Hopefully I made a good deal.
Incidentally, their undercoating fee is $689 and lifetime warranty is $2115. Are these prices accurate?
I would cancel the undercoating if it's not too late. That's one of the high dollar profit items the dealer likes to sell people and it is not needed.
In the case of the Chrysler minivans they go through a multi-step electro coating process, where each vehicle is totally immersed and chemicals are bonded to the metal at high voltage. Every millimeter of the metal surface gets coated with this and then baked for 30 minutes in a 400-500 degree oven before proceeding to the paint prep and spray.
If you were told that the undercoating would reduce noise, each minivan goes through a sound deadener booth, where a team of dedicated robots who don't mind working through their breaks and lunch apply deadener to the underside, long before things like wheels, axles and other things are installed. Undercoating is not needed after a Chrysler minivan leaves the assembly plant.
On the extended warranty, those prices are negotiable. If you indicate that you think it's too high the finance manager will most likely try to negotiate a better price with you. Remember, a lifetime powertrain warranty is already included with the purchase.
Been doing a lot of looking at the TC Limited with options: Swivel w/Booster, Tow package, Dual DVD w/ Sirus TV, My Gig w/ Nav, Pwr Sunroof and Power 3rd row.
I get quotes rebated from what the sales person is calling "Dealer Invoice". how do i know it's the real invoice from factory or just a made-up invoice? It's like going into JC Penny and seeing 50% off sales. Marked up 3 times, they are still selling at a profit.
Also, it pisses me off when the sales person boasts a $2500 rebate. Heck, every Joe-Six-Pack that walks through the door gets the rebate, so it's not special to me. Might as well reduce the "invoice" price $2500 and start from there.
I've haggled for a week and am down from MSRP of $42,885 to $35,885. Can I go farther down? Also, with the 2009s around the corner, are the dealers getting some incentives to move the 2008s? Geez, i seen a dealer in Detroit with 247 TC's in stock. You think they would be blowing them out the door at cost+ a few bucks.
PS. Any friend coupons out there?
Thanks!

You wouldn't want a Friends discount. The price you're at is already below the Friends price and it would end up costing you more.
I came up with the same $42,885 MSRP when I configured a vehicle with the same options you mentioned. With a $2,500 rebate the total price with the Friends discount came to $36,067.
I already described the extensive rustproofing process a Chrysler minivan goes through at the assembly plant. If you're concerned about saltwater at the beach just drive it through a car wash and pay the few dollars extra for the undercarriage blaster after you get back from your trip.

With all these "power this" and "power that", dvd screens, knobs, etc... I feel like a longer bumper to bumper is needed.
AT ANY TIME." Do they mean the actual Key Fob?
I also heard about the Friends and Family discount.
This is the same warranty the dealer is selling you. It comes from a Chrysler dealership on the east coast somewhere. If my memory serves me correctly I paid $1550 for the lifetime B2B warranty with $100 deductible. I have received all the paperwork and have used the warranty to get a free loaner vehicle when my van was being worked on, so I can confirm that it is completely legit.
I completely agree with you about the value of the long term warranty with all the technology built into this vehicle.
and I noticed the CC ends 7/31/08. WHat happens on 1 AUG? Does it go up, down, or same? Should I wait? The wife is chompin' at the bit to get into this new T&C L, but I would like to wait and see if incentives go up. Does anyone remember when the $5K CC came out for the 2007s???
Lastly, the web page I mentioned indicates "Dealer Cash" of $400. Is that something I can go to the dealer with and say, "Ummm...you need to pass that along to Mwahhh."? Thanks.

The EC "Employee Choice" program ended on January 3 of this year. There is still an Employee Advantage discount but you either have to be the employee or a close relative to use it.
The Friends discount program is still active. You just need to find an employee who will give you a control number. There is no cost for it so don't let someone tell you it'll be $100, a steak dinner or anything.
You might try asking the dealer if they will sell it to you at the Friends discount price. With the economy the way it is right now some buyers have successfully done this without going through the control number process.
I wish I had a whole lot more of the discounts to give out - they are a popular incentive. However, each employee is only given 6 Friends discounts per calendar year and all of mine have already been spoken for. The EC (Employee Choice) program was discontinued at the start of this year.
Here's what I've been telling people and they have told me it sometimes works. Ask the dealer if they will match the Friends discount price without having to go through the paperwork of processing one. The Friends discount is shown on the invoice price sheet next to the PP (Preferred Pricing) code. It is approximately 1% below factory invoice.
Any rebates or other price incentives are further subtracted from the Friends price for even greater savings. Other than TTL (in some states) no other fees (marketing, dealer prep, etc.) can be added to the Friends price except up to $75 for a doc fee.
My only gripe was I wish Sirius offered more channel.. my kids were asking for Noogin!

Wonderful saleman and small intimate dealership. No F & I dept. to deal with due to small dealer so dealt with one person throughout entire process. Almost mom and pop-like environment. I am glad I checked with the Better Business Bureau online to see if there were any issues with any of my local dealers. This one had no issues as well as another dealer who was down the street from me. However, the dealer closet to me decided it was ok for him to mark up the manufacturer's dvd discount of 1525 charge back into the price. He said Chrysler allows him to do this. The nerve! So I drove 20 mins. further and went to this one and he was right on the money with the lease numbers I compiled myself.
If you want a no hassle environment, I suggest the Chrysler in Valley Stream, NY. My sales guy was Jon. Tell him Vena (pronounced Vee-na) referred you. I thought this was a good deal and a good experience. :shades:

Sounds like a fairly decent deal. As you already discovered, incentives vary by region. I'm sure it has something to do with how well a particular model is selling in various parts of the country.
I configured a T&C Limited according to the list of options above. Apparently there has been a price increase. The current MSRP is $42,155.

I went out this Saturday and got a quote on a 2008 T&C Signature Series with the 25L Option and the Flex seating option (Swivel and Go). The salesperson told me if I wanted to lease I should do something before the end of the month because Chrysler was getting out of the leasing business. He said there was an additional $1000 rebate to be offered. I have a current lease with 3 months left on a Ford that has 36K miles on it so I was going to get it paid off and turn it in. I don't think I want to lease again because with three small kids I figured I would have the minivan 5-10 years. Anyway, he qouted me a sale price but told me I should wait until the 1st of August because he thinks the incentives will be even greater. Here is what he quoted me if I were to get one before the end of July:
MSRP- $32,995
Invoice $30,715
holdback-$967
rebate $3,000
Sale price- $26,748 + 7% Tax
What does everyone think about the offer? Should I wait a week? Should I see if I could get anymore out of him?
Thank you for your input.
I think for that price, that's a good deal.. see my sold price in previous posts.
Anybody have any information as to when Chrysler made the switch? Do stickers ever show the date of assembly? The only option which I suspect might be different is the tailgate seating.
I only want to lease, so I have to get a deal done in the next three days. Thanks.
I haven't been there in person yet...MAYBE next week (Aug.). I also MAY trade in my 05 GC. I, too, am hoping for a larger rebate as it gets closer to 2009s coming out!
Do I have better bargaining power with the dealer who has the car (200 miles away), or can I still get a really good deal if I go through the local dealer (who I bought the Dodge GC from) about 25 miles away? I have not yet told them where the car I want is located.
Any and all advice welcome. Thanx!
Yes, I can see that they would try to get u to buy from them, but I believe if it's under warranty I should be able to take it to ANY Chrysler dealer in the country.
BUT...what do u think about the price? What is the lowest u think I MIGHT get it for? what about that F&F I've been reading about?
Brilliant Black T&C Touring with Dual DVD system and heated cloth seats. Front and middle seats are heated.
$369 per month. $0 down, $0 paid last night.
Rebates: $3000, $750 lease loyalty, $1000 lease cash (new this week), $500 military (with free oil changes). And they paid the last two months of my current T&C lease. Waive lease end charge too. And I am keeping the old van for the two months.
Used Chrysler Friends and Family price. Seemed to be about 8% below MSRP.
The family loves the Dual DVD and SAT radio. We load two CD into the MP3 player last night. It takes about 10 minutes per CD.
The van go 19 mpg (according to the onboard computer) driving home on a major 3 lane road with lights.
This is the base signature series (which are more options than I thought I would ever own in a van).
I paid $412 per month (taxes included). While higher than most, I was 11,000 miles over on my previous lease, had a fairly large sized dent in the back, about a 1 foot long crack on the bottom of the front grill, had a quarter sized rust/chip spot on the back top of the van. Brakes or steering was going out, cup holder inside was broken, along with a few other flaws. Tires were in poor condition and needed to be repalced. It was an 05 Touring edition with DVD, 59,000 miles
I figured there was at least $2500 worth of work needed to be put into my current van, so I walked out thinking I got a good enough deal.
3 year lease, not a penny down, first payment and drive off. They started at almost $500 per month saying my van wasn't worth the residual so I used that saying why would I lease another van that would be worthless in 3 years?
Now the question is: buy now to take advantage of the "end of the month" leverage, or wait until August until the new rebates come out?
decisions, decisions....
I'm probably leasing one today because I'm betting it won't be worth the residual value in 3 years. The 2005 I returned last week had a $17,800 purchase price on it, I think it was worth about $3000 less than that. Plus the features keep getting better.
