Bigmike5. You could be right. So today I drove it with the air cond/heat control on off. No compressor. But it still does it for 5-30 seconds at a time.
Use a grinding wheel of some sort to grind off the top tabs that are used to afix it to the grille. Then carefully reshape the top 1/3 or so of the whole bracket to match the contour of the bumper facia - BELOW the grille opening. Takes time but it is worth it if you need a front plate. Then mark and drill small pilot holes in the facia (I know it hurts!) and screw it into place.
you have to turn the wiper lever to start the auto rain senser. i guess if you have the auto rain senser turned off and tuen the wiper lever, it will keep going whereas if the auto is on, it will only go when theres water on the windshield
Today I realized that the gauges on my new 300C are a kind of silver color, not the white as on my 2001 300C. All the reviews I've read said the car has white gauges. Am I the only one?
Michaelg1--NVBanker is correct. The little fan runs irrespective of whether the A/C is on. So you may be able to hear it after you open a door but before you even start the car.
Honestly I've bought two vehicles now and I live in ohio where they require you to have that front license plate... and oh wait I still don't have mine on... when I do the negotiations I told the dealorships that if there logo or the front license plates where mounted I wouldn't take the car... why should they really care... not there job to inforce the law and they aren't affected whether they put those front plates on or not. now granted I don't have a 300 "yet" being the key word I do plan on using my uncles family discount to purchase one before winter arives and once again I'll demand that those front plates not be put on or drilled.... dealers drill them when the cars arrive meaning they come from the factory with out those holes (or at least thats how it was when I worked as a car washer for a summer at mercedes and cadillac). anyways if your pulled over for those plates (which is a rare occurance) I simply say they fell off last night and I'm waiting for a new mounting bracket from the dealorship been drivin that way for 7 years and haven't had a problem with it... so its really nothing of importance... plus i figure that when your pulled over to begin with what plates are they lookin at oh wait the back ones so it don't matter... enjoy and have a wonderful day (ps wish me luck with getting one of the C soon I dont' want AWD so I'm hoping they'll break a deal easier)
Sunday I was looking at a 300C at a local dealer. It looked darned nice in the Lava Red - far nicer than I had expected from the color chip in the brochure. When I sat in it, however, I had the distinct feeling that the steering wheel was not perpendicular to my body. The right side was closer to me by 1/4" to maybe 1/2". I showed my wife and the salesman, and they could easily see it from outside. It seems like a minor thing, but made the entire seating position feel wrong. I then sat in the Touring next to it and it was the same. Lastly, I checked a Magnum SXT on the lot, and it too was not straight. I don't recall noticing this on the Chryslers or Dodges I drove several weeks back, at another dealer. Has anyone else noticed this? Sometimes cars are just designed that way, but I'd sure like to think that it was a quirk of that dealer's setup or something.
By the way, the Hemi is definitely the way to go for maximum fun.
Just got our 300C. Very impressed with the car. After 50 miles on the odometer my wife complained that maybe the license plate was loose on the back of the car, rattled out back. Not the case. Sounded like the rear of the car had some loose parts. Immediately stopped by my dealer and made a tech go for a ride to duplicate the problem....I was worried that it might not happen for him. To my surprise and also to his the car made a horrible noise in addition to the rear end rattle. Hard to describe. Kind of sound like a jet was giving us a flyby. Scared the hell out of the tech. He grabbed the seat and told me to turn around and get this car off the road. Its now day 2 and I just got a phone call from service. Evidently they think it is the tranny? Chrysler wants the transmission sent back to Detroit immediately. Unbolt and shipped overnight, don't touch! Going to overnight a new transmission for my car. From what I can gather, the guys in Detroit are freaking out. Might be a major problem with the transmissions behind the hemi. Won't have my car till the weekend from what they tell me. Since I signed on the dotted line its been in the shop more than my garage. I owned a Benz before this and was a little scared of Chrysler. Hope this isn't tails of what is to come. Don't get me wrong, this car is worth every penny if it runs. That is to be seen. I will keep you posted.
Just got my 300c yesterday. I LOVE it! I did notice a couple of small scratches in the lacquer on the driver's door handle. It has the walnut wood trim package. Does anybody have some ideas on what I could maybe buff these out with?
After about 1200 miles on my Magnum RT I noticed an annoying rattle coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle, sounded like something was loose. I took it into the dealer to have them look at it, and they said the clip holding the trim on had cracked. They were able to order a new piece and put it on when it came in (a couple days later). This might be the same rattling you've been hearing. Let us know what happens with that transmission, I'm hoping not to have anything major like that with mine, but you never know. So far the only other things I've seen are the overhead map lights, one of mine burnt out in the first week (another owner from the same dealer had both of his go out a couple days apart also within the first couple weeks), and the clip to hold my sun visor in place broke. Yet another easy/inexpensive fix, but also something that probably shouldn't have happened within the first month of ownership.
Chrysler definitely ought to be getting plenty of feedback from the service techs on these little things. I suppose that's the price of getting a new model car.
Still waiting on the transmission. Called service today and they are going to put a trace on it and get back with me. I should hold the current tranny for ransom. I guess they want it back in Detroit like no other. Whats it worth to them? Just kidding. Anyway its not looking like I'm going to have the car for this holiday weekend. Its not any fault of the dealership that I can see but I am getting a little frustrated, irritated, disgusted, etc. Should I be entitled to any type of compensation for this or am I just overreacting. I have been very cool to everyone so far. Its just that I ordered the car in April (friends and family discount), nobody would sell one off the floor for that price. Waited almost 5 months. My benz lease was up 2 months ago and I let that go back thinking it would be in any day. Ended up driving a friends "extra" car for the past 2 months. Meanwhile all of my friends, relatives, co-workers knew that I was getting this kick butt bentley looking ride. Just as I tell everyone I have it, I don't, it's in the shop. A little embarrassing at the same time. Had to get that off my shoulders. Any comments?
You should have one heck of a nice loaner car from the dealer through all of this! As long as they provide you with the loaner car, that is probably about all you can force them to do. Now, if it were me, I would ask for some Mopar accessories thrown in for the hassle. Splash guards, slush mats, Sirrius radio if you don't already have it, etc. Go to the Chrysler web site for some accessory ideas.
There should have been modified instructions on one of the cards that came with the manual. I can't remember if it was a yellow or green card. If you still have problems, let me know and I can check my glovebox.
After driving home from a neighboring town in my 300C with fewer than 800 miles I noticed something strange. The highway trip was 50 miles and I used the cruise control at 68mph. The radio was off all the way. The air was on low automatic. After shutting the engine off I noticed that the radio & climate control area of the dash were extremely hot. I could even feel heat radiating from the CD slot. And yet, the car's hood was cool to the touch. Is this strange or am I worrying needlessly?
I am hearing something simular, especially when I floor it I feel a rumble in the back wheels. I had the tires rebalanced but still hear it. I am taking it in tomorrow.
I hope its not the tranny. They don't even have the old transmission out yet and Chrysler wants to pick it up tomorrow. It has been sitting in the service department for 8 days now and no one knows where the new transmission is. I am not convinced that the transmission is the problem but I am not schooled in the art of mechanics so I will leave that to those who are. My patients are running thin! I have been told by more than one person to get an attorney involved just in case. I really don't want a mess. I will post when things change.
While washing the car the other day, I noticed some hairline cracks in one of the foglight lenses. Today, I noticed that the other foglight is cracked. Neither of them appear to have been impacted by anything, and I was wondering if anyone else has observed this? I use the lights often, and I am wondering if the lenses can handle the heat...
My neighboor just got a 300c and his beveled frame that holds the radio in is bulging. I also looked at mine and also see it starting to happen. You can push in on the center part of the frame and you can see where it's start to bulge. It also becomes hot..
I am looking into getting a new car and the Touring edition Chrysler 300 is on my list. However, I am a bit concerned with long term reliability since its a brand new model (and also I have heard bad things about Chrysler). If anyone could let me know how the car has driven, problems if any, etc I would be most appreciative.
You were right. Drove 150 miles today with the radio on and it was VERY hot only where the radio lights were. But boy, is it hot at night with all the lights on.
I only have 300 miles on my C but have not noticed any heat from radio lights. I have the nav system. I had a Buick Park Ave Ultra that had radio and temperature controls on the steering wheel and these were always very warm. Felt good in winter but not in summer. Wife has C out of town but I will check for heat when she returns. I sure miss those sunvisor extensions on the Park Ave. Only other problem we have had is brake light is on when we haven't used parking brake. Pulling brake release turns it off.
I am new to the forum, and have many different problems with the car, but before I return to the dealer for service, I am curious if anyone else is having the same problems. The airbag lights will stay on past the initial startup, and the chimes will rechime to remind me that the lights are lit. Then normally they will go out within 20-30 seconds, but whenever I fill up with gas, they will stay on until I begin to drive down the road(stay on for maybe 3 minutes).Airbag lights tied to getting gas?(This is a normal occurrence when filling the tank)To top it all off, the lo fuel light will not illuminate with a near empty tank, unless I stop, and turn off the car, then the light will come on. Not very helpful! Seems to have a few electronic gremlins that I am not used to since trading in my '02 Acura TL Type-S. Love the car, but these are only a few of the problems. Any of this familiar to anyone?
I have noticed that when pushing the A/C button after the lights have been on a while, it gets VERY hot. I also had the parking brake light come on a couple of times but realized that I must have hit it slightly with my foot when getting in or out of the car. Pulling the brake release was it.
Which airbag light are you talking about? If its the passenger airbag light then your sensor may need to be calibrated or it might be working properly...If there is a small package or something on the seat then the airbag will shut off and remain off until the package is removed. You should've gotten a card explaining how the sensor works.? If you are talking about the airbag warning light on the main part of the dash (where the speedometer is) I would get this checked out right away. I can't comment on the fuel light because I never let my tank get below a 1/4 tank.
It is both airbag lights, and they will stay lit, and extinguish, one after the other. There isnt ever anything on the seat, and it doesnt seem to matter even if there is a passenger. The fuel light should come on at approx 1/8 tank, which it does if you turn the car off, and then on with 1/8 tank...wont exactly alert you while driving. The airbag lights never come on again once they go out, until the car is restarted the next time.
Based on your reply and what I have heard from my other forums, people have had to have the air bag sensor either re-calibrated or replaced. I would take it to the dealer.
Sounds a lot like an 89 New Yorker I once owned. It had continual and irreversible electrical gremlins that could just never be rectified. I eventually dumped it, and my next Chrysler product, was my 96 Caravan, which I'm happy to report, does not have these problems.
Two weeks ago the local Chrysler dealer had a 300C in black in stock so I took a test drive. I was very impressed with the large interior, the exterior styling, the smooth shifting automatic, and the power.
The thing that keeps me from buying this particular car is that it had a rattle coming from the passenger side dashboard. I went in to deal on the car just to see what kind of deal they are making on these cars. They wanted MSRP with an additional $249 for dealer documentation fee plus a title fee.
When I started to walk out of the dealer the sales manager came in to ask me what he can do to get me to buy it today. I told him that it has a rattle on the passenger side dashboard, and when he looked at the salesman the salesman confirmed this problem. The sales manager did not say that he would have the service department fix this - he simply watched me walk out of his dealership.
Are these rattles a common problem with these new 300Cs? Can anybody tell me if your 300 has any rattles?
I want to buy a new 300C but Chrysler's history with their quality is what really scares me. I am currently driving a Honda Accord and I have just given it it's first brake job at 68,000 miles and I am happy with Honda quality and value in spite of a small rattle coming from the Honda in dash 6 CD stereo.
If this 300C is an unusually good Chrysler product then I want to trade in for it. It is by far the best rear wheel drive muscle car for the money at this time. Nobody else is selling anything like this at this price.
Can anybody tell me if your 300 has that 99% of the problems are centered around the 300C. I have a 300 Limited on order. Anyone have any bad or good experiences for that model
My airbag light came on when I stepped on the gas pedal from a stop.. It came on and chimed. Nothing in front passenger seat. The dealer recab the system and so far it hasn't come on again.
what I have found is the left side of the ashtray simply lifts out of the ashtray. I don't smoke so I pull it out and am using the now expanded area as a storage tray. So, you open it, and then pull out the left small box area. The whole unit does not remove.

Has anyone figured this out? Is there an alternate location for the front plate?
Thanks.
The number I believe is 1802704

Tomorrow I'll be driving 150 miles round trip during daylight. I'll see what happens.
Thanks for your imput.
