Is the vibration problem everyone is talking about the one where the truck on a freeway with cement expansion joints acts like a rocking horse bouncing front to back ? This problem was in my 1995 truck as well as my 2000. Also does anyone else have the problem of the AC being on while recirc mode is on with the ac button off ?
The problem seems to be both the rack & pinion and the frame. More seriously the frame, as even with the revised rack and control arms, the problem isn't solved. Gm went to rack and pinion as I am told for better road feel, better response and For them, less cost. They were trying to get these 1/2 tons to be more car-like in steering.
Tiredof... those Generals aren't going to help, I went through 2 sets, now running Michelin's,(only 3000 miles on truck), still got the vibe blues. Hope your parking the truck in the dealership's garage to keep the consec. days in shop running!
lalexman-the problem isn't front to rear as it really deals with side to side vibes in the steering wheel/front end of truck.
Here's the latest from San Antonio Texas and Gunn Chevrolet. I finally took my 00 2WD "Shakerado" manufactured 9/99 in to Gunn chevy and listed what I thought was wrong with the truck. I have the 65-70 mile an hour shake and the bumpy road sounds like my passenger seat is gonna come unbolted problem. I took it it and the shop foreman drove my truck for the second time with the EVA machine. He confirmed for the second time that the tires and rims were "perfect" in his words. This is the third set of tires and these are Michelin LTX/ATs. He confirmed the seat shake problem and he said (for the second time) there's nothing he can do. There's no fix and Chevy is aware of the problem. So I posed this question to him: "What am I supposed to do in the mean time?" No answer. We discussed the TSB fix and I told him I really feel I don't have a steering problem. I think I have a poorly designed frame problem. I'm so sick of the poor ride of this truck and getting beat up when I tow my boat for any signigicant distance. I tried to get help from the customer assistance center and they are useless. They should be called customer annoyance center. I get physically sick of the thought of having to buy another Chevy truck and or fighting Chevy for a buy back. If they buy it back do I have to buy another Chevy or can I take my money and run? Help!!! Obyone, you cetainly seem to be on top of this; can you offer any advice to this poor soul? I'm just so sick of this!!! Anyone else have thoughts too? I'd certainly appreciate them.
If you proceed with the buyback, you most definitely do not have to buy another Chevy. If your truck qualifies for the TSB, I would have it done. From what I've observed on previous buyback attempts is that the dealer is usually given one last chance to correct the listed problems unless it is safety related. This being the case, you must exhaust all options leaving the dealer and GM no way out. If the thought of proceeding with buyback doesn't suit your nature, you might consider trading in your truck for a Ford.....
