That sounds more like an Arctic village. I just figured you were in Nowheresville, Michigan. I hope you enjoy the snow. I think I have shoveled enough for a lifetime. I am wishing I was in Hawaii or Florida right about now. Our gas is well over 3 bucks now. Hate to think about the next Propane fill up. That will be several hundred I am sure.
You guys are too good. There is a bit of snow on the ground now, but we got a house for cheap and we're two blocks from the beach. My mom-in-law is in good health but getting older and we wanted to spend some time near her. Now that the leaves have fallen, we can see Lake Superior from our front door foyer.
Meanwhile gas dropped since yesterday; down to $3.05 where we usually get it. Diesel is running $3.27.
I love it up there but have never been except in summer months. The lovely pictures of Sault Ste Marie in winter with only rooftops showing and such have kept me out otherwise.

Heh, you were traveling I think when I started dropping hints. Check out #9093. Right now Boise is way colder and has more snow that we do. We're warmer than Seattle too!
Haven't been driving the Outback much but now that there's some snow around, we took it on the road Saturday. Had to fill up out of town - only $2.93 for the ethanol laced stuff. Held less than 8 gallons.
I have a friend who is driving cross country right now, called me today and said he bought some ethanol laced gas in Nebraska or something, and his car (03 Accord V6) got much worse mileage. Don't know how accurate he is.
This reminds me of friends in Port Dover, ON who were telling me how i should live there and mentioned that Port Dover is actually south of Boston. I did have to mention that absolutely no ones lives in Boston for the climate!

We were ten degrees or so warmer than Boise today. Regular heat wave; snow was melting. Sounds like the party may be over tomorrow. We made some reservations for Puerto Rico today for February. Always wanted to go and we'll need a break for sure by then. (Where's Gagrice? We penciled in a couple of nights in NYC too heading out. :P ).
One nice thing about the current mild temps is that it helps the gas mileage.
Puerto Rico Yes, NYC not a chance. My little brother has his boat in PR until he gets a slip in St Thomas. Plans to buy a home and maybe move his business from Tampa. Better taxes. Not sure how much gas costs there. But who cares living in paradise?
Let's see.. Puerto Rico or the UP in February.... Gee, that's a toughie.....
I could definitely live in the VI. Yeah, gas costs a fortune but as Gary says, who cares?
I was in Tortola a few years ago in a funky Mitsubishi Montero rental. Filled it once which was more than it needed for a week. Got used to driving up cliffs around switchbacks in a hurry. My wife wasn't the least bit interested in taking the wheel! Left side of teh road but with the wheel on the left, too!

Same thing is happening here. We're down maybe a nickle from last week.
iluv - that Montero was ancient! Some of the rental places on the islands (well, I was only one one island) are a riot. none of the regular companies. The agency, such as it was, was a shack. you stood outdoors while they did paperwork in the shack. It was a well used vehicle that had started life in Miami.

If you're in the Michigan area still, here in the midwest Marathon/Speedway area, they raise prices when bad weather is approaching. I guess because they don't want to have to delivery fuel to the stations when it's severe weather. :grin
lol, maybe that's it. Yeah, I'm living in the UP now and we did get about 4" or more overnight. Nothing like Minneapolis though. I thought it was coming down hard just a few minutes ago until I looked out to the back yard and it was clear. Just the wind whipping stuff around out my office window.
I need to go buy a couple of gallons and see if the snowblower I picked up last month actually works. Knowing me and gas engines, probably not.
Our cheapest gas is ARCO at $3.05. Our cheapest Diesel is Valero at $3.00. We have RUG for as high as $4.15 per gallon. Merry Christmas from the oil speculators. Or should I say the Oil Grinch?
I can still score some RUG for $2.92 at Maverick and Sinclair. The snow and ice is pert-near gone. Just some piles of snow the plows stuck together in the store parking lots. It's getting in to the 40's and 50's during the day and 30's at night, now. In a few short days, though, snow is coming back.
the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS is not AWD but does a great job handling the ice and snow with it's FWD getup. I am going to just stick with the Lancer and quit looking around so much for another rig. What I have is good.
Still $2.92/gal for RUG at Maverick and Sinclair here.
We've been cruising around a lot of the UP and parts of WI the last week and it doesn't seem to much matter where you go. Regular is running $3.19 most places. Funny how they all stick together, even 100 miles apart. That's up another nickel for those keeping score.
Well, we did pass one station today advertising non-ethanol laced fuel. That gas was $3.27 for regular.
About a week ago, the price near my kid's college (Juniata, Huntingdon, PA) dropped a dime to $3.09. Not so here in Happy Valley, which waited until yesterday to drop to $3.17

Funny how some stations bump up against this limit, then lower their prices a penny or two.
