Well, after lurking around here for most of the year, I finally joined. I now have a few questions. These are to Tedebear and rmbalisa in particular (since they seem to be the resident CDI and Friends number experts), but anybody can chime in if they know the answer.

What are the rules for the dealer if they have to go get the van from another dealer? (Dealer swap of otherwise.) I live it the “sticks”. My closest dealer (number1) is 18.4 miles away; dealer 2 is 27.5 miles away. Neither of these is in a large city, (that is at least 60+ miles away.) I go to dealer 1; they don’t have what I want. They look for it in the system and find one close to what I want 187 miles away. They give me a price, I show them my supplier number, and he says that he won’t go get it because they will lose money and that the number is intended for buying “off the lot” or ordering new. I go to dealer 2, tell her what I want and she finds one that is only missing one option. It is 6 hours away. I haven’t told her about the number yet and I don’t know where or which dealer it is located at. Fortunately, dealer number 1 told me the city and VIN of that van and I have found it.

So, do I have to go to the dealer that physically has the van or does my local dealer HAVE to go get it for me when using these numbers?

Also, when using the DODGE site to search for a van, does anybody have a way to make it search in a larger area? (Some special link, rmbalisa?) It gets to be a pain trying to search for this van that’s 6 hours away when I don’t even know which direction to go.

Oh, Can I get a CDI number too? (Just kidding, I know you guy’s don’t have any more. But if you stumble across one...;) :shades: )

What are the rules for the dealer if they have to go get the van from another dealer?

In the past when the EC (Employee Choice) program was still running a dealer did not HAVE to sell a vehicle under the plan. If they elected to then they had to abide by the rules.

I don't work for a dealership but I'm pretty certain that they would not have to do a dealer transfer if the vehicle you were interested in was not on their lot but the locator found it elsewhere. They are making barely anything off a buyer who uses the CDI to make a purchase and they would probably lose money if they have to pay to have it transported to them.

Also, when using the DODGE site to search for a van, does anybody have a way to make it search in a larger area?

In the search option look around until you find an "Advanced Search" tab. There you can specify a search radius to look as far away as you are willing to travel.

No more CDI numbers - sorry. My suggestion that I've mentioned in the past is to look up the CDI price and ask the dealer to match it. Apparently some buyers on here have successfully done that. As always, any rebate or other price incentives are further subtracted from the CDI price for even greater savings. ;)

That’s what I thought; I was just hoping it was different. Looks like in will HAVE to be “on the road again” and go get it.

In the search option look around until you find an "Advanced Search" tab. There you can specify a search radius to look as far away as you are willing to travel.

That’s the problem, on the DODGE site; there is no option after you enter your zip code. They give you the dealers in an area that Chrysler chooses.

No more CDI numbers - sorry.

I know; I was just “piling on” with the request just like a lot of others have in the last few pages. It’s very clear (at least to me) that you do not have any more.

In the past when the EC (Employee Choice) program was still running a dealer did not HAVE to sell a vehicle under the plan.

What is the rule now though? I have a number from my work, (a supplier number) and if I was to obtain a CDI number (for some where else, not here) does a dealer HAVE to sell me the van they have on their lot or CAN they refuse?

    Hello to everyone.

I have been a long time reader of this website.

I am loking to buy a 2008 T&C, we have a growing family. Everyone has been getting great deals with the CDI codes. Does anyone have a CDI number that I could use, I will use the CDI number ASAP. Does anyone have a spare CDI number.

    I appreciate everyones input.

See below for a link to the dealer. Call them and tell them you received an e-mail with the specifics stated above. If they will honor it try to get your local dealer to match it.

    http://www.westburyjeep.com/index.htm

Thanks, srt10. I know those guys quite well actually. I was trying to negotiate a price for a Jeep over a year ago with them, but instead I went with Major Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge for the purchase.

The Selling Price of $ 21562 on a $32500 Signature Series is great in my opinion. With the reg/dmv fees and taxes on the car and the rebates, it would probably come out to $24000 OTD. It sucks that u have to pay taxes on the rebates.

BTW, they have 165 in stock. No wonder they're offerring $11k off of MSRP.
  • jl49jl49 Member Posts: 33
    2008 T & C Touring

MSRP 32,500 (this one was invoiced early, therefore was priced cheaper!)

    OTD 23,312 + tax

offered 2 years free oil changes and gas voucher

Do you think this is a good deal??? Plan on sealing the deal tomorrow. Any thoughts??

Sounds like a good deal but u should try to talk them down even further. See if u can get it under $22k

Other than looking for a CDI #... :)

Has anyone seen the removable center console? I've only seen what they call the Premium sliding center console, but one of the ones I'm looking online at and making an offer on has a removable center console. Is it that much different other than the sliding and removing?

    Thanks!

Sure there is. After you do an initial search click on the "New Search" tab. When you do that you'll see the "Advanced Search" tab, where you can enter the search radius in miles.

does a dealer HAVE to sell me the van they have on their lot or CAN they refuse?

Here's what it says in the program rules:

"The customer is responsible for selecting a participating dealer. Authorized dealers are under no obligation to participate in this program."
  • jrjcoppjrjcopp Member Posts: 1
Does anyone know if "Aged Inventory" can be determined by looking at the window stickers that popup when searching online.

Also, what is the Type L rebate referred to above?

You are 100% correct! I was skipping a few steps in my search. I was clicking on the "Up to 40% off Dodge”, selecting Grand Caravan and searching for dealers that way.
Doing it your way now gives me 1200 dealers in a 500 mile radius. Guess I'll be busy if I can't get dealer number 2 to tell me where the van is.

Authorized dealers are under no obligation to participate in this program.

I hate to hear that! I was hoping to find the van, verify that it is still at the dealer, drive there, show my number, get the rebates and drive away. Looks like I will have to also verify that the dealer will take my number for the van before I “hit the road”.

Hi, I was hoping for some help/direction as I have never bought a new car before.
My wife loves the T/C, we've leased 2 in the past 4 years, now our sales guy is saying buying is the way to go. I would like to own- as long as it lasts!! My 96 Honda Accord is at 220,000,
He offered us 22,500 for a T/C 2008 touring K package- 4.9% for 72 months ~368 a month. Nothing down. I don't have a lot to put down or trade in.
my credit is A+. I called my bank, they said they couldn't beat that rate.
Should I barter for a lower price? What is fair out there? Also what is the quality on the 2008? I am for buying a used 2006 but my wife loves the new one.
    What do people think?
    I live in Metro Detroit.
    Thanks for all the help.

I've finally done it. 2008 Town & Country Limited. Light sandstone, with Svivel, power folding seat, and a tow prep. (Really wanted the load leveling ride).
I paid $29,221 for the van. MSRP $38,595. Invoice, $35,721. They sold it to me for invoice, minus $1,500 VIP discounte, minus $5k rebate. I also bought a 7 year 100k warranty. $34k out the door. Also, got 5.9 apr. But, I'm going to refinance with my own bank anyway.
Its a really nice van we like it. We we really interested in the Odyssey Touring, but after a test drive, we went for the T&C. The honda was much firmer and much noisier on the highway.
Plus the handa doesn't offer the features we wanted. (MyGig, heated middle seats, remote start, and others.)
I looked through the owners manual about the life time powertrain warranty, and it seems to cover almost everything. There are not a lot of ifs and buts. For example, it says the transaxle case and ALL internal components are covered. That sounds good to me.
If you live in the Portland Vancouver Area I would recommend you go do Dick Hannah Chrysler. Once there, ask for Don, he's a good guy guy. But once you start talking money, ask for Les. Les was really professional, and I didn't feel like someone wanted to trick me into something. (I did get that feeling from the sales person at Handa though, no offence). Les also, made sure that everything wen't smoothly. He even stayed at the dealership until we left at 10:30 pm even though they close at 9pm.
    We are happy

I'm now the proud owner of a new 2008 Town and Country Limited stone white. Not sure if I got a good deal or not but I tried to get a good price. MSRP was $41,149 they sold me the vehicle for $31,120 area + tax. My final on the road price was $34,000 for the limited with swivel and go seating. Got the My GIG entertainment system with Navigation, Sat radio, Sat TV and 2 LCD screens in the back. I did not get some the options in the deal that I have just seen posted above like the blind spot system or the Extended warranty. I'm thinking I paid a bit too much considering that I did not get the extended warranty in my deal. What do you all think? Can I go back to the dealer and get the extended warranty added at a good price? They have already offered the ext warranty to me for $2,400 bucks. Seems high.

    Thx

    Greg

    List Price......$33090
Being Offered at......$23924 plus tax and tag.

Is this a good deal? It seems OK to me, but then again I don't know much about this kind of thing :)

Seems like a good deal, 27.5% discount off MSRP isn't too shabby. But, it doesn't hurt to try to negotiate some more. See if they can give you 30% or more off MSRP or let 23924 be what you pay OTD (includes taxes & dmv fees). It's your call.
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
    jennifer,

that is actually lower than employee pricing which is at $24383. MSRP is 33090, employee discount is $3707, $3000 cash allowance and $2000 regional bonus cash. I'd say jump on it. are you in a current lease with Chrysler? Maybe the $750 loyalty bonus is lumped into your price. That is the only thing i can think of...

I have a question: When I go to the dealer who should I talk to? The salesperson or to a manager or to ???

I was in a dealership today and the price they quoted me for a 2008 T&C touring with leather and navigation and which they said was employee pricing, was $2,000 over the CDI price and was $1,000 over the lifetime bumper to bumper warranty.

Thanks so much for your advice!!!! :)
  • dlseekdlseek Member Posts: 22
That doesn't sound right to me. It almost sounds like they forgot to apply one of the rebates.

Did you tell them you were looking for the CDI price? Did you tell them you knew what that price was?

Just send them an email with the CDI price you found from the web, and tell them you are coming in today to buy the van if they can swing that price. Same with the warranty.

I am new to NEW Car buying and was reading some posts today.
I am interested in the T&C Signature Series and have a few questions, would appreciate if somebody helps me out. Reading from the posts here indicate that the CDI numbers are not available now.
    1) Which website will provide me with CDI pricing? How do i know what is the CDI pricing?
Is CDI pricing dependent on the location, i.e. zip code?
    2) How long does the CDI pricing promotion last?
    3) How can i negotiate close to CDI pricing without having one?
    4) Are there any rebates that apply after the CDI pricing?

Sorry for so many questions, but will appreciate anybody's help, i live in the Dallas area.

    Thanks again
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
    1) check a couple pages back, i posted the link. it is not dependent on location
    2) until 9/30/08
    3) yes
    4)yes, all applicable ones
  • bocababe2bocababe2 Member Posts: 8
Well, two dealer salesmen (on the phone) have already told me that they will lose money if they sell it to me at the CDI price plus tax and tags and that they won't sell it for that price unless I have either a CDI number or a Military number.

What do you suggest I do now?

    Talk only to a manager?
    Go to more dealers?
Call the dealers first to negotiate ?
Fax my offer to all the dealers?

or ...what am I doing wrong?

Any advice is appreciated, my current 2001 Grand Caravan is falling apart and I really need to buy a new van.

    Thanks in advance!

    One more thing:
What are the current applicable rebates after the CDI Pricing? Is there any website i can go to understand what they are? Or if you can provide me with them, that will be great.
    Thanks again

Appreciate if anybody can share their prices

I doubt the manager at the same dealership where the sales person told you that they would lose money if they sold it to you at the CDI price would be of any help.

From reading some of the posts on here the last few weeks it looks like a few buyers have successfully negotiated a CDI price without actually having the number. Try a different dealership, either by fax, calling, or appearing in person. Dealers are eager to get the 2008s off their lot and it is a buyer's market right now.
  • peavspeavs Member Posts: 8
Another way to get CDI pricing currently is to have a supplier number. If you go to www.chrysleraffiliates.com, on the bottom of the page there is "Employee Pricing On Select Vehicles" link. Grand Caravan and Town & Country are "select vehicles". Good from Sept 3 - 30. I've got a Grand Caravan on order right now and hope to pick it up on Friday or Saturday. Getting the CDI price helped offset the dealers' fee to go 1300mi round trip to get the one I wanted :surprise: . Of course, you have to have a supplier number to start :shades: .

On a side note: Does anybody know of other discounts that may be available? i.e. AARP, AAA, Farm Bureau or other national discounts?
  • bocababe2bocababe2 Member Posts: 8
Thank you so much everyone for the advice. Peays, That is great info. I am able to qualify for the affiliate program so now that I know that affiliates can get EP prices, I am in heaven!!

Ironically, one of the salesmen called me today and told me he got a CDI number for me from a friend.

But the price he wants is $400 over what the EP price that is on the employee pricing website. The salesman says it is because they put a pinstripe and bug guard on all the cars, something like that. Is that allowed? Must I pay for that? :confuse:

That extra $400 doesn't include the $200 program fee, he also will charge me for that.

Also it has Sirius TV ( a $495 option) which I found out is cartoons and kids programming only, i don't want or need that. Can I get them to remove it and not pay for it?

Also, if I want to add window rain guards, iPod cable, and the bumper to bumper lifetime warranty, is there an employee price for those things as well?

    thanks again in advance :)

    LX version - Msrp - 23650

After 4500 rebate and bonus cash and 750 dealer incentive. He also did a 1900 dealer discount. This does not include tax, doc fee (289) and RMV fee (60).

The kicker is I would need to finance with CFC @ 9.5% for 6 years (I could take a shorter term if needed).

After reading past posts, "CDI" came up in a numbe of posts. Just wondering if I should persue this (CDI) or take the deal. Thanks for any input.

I read the posts here and see that folks are getting the T&C Signature series with employee pricing and without the lease rebates for around 23-24K. When i tried to shop around with the local dealers here in dallas, the best pricing i get is around 25.7 (one of the dealers said that they will arrange for the CDI number for me). When i mentioned about the pricing others are getting out of state, they said that the rebates are dependent on where you get the title done and certain rebates would not qualify here in texas. Does anybody know why is the pricing different here in dallas or texas? and what do i do to get around this problem?
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
take it...its a good deal its almost what you'd pay with a cdi number. are you coming off of a lease?

Given the economic crisis Do you think the rebates/incentives will go up in October?

Best Deal I can get so far (Tri State area) for Touring Signature with $32,995 MSRP, after $5k rebates, is $24,989, not sure if I should take this since others on here have reported 9K to 11K off.... Is this a good deal ? (This car is Dual DVD and swivel n go, No Navigation)
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
    mv08,

just for you reference, employee pricing is about $24300, cdi pricing is $24500. tell them to give it to you at the cdi price and i'd be happy. thats almost another $500 savings

    rmbalisa,

Thanks for the input....not coming off a lease...I have the grand caravan to look at....if I can get the same price with a few more options I think I may go with the caravan....I need to pull the trigger soon sine the incentives are gone on Sept. 30....anyone know if the incentives will be pulled at the end of the month? My guess would be they will keep it going based on the financial meltdown that is happening.

I am looking at a Signature Series with Premium Sound, My Gig and Backseat Sirrius.
MSRP on the sticker is $35,090
    Invoice is $32579.00
They are quoting me $27778, including ($2,500 Customer Cash and $2,000 financing rebate), plus TTL.
This is in Tulsa. Seems like people are getting much better deals elsewhere. Does anyone know what employee pricing or CDI pricing on this model, and have any ideas how I can get either price?
    Thanks!!

Is it true they expire September 30th?
  • tedebeartedebear Member Posts: 832
Yes, they expire at the end of this month.

Since it will probably be hard to find a number this late you might try looking up the CDI price and negotiating with the dealer to see if they will sell it at that price, plus any rebates. Several buyers on here have successfully done that without actually having a CDI number. It's a buyer's market right now and most dealers are willing to deal. ;)

The Employee Pricing link website is not working anymore.

So, I tried the www.chrysleraffiliates.com web site where I was able to get to the employee pricing with my affiliate number last week. but today however, using the affiliate number, they only give me the affiliate price, they won't let me see the employee price, even though affiliates can buy the cars for employee prices until Sept 30.

So... can somebody who can get into the employee pricing website do me a big favor? Please Please!!!!!

Would you put in zip code 32819 and tell me the employee price of a Chrysler 300C. The price that is showing up for the affiliates is MSRP 36,215 and the Affiliates price is 29,994. I really appreciate it. This will be a car for my husband.

    ------------------------------------- on another note -------------------------------------------------

I bought a 2008 T&C Touring last week, love it, the MSRP was 35,595, and with the advice I got here ;) , was able to buy it for 24,171 with TTL and my $3,000 "rough" 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan trade in - so it would have been 27,171 out the door without the trade in. It has My Gig, Nav, DVD, and leather. Not sure if I got a great price, but I am happy with it, the T&C van is FABULOUS!!! So much fun to drive and to use all the gadgets!

Thank you so much!!!! The EP is about $1,000 less that the Affiliate Price.

They aren't showing the inventory anymore like they did last week. Do you have any idea why?

Well I am a holdout hoping that incentives will continue into October. In light of the recent economic uncertainty I am figuring a good deal can be had during the final qtr of 2008. Currently have an TC 2005 touring with 32k, car runs fine no issues to speak of. However, if I can save 10k on a new one I look at it as an opportunity that rarely comes around.

Does anyone know if the incentives were carried over or what the sales numbers were for Sept ? I think if they are still sitting on lots of 08's, the deals could get even sweeter. Thoughts and comments welcome.......

    Thanks
  • mv08mv08 Member Posts: 5
Last month the rebates in Tri state were $3k cash and $2K Fiance for a total of $5k, we took the gamble they would increase for october and now it looks like Chrysler's website actually shows a $500 decrease ($4,500 cash, no finance)?

Do you think they will increase over the Columbus day weekend, or the second half of the month? ???? Don't see how Chrysler would increase prices when the vans are not moving off the lots...
