, but there are some who will.In 98' i purchased a loaded c/1500 for 500$ over at Auburn chevrolet. It took some work to find the truck i wanted at the price i would pay but the satisfaction of knowing i didn't pay to much is worth it.This year i wanted to upgrade to a 00'2500,LT,4x4,ext. cab. With very few of these trucks available most dealers are charging full msrp or more! After many weeks of unsuccessful negotiating i did find a truck i wanted at a dealer that was willing to go 900$ over (Brooks in Bellevue).I considered this a good deal on this rare truck and made the purchase. There is a 500$ over deal out there somewhere, just have to find it.
I'm looking at a '99 LT 4X4, with a sticker of $32,574, out the door now at the AutobyTel price of @$29,200. Figure this is $550 over invoice, since it has Trailer Package, Z71, and 265 WOL tires as only options. Price does not include GM rebate, so I'm $500 more in my favor more to come. Sock on College Grad $400 bonus, and I'm $900 more below his quote to boot.
The 2000s are undenaibly more attractive, with the bump in HP, but they are priced $4-$5 hundred more than '99, plus then there is the rebate on 99s.
Question about bed covers....the 2000 model year catalog has a lockable folding tonneau cover from GM listed....anyone have it and know the price? Is it weatherproof? Can it support any amount of heavy wet snow?? I assume it is plastic....
Anyone has the GM roll/ light bar? What did you pay for it?
I recently bought a 2000 LT for $440 over invoice. Also, the gmgrad program allows you $400 off, but the catch (there's always a catch in buying a vehicle) is that you have to finance it through GMAC which equals a higher interest rate. I financed through a credit union at 6.25%! GMAC was 8 or 9 percent. Also, on 99 models the dealer will have received a rebate from GM...you should be able to buy it for lower than 550 over invoice. Don't let the customer rebate fool you, made the dealer give you a good price...that rebate doesn't cost them anything! Good luck!
Question for those who have bought since Sept. 1: When you quote your price over/at invoice, are you signing your rebate over to the dealer, or are you subtracting that from the invoice? It's still a good deal either way, but if you're getting near invoice AND getting the rebate, that's a REALLY good deal.
Just a reminder that the Silverado rebate is not national. It is not available in Southern California, for example. There are no (or few) '99s in Los Angeles County either, so it doesn't matter much.

I think you better find another dealer if he was talking to you about an LT. Are you sure it wasn't an LS.
Please somebody correct me if I am wrong, but all LTs are extended cab with Vortec 5300 V8.
