I know how you feel. My eyes are getting old also!!! Should have been around when I was a "double posting geek"!!!! It's nice to get a response back once in a while.
Qmeister: I wonder if Ford has a multiple CD disc changer/player that could be hooked up with your existing radio system??? I'm not positive but I believe that the Excursion, Expedition and Explorer can be ordered with that option and they certainly don't have a Cadillac ride. Whether or not your system could accept this option --- I don't know. Any way --- GOOD LUCK.
I don't know if it is the same switch assembly, but the F-150 uses a pull out function on the headlight switch for fog lamps. If it is the same switch, does anybody know if aftermarket lights could be rigged to use it?
Now I have been to Vegas in the summer time. "It's 115 degrees...but it's a dry heat"....what a crock....I burned my ga-got-chees off...... Just kidding with ya.....Happy New Year... Hey ....my first post from the bunker is Y2K compliant!!!!
murph9... bess & brutus about have it. how much weight are you towing and how much time are you towing? if you're near GCWR at high elevations for > 50% you may want to consider PSD. but even so, it's a "tough call" that probably only you can answer. my choice would probably be the PSD because there's greater leeway for future "upgrades". however; if you're only planning to keep the truck a few years then you might consider the v10 as your only serious choice. the PSD really yanks things around... but that v10 is most certainly far from being a wuss about it. take your time on the choice as it's quite difficult to change this config after the DORA confirmation.
tom18... "struggle" over there a little. sometimes this gives one the best learning tool available. all the vopc info IS posted in the faq section. it is also posted in all prior threads on this forum at one place or another. however; if you're still "struggling after a few days I'll send you a direct email reply. okay? just don't "give up" so easily if you can't resolve the thing in a few seconds. so keep up with the trying.
crazyelvis... still waiting. now beginning our 4th month (3 months at 12/30/99). the thing ought to be "at the ramp" by now as it was shipped via conrail on 12/14. the vopc's been slow about updating though, due to the holidays so will probably know more next week. we really expect that truck soon! but until it's "at the ramp" we just don't know. do know one thing, though. the dealer relies on that vopc check quite heavily. obviously they can tell us little more than the automated vopc process can once it leaves the factory. ford-diesel.com says the same thing. some people have waited up to 2 months after the build b4 they see their truck so it looks as though the delivery process is pretty much a crap shoot! we are now at 4 1/2 weeks from truck build (of 11/27). oh, well. will keep you posted.
I installed the Hella FF100 lights. They are the ones that are oval shaped and 3.5 inches high. I installed them in the bumper space above the front license plate bracket.( which I discarded since we don't use it in PA). I paid $109 for them with a $30 instant rebate at the store. normal price is $139.....newman
You can come out of the bunker now Elvis. It's safe now. I hope everybody made it. I had some tense moments there for a while. I almost ran out of food. Thank God Pizza Hut was still open.
I got the trailer pkg but the big round receiver plug fot t/t's electrical plug was not installed, all I got was the wire harness fuses ect. in a plastic bag. My question to others with trailer pkg, did your trucks come with the plug installed from factory? Thanks in advance for your response. Happy New Year everyone!!
My 2k 250 came with both big round plug and four wire flat connector mounted next to the hitch. Also got the bag of connector parts in the glove box.
To the person asking about the headlight switch, I checked my truck last night. Found that the switch on these trucks does have an extra pull out feature. You turn the headlights on and off by clicking switch left and right, but after you turn on the lights the switch can be clicked to another position, in and out. Switch will not pull out if lights are off. This appears to be a factory provision for foglights.
Happy New Year to everyone. So glad to see that Y2K didn't knock out the best forum on the WEB!
I ordered the trailer tow pkg along with a factory installed receiver.
YES - you should have a 7 pin travel trailer wire hook up ( includes brake and a charging capability for a battery system on the trailer ) along with a separate 4 pin boat trailer wire harness.
My wire harness is mounted to the left of the receiver. The wiring that is in the plastic bag is for your trailer brake actuator. There is a plug, inside the fuse panel, under the steering column, up toward the right side. Plug it in, hook up the loose wires to the actuator of your choice, put in the fuses supplied and SHIZZZAM! you're in business.
Maybe, if you didn't order the receiver, the wiring bundle could be "tucked up" under the rear bumper somewhere. Take a look and GOOD LUCK!!!
I have the receiver and wiring as part of the original order on my 99 250, but like tracyo, mine didn't come wired into a connector. It was in a bag that was in the glovebox. Maybe this is a dealer thing, and ours didn't take the extra time to put it all together for us. However, I managed and got it together myself.
Placed THE ORDER for a F250 XLT CC 4WD SWB V10 3.73ls LT265/75 tires. Looking for advice on a couple of options:
Color. Really like the gold w/black, but not available in XLT, so oreder the silver. Dealer suggested getting gold, then having black accent added after market (not necessarily by him). Any thoughts?
Sliding rear window/privacy glass. Who likes the slider and what are some benefits? Tinting requires the sliding rear window. Again, dealer said they could do the dark tinting after market for a little more than the factory price.
Cab steps. read some posts about their adequacy, just trying to decide now. This guy is confident that the order will take 8 weeks or less! Says they send in 5-6 Superduty orders per day! Nothing in writing yet. We'll see Monday when I get the paperwork.
Roof Clearance Lights. For the price, they really make the truck look good. But I'm a little concerned about moisture infiltration as mentioned in previous posts.
The dealer also indicated that the V10 production would be stepped up so the trucks would become more available. Maybe price will start to come down. Anyone interested, it looks like 3% over plus advertising and gas. Here in AZ, that's a pretty smokin deal! EVERYBODY wants this truck>
I got my truck with the hitch receiver installed from factory, But I thought that 7 pin plug should have been installed, I have not pulled my t/t yet so I have not got around to getting the plug put on nor have I installed the brake controller. I am going to call my dealer tell them I think they should put me a plug on free of charge. Also anyone got a web address where they ordered the husky mudflaps and best price anyone has found? Again thanks for any response.
I ordered my 99 SD with trailer towing pkg and receiver. It did NOT come with a 7 pin plug installed or in a bag. Just a bag of wires, fuses etc for me to install my own brake controller. I only use the 4 pin for now so it isn't a big deal with me. But I bet many people complained in 99, so they have both plugs on the '00s. I know two people with new (97 and 98) F150s that they ordered with trailer towing pkg and got only 7 pin connectors and they had to re-wire them for a 4 pin that they needed. I think when you get the trailer tow pkg, they should give both the 4 and 7 pin connectors. And it looks like maybe that is what they are doing now.
Hope everybody had fun last night! 1100 miles/3 weeks old v10 11.5 mpg with heavy right foot. Yes mine came with 7 blade RV style and 4 pin I am having to change to a 6 pin tomorrow as all my trailers are such. The factory tint is not to bad for the price, but I would like it darker on the front doors. Has anybody used the pull out switch on the headlights for driving lights? How do you access the wiring and what is the amperage limits? BTW 83 degrees in San Marcos Tx today, I got to see how good the A/C worked.
I placed my order today:) F250 SD, CC, Lariat, V10, limited slip 3.73, 5 spd manual, ESOF, captain's chairs, Badger Red clearcoat. Dealer told me wait might be on the short side because it's a five speed. Anyone believe that??
One thing to keep in mind when ordering the Trailer Tow package is that the receiver hitch does not come with it, it must be ordered as a seperate option. I beleive that the 4 pin and 7 pin connectors come with the receiver on the 2000 models. I am sure that my dealer did not install this for me. The harness for the braking system came loose in the glove box and must be installed by you, though they do provide a connector for you to plug into. The diagram is fairly straight forward.
Does anyone know where to get wire hard hat hangers that mount above the rear windows? I bought one many moons ago and have lost it over a period of time. It was handy as it kept the hard hat off the seats and the floor (for us tidy tipes).
Ordered 250 CC with two tone paint option, bright amber/black, on 12/28. Have not been able to find one with this color combination in my area. I'm sure about amber, but am concerned how black looks. Would you order this combination again now that you've got your truck or would you prefer single color-amber. Would appreciate your opinion.
Hey...anyone interested in a used bunker??? Ha ha!! I will throw in 42 gallons pistachio ice cream and 12 bags of pork rinds. What a deal!! I got my first oil change the other day. Used the 5W30 oil reccomended in the manual. Man...it seems to run MUCH better!! Smoother and quieter...maybe I'm imagining things...but it seems to run better. The oil change cost me $22 total. I thought that was a good price seeing it takes 7 quarts. I will try to get them done at the dealer...free....but I was not anywhere near and didn't feel like driving the hour + to just get the oil change. Still getting 12.5 mpg in the city....00 250 CC V10 3.73 SB Lariat.... Oh well...maybe I can sell some sucker this bunker for the year 3000.....ELVIS lives FOREVER!!!!!
You mention you ordered your 250 SD with a 3.73 and limited slip. I was under the impression that the L.S. wasn't available with the 3.73. Right or wrong?
I would definetly order the two-tone again. I have gotten nothing but good comments on the color. The 4x4 decal came in Harvest Gold, and there is a Harvest Gold pin stripe along the top of the black lower paint. It really sets it off! If I could get my hands on a digital camera, I would post the picture somewhere so you could check it out. I think I like this combination better than the Amber/Gold truck I had originally seen.
Four of my friends have 1994 to 1996 PSD's. All have had to have from 1 to all 8 fuel injectors replaced. All were under warranty. Another friend had 115k miles and had his fuel injectors rebuilt. After 15k miles they are giving him trouble again. The Ford dealer quoted him $4000 to put in new ones. Does this sound right? Isn't this a little high? Are private diesel shops much cheaper? I'm debating to buy v10 or PSD but this injector thing makes me nervous. Happy New Year!
It is my understanding that it's the exact same 5.4L engine in the F150 and the SuperDuty.
The SuperDuty has other features that give it the 8800 gvw. Heavier chassis, springs, brakes, tranny, clutch, driveline, axles, tires all contribute to the 8800 gvwr capacity.
I have a '99 250 SD CC with the trailer towing package and the camper package. Also factory installed hitch. Mine had the 4 wire plug attached to the bumper. The 7 wire harness was taped to the wiring for the 4 wire harness. I bought a 7 wire plug and bracket and welded it to the bracket for the 4 wire....Looks and works great...
Just returned from Christmas trip in our '00 CC, V-10 w/ 3.73 averaged 12.2 mpg over about 1600 miles with a high of 14.4 and a low of 11.1. We installed a cab high topper at the beginning of the trip, which doesn't appear to greatly effect mileage positively or negatively. By far the most peaceful trip we've had in a long times since the 2 kids were so comfortable in the crew cab (vs the extended cab we traveled in the last 6 years). Better go get the "break-in oil" out of it... p.s. Saw a pretty good set of personalized license plates on a SD in Nebraska--I8A RAM
I picked up my 00 f-250 automatic 5.4 December 27 and am going back to service for the second time on Monday for front hubs that won't unlock. Does anyone know the fix for this problem, the dealer seams to be a little clueless. They replaced the outer hubs last week and the first time I locked in the new hubs they never disengaged, and I had a hard time getting out of 4-low. anyone have any similar problems
Thanks, those were interesting. One guy asked the question "did Ford improve the injectors for 99 and 2000". No one responded. Does anyone out there have an answer? Would the new intercooler they added to help cool the heads give longer life to the injectors?
While the dealer is trying to get the hubs fixed. I've heard from others that if you back up 10 or 20feet after unlocking, that will unlock the hubs.. Its not a fix, but might help.
That is diesel.com , I have not finished my first cup yet. By the way, no one responed to my question about any web page where they got the best price on the husky mud flaps, I thought I remembered awhile back someone talking about getting them but I went back some and could not find anything. Thanks for Any help.
Picked up my Super 250 Lariat PSD on 12/17 and really happy with it. While I have only 900 miles on it, I couldn't help but check the mileage when I had to make about a 60 mile run. I first ran at 60 MPH/1750 RPM and got 21.2 MPG. I then ran at 65 MPH/ 1900 RPM and got 22.2 MPG. I next ran at 70 MPH/ 2000 RPM and it dropped to 17.7 MPH. Average mixed has been about 17.4 so far. I have not been running with a heavy foot because of the low mileage. For what it worth, I have A/T, 7.3 TD, LT265 tires, Limited Slip, Towing and Trailer package. Also, added tonneau cover. Fairly well loaded. Ran with the cruise on to check the mileage. I am in Florida and it is fairly flat, however, when I went over the Skyway Bridge which is long and fairly high (Ocean going ships go under it), at 60 and 70 MPH, the power was super. Didn't drop RPM's and ran like it was on flat ground. Added the Viper 550ESP alarm and works great. Has the remote start and allows you put in valet mode so you can remove the key while the truck is running. You can lock the doors and leave while the turbo cools down. If someone attempts to steal the truck, the moment the brake is touched, it shuts down. All during this time the alarm is going off. Can set the cool down for 12,24 or 60 minutes. If you get the alarm, be sure they install the diode in the system. Otherwise, you will have dead batteries withing two days... I know. Added polished stainless steel fender trim and really makes the truck look nice. When I asked about an exhaust brake, the dealer would install a Power Braker which runs off the turbo warm-up valve. Cost was $900. This is as close to dealer/manufacturer recommending an exhaust brake that I have found. If you do a search you will find many similiar brakes for as little at $250.00. Having PB installed tomorrow, will let you know how it works. Sorry to take so much space, however, I thought it may be of value to some of the readers. Lewac, hope you have yours by now.... really great vehicle. Marv
Tracyo - I bought my liners from performance products on the internet. The delivery was on time and they are even nice enough to send e-mail confirmation when your order is received. If you go to huskyliner.com you will find other options. The prices and shipping vary with each one so make sure you consider everything before you order to get the best price. If you aren't committed to the internet, check out Bass Pro Shops newest fishing catalog. The price of husky liners is almost 1/2 of the price I paid through Performance Products. Wouldn't you know it---I received the catalog after I had already ordered. If I can help with a phone number or address, let me know. I have purchased several items from them in the past and have been satisfied with the service.
Ken called us this morning to report an update. he talked with a live "one" over there at the rail head. looks like vopc's "missed" it again as they indicated a ship date of 12/14 with eta week of 12/28. the thing didn't actually ship until 12/26!... a full MONTH after the build (on ll/27). but good news. the rail head is virtually "empty"! that's because Ford wasn't building/shipping (and rail head continued working) 'nothin for 2 weeks (and our truck got "caught up" in this frikking holiday delay). The guy at the rail head said he'll be "looking for it"... we'll see. anyhow, Ken feels pretty confident about us having our hands on the thing within a week, 10 days at most. normally; I'd agree because it's only an 800 mile trip from the plant to Tampa (not even a day by rail). however; I'll believe this when I see/hear it. really need this truck now as we've been "truckless" since 12/23 (relative bought previous as Christmas gift for husband).
Finally got my SD on 12/29 and it FITS in the garage!!!! 00 250 CC short bed 4x4 Lariat V-10 auto 3.73 LS, privacy glass, rear sliding window, CD, TTT mirrors, TT package with receiver, 265 tires, white over gold, etc.
Ordered: 9/25/99 Built: week of 12/6/99 shipped: 12/10/99 Arrived in Oklahoma 12/29/99
As of today, VOPC still says my unit shipped via rail with expected delivery week of 12/25 ....
Things that have really impressed me: -It is really quiet in the cab -The radio w/CD is super quality -The ride is much better than I ever expected ... not quite as good as a couple of town cars i've had, but IT IS GOOD.
Thanks to the folks that gave me the height dimensions and to GOSSAMAR ( I think) for actually measuring his truck. As a reminder: My garage door height clearance was 80 inches exactly. The owners manual says that a 00 250 CC w/4x4 is 80.8 inches. GOSSAMAR (I think) measured his to be 80.8 ( I think) inches. ANYWAY .... I have about 3 inches to spare and my SD fits in the garage. Hard to believe that the trucks can vary in height that much ....
Got about 250 miles on it already and computer says 12.0 MPG ...... BUT .... to quote OTURNER1 ..... WHO CARES!!!!! Happy motoring until later ....
....Boy, take a few days off....100-new posts. Anyway, just completed about 1300-mile trip to central minnesota from central ill. Mileage anywhere from 11.5 to 14. Most of this was running 80-mph. Seemed to get better mileage if I kept speed around 75-mph. Coming home...had to "lock and load"...hit a 100-mile stretch in wisconsin that got about 4-inches of snow and highway crews were playing catch-up! Was fun driving by everybody at 55-mph while in 4x4 mode. For those with front end squeaks...my appointment with dealer to install new bushings is in about 2-hours....will report back later this evening as to whether this solved the problem, or truck goes back to shop!! I also got the "bag" of wiring with the trailer towing package. Have not had a need to install yet, but as stated earlier, the receiver is another option...but my 2000 did arrive with both adapters. Crazyelvis...we are suppose to get about 3-inches of snow tonight...want me to fed-ex you some????
Congratulations on your new addition....now if you could only get the tax deduction with it as well..... No problem with getting the measurements...that is what we are here for!! Glad that it does fit in the garage, just watch those PTT mirrors while going in/out of garage!! Have had a few close calls with mine if the wife doesn't get her car over enough! Keep us posted.....
marv3, enjoyed very informative post, I have been getting above 20 mpg every tank with just over 2200mi, with one tank at 21.7mpg, see my profile for truck configuration. oturner1 thanks for the info.
Putting the final touches on a sales pitch to the wife! Need advise for ordering clarification.
I've gone to KBB.COM to price out a 250SD 4x4 XLT CC 5.4L, AT, Skids, trailer package, Anti-lock brakes, Shift on fly, and a similar F150 Super Crew 4x4 XLT 5.4L as I plan to shop via the internet or order from dealer who will accept KBB / Carpoint / Edmunds invoice pricing plus $100 - $300! Interesting to note that there is only a few hundred dollars difference between the two trucks when you complete the options list! KBB invoice for the SD was $28,294 and the 150 SC was $27,898.
Can someone assist in the following ?'s:
1) Is it true that many dealers will accept an order for $100 above these invoice prices? 2) When ordering an SD XLT package, are the cab steps, rear privacy glass, rear sliding window and AM/FM CD included as standard. 3) What are the advantages/disadvantages of the limited slip axle? Do I really need one? I believe the only option I have is the 4.10 ratio due to the 5.4L engine option. 4) Do I pay the extra for anti-lock brakes? 5) What can I expect for fuel mileage for around town?
Your comments will be greatly appreciated. Also, I live in the Seattle area and a recommendation on a dealer who "wants the business" would also be appreciated.
I'm sure you'll get zillions of responses, but here's my 2 cents... 1. Yes. Many dealers will accept a $100- to $200-over invoice deal. In fact, I think anyone who pays more than $500 over is should have kept looking. 2. The items you listed are not standard. Look closely at the Edmund's info you have...If it isn't listed as standard, or it has it's own price, it's probably not an option. Your salesperson will clear any of that up when you order. 3. If you're getting the 4X4, I'd get the LS axle. 4. ABS is an option and you pay extra for it. 5. Flip back through these posts. There are a ton of comments from enthusiastic owners about their mileage, both good and bad.
I'd recommend either Billingsley Ford in Lawton OK (talk to Carl Clingenpeel), Anderson Ford (Sharon Law) in Illinois, or Fred First Ford in Spokane. They all went to $100 over invoice for me. I ended up ordering mine from Billingsley due more to how they treated a friend with his deal. I'm in North Pole Alaska and am traveling a helleva long way for a good deal. Good luck.
Okay, a couple more cents' worth. My #2 answer should say ...if it isn't listed as standard, or it has it's own price, it probably is an option.
Also, this is just my opinion but I should be safe to express it on this site... If you want a pretty truck, get the 150. But if you want a good looker that'll both work for you and intimidate the crap outta most other rigs on the road, you can't go wrong with the SD.
....For those of you with 4x4 front end squeaks, here is IMPORTANT INFORMATION. The technical bulletin is reference number: 99-16-3. The part number that is ordered is: F81Z-5586-AA(QTY-4). Installation and test drive equaled about 1-hour in the shop. In simple english....these are spring tip insulators for the front springs. Drove home, 30-miles, and thus far no squeaks. As some of you may know, the roads in ILL. are not the best in the country, so a good test was achieved in the 30-mile trek home. For DONRAVIS, ditto to northpole1's response, although I believe that cab-steps and ABS are standard on the Lariat package. I also would definately recommend the LS option for what-ever axle ration you choose. I was able to get my Y2K 4x4 XLT with almost every option except ESOF and paid just over $29,000 with $500.00 over invoice factored in. Happy shopping.....
A1: My particular dealer was able to do $100 over invoice, however demand on these trucks is high. It's my opinion that any deal less than $600 over invoice is pretty good.. ie. You should try to not pay more than 3% over invoice, as the dealer can sell every truck at 3% over invoice and make a good living! They are great trucks and worth every penny you pay for them, no matter what price you end up with!
A2: All of the items you mention ARE NOT STANDARD with XLT on the SD. (I know because I happen to have all of those on my truck).
A3: It's my opinion you will want the 4.10 gear ratio anyway. Also, limited slip is very useful and will allow you to get the most of your 4x4 adventures. 4x2 w/o limited slip = 1 wheel drive, 4x2 w/ limited slip = 2 wheel drive , 4x4 w/o limited slip = 2 wheel drive, 4x4 w/ limited slip = 3 wheel drive I think for a truck this heavy, the 3.73 might be a little tall of a gear in some terrains. (see A5 below)
A4: The SD XLT comes standard with REAR antilock only. For 4w ABS you have to pay extra.. Note, many of the dealer source books are WRONG on this issue.. I know from personal experience.
A5: From experience on this forum, folks with 4x4, CC, and AT are averaging in the 11 to 13 range for mileage.. This seems to be the same for both the 3.73 and 4.10 rear end. There have been some complaints of low mileage (10 or less) with the 5.4L CC AT 3.73 mainly from folks who do mostly local/rural/city driving. Its my theory that they may have been better served with the 4.10, which would allow the tranny to be in higher gears more and not shift as much. (again, just my opinion)
I am averaging 15.3mpg mixed driving, but my truck is very different from what you are looking at.
I'll pitch in my two cents worth and suggest the SD is a lot more capable than the supercrew, especially in the payload arena, and if the price is close, better value. I would recommend you contact Tunya Hampton at Titus Will Ford in Tacoma, she'll deal at $300 over and has good allocation. Her E-mail address is fleetexec@tituswill.com.
I guess it depends on what you want. The Supercrew should handle and ride a little smoother than the Superduty since the suspension is 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton. The Supercrew is built on the shortbed chassis, so my guess is that it will have a shorter wheel base than the Superduty Crewcab, therefore smaller turning radius. The Supercrew is probably 1,000+ pounds lighter also, so it will likely be a little quicker and get a little better acceleration. As bess mentioned, I'd opt for the 4.10 with the Superduty and 5.4L. However, with the Supercrew, you can probably get by fine with the 3.73 or 3.55. I would expect better mpg from the Supercrew since it is lighter and you can go with a taller axle ratio.
Since cost doesn't appear to be an issue, I'd recommend driving them both and seeing which one you feel the most comfortable in. If you're not doing any heavy hauling or towing that necessitates the F-250, your decision may actually come down to which one you think looks the best.
As far as price, most of us had good luck finding deals under $1,000 over invoice with the Superduty trucks despite the high demand. Many of us did better than $500 over. I expect the Supercrew to be in high demand as well, so you may have to hunt for a deal. Chances are, you will run into similar delivery delays as we've had with the Superduty and Chevy has had with the Siverado.

"It's 115 degrees...but it's a dry heat"....what a crock....I burned my ga-got-chees off......
Just kidding with ya.....Happy New Year...
Hey ....my first post from the bunker is Y2K compliant!!!!

all... have a happy & safe new year's.
But Elvis never did elaborate as to whether he retrofit his bunker door!!!!
He may be stuck in there until, God forbid, the warranty runs out on his Super Duty!!!!!
Heyyyyyyyyyy Elvis !!!!!!!!
Happy New Year everyone!!
Happy New Year!!
F250 SD, CC, Lariat, V10, limited slip 3.73, 5 spd manual, ESOF, captain's chairs, Badger Red clearcoat.
Dealer told me wait might be on the short side because it's a five speed. Anyone believe that??
looks. Would you order this combination again now that you've got your truck or would you prefer single color-amber. Would appreciate your opinion.
Right or wrong?
replaced. All were under warranty. Another friend
had 115k miles and had his fuel injectors rebuilt.
After 15k miles they are giving him trouble again. The Ford dealer quoted him $4000 to put in new ones. Does this sound right? Isn't this a little high? Are private diesel shops much cheaper? I'm debating to buy v10 or PSD but this
injector thing makes me nervous. Happy New Year!
The SuperDuty has other features that give it the 8800 gvw. Heavier chassis, springs, brakes, tranny, clutch, driveline, axles, tires all contribute to the 8800 gvwr capacity.
Mac
By far the most peaceful trip we've had in a long times since the 2 kids were so comfortable in the crew cab (vs the extended cab we traveled in the last 6 years).
Better go get the "break-in oil" out of it...
p.s.
Saw a pretty good set of personalized license plates on a SD in Nebraska--I8A RAM
and 2000". No one responded. Does anyone out there
have an answer? Would the new intercooler they
added to help cool the heads give longer life to the injectors?
Its not a fix, but might help.

Ordered: 9/25/99
Built: week of 12/6/99
shipped: 12/10/99
Arrived in Oklahoma 12/29/99
As of today, VOPC still says my unit shipped via rail with expected delivery week of 12/25 ....
Things that have really impressed me:
-It is really quiet in the cab
-The radio w/CD is super quality
-The ride is much better than I ever expected ... not quite as good as a couple of town cars i've had, but IT IS GOOD.
No problem with getting the measurements...that is what we are here for!! Glad that it does fit in the garage, just watch those PTT mirrors while going in/out of garage!! Have had a few close calls with mine if the wife doesn't get her car over enough! Keep us posted.....
oturner1 thanks for the info.
Good luck.
Also, this is just my opinion but I should be safe to express it on this site... If you want a pretty truck, get the 150. But if you want a good looker that'll both work for you and intimidate the crap outta most other rigs on the road, you can't go wrong with the SD.
My particular dealer was able to do $100 over invoice, however demand on these trucks is high.
4x2 w/o limited slip = 1 wheel drive,
4x2 w/ limited slip = 2 wheel drive ,
4x4 w/o limited slip = 2 wheel drive,
4x4 w/ limited slip = 3 wheel drive
I think for a truck this heavy, the 3.73 might be a little tall of a gear in some terrains.
Y2K F250 XLT SC 4x2 5.4L, 5sp, 4.10LS
