    That sounds more like an Arctic village. I just figured you were in Nowheresville, Michigan. I hope you enjoy the snow. I think I have shoveled enough for a lifetime. I am wishing I was in Hawaii or Florida right about now. Our gas is well over 3 bucks now. Hate to think about the next Propane fill up. That will be several hundred I am sure.

    You guys are too good. There is a bit of snow on the ground now, but we got a house for cheap and we're two blocks from the beach. My mom-in-law is in good health but getting older and we wanted to spend some time near her. Now that the leaves have fallen, we can see Lake Superior from our front door foyer.

    Meanwhile gas dropped since yesterday; down to $3.05 where we usually get it. Diesel is running $3.27.

    Oh, sweet!

    I love it up there but have never been except in summer months. The lovely pictures of Sault Ste Marie in winter with only rooftops showing and such have kept me out otherwise.

    only rooftops showing

    I hate stairs but that's why we got a two story house. :D
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
    Post pictures when the snow is up to the second story. :blush:

    Heh, you were traveling I think when I started dropping hints. Check out #9093. Right now Boise is way colder and has more snow that we do. We're warmer than Seattle too!
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
    Snow in the forecast here tonight too

    Pass the gravy... $2.99 for 87
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
    Haven't been driving the Outback much but now that there's some snow around, we took it on the road Saturday. Had to fill up out of town - only $2.93 for the ethanol laced stuff. Held less than 8 gallons.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
    I have a friend who is driving cross country right now, called me today and said he bought some ethanol laced gas in Nebraska or something, and his car (03 Accord V6) got much worse mileage. Don't know how accurate he is.

    $2.99 and holding here in Happy Valley. I'm heading down to western MD this afternoon to scout out prices there :shades:

    Better weather than Boise.... Hmmmmm...

    This reminds me of friends in Port Dover, ON who were telling me how i should live there and mentioned that Port Dover is actually south of Boston. I did have to mention that absolutely no ones lives in Boston for the climate!

    We were ten degrees or so warmer than Boise today. Regular heat wave; snow was melting. Sounds like the party may be over tomorrow. We made some reservations for Puerto Rico today for February. Always wanted to go and we'll need a break for sure by then. (Where's Gagrice? We penciled in a couple of nights in NYC too heading out. :P ).

    One nice thing about the current mild temps is that it helps the gas mileage.
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
    Puerto Rico Yes, NYC not a chance. My little brother has his boat in PR until he gets a slip in St Thomas. Plans to buy a home and maybe move his business from Tampa. Better taxes. Not sure how much gas costs there. But who cares living in paradise?
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
    Let's see.. Puerto Rico or the UP in February.... Gee, that's a toughie.....

    I could definitely live in the VI. Yeah, gas costs a fortune but as Gary says, who cares?

    I was in Tortola a few years ago in a funky Mitsubishi Montero rental. Filled it once which was more than it needed for a week. Got used to driving up cliffs around switchbacks in a hurry. My wife wasn't the least bit interested in taking the wheel! Left side of teh road but with the wheel on the left, too!

    RUG is holding at about $2.92/gal at the Maverick station here in Elko, NV.

    Fuel prices fell four cents at the Sunoco at Rhawn and Verree in NE Philly...

    RUG = $2.95
    Plus = $3.05
    Ultra = $3.15

    It's even two cents less across the board a few miles west in Rockledge, PA.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
    Same thing is happening here. We're down maybe a nickle from last week.

    iluv - that Montero was ancient! Some of the rental places on the islands (well, I was only one one island) are a riot. none of the regular companies. The agency, such as it was, was a shack. you stood outdoors while they did paperwork in the shack. It was a well used vehicle that had started life in Miami.

    which just somehow brought to mind why old '55 Chevy's are so popular in Cuba. But they get them from where...Miami? Are we on to something here?

    Seems like a common price around the UP of MI currently. Diesel is around $3.27 or so.
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
    The local Shell station went up twice this week. Now at $3.29.
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
    Came across I-80 headed towards NYC yesterday and filled up for $2.99. Back in Happy Valley we're locked on $3.09
  • smarty666smarty666 Member Posts: 1,503
    Shell Stations around here right now are about this:

    87: $2.89
    89: $3.09
    93: $3.19
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
    Not sure just when it popped, but regular went from $2.99 to $3.09 "overnight". Diesel is $3.27.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,675
    If you're in the Michigan area still, here in the midwest Marathon/Speedway area, they raise prices when bad weather is approaching. I guess because they don't want to have to delivery fuel to the stations when it's severe weather. :grin

    lol, maybe that's it. Yeah, I'm living in the UP now and we did get about 4" or more overnight. Nothing like Minneapolis though. I thought it was coming down hard just a few minutes ago until I looked out to the back yard and it was clear. Just the wind whipping stuff around out my office window.

    I need to go buy a couple of gallons and see if the snowblower I picked up last month actually works. Knowing me and gas engines, probably not.
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
    Our cheapest gas is ARCO at $3.05. Our cheapest Diesel is Valero at $3.00. We have RUG for as high as $4.15 per gallon. Merry Christmas from the oil speculators. Or should I say the Oil Grinch?
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
    We had that 10 cent pop here too. It seems to have rolled back on NE PA, but not here
  • iluvmysephia1iluvmysephia1 Member Posts: 7,709
    I can still score some RUG for $2.92 at Maverick and Sinclair. The snow and ice is pert-near gone. Just some piles of snow the plows stuck together in the store parking lots. It's getting in to the 40's and 50's during the day and 30's at night, now. In a few short days, though, snow is coming back. :(

    How does the Mitsu like the slippery roads? Ready for an AWD? Or is your EVO an AWD model?
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
    Somebody slipped up and :shades: we had a 2 cent drop at the pumps this morning :shades:
  • iluvmysephia1iluvmysephia1 Member Posts: 7,709
    the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS is not AWD but does a great job handling the ice and snow with it's FWD getup. I am going to just stick with the Lancer and quit looking around so much for another rig. What I have is good.

    Still $2.92/gal for RUG at Maverick and Sinclair here.

    Our Costco dropped back two cents to $3.07 our local Shell went up 10 cents to $3.35 for RUG.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
    I'll see your six cent Coke and lower you a penny.....

    Saw a $2.99.9 regular in NJ. Thank goodness it didn't hit $3....

    We've been cruising around a lot of the UP and parts of WI the last week and it doesn't seem to much matter where you go. Regular is running $3.19 most places. Funny how they all stick together, even 100 miles apart. That's up another nickel for those keeping score.

    Well, we did pass one station today advertising non-ethanol laced fuel. That gas was $3.27 for regular.
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
    $3.19

    Local supply and demand...uh huh
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
    Heck, where you are 100 miles is like down the block for us.

    $2.89 and hanging on....

    About a week ago, the price near my kid's college (Juniata, Huntingdon, PA) dropped a dime to $3.09. Not so here in Happy Valley, which waited until yesterday to drop to $3.17
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
    Sunoco at Rising Sun and Longshore in NE Philly:

    RUG = $3.11
    Plus = $3.21
    Ultra = $3.31

    Juaniata? I read something about doubling over there. Four times at last count. Hope the gas prices don't double though! :)

    Double-doubling in fact... shoulda been 6 times, but official scorers are watching different games at times it seems

    BTW, you can watch those games on the Juniata website... live video streaming :P

    Maybe I'll walk in front of the camera and wave on Friday!

    This is the ceiling for RUG around here. Whether it's a plateau or a peak will soon be evident.

    Funny how some stations bump up against this limit, then lower their prices a penny or two.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
    Yeah, the Lukoil between my house and work is at $2.999. At least it's not $3..... :mad:
