    Skip,
I obviously have too much time on my hands today, so I'll make a subjective comment on automatics in general...

Fluid change and filter cleaning at 30K miles is NOT excessive. In fact, the tranny fluid change is one of the most effective ways to increase powertrain reliability/longevity.

The trick auto on the 4.7 is certainly an issue. That's why I chickened out for the 5.9 and "old" tranny. But even still, I'll most certainly pop to have the trans serviced every 20K miles (as I have in the 5.9 Ram).

While it's not directly related, it's pertinent... My wife's '94 Intrepid began experiencing tranny problems at about 50K miles... Sticking valves that could have been avoided had we serviced the trans more frequently. These new transmissions can be extremely sensitive and temperamental without careful maintenance!

Last automatic I owned was a '66 Bel Air that probably never had any tranny work until it died with about 220K on the dial....I'll start looking into outside help at a reputable tranny place-I'm not too impressed with the dealership's mechanical expertise...side note:
When I went in this week to inquire where/when my
bedliner was going to be installed, I saw 6 of the eight service bays had full-size Rams up in the air, all in the same condition, rear wheels off, splines removed, rear differential cases open, gearless, and drained.....not a good sign at a small-town dealer.

Thanks for the kind words. Interesting observation on the Ford Crew Cabs. My current truck is an 99 F350 Crew Cab 4x4 Powerstroke. At the time I purchased it, I needed it's capabilities but that is no longer the case. I am looking forward to the smaller dimensions of the Quad, as well as its superior agility. I do agree that the lines of the Dakota Quad are more fluid, for lack of a better term. This is a tad off the subject, but I think the worst styling to come out of Ford in recent memory has got to be the Sport Trac. Then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

As regards your comments on servicing automatic transmissions on regular intervals. Most of my career experience, field and otherwise is with hydraulically operated systems. The greatest enemies of hydraulic fluid are heat and contamination or a combination thereof. Good advice.

Quark99-When I was a kid, a vehicle was only good for 50-80K miles and the manufacturers did not worry about tranny life. In the 70's and 80's you looked at 100k as a good run. Today, you should get 150-200k from a truck (we are talking majority of owners). As the vehicles are expected to last longer, be more efficient and be more compact, the need to do maintenance is stressed more. Compared to the cost of a rebuild, the oil change is cheap. Don't be surprised if the next generation of trannies have external filters and drain plugs.
Texaszach-I have no problems with the looks of the Sport Trac, but some of these angular suburban assault vehicles in the shows are beyond me. I kind of like the look of the Super Crew, but like you wanted something a little smaller. I get tired of parking a large truck in a spot designed by a midget car driver.
I also don't see that there has been too much negative about the multispeed automatic in these posts. There has been a couple of problems, but most of what I have seen have been people not familiar with the characteristics of a learning transmission. When I first got my 91 F150, it drove me crazy until I learned what it was doing. As someone who has done a heck of a lot of towing, I can tell you, I much prefer an automatic. On an incline with a load or a long haul, an auto is the only way to go. If a person likes shifting, fine.
  • texaszachtexaszach Member Posts: 119
To me, the SportTrac looks like two different vehicles were cut in half and separate halves were welded together, but then again, that is just my opinion, the ONE thing I am an expert on! lol Bear in mind that I am a fan of Ford, the last 3 trucks I've purchased were from the Blue Oval. Unless things have changed in the Grand Cherokee Forum over the past year, the automatics behind the 4.7 were giving lots of problems. The one thing that I remember being mentioned the most was the "loud clunk" in the tranny. Perhaps that is a designed feature of the transmission. Incidentally, my salesman and I both found it curious that the manual transmission in the 4.7L has a higher tow rating than the same engine with an automatic, normally its the other way around. Perhaps, I should reconsider the automatic, hmmmm....
  • ozarkozark Member Posts: 124
In the 4x4 the 5speed is the only way to go if you ever contemplate going off-road. Disagree on the towing comments since I would prefer a manual transmission over an auto any day.

    One other consideration--the 5 speed is plain ole fun to drive! I can honestly say that I have not enjoyed a vehicle as much since I bought a 750 Honda in 1971 and drove it up the coast highway in the mist and the rain.....whoops...we old men have to ramble every once in awhile :~}

I've had my 4.7 with auto tranny for 437 miles with no shake rattle or rolls yet.I absolutely love it.I am not really worried about it now but the resale is much better on an auto tranny vs. the manual.Hopefully I won't experience any trouble.I will admit the manual is kind of fun.One of my other cars has a 4 on the floor so I can shift until my hearts content.A 69 v.w convertible.I almost bought the sport trac but thought it was merely a wanna be pick-up.You either like the sport trac or don't.Everybody likes the Quad cab.I haul dirt bikes and man am I glad I had sense enough to choose the quad.P.S. It's also alot easier to talk on the cell phone, eat a McDonalds burger and drive at the same time with the auto tranny. Just Kidding!

Strike 0ne: went to pick new truck and the bed was misaligned. It was fixed the following week by the dealer's body shop (what a hassle). No shuttle service, some kid technician drove the truck hard, and they didn't even bother washing the truck. Strike Two: Now the bumper is misalinged with the bed. The rear bumper is almost touching the truck bed's paint on the left side. I said "the hell with it" and fixed the bumper myself in less than 15 minutes. Strike Three: The STUPID body shop technician (who can't count to ten) forgot to tighten three builts on the bed. My wife and I could always hear a rattle when hitting dips. I had a 1300 pound side-in camper on the truck for about a week and the noise disappeared. I went to get the kid's ball out of the truck's empty bed, and the bed moved (HOLY SH*T). Called the dealer again (Ferrero Auto Center), and was told to make an appointment. This time I said "screw them" and fixed it myself with the a socket wrench and a cheater bar. This dealership has lost my future business for a while.
It is truly sad when the costumer has to put up with people who are only interented in making a dollar. This may explain why customers know more about the product than the salesmen, dealerships, and even the technicians.
  • iowabigguyiowabigguy Member Posts: 552
I left a message in a earlier post. People who have their beds realigned will probably experience the same problem you had. The 2000 Dakota service manual has in bold print something to the effect that the screws used to secure the bed have a special coating and if removed should not be reused, book says use new screws. I'd be willing to bet no one who has their bed realigned has had new screws installed. Rick

OK, now for a dumb question.

Does anyone have a sense for whether any component of the T&H package makes it more difficult to get a second (cheap) set of tires and wheels for winter driving? For example, would you need to reprogram the computer each time you swapped? Or is the wheel size such that it would be hard to find a cheap same-sized steel set?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts (and patience with the uninitiated).
  • andy_jordanandy_jordan Member Posts: 764
As is usually the case, it depends.

If you use the same size tire and wheel then you will have no problems, the tire is certainly a fairly common size, so I guess the wheels should be fairly easy too.

The computer wont' have a problem as long as you keep the same overall dimensions - i.e. you can change wheel and tire size as long as overall size remains more or less constant - however that may lead to other problems - in particular with abs (or brakes in general if you go smaller).

One general comment - if you are looking for a winter set I agree with using cheap (steel) wheels - but I wouldn't use cheap tires - if you are going to change then you may as well make it worthwhile - Bridgestone Blizzak or Michelin Suregrip (?) spring to mind.

Know something? It's a pleasure to communicate with such an informed and POSITIVE group of owners (and waiters). While it troubles me that some have had disappointing experiences with dealership service (not surprising), my sense is that all participants have selected the QC based on what they felt was superior design/engineering despite the occasional build defect.

    To TEXASZACH:
While I haven't stepped down to the QC from a "monsterous" F-350, I HAVE stepped down from a full-size (Ram) for the same reason... Just didn't need that much truck anymore! And it was a GOOD decision... The 5.9 QC has the guts I need for towing, yet things like that precise R&P steering, turning radius, etc. make it a sheer pleasure to drive by comparison!

    To BOO:
Compliments (once again) for your perspective on fluid power! The auto tranny is a great device (I spill far less coffee these days) so long as it's maintained properly.

For those contemplating an order, I might add that the HD Service Group is well worth the price regardless of whether or not you haul a trailer. Between the trans cooler, HD battery, etc. it effectively lowers maintenance costs over the years. I have it in the '95 Ram, gone through 5 winters, and the battery is still just fine!

    To ALL:
The Ford Sport Trac is an interesting vehicle, as I'm sure other 4-doors will be as they hit the market. But curiously, once again, Chrysler seems to have created a niche with the QC.

I'm currently on contract with Ford. They butter my bread. But even with the incentive of a discount through the client, my sensibility and needs told me to go with the Dak. I suspect that others in this group are equally logical in their purchase decisions.
  • lmeyer1lmeyer1 Member Posts: 215
    Thanks again for your thoughts.

I also misspoke in my message. I did indeed only mean cheap wheels. Good tires are definitely in order.

I hope you don't get tired of giving free advice!
  • bja4bja4 Member Posts: 67
The builts never came loose, they just were not tighten. There is a coated on these builts (blue in color) that makes tightening them very hard. You need a air powered wrench or in my case socket wrench with a cheater bar. If I have any problems with the builts coming loose I will take it back to the dealership and raise holy-hell; demanding new builts be installed. Thanks for the post. I only wish the body shop technician could read so that no one has to go through what I did. Once again it comes down to making profit. The customer finds ways to affords $22K for the new truck, but the dealership can't find a way to afford $22.00 worth of new builts. That $22.00 profit just cost that dealer over $22K in future business.

3000 miles on my green SLT and not a problem to be seen!! Love that 4.7/auto.. it's thirsty, but the performance it worth it. I am now looking at doing something with that useless clip on the overhead console (I bought off the lot so I am without that option). I have two choices: (1) fins some aftermarket compass or toy and mount it in a home made bracket (I have looked at the console and a small piece of wood or Plexiglas covered in tan vinyl will work well) to fit inside the opening, and into the existing power lines. Or (2) buy the OEM compass ($289.. ouch) and try to connect it into the existing wiring.
QUESTION: can anyone tell about me the wiring harness: without the power overhead option I see only a single power wire for the lights. Is the overhead console wired for the compass and I just can't see the plug? Or do I have to run my own lines down to the dash? I expect I will have to get the maintenance book soon as it is, but any help from this forum would be greatly appreciated.. THANKS

Well guys and girls after 1wk and 350+ miles I love this truck. I too stepped down from a Ram 1500 but in this truck I don't feel like I am missing a thing. The only thing I am trying to get use to is when I park the truck and shift from drive to park there is a noticeable thud or something in the trans. Please someone tell me that they get this as well and it is something just to get use to. I have the 4.7 with the auto tanny.
  • towcrazy2towcrazy2 Member Posts: 337
Wish I could add something meaningful regarding your trans, but my quad is fitted with the 5.9 and "old-fashioned" tranny (thus my wallet is depleted considerably more than yours at the gas pump... #%&*!).

About all I can say is that I've read many other posts that also suggest a clunking in the multi-speed auto mated to the 4.7. Other than the annoyance of the sound/feel, I wouldn't dare venture a guess as to its cause.

What I will suggest, however, is that you take the time to visit your dealership service department, document the complaint, have a service advisor or tech take a drive with you to demonstrate the sound... and DEFINITELY have them write up a Repair Order listing your complaint. Chances are that they'll write "NPF" (No Problem Found) on the RO. But if something goes wrong with the tranny later, you'll be armed with "evidence" in black-and-white for arbitration purposes.

Since you've also "stepped down" from a "big boy's truck" (Ram 1500), I'd be interested in hearing your impressions regarding the difference. From my perspective, the Dak QC is infinitely more agile and comfortable... It feels GOOD to feel in touch and in control of the vehicle I'm driving... NOW, if I can just get rid of the 95 Ram, I'll be free to play with the new one!

    Good luck!
  • gsu1gsu1 Member Posts: 43
It is tough to compare the two, but I have noticed that the Dakota is more agile. The drive is more comfortable in the Dakota you have more control of the truck. Sometimes the Ram seemed to bounce on uneven roads, not the Dakota. It has a nice tight feel to it. Yesterday my wife commented that in this truck we sit closer together than in the Ram, which could be a bad thing as well as a good one. Depend what I do wrong. I have just now gotten past the break in period for the engine and have not really given the truck a good exercise yet that will happen this weekend. I will tow two seedos to the lake and maybe haul some dirt, flowers and such for the yard. I will let you know how this goes.
  • towcrazy2towcrazy2 Member Posts: 337
Thanks for trhe intitial impression on "step-down!"

A suggestion... It your wife had ever driven the Ram, give her some miles behind the wheel of the QC (and relax in that reclining seat yourself!).

If your significant-other is similar to mine, she'll be PERFECTLY comfortable with the driving characteristics... Which, of course, gives us more opportunities for longer naps on extended trips!!!
  • stevef50stevef50 Member Posts: 6
I have been reading this forum for quite some time and I was wondering how the ride characteristics change with the T&H package, i.e. is the ride any harsher. I am looking at purchasing the 4X2 with this package and was just curious.
I entered a comment several days ago about the big price difference with carorder.com in several states. I talked with them and they said the reason for this was in some states they had a bigger dealer network to work with which made it easier to get lower prices. Since this difference can be as much as $1200 in my case I might be going out of state to purchase my QC if my local dealers won't match the price.
  • towcrazy2towcrazy2 Member Posts: 337
Sorry to all, and this will be last for today... But there's something about that "burbling" of the 5.9 that gets to me...

Started the QC up to move it back to the barn (hail storm warnings tonight), and couldn't help but to sit and listen to that wonderful exhaust tone!

Called the delivering dealer today to chck on registration transfer from the Ram... He was a bit busy. As it turns out, every vehicle in their floorplan (180 total) was damagecd by a hailstorm that rolled throgh the night before last... JEEZ! Glad I picked the QC up last weekend and it's safe in the barn!!!

    Luck to all!
  • wetwilliewetwillie Member Posts: 129
only changes in the spring rates and shock valving (i.e. heavy duty suspension or increased load capacity)should affect the ride harshness. the components of the t&h pkg. (wider 15X8 wheels and a rear stabilizer bar) will have virtually no affect on ride harshness. the truck will, however, corner flatter and more confidently with this pkg. i've added stabilizer bars to vehicles i've owned and experienced no increase in ride harshness. one caveat, the 2wd t&h gives you fully 10" wide tires and you'll find yourself tracking down a set of wheel flares as the tires extend beyond the wheel openings. they're available as an option on the 4wd, but not the 2wd.(??) they can be had from the dealer (~250.00) and are fairly easy to put on. BTW, i have a 2wd with t&h and it has one sweet ride!
  • towcrazy2towcrazy2 Member Posts: 337
    Boo,

    Any luck on delivery yet!?

With what you've been through, it would seem the dealer would deliver the QC to you door, then take you and significant other out to a first-class dinner!

I rented a couple Quads recently...both 5.9 and the 4.7....looking to purchase soon.

Anyway, the 4.7l auto was a very nice driving vehicle...great power, pick up etc...the only concern I had was as you put it "a clunk when shifting from drive to park." I had the same experience. I seemed to want to lurch forward a bit during the shift to park. It felt rather
severe compared to other auto trans I have used and also the 5.9. Don't know if this is a problem, but it seems to be a common theme with
    the 4.7. Hope this helps.

Towcrazy2 - Glad to hear your Quad is safe from the nasty weather....where do you get such awful hail? Glad I live in the great white north.

Can anyone elaborate on what the Heavy Duty service package consists of? I hear some remarks that it is worth ordering. Just thought I would ask.

    Thanks.

Had 319 miles on this tank. About 40 in town, the
rest from Atlanta to Greenville SC and back. 16.6 mpg with the 4.7 is all. Got 8,500 miles or so. Runs perfectly, but I sur hoped for better with a lighter truck (than a 4x4 GMC ext cab 1500).
My trans goes clunk on shifts sometimes, never going into park. What's your idle speed? Mine is 500 w/o air and 600 with it on.
Truck has been absolutely perfect. KJ&N, Flowmaster and lot of goodies.
  • bookittybookitty Member Posts: 1,303
The Heavy Duty Service Group (ADJ) consists of the following upgrades:136 Ampere Alternator, 750 Ampere Battery, Maximum Engine Cooling, Power Steering Auxiliary Cooler and Transmission Auxiliary Cooler if vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission. It is required with the towing package, and may appear as part of another package. In my opinion, a worthwhile investment.

JEEZ!... Seems to me (and others) that you've been through enough to display "the patience of Jobe!"

As I've said before, the engineering behind the QC is remarkable. Yet, as I've seen before as an automotive sales/service training developer, there is NO ONE manufacturer that produces a defect-free vehicle. We look at the the specs... We drive the vehicles... We roll our dice!

I BELIEVE, however, that you'll be extremely pleased after that first couple of hundred miles behind the wheel!

And I'll be glad to hear your impressions!
  • towcrazy2towcrazy2 Member Posts: 337
    BOO... Kudos once again!

CRAZYCANUCK... The "HD Service Group" (code: ADJ) requires the automatic transmission, contains an engine oil cooler, heavy-duty alternator, heavy-duty battery, heavy-duty radiator and transmission oil-cooler... Whether you tow or not, the $153 (dealer cost) is WELL WORTH the up-front investment... If you're in a colder clime, I would also suggest the Engine Heater option at $30 (dealer cost) for those sub-zero nights.

Good luck! and ENJOY your QC!

PS: If you're speccing your truck, you might try out ... Lot's of sources out there! Just a matter of sorting them out!
  • bookittybookitty Member Posts: 1,303
HD Service Group is available (I ordered it) with the 5 speed, and will of course not get the transmission cooler. I always order an engine block heater, because it is kind to your engine and starter, etc. It was always nice coming out of the motel, starting the engine and getting immediate heat and defrosting. On construction equipment (especially diesel) I would not allow my dealers to place an order without specifying one.

  • tsopranotsoprano Member Posts: 15
Boo- I did not order the block heater and won't need it for awhile but is it easy to add ?It sounds as if it is a worthwhile option to me.
  • bookittybookitty Member Posts: 1,303
Usually is a fairly simple field installation, but some require draining and refilling the cooling system. Other after market types insert within a hose, and pulse the heated coolant for limited circulation.

Towcrazy2, could not access invoicedealer.com. Did try www.carorder.com. A little slow, but no big bargain as far as pricing. I paid $125.00 over invoice, less my Farm Bureau discount which brings me to below invoice pricing. That is if I ever actually take delivery.

Yes,do get the engine block heater. I also purchased the H.D.service group and the tow package with my 4.7/auto/3.92/4x4/31.5's/SLT. Global warming was put on hold last night and again tonight in the Reno NV. area. Reno 4500 ft.,thesandman 5500ft. Put it on a timer 20 mins in the morning and your motor will be your friend for many years to come.

    SANDMAN:
Excellent idea to put a timer on the block heater! Why didn't I think of that!!??

    BOO:
Also an excellent idea to carry a cord and use the heater compliments of the motel!

By the way, I left a letter out of that website... It's "www.invoicedealers.com"

DC specs were more difficult to initerpret than those of Ford. But that site seemed to come closest to mimicking the data book used by the dealers. In fact, I specced, priced and printed the sheets... Stopped into a local dealer, and ran through some pricing. He was surprised to learn that the Rear Defroster option (GFA) also includes the 6X9 power mirrors... Not very complimentary of the dealer guys when you know more about the specs than they do, but it's great to have such detailed info BEFORE placing the order!

Interesting... Remember what a miserable task it was to order a vehicle 10-12 years ago in the "BC" (Before Computer) days? We certainly were much more at the mercy of the sales guys back then!!!

Have some downtime with the work so I'm treating myself to a "goodie day"... Ordering some Lund stone deflectors, ventvisors, Fold-a-Cover, etc.

I'm looking for step bars, black to match the Westin Safari Bar... Anyone have a source and part number???
  • ozarkozark Member Posts: 124

Guys, another good site for pricing is as follows:
www.carsatcost.com. It utilizes the Chrome Data source popular at many dealerships. Unfortunately,
it covers only American automobiles, not imports. The nice part about it, is that it will not allow option duplication or engineering restrictions (ie: 5 speed and 5.9 engine). Operates very quickly as well and offers print out.

Tow, thanks for the corrected URL.

et al, looking forward to finally getting my hands
on the "elusive" Quad. Congratulations to haddon upon receiving his Quad. Now for a grueling cross country rally all the way down to Uniontown, the garden spot of Pennsylvania. Hope she makes it!

I've awarded my patience in breaking in the QC with a "play day"... Took it into town to pick up a few things at the hardware store... For the second time saw a Ford Sport Trac sitting in the parking lot.

Gathered my things and drove away... Stopped at a light. Who pulls up beside me? A much younger guy in that Sport Trac, who was CLEARLY looking for a bit of a run with me!

Growing up near Woodward Avenue, the "drag racer" in me came to the surface... Wanted nothing more than to show the "kid" what watching the rear end of a 5.9 QC was about... Must be getting old, because sensibility prevailed... With 250 miles on the clock, NO WAY am I going to punish a "green" engine for a quick thrill.

Must say, though... Once I've passed 1K miles, I'll might just stop back to the hardware store again!

Good luck to all! And once again, it's a pleasure to have dialogue with such an informed group!

Amazed at your principles and patience, but impressed by your persistance! I hope you'll find, as others here, that the wait paid off!

Don't be surprised or dimayed by the incidental niff-naff, such as the curled weathstripping around the rear door windows. I'm sure there are any number of good approaches to correcting it. Mine was to dab in a bit of "Automotive Goop", then pressure-tape it with duct tape overnight... Worked just fine!

Anxious to hear about your impressions of the 4.7/multi-speed combo! And will say (once again) that it's worth the few bucks and hassle to dump 6-8 ounces of "Marvel Mystery Oil" (upper cylinder lube) into those first couple of tankfulls!

Good news on the mileage front. My 4.7 auto, 31.5's, 3.92 has jumped from 14.2 to 17+ on the highway. I drive about 70 mph (2125 rpms +/-), and now have 3400 miles on the truck. I break in carefully, and expect the efficiency to keep increasing up to between 7 and 10k miles, though probably not much better than I'm getting now. Went from Oakland to Sacramento and back yesterday (CA) had tailwinds out (computer avg 17.9 mpg) and headwinds back (avg. 16.8). Mostly flat driving. Have a Leer shell, no racks. Great truck, and I check this board nearly every day, and always learn something...
    Take it easy.

Tow, "read my post." Actually my version of multi-speed is manually shifting from first to fifth through all of the gears. I ordered a five speed, as that is what I always preferred. Other than the leased Expedition (manual not available), all of our vehicles are five speed. To each his own. But, I am a long time fan of marvel mystery oil. Prior to WD-40, in the olden days that was all we had. A remarkable product that has had great longevity within the automotive world, as well as industrial applications. I enjoy your intelligent and knowledgeable postings. You certainly deserve the coveted "RESTRAINT AWARD" for not dragging that "youngster" in the Sport-Trak. He may not know this, but old age and treachery always wins out over youth and skill. That's all.

Forgot to say, 4x4, and also switched to 76 gas (87oct). Was using Chevron 87, like in all my Fords before this QC, but its just too damn expensive these days, so I decided to see what this "propower" is all about. I think its all just harmonic convergence...

Congratulations. You deserve a couple days off to enjoy the truck after all this waiting...I hope for all the readers of this forum that your posting will continue as a Quaddriver, now that you're past the Quadwaiter stage. Thanks and good luck.

Towcrazy when you get finished with the sport trac send him south. I will then show him the back of a 4.7 in atlanta. Funny you mentioned your encounter with a sport trac. I was in the slow lane getting ready to exit the hwy today on the way to work and sure enough one passed me. The two passengers in the thing almost broke their necks looking at my truck. The expressions on their faces were between damn thats a good looking truck and Wow I could of had a V-8. Sorry I stole that last line from the juice commercial.

I saw someone earlier mention they had FlowMasters on their Quad. Was it the 5.9 or 4.7. I had them on my Ram now I want them on my Quad. I also have been looking into the DynoMax brand anyone have more info. on which is better.

    Hey Boo,

Right on! Old age and treachery will overcome youth and ability any day of the week! It's somewhat heartening, for example, to hear that there's another "old fart" out there who appreciates the virtues of that marvelous mystery stuff during break-in... I can still hear my old automotive technology instructor SCREAMING at us to dump a few ounces in after an engine rebuild and before we went out drag racing on Woodward Ave.!

My apology on misreading your specs (5-speed)... If I'd my druthers, I might have gone the same route. But two issues confronted me:
    (1) trailering with a 5-speed; (2) occasional use of the vehicle by my wife during inclement weather... Bless her, but she's MURDER on a clutch!!!

In any case, Sounds like you've got a real performance package with the 4.7 and 5-speed (i.e., I don't want to race you)... Hope you can resist the temptation of inching that pedal just a little further toward the metal during break-in... It's been AGONY for me!

    GSU1:
Little question in my my mind that "the kid" in the SportTrac doesn't quite connect with the idea of power-to-weight ratios in the Ford versus either a 4.7 or 5.9 QC... Such is a concept that is sometimes better learned by experience than with a calculator!

Enjoy your Quads while they're still a marvelous mystery to the guys driving other trucks!
