Ok....called the dealer at 9:ooam. Up my offer by $200...they called me back..no they won't budge...up it another $200...now we are $400 apart. Gave the old give me a break routine and do you know how many thousands your making off me. Also the old I'm bring it in for your service.
Well they still refused...Thats it....you can only be pushed so far...After the bull about how my trade is only worth 14k...I blew a nut..I told him "I have in contract $16900 for my trade do you want to see it" no they didn't I said "So the dealer who gave me that price must be smoking crack? What the hell are you guys smoking over there" Just a see ya later and the phone call ended...I'm kinda glad it fell thru...I was feeling really guilty spending that much. I am now looking forward for my black SR5 coming in in a few weeks...I just wish they would call back just to give them a hard time. If they offer it to me at my last offer, I will laugh and tell them that offer was yesterdays. Todays is $800 lower....so back to the waiting game....hey do you think taht dealer is reading this? L

but i agree. don't budge anymore for the leather.
i'm sure it feels all nice and cuddly, but it's a truck, man! leather is too much maintenance... and too much money! save the leather option for the lexus, and hang tight for your sr5. it won't disappoint.

I know you think the leather is high maintenance but I disagree. I have three dogs that ride in my truck, you ever try to get dog hair out of fabric?
I think leather is very low maintenance, is sure doesn't spot like fabric is cool in the summer and is very comfortable.
To JCM1. Hang tight. The dealer you are talking to sounds like a jerk. Don't give in. However if you really like the Limited I suggest you find one at another dealer.Don't settle for less then what you really want or chances are you will not be happy with it.
    Good Luck.

Im another waiting for an SR5...... been one week
    today.
Anybody know what the average wait is?
I had one ordered once before but canceled out cause dealer ticked me off. Did business with him for 12 years and got a better deal from his competitor.
I feel like a little kid waiting for Xmas to arrive......shezzzzzz!!! I gotta grow up.

I livein central Kansas and ordered my Tundra 2 months ago, it's supposed to be here any day. I'll believe it when I see it. It's worth the wait.
  • quadrunner500quadrunner500 Member Posts: 2,721
Okay, you did all right. The dealer could be jerking around someone else, same as he did you, playing one off against the other.

But if you feel like playing poker, and this is the same dealer you ordered your black truck from, you could cancel the order, and ask for your deposit back. That will get them in a tiff. On the other hand, if you ordered it from another dealer, and the deal for your trade is too sweet, they can change THEIR minds, if they think they will make more profit, and sell it right out from under you, no matter that you waited XX weeks, or gave them a deposit. Just because you've got one on order, don't stop shopping the lots. The deal is NEVER done until you've handed them the check. There are always surprises. Your present trade could be worth a little less by the time your special order arrives. They give you some buyers orders, or other papers that show you negotiated a deal with them, and take your deposit, but it's all just to keep YOU from shopping until THEY can sell you a truck. They are under no obligation whatsoever to honor that understanding you had with them, and haggled over probably. They can, in some circumstances, be perfectly willing to start haggling you again if they think there is profit to be made. So keep your focus. Even if you gave them a $1000 deposit, just tell the second dealer he can make a deal with you if he helps you get your deposit back so you can buy from him. They will, trust me.

Some of the best tools for successful negotiation are right here on the Edmunds site, in another area.

hmmnn... didn't everyone else get dunlops like I did?...i wonder if toyota (or the dealers) have changed their tire suppliers from dunlop to bridgstone because of or related to the vibration issues? like i said before, i just rotated my tires (the dunlop P265/70/R16), and that stopped the SLIGHT vibration for now (hopefully forever)... but i'd be interested to know up to this point, what tires tundra buyers got vs. what they'll get in the future. case in point: maybe somebody decided that the bridgestones eat up more of the vibration than dunlops? any tire pros out there?

Thanks for the advice..I was ready to sit back and wait but your right...I have to keep looking. I have the SR5 on order with another dealer. It is the dealership that I bought my last three cars from. I have been doing business with them for eight years. They know this and that is most likely why I have a sweet trade in allowance with them. They said they would honor that price when the new truck showed up also. I would be really surprised if they tried any tricks at this point. I have talked to three others and no one is coming close to giving me what I want for my trade. The limited I saw really took over my emotions. I know that...the dealer knows that...my wife knows that!!! Boy she can't wait till this is over.....so I will keep looking I guess...better then waiting around for the phone to ring.......

Why don't you all save yourselves alot of agony and money and buy a base model Tacoma like I did.(I know, you're laughing your asses off.)

Seriously,if I could afford a Tundra I would probably be waiting like the rest of you, staring at the phone like a junkie waiting for a fix.

I hope all of you get the truck you want even if you have to pay more for it because of the demand. The years of happiness may be worth it.

Well I bit the bullet last Sunday and purchased the first limited to hit a dealers lot. A white, TRD, ABS, 6disk, running boards, alarm w/keyless, yadda yadda, every bell and whistle Tundra. All I can say is, well actually I can't say much cause my perma-grin has made it hard to talk too much.

This truck is nice, feels like a lexus sedan, doens't necessarily ride like one but looks inside and sounds like one. The TRD package on the freeway is ok but it is a little stiff. But hey, it's a truck, what the heck can you expect.

Any how quibbles or problems, none so far. It has the captains chairs in it and there is not a rattle, or vibration anywhere. The steering wheel feels solid with no vibration at all. The pedal feel is great both on the gas and brake. Turning radius is awesome. Two lane road with small shoulder I was able to pull a U turn no problem.

On to issues. I want more meat on the road but not more tire height, so I want to stick with ~31 inch diamater that the 265 70 r16's have. I am also going to go to aftermarket rims. The wheel flares with the stock tires just look like they have too much room in them. So any suggestions? I can only find a couple tires for a 16 inch rim that are wider and the same height. One being a Dick Cepek tire the Fun country which is a 31 inch diameter, 11.5 inch wide 16 inch rim but they are spendy (some $210 per tire - ouch). I would prefer not to go to a 32 or bigger tire due to potential issues with the abs and I want to keep the gearing the same.

Anyone else put aftermarket tires and rims on their Tundra and what did you put on???

On to future stuff, Friday I get my Line x spray on done, over the rails. And I still need to get a bug guard. Any suggestions on that? where and how much - if you have one do you like the look of it and the install? Also I want some rubber work mats that will hold water or sand and such and keep it off my carpet. Any aftermarket work mats available??

Still waiting for the alarm and running boards to come in to the dealer.

As far as the stereo goes, what is everyone moaning about? I don't know if the six disk unit sounds any different from the normal 6 speaker unit but it is pretty nice. Granted radio recption I have had better, but not too bad and put a CD on and it is pretty darn good. I was prepared to swap it out when I bought it but I am not going to now if that means anything to any of you.

OK you folks probably are wondering what I got it for. Had to drive out of town because in a recent go round at Thomason auto group (slime ball leave you feeling like you need a shower scum of the earth dealership of the world) in Portland OR I headed out to Longview WA. Didn't get a screaming bargain, but what can you expect when your one of the first and it is their first Limited. 1K under MSRP total done and said. Ya they made their money on me but there just aren't many of these around and personally although more than the competitive domestic offerings I thought it was worth it. Plus regardless of how much info you have on them dealers are preselling these with ADP, at least that is what I have been finding, your mileage may vary. Mileage I can't comment on in that I've only put 300 miles on it so far so I haven't had to fill up yet.

That's it for now, if anyone is interested I'll do a followup as things progress.

One last note, for those bashing this rig, I can't see where you are coming from. I drove all the top of the line trucks before buying the toyota. They all were nice in their own way but in my eyes the toyota just was a nicer rig for my purposes.

    Good luck,

    Carl

I will mention again the bug shield for the Tundra since you asked. I picked up the Lund shield, model number 18083. It is made only for the Tundra and installed great. You have to drill four 1/8" holes under the front edge of the hood. It comes with two stainless L shaped brackets that extend past the grill. It only took about 15 minutes to install and looks great. Also you do not need those stick on bumpers on the hood that some bug shields require. Even at highway speeds the flex in the shield never comes close enough to touch the hood. I purchased is locally for $55 but you can buy it from www.detailshop.com.

Thought I would share a comment about Toyota customer service. I had an aftermarket alarm/keyless entry installed about 10 days ago from a 'professional' installer. The alarm works fine but I notices that there were several scratches in the lower kick panel and panel below the steering wheel where this installer had to take them off to get to the wiring harness. He certainly was not very careful with his cordless screw driver and other tools. I called the dealer to see if they had any type of touch up paint for the interior, they did not, only paint touch up. Shortly before the installation I received a video from the Toyota Mid-Atlantic division with a letter from their president thanking me for the purchase. So I thought I would write him telling him how pleased I am for the truck and about the scratches that this installer did. Well about three days after I sent the letter the service manager from my dealer called me and said they would take care of the scratches by having a Toyota rep from the regional office come down to repair them, even though they were caused by someone else. I dropped the truck off late that afternoon, picked up a new Toyota Corolla loaner and the next day the Tundra was repaired beautifully, at no charge. When I looked at the repair invoice they coded the charge to "Toyota Goodwill Repair". Now this is customer service.

I checked my tire pressure today(I have an appointment to check balancing tomorrow). The psi ranged from 23lbs to 36lbs! All four were different. I changed the fronts to 28 lbs and the rears to 32 pounds. My 55 mph shimmy is gone! It is shake free to 62 mph. I'll check it out on the highway at higher speeds later today. I want to go ahead and check the balancing, however. If the psi can vary so much, I imagine the balancing could be screwed up also. I'll keep you informed. This truck is AWESOME. If you are on the fence...get down and buy the TUNDRA!!!

    Cwirth,
Glad to hear about Toyota backing you up! Try that with a Chevy and see what happens...nothing.
  • quadrunner500quadrunner500 Member Posts: 2,721
Then I would stick with that dealer, the one you trust.

But the advice to keep looking remains. When I bought my truck, I had one on order too. When I found my eventual truck, it was on another dealers lot. I called up my salesman and said "Get that truck for me." He did. Dealers can trade out allotments, or other trucks between themselves. It's not unusual they have a truck/car that someone else wants, and the dealer that needs it has another one, or an allotment that the first dealer can use in return. So keep looking. It ain't over till it's over!

Is that red limited still out there?
  • jcm1jcm1 Member Posts: 48
I don't trust any dealer!!!!! I just made about 7 calls to different dealers. I found about 5 SR5's on the lots waiting. None were my black like the one I have on order. One guy asked me to put a deposit down over the phone with my credit card. After I stopped laughing...I said maybe I'll be down. He has a Thunder gray..that is the only color I haven't seen yet. Anyway...just for sh%^s and giggles I called my dealership and asked another dealer if they had any. Well he said I've got a red and black one coming in next week! Well my salesperson told me sometime in the middle of September. I then tried to get a hold of her but couldn't. I will play there game and will be watching their lot like a hawk all next week. If my truck shows up and I'm not told....well any suggestions on what to do???? I know what I would like to do...but I don't have much bail money lying around.....Dam I can't stop thinking about that Limited I let go!!! Someone shoot me again...I'm still breathing!!!!!!

    jcm1:

Let me tell you about my experience with one dealer. I test drove the Tundra on May 8 at a dealer close to my home. I wanted the Sunfire Red but they said out of the 5 SR5s coming at the end of May all but a green one was sold. He said he could hold the green one for me. Green was my third color choice. I did not do anything at that time since he would only come down $1000 off MSRP so I left. On May 20 I went back, we negotiated more and I got him down to $1500. He said, "Oh too bad you didn't buy the last time because the green one has been sold". Oh well, it was my decision to wait so you snooze, you lose. He said the next allotment would be in July 1.

Well about 1 week later I drove by the dealership and saw a green Tundra in the lot. Knowing that the salesperson was off that day I went in the showroom and another salesperson came up to me. I asked whether that green Tundra on the lot was for sale. He said yes. At that exact moment the sales manager, who knew me from the previous visit yelled, I mean yelled loud across the showroom and said "You know that is not your truck, yours won't be in until July". There were others in the showroom and they all looked over at me. I tore into that sales manager. If fact another sales person was trying to close a deal in a desk nearby and he moved them to a desk on the other side of the showroom. We were in a shouting match, he said "What do you want me to do build the truck for you?" I was steaming. I got my $500 deposit check back and bought my Tundra, in Sunfire Red, from a dealer 1/2 mile from my office. They beat the other dealer's deal and then gave me $1200 more on my trade. Overall I did much better.

I think the first dealer wanted to try to sell the green truck at MSRP and was going to let me wait. Later I found out that the July 1 delivery date was actually closer to the end of July. So they lied about that too. It all worked out in the end. I would never buy anything from that dealer.
  • jcm1jcm1 Member Posts: 48
Thanks for the story...now I'm really getting excited.....Can they not sell my truck to me if its sitting on their lot and I have a sales contract???? OKKKKK.... how about starting a bail fund for me?? I'm going to need it!!!
  • quadrunner500quadrunner500 Member Posts: 2,721
    Cwirth,
Great story. You proved with an anecdote exactly what I believe some are capable of.

    Jcm1,
I bet you don't have a valid sales contract. You need a VIN number for that I believe. The paper you have more likely proves to the dealer that you negotiated a price and gave them a deposit. And that they can hold your money, and sell you a truck if someone else isn't willing to pay more for it first. An ethical dealer might not, but the temptation is strong. It's called buying time. It's okay for you to play the game, because the potential reward for you might be in the form of a better price.

But when that black truck comes in, jot the VIN number down if you can. I think Cwirth is exactly right. Maybe you could have someone else make a call on that black truck for you, on your behalf, when it comes in. Make sure they get a different salesman. With two "hits" on it, the dealer or sales manager may play harder, so it's risky. But all is fair, because they might otherwise tell you it's on hold for another customer. You could ask them what money it would take to get that other bidder's spot in line. If you up the offer, then guess what? The other bidder's deal fell through! Too bad for him. Congratulations. They extend a hand to shake, and say you just bought yourself a truck. They might have been willing to sell the same truck to you later at a lower price. There might not have even been another bidder. They need trucks on the showroom floor to get other people to come in and make deposits. But for the right offer, you can drive one off the floor today. So I would consider your black special order truck a fall back option. If it comes in before you find one on a lot, then great. But time is money. You can probably get your deposit back, even though they told you it was non-refundable.
  • tp4unctp4unc Member Posts: 437
    my two cents:
Three people tried to buy my truck before I could get there with my $...even though it had pre-sold tags hanging on it. My dealer would NOT even let the potential buyer's sit in the vehicle. I imagine your dealer will do the same. It is much better for them to sell to you and keep you as a happy, REPEAT customer than to tick you off and have you tell all your friends not to buy from them. They can always get more Tundras to sell to others. The more they sell, the more Tundras they can have allocated anyway. Everything will be alright. The wait is worth it!!

Here we go. Yesterday I solved my vibration(slight) problem. This made me very happy. Today(after about 150 miles), I decided to check my mileage. I have drivem about 99% in the city with the A/C at full blast. My calculations show 12(yes, I typed 12) mpg. I hope like heck this improves to at least 14 or 15. We'll see what happens as the engine breaks in. How are some of you guys getting 17 mpg? Do you have 2 or 4 wheel drive? Any info will be appreciated.
  • fortwhitetom2fortwhitetom2 Member Posts: 1
SR5 4X4 Access Cab, Dunlops @ 35psi all around, Leer cab-high fiberglass cap, A/C 100% of the time, 10% interstate driving, 10% city driving, 80% country/secondary roads, flat terrain (Florida), 87 octane gas, and do not "baby" it.

Average overall mileage from day 1 to present (currently @ 14,000 mile mark) & yes, I check and record gas usage EVERY TIME I refuel = 17.7 mpg

Mileage increased 1) when tire pressures were adjusted, 2) when topper was installed, and 3) after about 4,000 - 5,000 miles of use.

FYI - worst was 14.5 mpg (brand new / 1st tank)
best was 18.9 mpg (3 hours @ steady 70-75mph on the interstate)

I to got @ 15 mpg for the first couple tanks of gas. Just got back from a trip to Oregon. I got 17.7 going there and 18.2 coming back. I have a 4x4 access cab. The A/C was used the entire trip. My speed was usually 65-75. The truck had 2 adults, 2kids and the bed was full of our camping gear, clothes etc. Most of the drive (approx 300 miles one way)is flat or rolling hills except for the mountain pass in northern california/southern oregon. Tell us how you alleviated your vibration problem. I haven't noticed one yet but I'm used to driving a beat 1978 toyota. Compared to that old truck, the Tundra is a lexus.
  • tp4unctp4unc Member Posts: 437
I screwed up(It's not the first time!). I got 14.83 mpg NOT 12!!! It's funny how a calculator doesn't take human error into its calculations. Sorry if I alarmed anyone with my error. I couldn't believe my #'s so I went back and re-calculated. I was relieved to say the least.

    Fortwhitetom,
Tell me about your "topper". What brand? How does it look? Price(if you don't mind me asking)? I am interested.

    rwell,
All I did with mine was to change the air pressure in my tires. The pressure ranged from 23 lbs to around 36 lbs. All I did was try to even them out a little. I am having the tires balanced this afternoon also. I want to make sure the balance is not out of whack like the P.S.I. was. By the way, I think the Tundra drives like a Lexus, too!
I cannot believe how quiet the cabin is or how smoothly this thing accelerates. It is FAR superior to any other truck on the market in terms of ride and engine smoothness. The domestic lovers may be able to complain about the size or styling of the Tundra but they can't HONESTLY criticize the ride or engine. If they do, they lose all credibility with me.
  • tp4unctp4unc Member Posts: 437
Just back from the tire shop. ALL four wheels were slightly out of balance. The shop made the proper adjustments and there is now NO shake whatsoever up to 70 mph. I would like to commend Southeast Toyota Distributors for their attention to detail when mounting my tires and alloys. Somebody down there needs a little training! I still love this Lexu...errrr truck!!!!
  • kirbytkirbyt Member Posts: 39
I really glad you found the error on the gas mileage! I was ready to trash the idea of buying a Tundra. Now that you have had yours a few miles a question to you and the Tundra owners. I really want the Tundra but look at the rear seat knowing that any adult will never ride long and stay on good terms with me. The Tacoma PreRunner is a bit smaller, decent engine, and bit less expensive. Did anyone consider this for primary commuting and light DIY projects?

I really think the Tundra is a great size truck and sounds like everyone agrees the ride and engine are extra smooth. So quit telling all your buds out there so I can get the dealer to march down from that MSRP quote!

    Truckless in Houston.

I just ordered my SR5 4x2 Access Cab from carorder.com. They are offering $1000 over invoice. The ETA is about 6-8 weeks. The best I could get by talking to local dealer (DFW area) is about $1000 off MSRP (or $1800 over invoice for the options that I chose) and about the same wait time. I don't know if this will work out eventually yet but I think it's at least worth a try. If you want more info on carorder.com you can go to the that topic (forgot the number) in Smart Shopper area.
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
I considered the Tacoma,I like them alot. My wife said we had to get the Tundra and since I can't bend my back like a dog (and I secretly wanted the Tundra anyway) we got the bigger truck. My kids fit in the back seat just fine and I can tolerate it. I rode in back with my two kids (one in a carseat) and had plenty of room side to side. I'm @ 5'11" and had to move the front seat forward halfway on it's track to accomadate my legs comfortably. It's not comfortable but it's not torture either. I actually fell asleep on the trip home sitting in back. I had a 93 toyota 4x4 extra cab and the back seat was pretty much useless except for small kids (definetly no room for a car seat). I had the dependable but gutless 22r which got @ 22mpg as opposed to my 18mpg with the tundra. The tunra seems a perfect size to me. Not a behomoth that drives akwardly, but big enough to carry everything I need on a vacation
  • ardanielsardaniels Member Posts: 16
Just came from test driving both the 2 wheel and 4X4 and I am amazed on how smooth riding the 4X4 seems to be. Very comparable with the 2 wheel version. Of course being accustomed to driving a 90' Landcrusher, either version is incredible both in handling and POWER (yeah!!). I am on the long legged side (6'3") and although roomy, I am wondering if the captain chair set up adds any length or lowers the driver for us tall folk? Both demos were of the bench type.

    Think I am hooked
  • tp4unctp4unc Member Posts: 437
I admit the back seats aren't that comfortable(at least for long distance use). However, I'll be driving so I'm not too concerned. I owned(leased actually) a 96 Tacoma 4x4(4 cyl) before buying this Tundra. The Tacoma was a GREAT truck. Extremely reliable...I drove it over 60,000 miles with only routine maintenance. That sucker would go anywhere in 4 wheel drive! This is not a knock on the Tacoma but, after driving this Tundra, I could never go back. If you want to experience uncomfortable back seats...go sit in the back of the Tacoma for a while...yikes!

    To the people in Houston:

The Tundra STINKS!!!! Hope this helps Kirbyt
  • kirbytkirbyt Member Posts: 39
Thanks tp4unc I need all the help I can get! I love the Tundra's size and do not expect to have need of the back seat very often. It's just that my teenager is already 6' and wife figures that she is going to be the person in the back.

Mentioning seats, has anyone seen or compared the new Limited power buckets to the stock? It sounds as if bench or buckets do not make a big difference to the folks buying them. Do the bench seat backs have adjustments similar to the buckets?

Thanks to all for the comments and tips shared on the forum.

Does any know if you can get the "color matched"
fender flares on a sr5? Or what I mean is can you
get them and add them on yourself later.
  • cwirthcwirth Member Posts: 169
    ront2:

Funny you should ask that but I am also interested in getting color matched fender flares for my SR5. Let me know what you find out. I searched the Net for aftermarket flares. I e-mailed a couple of sites and they said that they do not have fender flares for the Tundra yet but will let me know they are avaiable.
  • powercatpowercat Member Posts: 96
I just found out my Tundra would be delayed another 3 weeks because of the TRD option. They said a few were made, but it would take another 3 or so weeks for full production. With the SR5 and TRD option, the fender flares are black, not sure if they are plastic or metal, with the Limited and the TRD option, the fender flares are color keyed. I tried to get color keyed with my SR5 and TRD option but no go. I'm not sure how much they would be if you bought them separate. BTW, DID I HEAR SOMETHING ABOUT 3 MILLION GM RECALLS? (couldn't resist.)

    Waiting in Kansas, Tim
  • tp4unctp4unc Member Posts: 437
Sorry to hear about the additional 3 weeks. Hang in there, she's worth the wait!

    FYI(all):

I couldn't help topping off the tank with another 4.8 gallons of 87 octane this afternoon.
    14.3 MPG

Actually I live in Houston and am planning on a January purchase. I have only seen two Tundra's on the road, and I travel about 100 miles a day on tollways, freeways, and side streets. Wife says that I got dangerous when I saw those, but I think that driving by brail (lane bumpies) is legal in Texas.

I would encourage anyone thinking about buying a 1/2 ton pickup to read the article in the October edition of truck trend. It gives the strong and weak points of each of the "big 3+1." Do not pay attention to the price they listed for the Tundra. They listed the price of the RAV4 which is in an article a few pages back instead of the Tundra. So don't get excited when you see a Limited Tundra with options for a limited slip diff. and moon roof for only $23K.

I got the body colored fender flares on my 2WD SR5.

    Albert
  • cwirthcwirth Member Posts: 169
I got a quote for the color keyed fender flares. List price $599, Internet price $499. Thats a far cry from the port-installed price of $352. I guess that I will have to wait a few months for the after market companies to come out with them.

I saw my first Limited today on the lot of a local dealer. It seems that the mud flaps are different for the fender flare equipped Tundra as compared with the mud flaps that come with the SR5. So am I correct in assuming that if I go with fender flares on my SR5 that I will have to replace the mug flaps.

The mud flaps are integrated into the color keyed and black fender flares from the factory.

I have multiple dealers telling me that I can only get ABS breaks with the Limited version. Is this true? Anyone get ABS with the SR5 package yet??

Typical dealer BS, I have ABS on my SR5 Access V8.

Capt2 is correct. ABS IS available on the SR5. I have seen several.

Just saw a Green Limited Tundra pull out of my Subdivision!!!! We went the same way and when we got to a 4 lane road I pulled up beside and was scooping it out. Nice truck. He saw me and grinned and I gave him a big thumbs up. At the light he rolled down his window and I asked him if he got a good deal. He said that he got a good screwing, but that it was a nice truck. Now I know one is in my area, so I will have to track him down. The hunt is on!!!!!

I just logged on and selected all my options, fully loaded SR5 4x4 and the price it spit out was 2500 under MSRP. It also calculates all the sales tax, lic. and other BS fees and gives you the real total - try getting that from a dealer prior to committing to the sale. If your willing to wait for a custom order it might be the way to go. Has anyone used this service before? Pros/Cons? How long should it take for delivery?

It was fast easy and all you could want, but it didn't give you a price that the dealer was willing to sell it for, it put you in touch with a participating dealer and sales person that you then deal with one to one. I liked it and would use it again

The max tire size appears to be a 265/75/r16 in those tight front wheel wells, and I think the fender flares (no matter what the color) currently look gay on the tundra. fender flares are for tires that fit them, and until the tundra has a lift kit, I think the flares look ridiculous -- like those huge dodge rams with the little stock wheels. i would ratehr fill the space than have it look superficial. my 2 cents. i just want a bigger (mostly wider) tire for more off-road capability, but nothing seems to fit. any ideas?

also, if you're looking for a nice canopy, snug is making one in the XV model (it's the best, but around $1600) and check out Legacy ($1300). Raider (in Canada) is slow to produce, but worth the wait (around $1400).

The Truck Trend review had the bedliner design on their "dislike" list. Anyone have the stock bedliner and known why they gave it thumbs down? Also which is better for having a camper shell cab - over the rail or under the rail bedliner?

OK--do any of you bench seat with the center console extended cab 4wd owners have a solution yet to the vibrating/jarring center console problem?...i got 1500 miles now and at first didnt hear much, but now its a bother---only happens when passenger not in seat. Seen lots of gripes about it, but which of you owners has gotten a fix from the dealer on this? Thanks for no speculation or toy bashers---just looking for an owner who has in fact gotten resolution.

For canopy installation most preffered is the under rail bedliner. The canopy doesn't fit right with an over the rail liner and has the potential to slip if your using clamps to mount it.

The dealer near me has 6 4x4 tundras sitting around with no buyers. I think it's because they scared off potetial buyers a couple of months ago with their ridiculous markups. They were asking 36000 for the sr5 models. I was almost to discouraged to buy one initially until I finally found a dealer living in reality. I think if toyota wants to sell more of these trucks in the future, they need to curtail the price gouging by their dealers.
