I think even at $25k he'd have a hard time finding a buyer.
Now if you're really good with cars you can identify which car the hot rod's headlights came from.

The wide load was somebody's fun project that just went on and on and now he's come to believe his own propaganda that it's worth something.
Finally, to be honest, old Porsches scare me. You can spend way too much money on an old Porsche and STILL not be able to drive it..... Isn't there an old German curse -"May someone give you a free 20 year old Porsche that just needs a little work!" ?
The scary part about old 911s is the engine...if that baby blows up, you have totalled the car right on the spot. And there's no cheap way out. You could find somebody else's clapped out old used engine for $4,000 and then what have you got? No "patchin" a Porsche engine like you could with a VW. Ka-Boominflugen!
Cylinder leakdown test is MANDATORY and of course, up on the rack rust and collision inspection. Nice thing about the Targas is that if they are rusted the doors won't close, being a unibody and all. So you know right away when to walk away.

E300 Diesel: nice looking for the year. Looks like they maintained it well too.

Pinto -- yes with the popular "did someone leave two pounds of ball bearings in the clothes dryer" 2300 engine.
Mercedes 300D -- he might get that price if the Northwest hasn't come to realize that the Dutch diesel tulip bubble has already burst.
Now, what about the 190 2.2 diesel? Was it a durable and reliable engine, or was that engine not as good as the earlier 240D engines? I assume that, aside from the engine, which is the component about which I'm inquiring, the 190D must have had the the same "stay away" issues as the 2.3 gassers.
I'm asking because every time I see a nice 190 I'm tempted, but reason always prevails. Funny how nice looking quickly becomes ugly when a car is troublesome.
I think the later 2.5 diesel is the better one for the W201.

In 1991 there were no M3 sedans, let alone automatic ones. :confuse:
A lousy rebadge and rims don't make it sportier. Plus the spelling isn't encouraging.

I remember when I was in grade school, some kids I knew lived on a house on a large piece of property, and when they bought it, some things came with it, like a long-unused maybe 1954-55 Ford pickup. As their parents had no use for it, they'd let the kids play on/in it. I was somewhat jealous, I wanted something like that to play in. The kids didn't actually tear it up either, they'd just pretend to drive or climb on it, and it was in decent condition as this was in an arid area. I think some hot-rodder ended up offering them more money than they could resist for it.
I bet it's some shady neglected grey market car.
Upon further questioning she told me here family friend imported it from Japan. When I went out to look at the car it was an E36 4 door, with M badging, but had no special stictching on the seats, no M signage ojn the motor, and it was an automatic with few options.
Furthermore the registration read that it's a 5 series. :confuse:
I told her she'd better go/run back to her "family" friend" to explain exactly what he sold her.

I have seen on the Aussie/NZ market many frown upon Japan imports, and in the UK this is also somewhat true, as one must be careful. Many abused and repaired cars come over, even though they pass inspection they can be disasters to those who know the cars.

Mercedes 240D -- advanced case of hyperbolia---a common but near-fatal illness caused by inhalation of said fumes. "Only" 40 mpg and 500,000 guaranteed miles? Try 25 mpg and engine rebuilds at about 225K max. Welcome to reality.
71 Chevelle -- EWWWW.....yes you *can* get high teens for a custom '71 Chevelle but only for a tasteful one.
2001 Prius -- not a bad deal but phew.....UGH-LEE.
84 Dodge Rampage Show Car -- I find the rust on the fuel lines particularly appealing. The judges are gonna *love* that.
Edit: it's dropped to $15200, I emailed for details.

Glad he didn't waste any space listing all the things that actually make a Range Rover special! Those 'High pressure headlight cleaners' are what I'm really looking for!
Scammer copies and pastes photos from a legit ad, and copies part of the specs, most of the time not paying attention to what's written.
Add an unbelievable price, don't give out a phone number, and then once the prospect email him, they'll be an excuse or storyt for the low price (moving , must sellnow, c ar is in a shipping container already etc......).
Victim then wires moneyt that they'll never see again.

I also like it when they put the word "only" in front of a high mileage. Yeah, maybe 136K miles over 14 model years is "only" about 9700-9800 miles per year. So by that reasoning, can I say my 41 model year old Dart, which has averaged 8243 miles per year, has "only" 338,000 miles. :P
Yet people must fall for it, or the scammers wouldn't keep it up.

How hard is it to take 4 photos: front right quarter, rear left quarter, interior, and engine.

"two liter air cooled, electronic fuel injected and turboed"
Is this a turbo VW engine?---oh, no, that is a very bad idea. They can hardly withstand their own stock horsepower.
I thought these had German Ford V-6 engines as well.
but in forest green.
I'd actually heard about the car a few months ago, and that the guy only wanted $1500 for it. Supposedly it was in pretty nice shape, although I never saw it. Well, it's sold, for $1000, and on its way to Florida. When it was for sale, I tried to force myself to not think about it, but now that it's gone, I'm sorta kicking myself for not going to look at it!
I know it's a car with no upside to it, and a horrible thing to even think about in this economy, and the uncertainty of fuel prices. Still, I've always admired the beasts.
Oh well, probably for the best that I didn't buy it. Because then I'd have NINE cars right now, and probably wouldn't have been nearly as receptive to getting all the work that I'm having done to my '67 Catalina convertible.
Speaking of the Catalina, the mechanic still has it. The top is on backorder, and that's probably going to delay things at least two weeks. I guess I'll have that car back just in time for the first snow!
Oh, and while I was at the mechanic's shop, I saw a 1959 Dodge Coronet 4-door sedan, that he's working on. It has a 361-4bbl, and aftermarket air conditioning. It's pretty ratty, and needs an engine rebuild, but my mechanic says the owner's probably going to go all-out on the car. He already had it converted to disc brakes up front, and a more modern rear drum setup, that gets rid of the tapered axles and the drums you need a special wheel puller to get off.
The car's actually not a bad 50-footer, but up close you can see it's kinda ratty. Still, it's a neat thing to see.
it doesn't mess up the grille area. i don't really like the plastic front plate adapters put on a lot of cars in states like ct, which requires front and back plates.
the front of the car is very 'lincoln like'.
A former Ferrari Modena 360. And no one was seriously injured! "Daddy, can I have another one?"
