SouthBay Toyota has an add in the Daily Debris
(Breeze) offering 5 Tunda's with 3476 dollar off
with msrp of 24760 or less.
The add says store financing or cash,no payment till Dec 99.
heard many a gripe, but who has done the measure?
If these bed facts be wrong then lets hear on this
one. What say, is that bed stumpy on the depth,
(as in the big3 full size camper wont fit) or is it not? Facts on that tindra size should be
heard, I hear alot of gripe, but no one deny, is this cuz them facts are true now? Lets make it simple, that tindra not the full size one, and folks should have the knowin of this one. If you try to add the full size camper to that limited one, it just will not fit! This is the fact! Is this good or is this bad? I not say its bad, just that it is what it is. Gezz! Now some say
"back it up with real facts", go measure yourself! Or better yet, by the full size camper
and have it not fit! Have yet to get the answer
on that limited and that hitch, just one theory
that the factory registered that tindra as a
"compact", what say on this "compact" theory?
You don't have to beat the size difference to death. You act like Tundra buyers are idiots and cannot or do not do comparison shopping.
Let it go!!!!!! Go find something else to do. You have too much time on your hands.
Your job here is to keep people "in line" and keep offensive behavior out. I re-read the user agreement and the rules are somewhat vague, leaving you with the authority to "govern" and interpret as you see fit.
You've threatened many times and have occasionally taken action to stop offensive behavior. The problem is, your interpretation of offensive, or your bias, I'm not clear which it is. I think comment you label as offensive is actually DEFENSIVE.
Instead of looking for specific insulting language, why don’t you look at the reaction of other participants? It’s plain as day obvious that this one specific person has offended almost every member in the Tundra discussion boards with his absurd garbage he spews from his keyboard on a daily basis, with little or nothing constructive to add. Couldn’t this be classified as offensive behavior? You can obviously see the complete frustration us Tundra owners have with him by our responses, which you censor and then threaten to freeze our topic, as you did recently. Why don’t you remove the source of the problem, and STOP TRYING TO FIX THE SYMPTOM. You seem intelligent enough to see the situation.
If you’re unwilling to take a close look at the Tundra topics to see what the problem is, why aren’t you replaced with software that searches for specific words or phrases and automatically hides the text? What’s the point in having a human monitor the discussion if he/she is unable to “read between the lines”?
Take your pick – Tundra owners with money to spend, a valuable audience for Edmunds, or one crazy fool, intent on stirring things up. This is what Edmunds is heading for.
If someone criticizes the Tundra they are not criticizing you. You are being needled and responding just as the needler wants.
In the other topics both sides are responding and going at it. Here, the anti-Tundra prods and pro-Tundra screams. Almost like monkeys in the trees, screaming and throwing turds at the leopard as he stalks beneath them. The only way the leopard responds is by occasionally eating one of the monkeys.
The question is: Are you going to be the monkey or the leopard?
Why not just read the posts as amusing and move on? Or not read them at all for that matter.
Some one asked on that limited getting the refusal
at the dealer for a hitch - I simply state there
have been others with this trouble. This is a
fact, scan back, you will see.
Some one asked on that camper - I simply research
and state the facts too. Read the posts, this
was all just simple truths.
Now, what I did not do:
Attack anyone personally.
Call any names or such.
What do you think this forum is for? To ego stroke each other on that great choice we made on that tindra? We need new topic, we call it:
Tindra owners with nothing but good to say.
Evey time anybody say anything, and I mean
ANYTHING, that slightly put downs that tindra
people here go nuts!
Facts is facts, grow up, get over it.
a tindra fact (and I mean the lie, as in made in up) or insulted 1 tindra OWNER. You do this and I will leave, if you find none, then you grow up.
I clearly find that you have violated your user agreement by harrassing this topic. You have threatened us with your dog Franklin? You have lied many times.
Why is it that the ford and dodge truck owners don't have as much to say about the Tundra as the Chevy guys? Could it be four door envy? Lets face it, Chevy will be three years late to market with the fourth door on Zilverado. That's not a lot to write about as Ford, Dodge, and now Toyota have products on the market. I guess if I had 99 or 2000 three door chevy, I would be upset, since its value has dropped like a rock and will accelerate when the 4th door chevy gets to market. Marketing folks a Chevy got rocks in their heads........
But I do have a problem with you saying you 'researched it' like you went out your way to bring some obscure facts to us.
Fact is, you don't know that much. For example, your fact about Tundras, Engines, then parts being sourced from Mexico. I can tell you that this is not true. What is true? Toyota does not own or operate a single factory in Mexico. As far a I know, they do not have a primary source or is in partnership of a factory in Mexico. This includes vehicle plants, engine plants, and transmission plants. Now let's take a look at the big three. GM has three vehicle plants, two engine plants, and zero transmission plants in Mexico; Ford has two vehicle plants, two engine plants, and zero transmission plants; DaimlerC has four vehicle plants, two engine plant and one transmission plant.
So what is the meaning of this? Your beloved Chevy is more likely to be produced in Mexico than our Tindras. In other words, DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU TELL.
The real sad part to this whole thing is:
1 - This pointless bickering is screwing up what was a great board to post information and is now crudded up with dung from both sides.
2 - It's attitudes like yours that will once again bring a slow down to the two big American businesses that I had thought was turning around. Just when Ford and GM is becoming profitable again, they are going to get railroaded AGAIN. If this attitude don't change, Detroit, and everywhere else is going to be hurting again. Read the Newsweek article, but make sure you jump to the interview with the three execs. I love this country (I'm a proud immigrant) and have a business here. I want to see US businesses succeed (probably) more than most people. But this attitude of denial is going to get everybody blindsided.
Dimensions don't matter a hoot. It's all in the buying consumer's perception that counts. If you want to compare a Ford Escort to a Corvette, well as long as you have the money, it's your opinion that counts!!
(FPP) I have a proposal: Meredith, why don't you open a new topic on GM, Ford, DC versus Toyota Tundras, that way we can get this board on track.
Sorry for the diversion folks, I will not add to this issue further, and I will be hiding is as to not take up so much space.
is the truth, or the truth as I know it. I agee with much of what you wrote.
Ed, Franklin is my Grandson (fully grown), and
I ask you to find any post where I have EVER
threated any person on this forum. By the way
you cannot "harras" a forum, Ed, you need alot
of grownin up to do, get over it.
Enuff of this personal stuff, its this personal
stuff that gets a topic shut down, so lets get
this one back back to the trucks, eh?
there i said it
now dont be a liar, be true to your word and leave
thank you
As far as campers, I saw a full size camper mounted on a Tundra 4x4 SR5 Access Cab. Followed it for a while and saw no excess sway or signs of any other problems.
To the Chevy guy harrassing the site: I towed two jet skis and trailer (2500 lbs. with gear and gas) with my T100 4x4. Followed my friend with a Chevy Sierra 4x4, 5.7, automatic. I stuck with him on the hills (4-6% highways in 120 degree weather). Only difference was when he stopped for gas, I waved as I drove by. Seems we both had 25 gallon tanks but he was running on empty when I still had a 1/4 tank left. His truck also broke down twice this summer on trips through the desert too!
RUBLUETOO ONE BURNING ? WHY ARE YOU HERE. WHY DON'T YOU LEAVE THIS TOPIC TO PEOPLE WHO WOULD LIKE TO CONVERSE ABOUT OR EVEN COMPARE TRUCKS. IT'S OBVIOUS YOUR ONLY HERE TO BASH TUNDRA.
P.S. HOW ABOUT A LITTLE SPEACH THEAPY.
Sorry to the rest of the board. Capt
Silverado:
285HP - 16/20 - 34 gallon tank - Tow - 8200
Tindra:
245HP - 15/19 - 26 gallon tank - Tow - 7200
Just a fact dogster and all, don't come unglued.
(Chevy - Ford - Dodge) camper will not fit
in the smaller bed of that tindra. The big3 all
have a bed demension that is of a uniformed size.
That tindra bed is 2 inch shorter - and more
importantly, 3 inch less deep. A camper should rest at 2 points in that bed -
on the rails and on the floor. There is no way
a big3 camper could do this in the smaller
tindra bed. That not to say a smaller camper
will not fit, and still appear to be a full size
one, when mounted on a tindra.
I dun read that post #155 in topic #778. What exactly did you mean when you referenced Franklin in dem last few sentences? Dat wont no "threat" wuz it? Hates to see you vilate dat tisipants agreement now. Good luck on dis one, too.
I dun read in dis here topic wher you said dat a hitch WEIGHS too much for dat Tundra to haul. How much do a hitch weigh? Wuz dis a lie or just a zaggeration? No offense meant on dis one...jus tryin' ta understand sum tings.
I be goin' to chase dat big buck now..I'll check for yo answer dis evening.
Don't believe the EPA ratings for the gas mileage for the Tundra. I get 16 city and upto 21 highway, all the time. So MY Tundra will be passing any Chevy while they are at the gas pumps.
P.S. Use the Spellcheck button to check your spelling..
please try. I read that post you referenced,
this is a fact on Franklin, he would be upset
(you can not read the one I was responded too
because monitor had it removed). Once again
you not know the fact (please mature soon).
To all on this topic:
I will no longer respond to anything personal
in nature, if it be about a truck, then I
respond, anything of a child like comment, I not
respond. Why don't we all get back to disccuin
them trucks!
Dogster, this is about a truck so here is a respond: as far as that EPA, just statin the fact,
the Chevrolet (tells EPA) gets the better gas mileage, this is the fact, and it haul more (8200) than that tindra too! Does this make the
Chevrolet better? I not say that! Just that
Chevy hauls greater amount, and gets better gas
mileage, maybe some think haul less, and get
poorer gas mileage make the better! What say on this one?
in the past.
What say you on that hitch comment? How much does a hitch weigh? Is the weight of the hitch too much for the Tundra to haul like you said? Just talking about trucks here you know. Please enlighten this "collage" kid. Thanks.
Not here much from you except cryin. When you
goin grow up little one? What say on
this Brookside boy? Do you have a theory on why that dealer not install the hitch or not?
must be false! eh? And that tindra hauled that
great big Chevy size trailer to safety too? And
yes I agree, when you say he loved your tindra, I
think that is funny too! Now lets get back to
a fact, does anyone have a knowin as to why some
of them tindra dealers refuse to add a hitch to
that limited one?
http://www.edmunds.com/newtrucks/2000/toyota/tundra/sr5v84wdaccesscab.html
Option Code:
DH - Towing Receiver Hitch (All Except Limited)
Also got following:
Payload capacity is 2,000 pounds and towing capacities for the V8 start at 5,000 pounds (it goes up to 7,000 pounds with an optional tow package).
So, according to Edmunds, that limited is not
available with that hitch/tow package.
I think that limited has softer rear springs for
better ride and such, that is why tow package and
hitch is N/A on the limited one. This is not to
say that some dealer could add the hitch, but I
would really want to know why it not available
from that factory, and if the tow/haul is as
a standard one.
this bicker and personal attack and such. I
have asked edmunds that rubluetoo be deleted
out now. Hope you happy you have driven off
an 82 year old one. Good luck and God bless to
all now.
I haven't noticed that noise on mine. I have been down quite a few "farm" roads lately, too. But, I will make a point to check it out on my next trip.
powercat,
I guess you did that haul!!
others,
Looks like this board will be getting back to normal now. I am looking forward to it!
This occurred before I read any of the postings or had any knowledge of a vibration issue. The truck was absolutely great. But now I'm a little hesitant to buy.
Does anyone have any more answers?
Scott
I'm not sure you'll get any really good answers in this forum but I'll try to help. The first thing you should do is ask the salesman "hey what's up with this vibrating truck". Test drive another Tundra (same model) and see if your still having the problem. You didn't specify if the vibration occured during all decelerations. From the sound of it (brake pedal pulsating during stops) I'd say there is warped disc. I would be wary of buying such a truck as well. I hope it doesn't make your decesion any harder but the local news stationed aired a chevy truck (looked brand new) burning from the cab forward (engine fire). It caught on fire while dropping off someone at the airport. It's scary spending 25-30 grand on a truck hoping it'll be dependable. So far I've been very pleased with my Tundra. I will post any problems that come up in the future (lets hope they don't).
You can substantially increase reliability of all wire connections by liberally applying silicone calking to the wires before connecting them. You end up with a sealed waterproof high temperature connection. This also works on light bulbs especially for boat trailers that see water.

Has the head gasket problem been dealt with or can I expect a problem?
