on the way home from work. I was stunned, it is very similar to a BMW 5 series in size and shape.

The shape is similar, IMO the G8 is actually better looking than the E60 5-series but the Pontiac is a size and a half larger, too big for a proper sport sedan, closer in size to a 7-series.

Saw my first IS-F on the road. It's noticeable...but for similar money the insane little C63 might tempt me more...
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
but I bet the owner wishes it were: Porsche Boxster with a huge billowing cloud of gray smoke pouring out of the back end.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,400
Today I spotted a new style Vibe, and a new concave grille Maserati coupe.

I also saw the most hideous E63 in the world. I have seen it around a couple times, but finally was able to get a pic with the phone. No, this photo is not doctored, the color really is this bad. I guess princess wanted a fast car, and daddy has a lot more money than sense or taste.

It looks like a bad Chinese knockoff. I bet she totals it before the end of the year.

Is this from one of those Sixteen birthday parties on MTV that they give for the over-nurtured girls with wealthy parents?

Saw a silver 2009 Forester, like ours except ours is Blue.

They look a lot taller now.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,400
I've seen 2 C30s in the past 24 hours...as many as I have seen in the past 2 months
  • gussguss Member Posts: 1,167
I saw my first C30 on the road last week. I did not like it as much as I thought I would after the auto show. Maybe it was a lower trim level.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,400
They look pretty different in low and high spec. I saw a highline model that even had fancy wheels.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Saw a truck delivering about half a dozen Aveos to the local small-time Chevy dealer which usually sells Silverados, Tahoes, and Impalas.

On the road today.. in red.. Stunning!

Some gimmicky stuff, though... LED DRLs, which looked like someone had hung XMAS lights around the headlights...

LED DRLs are part of the new Audi design language. It is going to be on most of the mid to high line car.

Hopefully, they'll evolve into a better look than what I saw.. :surprise:

Saw a new G* at the GM dealer next to us. It was only a V6 but it was nicely priced at $37k CDN

Yeesh. It goes for about $27k on this side of the border, and it's not like shipping from Australia to Canada is that much farther.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,400
I've seen about 20 new Corollas in the past couple days...must be some big attraction.

Also my second G8...a high model I assume as it had a lot of cladding.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Still odd looking to me. Looks like a gigantic hatchback.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
this morning on the way to work: a new charcoal C63 AMG. Very aggressive exhaust note.

Also a new 2009 SL in black. I'm not sure I like the new headlight design of it, from afar it looks like a SLK, up close the front, and the side fender cladding (vents behind front wheels) make it look tacky, especially on black color.

Damn, I still haven't seen a C63. My indy MB mechanic said a guy who bought one stopped by to show it off, so there's one around. I suspect they aren't sitting on the lots very long. I've heard the exhaust on youtube, it's sick...in a good way of course.

I'm not sold on the SL facelift either. It seems to be change for the sake of change.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
Out of the recent Benzes I never liked the CLS front end nor the new SL. Just really unusual headlight shape.

I too don't like change for the sake of change, but I guess it's cheaper to redo the front end rather than the whole car.

Spotted a dark red metallic Chrysler Crossfire convertible last night.

I've also seen a X6. I think it's a silly looking car but the looks are growing on me.

Anyone seen any Challengers on the road yet? A week ago some Chrysler head office guys pulled up in one to our dealership. But we haven't seen any land in our store yet.

The Crossfire died a few years back, then it came back for a year before dying again. :confuse:
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,400
What's the big new open Rolls called, the one with the strange A-pillar and suicide doors? Is it just a Phantom convertible?

I actually saw one on the road today. It's massive, almost cartoonish compared to a normal car. I wish I could have snapped a pic, but I was out for a walk.
  • gussguss Member Posts: 1,167
Very nice.....but it is od to see a Jaguar that does not look like a Jaguar. It was very similar to Lexus styling.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It's out of production, along with the PT Cruiser convertible.

They had way too many convertibles competing against each other - the PT, the Sebring, and the Crossfire, all in the same showroom!

Saw a black 2009 Forester driving on Route 50 while on the way to the beach on Friday. They're becoming abundant rather quickly.

"Saw a black 2009 Forester driving on Route 50 while on the way to the beach on Friday. They're becoming abundant rather quickly. "

Should become even more popular - the Forester just got rated CR's top small CUV.

I just got my issue last night, haven't read the article yet.

    That surely won't hurt.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,150
On the used car lot of a local dealer group... We went by on our way to dinner tonight.. and my son said: "There is a Challenger there next to that Viper"..

No way... why would they have that down here on their used lot?

Sure enough, on the way home... there it is.. :surprise:

    yes, for now.
recently came out with their newest track version, too. The ACR. It did very well (performance-wise) in a comparo this month vs a 911 Turbo, Z06, and GTR.

I went in for an oil change at the dealer and they had 2 of these. I get the feeling they will be the next Aztec. I give Ford credit for thinking outside the box, but they should have come up with something other than a box.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
I've seen one as well (Ford Flex) and read a recent Motor Trend review on it. MT says that Ford hopes it will be their next 85 Taurus, or 65 Mustang (meaning a sales hit), but I think, it's just another run of the mill crossover. I'm not too fond of the looks. I like the Pacifica better imo as it's the same class of car.

Rogue and an Altima coupe this weekend.
  • gussguss Member Posts: 1,167
I saw the MT article also and was wondering if it would look better in person. It may be space efficient, but the simulated woody look has got to go. I give it 3 years before they restyle it.

on the way to work today. Kinda looks like the old Charger on steroids.
  • explorerx4explorerx4 Member Posts: 20,702
it was orange. it didn't look as big as i thought it would. at first glance i didn't think it was bigger than a mustang. it seemed kind of wide but that was always the style. i like it, although i prefer mustangs.

Only this one was bright yellow with ads all over it.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,100
"bright yellow with ads all over it. "

I bet they'll sell lots of smarts for advertising, just like Scion did with the xB. I saw an all-black smart last week - kinda of missed the point, seems to me. No ones going to think it's 'bad', and it lost lots of visibility in all black. :confuse:
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,400
Today's new sightings - a Ford Flex and a MB McLaren SLR roadster (on the same street I saw the RR Phantom convertible, no less)
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
There's a lot of companies in Vancouver using the smart as a promo vehicle. We had the smart for about 3 - 4 years nowin Canada and I think it does make a good promotional vehicle as it's different so it stands out, good on gas (we had the diesel here) and it's inexpensive to buy.

This morning I saw another new style SL and a new Pilot.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Spotted a green Zebra of all things tonight.

Like the smart car I saw the other day, this one was being used as an ad car. With 4 doors, it looks more practical than a smart. Until you wanted to go more than 25 miles at 40 mph anyway.

    ...off-white Ford Edge.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,668
I noticed a couple of off-white/cream colors Lincoln MKX's. Maybe that color is making a comeback which would be OK with me since there are few cars that look good in the boring Frigidaire White that is ubiquitous now.

I'm seeing Honda Fits everywhere, 7 out of 10 are silver or grey. 6 Months ago I'd see one a month, now I'm seeing one or two every day.

It's probaly sell even better if it didn't have a stupid name. :P
