    beast -
i got some of the zaino bros. stuff. works awesome. no swirl marks on the wife's black altima. can't wait to test it out on my new silverado! not too expensive and there's no way you'll spend 7 hours doing it unless you put three coats on! i'd say about half the effort of conventional wax. 60 degrees and sunny here today in columbia, sc.

Just thought I would check into the Chevy topic and see what was up. Even though I admit that GM makes a fine truck, I could not get over the soap opera dialic over the last 100 posts. You boys sound more pathetic than a sincere drunk.
How much and how far has Dunkel been distrbuted?

Well, almost. Sorry I won't be around to wish everyone a Happy New Year tomorrow, but I am going to grill some 1-1/2" Ribeye steaks for everyone at the plant. These steaks have been marinating (for 24 hrs) in a secret sauce that my wife and I make. I will serve baked potatoes, baked beans, fresh green salad, many kinds of desserts, iced tea, Coke products, etc. I hope that your mouths are watering. I will smoke the steaks in red oak and pecan wood that is seasoned for a little over one year. If I sound like I know what I'm doing, I do. Anyway, that is how my wife and I will celebrate the New Year since we will not shut down for the holidays.

But, on to the subject at hand: I'm glad to hear that most of you guys and gals have gotten your Silverado/Tahoe/Yukon/GM funmobiles. Sounds like you all have had a lot of fun in the anticipation and the actual reception of the vehicle(s). I would love to be in your shoes. I have previously expressed my wishes on a Chevy either in the form of one of the abovementioned, however, I have not done so yet due to my own cheap demise.

I invested $10,000 of play money in DoubleClick stock in Oct. 1998 and now I have enough in my play account to purchase a new Chevy vehicle and still have my orignial investment (due to three stock splits). I'm going to get a truck or SUV, but I will not be in a hurry. I will at least double my money in the year 2000 (another split scheduled next month). The good Lord has blessed me with a keen sense of picking good stocks and sticking to them.

But anyway, ya'll have done something that I just haven't gotten the nerve to do: go on and get something that you truly want. Well, I must drive my little ole Nissan truck indefinitely because my job is 30 miles away and a V-8 would cost me at least half a truck note in gas. But it's worth it.

Thanks for letting me vent. Buenos anos nueve, amigos. Until we greet again.

bud, come on down you got Dell 18K employees, IBM 9K employees, Motorola 13K employees, Samsung 7K, AMD 5K and I'm sure I left a few out. This is why
Austin is now known as Silicon Hills. Expensive?? I quess that depends on where your coming from. I had the opportunity to move back to Colorado (Denver area), wow, what a shock more expensive than here, I decided to stay, like the weather and Austin is such a nice city.

werking, 7hrs was including a couple of breaks, rolling up the hose, dinner, etc, it was not hard to put on or take off, I just took my time.

f220swift, I quess this means this will be your last post then? Ya should'a read all the posts, cause ya missed some of the best parts of the soap opera. Somewhere around post 245 ryanbab woke up in the morning after a night out with the boys only to find a tattoo of a Tundra on his chest !!
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
AHHHHHH Anyone know a good tattoo removal guy? Hey man i would never be that drunk trust me. NEVER! Oh my god tomorrow i am going to the dealership they have an indigo blue 2000 Z71 TAHOE!!!!! I drove by and seen it its so freaking awesome.

Don't go into the dealer!! That's Momma bears SUV. Baby bear is the S10 and the Suburban is Pappa Bear. You did say your name was Ryan right? Stick with a man's SUV or a man's truck.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
The tahoes look awesome but im sticking with the silverado. S-10s are to small for me. Not comfortable in it.

Is there no one out there who can answer my post # 397? Silverado IV topic and not one single person knows the answer? You mean I have to go to the dealer for the answer, please, someone spare me this indignity.

As of 5:30 PM CDT. on Thursday Dec 30, 1999, I DROVE my new 2000 Silverado LS 4th DOOR out of my dealerships lot and took it home. For those that have been waiting, it is truly worth it. Thank God it is over.
  • bluebeastbluebeast Member Posts: 258
Read post #397, I thought I made that clear in #480, but I quess some folks are a little slow.
  • bluebeastbluebeast Member Posts: 258
Keep us posted on whether or not the 4th door causes any problems.

P.S. what color did ya end up with?
P.S.S. and ya better tell us if you have those plastic wheel guards cause Ryanbab will.
  • z176z176 Member Posts: 19
Thanks for responding. I figured as long as we have all been waiting, someone would have jumped on this post right away. Any way I have a '00 LS 4 Door with Light Pewter Ext and Med. Grey Custom interior. NO Plastic wheel guards for me. Sorry Ryan, but I will have the full length fiberglas boards (like on my '99), bug shield, vent visors, Line-X spray in,front window tint, Leer or LoPro bed cap, and my Skeeter sticker on the back window.
Have only about 50 miles on it, but so far I am very impressed with how well the doors fit, operate, etc. VERY LITTLE road noise, and the firm ride suspension is great. Had the smooth ride on the '99 and this rides sooo much better.
Having had a '99 Silvebrato, I have really been putting this one through some road tests, and nothing as of yet, but I will keep you posted.
It was well worth 14 months of *&%#@* (headaches)to get this truck.

2x4 or 4x4? I've thought about trading in my 99 Silverado for the 4 dr, but the one I have runs so well and I've only had a couple of minor problems, so for now I'm keeping it.

Hey, I see your in Texas!! You mentioned your gonna put on a bug shield, I have a new (on 1 month) MPC, smoke color with a bunch of xtra clips, rivets, grommets, clear bumpons, etc I'll sell ya. Half price. E-mail me and we'll work out the details if your interested.

The reason your one of the first to get a 4 door is cause your in the State of truck owners!!

    Hmmm..

Post 397 of Silverado IV...(which is what you mentioned)..is about an antenna.

    THIS is Silverado V

....Therefore we see who the slow one is now..

    ...Blue.

    - Happy New year.

  • z176z176 Member Posts: 19
It is a 2wd, the offer on the bug shield sounds good, however, I just walked back in from the Custom Shop, and it is all paid for and will be installed next week. Thanks anyway.
I am from Port Arthur, what part of Texas are you from?
  • bluebeastbluebeast Member Posts: 258
timmy, ya past the test! I thought for sure you wouldn't figure out that the post was in Silverado V. There's hope for ya, now, did ya check #397 in Silverado V?

My exhaust put on my '99 Z-71

I just put a new muffler and dualed it outta that.

All I have to say is... DAMN...sounds awesome

but it could be somewhat loud to some people who dont like the sound

I put a 50 series flowmaster on it with dual chrome tips coming outta the back

    looks GREAT!!!!!

Im pretty surprised, because i thought that i would lose some power and maybe some gas mileage but it seems to be pretty much the same, if fact i might have gained some power in the lower rpms, but not a real noticeable amount, but im pretty happy
  • leavyleavy Member Posts: 34
How about a .wav file of your new semi-dual exhaust sound?
  • leathal02leathal02 Member Posts: 114
see what I can do tomorrow

Ive got a handheld recorder, so i'll see how good it works!

It sounds alright when just punchin the gas in park, but it sounds the best when its under a load

I'll keep you posted if i can do this tomorrow
  • scoon8scoon8 Member Posts: 24
Which 50 Series did you get ? 4" or 5" thickness?
Is inside the cab resonance tolerable ?
  • dmickdmick Member Posts: 28
Does anyone know if the wheel on the spare tire on an LS 3/4 ton should be the same as the base wheel . I noticed the wheel is plain steel not the chrome on the other 4 wheels. Seems to me if they want you to rotate tires they should have all the wheels the same.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
2500 LT...with the polished forged aluminum wheels...

My spare is a plain steel rim.

I think all spares are plain rims..

    - Tim
  • leathal02leathal02 Member Posts: 114
Im not sure what thickness it really is...

The inside resonance is pretty noticeable at for say....1500 to 2500 rpms, when the truck is starting out, because it is under some kinda load, but when it is coasting at these rpms it is just barely noticeable, more or less on the highway at 70mph it is perfect

i'll try and see if i can get a wav of it and put it on my web page and link it to here or something

Good question. I ordered the cell phone wiring too even though I don't own a cell phone. I put it in the "you never know" class and for $25 who cares. I found one end of the harness, it goes to the connector/relay box on the driver's side firewall under the dash. I know it provides switched 12V because I used it for something else but don't know the rest. I'm sure the answer to your dash indicator light question is no. Beyond that I'm not sure what the wiring does other than provide power, nor do I know where the other end of the cable goes. Does anyone know?
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
Way way back at #435 you asked about the Catch All mats. I do have them and I like them very much. They do what the company says they do and look good as well. Buy a set, at least for the front, I think you'll be satisfied. I bought mine on line at

    http://www.truckautoaccessories.com/rd/

they are nice to deal with and had a better price than most ($69 front only). You can see the mats at www.niftyproducts.com.

Ryan, you asked about the pewter on pewter flare
    pictures. I have one at

    http://members.home.com/vofm/chevy1.jpg

The tree growing out of my roof is a custom option so don't even ask!
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Thanks man. But i have decided on an indigo blue truck with black flares I Finally seen one yesterday going to wok but it was a gmc. Ive seen a few pewter trucks / pewter flares the past few days upclose and dont care for it to much. Hey vince dont you know your supposed to put the tree in the bed thats what its there for. It might keep the inside a little cleaner if you put that thing in the back too. Haha i know it wasnt in your truck just thought i would harrass you. You have a very nice truck there vince.

What has happened to the post lately??? It has died but hey im back ill liven it up.

All the spares per the brochures are "steel" wheels, GM does'nt want you rotating the spare I guess, you pay for the option but only get four of the optional wheels, go figure !

What GM needs to do is come up with a way to preserve the spare tire rims, my spare on my 88 was never used and when I did need it the rim was so badly rusted it was horrible. Any thoughts from anyone on this ???

    Ray T.

Hey Ryan how was your New Years ?
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
In the bed...instead of under the truck..

Very rarely was it in the way....and it stayed damn nice for 11 years.....

Not brand new...but better than under the truck?

I still have the new one under there...but may bring it out soon.

On a nasty day...when the rear or front is in the freezing snow...and the truck is lower....where do you want your tire??......Possibly frozen under the truck?...perhaps rusted in place??.....or right in the bed...

    Good Luck

    - Tim
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
The steel spare isnt an option its standard. I think if you have a cap the best place for the spare is inside the bed if you dont have some sort of lid or cap then it might not be there for long if its a nice spare.

My new years was pretty good.
  • mdw1000mdw1000 Member Posts: 171
I put wax on my spare per a friend's recommendation. Didn't wipe it off, just left the wax on there. Supposedly, it will help keep it from rusting, but we'll see.
  • mdw1000mdw1000 Member Posts: 171
on the rim of the spare, not the tire itself!
  • rwagonerrwagoner Member Posts: 338
I got the "live in California" option with my '91 S-10. The spare wheel never rusted; looked brand new the day I sold it. The truck, nit the spare. Well, the spare went with the truck ...

I got the same option with my Silverado. Hope it works as well as last time.

the places I went....malls..concerts...downtown detroit...I never had a problem with it being stolen.

It's not the most attractive thing to steal.

if it makes you feel better....chain it to the hook inside the bed (tie down).

Also the under body design does have a flaw....sometimes they DO fall out!

Every so often you see a new one on the side of the road...

Mine came off one time while off roading. Came down hard on a nasty tree stump...and the blow was enough to let it loose somehow. Also crushed the rocker panel...but oh well....call it a Love mark!

    LOL

Any one know of a pic of a 1/2 or 3/4 ton silverado with a two tone paint job of indigo blue for the upper color and the lower color being sunset gold. Knew you can get them in the 1999 models and I've only seen a few. Just curious what it looks like.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
and it looks real good....especially with gold flares...

I seen Black with Gold the other day for the first time...that was nice also.....better than silver..

My ultimate combo would be dark carmine Red with Gold bottom and flares....but some Suit thinks LT's should be only 1 color...

    So maybe in 2 years??

Went to the dealer and had a huge discussion on flares and the supplier deal. Seen a nice blue/pewter truck w/pewter flares.
Heres what he told me: Black,Blue, White, Carmine all come with black flares unless UNLESS they are added by service dept which can be the same color as the truck. ALl pewter gold and grey trucks come with color of truck flares. All 2 tone trucks come with the bottom color. Theres the scoop on the flares. Finally i met a nice salesman. Cant buy there wont accept and order for the supplier deal which sucks you have to take off the lot i guess dealership can specify these rules.

    Ryan
  • kantonkanton Member Posts: 142
The dealer you talked to does not know what he is talking about, as most salesmen don't. You can get any color truck with the same flare color to match from the factory. The dealer does not have to add them on after. Was at my local dealer the other day and there was the truck unloading three new Silverados, one blue, one red, and one pewter; they all had color matching flares.

Saw it. Not impressed. The prototype that will be on display next week looks like a 1.2:1 scale ratio Toyota Tundra with a gold bowtie in the beveled grill taken off of a S-10 pickup. GM is pleading with the public to wait until 2001 before buying the new SUV/pickup hybrid. At the same time, Ford rolls out its Sport Trac, Blackwood, and the F150 SuperCrew this month at showrooms (with the Adrenalin to follow later this year). I do not understand why GM takes sooooooo long to get concept vehicles to market. They started on this project in February 1996 and four years later they have a prototype (they also spent over 2 billion dollars on the project). They are pleading with consumers to wait at least a year plus another 4 - 6 months before any roll off the assembly lines. My congratulations go to Candy Chatawanich and Tony Posawatz for finally completing this phase of the project. Now finish it!

Believe me, it is nothing but warmed over bread.

By the way, doesn't an Avalanche always go downhill?
  • denn777denn777 Member Posts: 52
The Chev web site shows only the following colors for the flares: pewter, char. grey, sunset gold, meadow green, and onyx black (satin black). All other solid color trucks (other than those show here) get the onyx black flares. Two tone trucks get the color on the bottom.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
I have been to countless dealerships have never seen a blue or red truck with body color ones. I dont know im just saying what ive seen and told i am probably worng no biggie

    Ryan,

a lot of dealers will only accept the supplier discount as in stock only. some are picky on certain cars..

    Corvair!!

My dad had one of those!.....I thought it was cool...course I was 3 then......

  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
should either be gold/silver to match the 2 tone bottom....or the same color as the body..

I don't like black on white...red..or blue trucks

    Sorry ryan

...(but if I had to have one...Blue would be it??)

I saw a local 2000 LT white with the Pewter bottom and flares and it looked great. While at the dealers the other day I was on the system trying to build a 2000 LT the same way and as mentioned with the LT you can only get it in a solid color, no two tone available (Remember when two tone was for the high end vehicles only). I mentioned the 2000 I had seen and they told me that the owner had the body shop spray the bottom and flares Pewter. It seems like the GM owners are more color coordinated than the suits at GM. While I'm not a Ford person that is the one thing I will give them you can get great color combinations and 'RUNNING BOARDS" from the factory on your truck. As of today it's been over 1 year for my factory GM urethane running boards and they still are on back order fore brackets, and God knows what else. You have to hand it to the competition when they introduce a truck and the buyer can get the aftermarket accessories when they buy the truck.

On the Avalanche, I agree with the comments wait before you buy.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
SLT...(like an LT) is available in two tone..

    Go figure...

I really don't like the GMC look though..

    Chevy will come around....perhaps?...

GM is trying to make vehicles that come with the aftermarket goodies from the factory. The Z71 tahoe was a first...and others are supposed to follow.
The Putco Pipeline boards I have are actually installed from GM on trucks in canada...why not USA guys??

As said before....they drag behind on some stuff...but they are still the best truck for me..

Course they are also ahead on a lot of things too.

    oh well
