I brought mine to a local dealer this morning. Not where I purchased mine cause that was 35 miles away. anyways, I waited 45 minutes to have it repaired. The technician said it was not an easy job. he had to take the hooks off, and then somehow take off the whole side panel, then he heated the gas lid door with a heat gun I suppose. he said he had to be careful cause of the proximity of the gas tank. so I'm glad mine is taken care of. I hope this helps all of you. before you go, call the body shop first cause they may require an appointment, do not even talk to the service department.
also, I can not believe they are going to stop building these sport tracs. we are all ready in the next model year, I cant believe they are going to start building 2002's
it just may be that the plant is closing for 2 weeks for their summer vacation, then the entire plant will start working on all 2001's models

Hello everybody. I ordered a st last Monday and they said it will take about 8 to 10 weeks. I ordered from a very small dealer in South Carolina. I hope the rumor about a line shut down is just a rumor. Surely they wouldn't leave someone hanging, especially after selling my 99 Crown Vic. maybe I better hang on to it till I know for sure. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

    jab1964,
I guess I jumped the gun by inferring that the next run of STs would be 2002 models. Ford wouldn't be able to sell them until Jan 1, 2001 if that were the case. All my dealer said was that there would be a temporary production shutdown & the next run would be unchanged. I asked if the 2002 would be different & he said no. When they'll change over the model year is anybody's guess.

I have about 6500 miles on my 4 x2 today - loaded with everything. The gas cap door slightly touches the inside edge and I also have the shimmy at low speed to the point of stalling on me. So far, I've been getting 18 to 19 mpg around town and just drove 500 miles on the interstate in just 7 hours and got an avg of 24 mpg with the tailgate up. I was able to cruise at 80 mph (at times up to 90 to pass) for almost 3 hours with no problems. One thing, my gas gauge will drop down ½ a tank in the first 100 miles, than slowly drop to "E" over the next 300 miles. I put the gauge down on the red around 380 miles and still have 4 gals in the tank. My ST will get sluggish on steep 20 MPH mountain roads in OD, just turn it off...no problem. I don't and won't be towing nor off road roaming, so the V6, 4x2 is more than I need. With the price of gas, why a V8? I got my ST because that's what I needed, the best of both worlds in an SUV and pickup. I wish Ford had two things GM has, day time running lights (DRL) which I'll install on my ST and customer service. Ford CS really, really sucks and I let them know it every chance I get. I would like to read more from ones who have the miles and put the ST to the test.

We've had our ST for just a little over 2 weeks and my husband drives it to work M-F (about 23 miles one-way). Anyway, we've been getting abut 19 MPG and his average speed into the city is 60 MPH. Not too bad and that's with the tailgate up.

As for Ford changing the ST within the year, I doubt it. Normally, major changes do not occur with a new vehicle until years later UNLESS there are big problems. Isn't the average for big changes every 5 years? I can see them maybe adding a few small changes/enhancements but otherwise I don't see it happening. Besides, aren't you ST owners THRILLED with your new vehicles? I know that we are.

    Moonroof Leak, Gas Cap Rubbing

I finally got my ST last week, Thursday. Over the last two days, this area experienced heavy rainfall and the plastic liner above the rear seat, behind the driver began to leak. An earlier post described how the dealer resolved the problem. I believe it was around post # 370.

I ordered my Sport Trac February 19 with the tonneau cover and waited till May 11 to cancel the cover. To this date my dealership, Tomball Ford, still doesn't have a VIN number. What is the problem here. I've been waiting since February and getting very frustrated with the whole deal of waiting. Is there an e-mail to the plant that I can send to someone to find out what the hold up is?

Ordered mine in March. Lied to by salesman, told May 1st with cover for build date. New salesman told still on hold for cover. Cancelled cover then. Got build date in 2-3 weeks. Now I have VIN # and have been told it is built and waiting for shipment. Where is Tomball Ford?...Wisconsin? Name sounds very familiar. My suggestion is go to another dealership and I don't think Ford reads this site to see we are complaining about the same things over and over again.

Explorer Sport Trac brand manager returned my call, placed at 1:30pm today, at 2:10 pm. His name is Ed Molchany and he works in Dearborn, Mi. He left a voicemail because my cell did not get a signal while I was at work. I called to ask him about the tonneau covers because my dealer said dealer cost was $910 on a $1112 cover. He said they will begin production of the covers for the factory the end of next month(July). He said the end of next week they will be sending coupons to sport trac owners that ordered vehicles before mid-July, so they can order the tonneau covers by credit card for $590, yes $590. We would have to let Ford know what dealer we want to work with. He also said that Ford will take care of the installation at no charge to the consumer and that he hopes this makes the deal that much easier. I have saved the voice mail, but I am not sure if their is any way to get it to a WAV file without significant degredation. Any questions give me an e-mail bobkunkle@hotmail.com

I would like to offer this suggestion. Write Mr. Jaques Nasser a nice letter and explain your situation. I promise you this will bring your situation to a rapid boil. If there has been a screw up, it will be remedied. Just remember "stuff rolls down hill," You can find his address
on the Ford home page, I believe.

LAP (Louisville Assembly Plant) is still producing
ST. I believe that what your sales people are calling a stop in production is Ford's July shutdown. For two weeks in July all Ford plants shut down. This is for maintenece and major repairs. Ford does this every year.

    See ya,

    Greenwade,

WOW! You must be so aggravated at this point. I know that I was and we ordered our ST back on February 28th w/out the tonneau (but with just about everything else) and just took delivery a little over two weeks ago. I would ask to speak with the general manager at this point. I don't know of any email for the plant. There has got to be someone who can give you an answer and perhaps you can get something from the GM. You must feel totally disgusted at this point. I would push your dealer to give you something extra for being so patient and waiting so long. In fact, a year of free oil changes, tire rotation, etc. may help. But then again, if you've been waiting as long as you have, no number of oil changes is going to make you happy until you receive that ST (which, by the way, you are going to REALLY love when you do get it). Show them this bulletin board and all of the folks who ordered their ST's and have already taken delivery. How do they explain that?

I wish I had better words of wisdom other than that. Although I am not you, I did experience similar frustrations waiting for delivery which was supposed to take 6-8 weeks but turned into something like 12 weeks. Hang in there and good luck to you!

I've been thinking about getting some step bars for my ST and wondered if any of you ST owners had purchased any aftermarket step bars and if so what kind and how did they look? For those of you that have the Explorer step bars that you can get from the dealer/manufacturer, do you recommend these over the aftermarket step bars in terms of better quality and looks? Any ST's I've seen with step bars have only been those sold by the dealer i.e. the Explorer step bars, no aftermarket bars.

I've got the grill guard (by WAAG) that's black, and the ST Explorer step bars I've seen are only gray to match the lower molding that's on the ST. Don't want to get too many color variations since my ST is Island Blue.

Any and all input is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks, Bootscoot

With apologies to regular readers that have seen this before ... but anyone have suggestions regarding a Class-I trailer hitch (is that the correct term for the 2 inch square plug?). Is this something that can be ordered and installed by a layman? Don't need it immediately but would like to get it done now before the innevitable need comes up. Thanks as always.

Just to let the new folks know...I ordered a 4x2 with sport, convenience groups, cargo cage, deep wedgewood blue..on May 10th. Received VIN on May 17. Received build date on May 24 of between June 12-19th (they're building my ST as we speak!!!). Called Ford Customer Service yesturday--Got delivery date of July 3 thru 10. Everything is right on schedule. Asked CS if there was any chance it would arrive sooner---he said He just reads off the screen--but that it was the second request on that VIN number..guess my dealer is doing some checking too. I put a call in to them..but the sales person I deal with won't be in till noon. I really hope Ford does read this..maybe they'll take care of the shimmy and the gas tank rub This Week!!!

Bootscoot--I like the grey...but I ordered the sport group and will have the grey step bars..I also have the grafite interior and think it will look cool....I will have the deep wedgewood blue...but am considering getting the bug guard and the soft tonneau---which I believe will both be black...but I don't think that will be to much, although my ST will be a darker shade and will blend better--still, If I were you I'd go with the factory. You said it yourself--they will match your molding.

RE:Greenwade:I have also heard all the ford plants have a 2 week shut down in July...from what I understand all production is stopped, and even if orders are still being taken..they will have to add extra time on. I have had great success with the Customer Service giving me dates--I would call them or get on to your dealer. A few other writers here got tired of waiting and went to other dealers or found one somewhere and got the dealers to trade...a few options..hope that helps.

My ST came in yesterday and I picked it up last night. It had 9 miles on it. It's a great truck. It is really comfortable and quiet inside. Here at work, people have heard me talk about this truck for 3 months, and now that they see it, they also are impressed.

I can see where the gas cap cover is going to rub. I have already warned the dealer ship about this. I haven't noticed the low speed shimmy yet. I am just in heaven now that it's here.
  • mljohnmljohn Member Posts: 9
Can anyone tell me if their headliner has a plastic moulding covering the front edge where it meets the windshield? Mine seems to be either hanging down with no moulding or has an unfinished edge exposed.
My ST has the shimmy and the gas door rub?
  • greenwadegreenwade Member Posts: 24
I sent a letter to the Louisville plant two weeks ago complaining about the order and asking when the truck will be made. I also sent an overnight letter to the CEO of Ford,Jacque Nasser last Wednesday and there has been no response from either one of them. The truck was ordered from Tomball Ford, Texas, just outside the city limits of Houston. The dealer has been very nice and doesn't understand what the problem is at the plant. He also mentioned that i will have to pay full price for the tonneau cover because it's now considered as a part. For anyone that ordered a tonneau cover for the F150's, Ford is offering coupons for the initial price.

Thanks again Craig for your suggestion in writing to the CEO. I already did that and hope that something will happen soon.

i ordered a soft top tonneau yesterday and found it to be on back order. probably as a result of the lack of hard tops. i waited to see when they were going to deliver the st before i ordered the top but it looks like that idea bit me in the butt.

my sport trac was ordered 5/2 and as of last week it's on the way to the dealership which is in cheney wa. the difference in cost between the dealers in sw washington and the one in cheney was around $650. for that amount, i don't mind paying $75 for a flight to spokane and taking a nice leisurely trip back to the vancouver, wa area.

i have already alerted the dealership to fix the gas door rub and power steering shimmy before i pick it up. here's hoping.....

The source of the dates I've been given for the build date of the tonneau & my ST are my dealer & Ford CS.
Per the Thursday's report from my dealer & today's from Ford CS, the build date of my ST WITH the cover is 6/19. The tonneau's availability date to the parts counter was not indicated. I'm hopeful that we'll both, and anyone else waiting for their orders, be reporting joyful news within the next few weeks.

The summer 2000 issue of Open Road has a good review of the ST including performance stats etc. Check it our if you haven't already.
  • craig002craig002 Member Posts: 32
I did not hear back from Mr. Nasser directly, but did receive at least two phone calls from Ford, and the Dealer was contacted as well. They really do not like customer feed back to higher levels. So what else is new.
  • rjkunklerjkunkle Member Posts: 74
I spoke to Ed Molchany, brand manager, today with other questions. He said they are stopping any production of the Mandarin Gold the end of next month, and replacing it with silver. He said it is a question of numbers ordered and how easy it will be to resell the vehicle in future years. There is a commodities hold on the sport package because of a shortage of wheels. He said when they do the paint change they will also allow the dealers to order the high console(rear air) with a cloth interior. He also said marketing has brought the option of possibly putting vinyl/padding of the doors so there is not so much plastic and a little more luxury.
  • davidi4davidi4 Member Posts: 2
Mine had a build date of 2/4/00, was an Island Blue, cloth, fully-loaded (except the hard cover, which was promised and I was lied to about availablity). A week after I got it, the fuel pump was going out and the power steering shimmy started. Every piece of plastic inside has broken off or fallen out, the rear door window glass was not bolted on, and the dealership has had it most of the time trying to fix everything. I loved the concept, the vehicle was great when it ran properly, but I want to warn people away from them for now!

A list of problems I have had with my ST:
    1. hard starting and stalling - fuel pump failure
    2. heavy vibation when turning steering wheel at low speeds - fixed several times, fix only lasted 24hrs, supposed to be related to 16" wheels and pully size on PS pump (the dealership service manager told me he had seen this on Eddie Bauer units for over 2 yrs)
    3. plastic accents break/fall off - notepad clip, rear setbelt mount covers, armrest,etc...
    4. firewall leaking
    5. starter dragging
    6. AC vaccuum vent making loud bangs when change settings
    7. electrical - runs at almost 14VDC most of the time - repeatedly turned off my celphone and caused problems with other accessories
    8. fuel gage - put in 16gal at empty, shows 1/2, then 100mi later shows F, some times get 22.5gal into it (lists as holding 20.8???) some times get 280mi range, sometimes 420mi, never get better that 20mpg, usually 14mpg or less
    9. rear windows really slow to roll up - due to the fact that the factory didn't bother to tighten the bolts holding the glass to the actuator arms.
    10. If there is ANY moisture on the roof, you can expect it to come in the rear sliding window if you have it open - this is a design oversight, not a defect per se. Also would have been nice if the rear window worked like the rest - sometimes 1/2 way up is preferred to vent or full down.

I'll never own another Explorer series.

BTW - Ford has been difficult to deal with, and I don't really trust my dealership, but they are finally trying to do the right thing by moving me into a new SuperCrew Lariat with all of the options I was supposed to have with the ST. My biggest beef in all of this is that I could never make contact with anyone at Ford corporate.

The SportTrac is probably a great vehicle, and I was willing to take a risk in a like for like replacement, but the dealer couldn't even get one with the same options without custom ordering it.

I hope the SuperCrew, as its big brother, with fit the concept as well as the ST did for my needs, and I expect less problems, as it is more an F-150 with wider rear doors than the ST was an explorer with a bed tacked on...

and if you were wondering - I am a loyal Ford customer/fan - the SuperCrew with be my 6th Ford, 3rd F-150. I wouldn't be caught dead driving a Chevy.

Sounds like you got a lemon cuz your the first to report most of those problems but,

Just curious, someone reported a service bulletin that requires replacing the Power steering hose. Do you know was that ever done to your ST.

Do you go to the same gas station every time because it sounds like they have one of those gizmos installed that rip you off. The reason I say that is because you indicated you got 22.5 gallons into a 20.5 gallon tank.

I saw a very interesting story on TV about reprogrammed computerized gas pumps. They are very sneaky about it too. They have key fobs that turn on and off the cheat in case the state inspectors show up. And the pumps are program not to cheat anything less than 6 gallons of gas. Thats because the inspectors use 5 gallon cans most of the time to check the pumps accuracy. It will always pump 5 gallons correctly but it will skim you from 6+.

I can't see ANY way but being cheated that you could drive to a gas station and still fit 2+ extra gallons in it, filler pipe included.

As far as the electrical system is concerned 13.8 VDC is normal charging voltage. Im not sure what you used to measure the output but if its off .2VDC thats not much. I can't believe your electronics were upset by .2VDC

Good luck with your super crew. I was told at the auto show the new super crew will have the same rear window as the ST so get your order in now if you don't like that window.

FYI (rb125) - This post stated that the manual transmission is having all kinds of problems. How recent is this information? I've read the bulletin that was on BlueOvalNews which mentioned some problems, but that was back in February. Also, it was my understanding that Mazda and Ford were working on the R4 from the start - 1998. Anybody have any concrete info? I hate automatics...
  • beard1beard1 Member Posts: 15
does anyone know the number of the power steering service bulletin that is referred to in a few of the st posts, or is this just a guess that there is one?
  • caltraccaltrac Member Posts: 4
I bought my new ST about three weeks ago. It's a white 4X4 with all the options the dealer could let me order (and the factory install at that time)... and there's the rub. Apparently Ford was so hot to get this vehicle to market, it failed (miserably) to support promised and advertised options in their marketing brochures with parts ordering info and prices at the dealerships.

Anyone remember (or try to order) the $590 hard tonneau cover depicted in the brochure (and discussed in the owners manual!)? I sure do. With money literally burning a hole in my pocket for that ( and many other options) I was told for that and numerous other accessories, sorry, we can't sell it to you "Ford doesn't have that in the parts system".

Today I got a call back from my dealer informing me that Ford has published the parts number and price and can now accept orders for the hard tonneau cover for a whopping $1034!... nearly twice as much (as is currently listed at the FORD website). This is the most flagrant act of price gouging I have heard of outside of a german car factory. Needless to say, even the dealer's Part Dept rep was ashamed at the price. ( I suppose Ford might have a separate engine in that tonneau cover. That might begin to account for the incredibly rediculous price). At that price all I can say is Roll-top... here I come.

The vehicle is indeed comfortable, well appointed, handles nicely and is truly fun to operate. As many have noted, it is a nearly perfectly executed design for the hybrid SUV/pickup and unless you plan on using it for real work (get an F-150 Supercrew for that!), no other hybrid even comes close for ride and comfort. The 4.0L 6cyl is adequate.

Having read numerous reviews noting the high cabin noise in the SportTrac (due to the large side mirrors, roof rack, etc), I was prepared to accept a bit of noise. I was unprepared however for an irritating ever-present whistling at highway speeds. I'm not sure if this noise is coming from the roof rack, forward edge of the bed, drain holes in the bed or the cargo cage. I would be interested in reading other owners' observations about this noise. When I take my ST in for its 1st service, I plan on mentioning this to see if it can be isolated and if there is anything that can be done to correct it. Who knows... maybe that $1034 tonneau cover is the fix...LOL ;^)

Bottom line, except for the irritations above, I'm darn happy with my ST. As an owner of seven Ford Trucks, SUV's and cars, it's disappointing to see the company adopting Jaguar-like pricing policies for it's Ford Truck options and accessories.

Hey Beard1, back on post 351, Beech303 said that his dealer had a TSB which replaced a part in the power steering to a 'updated' part. He didn't reference any TSB number and he didn't answer the questions a few posts after him for the number.
    Hope this helps.
  • tsantsan Member Posts: 3
mljohn, now that you mentioned it my roof liner has no moulding either, I just assumed that this was part of the design. If anyone else has something different let me know. I have not noticed any gas door rubbing as of yet and I have 3600 km on my sport trac. I guess maybe I was lucky.
  • tsantsan Member Posts: 3
I ordered my tonneau cover last week and there was no mention of a price change. Still $500 and some. I would suggest that if the price has gone up to $1034.00 (US) that you should find a dealer in canada and pay canadian funds for it as your dollar is worth $1.48 here.

Has anyone who has purchased a ST with the 15" wheels & upgraded to 16" custom wheels? Also, anybody have any links to aftermarket step bars, brush guards etc? Just to let everyone else know, I too am having the low speed steering shimmy & gas door rub. I purchased an ST without the Performance pkg. but had the dealer throw in the Ford ST step bars and fog lights, this was on April 29th, they have yet to deliver and have done an extremely poor job of following up, the dealer is Beaudry Ford in Atlanta.

First have to explain sorry for double entry the other day. Dealer called tuesday s/t's in. Ford c/s said on monday it's built and waiting for shipment. Don't know if I'm happy or sad after seeing complaints lately. K&N filters for thoes who want to know are supposed to up horsepower and if you add an intake tube it's substancial, also a "catback" exhaust system will also help performance. back to s/t am picking up friday will keep posted on every thing.
  • wpoewpoe Member Posts: 41
In previous posts, its been stated that Ford has announced that they are going to offer the Tonneau Cover at the factory price of $590, I have check with my dealer here in Atlanta and to confirm this and he showed me the letter stating that same thing (but it didn't have the price on it). $1030 does seem to be a little expensive.
  • mljohnmljohn Member Posts: 9
tsan, on mine if you run your finger along the forward edge you can feel the foam and the top of the headliner. Does anyone else have this besides us?

I just ordered the slip in vent visors from weathertech, $79 for a set of four. They are made specifically for the ST. www.weathertech.com

I stopped at my dealer yesterday to check the status of my order (which was initially made in march.) The manager brought up the screen used to order the trucks and it now shows a material hold for the tonneau cover until 7/24/00. I understand that my order will not be placed until the material hold is lifted, but I wish they would quit pushing the date back. After I placed my order the hold date was pushed back 1 month. As that date grew near they pushed it back 2 weeks. Then again for another week. 7/24/00 is an additional month and a half. Maybe they are going to do something drastic because they cant get the cover to work. The manager left a message for his Ford district representative asking about the material hold date and the coupon for a tonneau cover, if I decide to take the cover off of my order and get it later. Hopefully he will call back with some good news that I can pass along.

Ok sorry it took so long. The special service message # is 14005 . As the dealers im told no longer use TSB for the 2001 model year. This information is from the OASIS system thats ford service department use.

(ford bii) and (rb125): I have watched with interest your commentary as regards the Sport Trac Manual Transmission. As my husband and I wish to purchase only this transmission, and not the automatic, we are awaiting some positive feedback.

The owner/dealer with whom I spoke last week advised that although he thought he could initially place an order for the manual transmission for delivery in August, he has now been informed that it will not be available until November. The likelihood of it being available before then is that it will not. If anything, Ford may push back the date of its availability.

We are awaiting patiently until October when we can place our order. It is a bit of a hardship for us, but we do not wish to compromise as it will be a vehicle that we intend to hold onto for a long period of time. Hence, should anyone have any more current information regarding its availability, we would be most interested.

    P.S. What is the R4?

I called Ford yesterday and they told me my ST was arriving between June 26th and July 1st. I want the shimmy, sunroof, and gas cap problems fixed before I take delivery, however. So my question is, What exactly have people found out is causing these problems (specifically the moonroof and the shimmy) so that I can go to my dealer armed with accurate information. Thank you!

I have noticed that I have a vertical scratch on my rear window that looks like it was caused by moving the window up and down while something metal was touching it. Has anyone else had this happen? Gas prices are up to $1.77 here (Lincoln,NE) now--Yikes!

I purchased my harvest gold ST in February and I love it. I have the sport package and am thinking of getting the hard cover for traveling. I have had no trouble at all with my vehicle and wouldn't trade it for anything. It allows me to tow my two kids around and all of their junk and still be able to park with ease. I wondered how difficult it would be to remove the cover should I need to haul something larger. Is it a one woman job?
  • mljohnmljohn Member Posts: 9
donna lee - I read in the current issue of open road the cover weighs 70lbs. for comparison, the one that ARE makes weighs 95.

I just got an ST and it rides rough. It feels like it is all over the road tilting from side to side. I feel every little bump in the road and my body shakes when I hit bumps. Maybe this is how a truck is supposed to ride and I need to get used to it. I have always driven cars. But I have driven other peoples SUVs and trucks and not felt that much movement. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Help!! I feel like selling it and have only had it 10 hours. By the way, can you return a vehicle for being dissatisfied with it?

CWRAUSCH - Delete the cover off of your order because I've waited since February 19 for mine and it's not here yer. I canceled the cover May 11 and I still don't have a build date.

CRAIG - Do have any numbers at the company that I can call and find out the status. Do you have yours yet? How long did you wait if so?
I'm sending another letter today overnight to the CEO again. There was no response from last weeks letter.
    Thnaks
    Thanks

yachtventura/ford bii - blueovalnews revised on 05 May 2000 Someone I know, who can get info like this (TSB's), has said the same thing. He also said we should have the dealer look any 2000 TSB's when we have things not right, since all Explores are make under the same roof and use many the same parts.

My roof liner has no moulding either.

I have my truck. I ordered it in December 99 and had to wait 148 days. I would suggest that you cool your jets a little. It takes time for "stuff" to roll down hill. I heard from two different zone people about ten days post my letter to the Boss. The Dealer or his GM is the person to stay after. The Ford system works best (in my limited experience) this way.

Who would have guessed that an add-on accessory like the tonneau cover would get so many of us, including myself asking so many questions.
For me, sea kayaking is my main summer passion & the ST's bed (with drain holes) & lockable tonneau would hold the wet & dirty items much better than a car trunk or SUV rear cargo area.
Well, enough of me justifying why I & others are so intent on the tonneau cover...

    donna lee,
In addition to the dry weight, the folding design of the Ford cover gives a major mechanical advantage for any individual moving the cover (compared to a one piece design of similar weight). All of the folding cover's weight would be inches from your body (the pictures of the folded cover look to be 6" to 8" thick when folded). Storage of the folding cover at home or in the bed (with the tailgate down) is another advantage I see.

Recently got locking gas cap, Sport Trac Rubber Bed Mat, and Fron and Rear mud flaps. They show up in the parts department computer as white, it is an error, they are black.

I've spent the better part of the day researching again trying to get to ground truth about the tonneau cover price and availability. Sadly, to the best of my knowledge in Southern California a buyer will have to shell out $1030. The delivery period is now 8wks or more. For those of you desiring a part number for the hard tonneau cover it is:
    1L2Z99501A42BAA

Also, A.R.E. is also producing a cover (out very soon) retailing for about $780. It is one of those one piece, rear opening fiberglass panels with struts. I suspect all of the aftermarket folks will come out with their versions soon as well. Hope this helps.
