Thanks
For the average listener the optional system will be OK, but for the audiophile, it won't. The Visteon has no pre outs so the Pioneer or any additional amp will have to be fed speaker line inputs.... and She didn't know who made the sub, but I'm sure it will be a ported one for efficiency... sealed would be the best, but that takes more power. And just for you novices, 290 watts is peak power, no one pays any attention to that figure. RMS is what you want to look at.... and for that system it would be about 145 watts driving a total of 5 speakers (tweeters and woofers are considered a single speaker), or about 45 watts per each...... thats not much for an audiophile system.... but much more than a standard radio.
Just as always, I'm going to build my audio system from the ground up with aftermarket pieces.
Also, the Mandarin Gold paint will be no more and is to be switched to Silver Frost (code TS) as of the start of Job #2 (July 24th) .... wish I could see one in Silver before my cut off date, but that won't happen.

Can you provide the phone number for Vivian or someone else that I can speak to about the changes.
Thanks
I guess as a test I can put a broom handle across the bed over the mounting holes in the center of the bed and try to flip the cage. Best that would do though is give you a definite "It Will NOT Work" if it hits the handle. If it doesn't hit the handle all it would show is "It MIGHT Work" since I'm not using the real thing.
In the event one were to choose to go aftermarket on the radio, would you recommend ordering just the minimal radio option, or none at all.
Is there extra work in the "none" option since they may not then finish off the mounts and placements for the speakers etc. I suppose a true audiophile would want to replace all the factory speaker wire anyway.

Thanks.
tonneau. Cancelled tonneau 7-10 days
later. Still waiting. to rb125--haven't
found any ST's in the Sacrament area
with leather and moon roof. Can't go
out of state due to CA requirements. Would
have to buy used. Beard1--finally got
a vin and build date of 8-7 with a
price adjustment. Had to change color to
white tho.
I did get a closer look at the Tonneau Cover. The feel of the cover was much smoother than I thought before. It does have a little texture to it but not much. It was compleatly closed this time. I did notice a rubber seal down the middle of the cover where the hinge is. It was round sticking up on top of the hinge. My only thought was keep it siliconed!!!!
deciding2 - I figured you were just kidding. I wasn't sure what you were saying about plates. You mean skid plates. My truck is a 4x2 and I don't plan on driving it off of the road so I don't think I will need them. It's only a work and travel truck. Thanks again. A little humor helps me get through this ordeal with Ford. What a nightmare. I'm counting the days till July 24 when my truck will be built. Yeaaaa!
GG
I went back to the dealer and was told that Ford had put out some ST's with a dual tuner which would let you do just this.
Now the dealer is saying they have heard of no such thing.
Bob
I had everything priced and I added the Cargo Cage. The dealership priced this at $365.00, however, at Ford's website it is priced at $195.00.
Anyone know which is correct? Thanks a ton for all your help and useful messages. Hopefully I will have more to add soon!
The head turning factor is certainly in effect here in Pennsylvania.
I found a place on the web that located a trailer hitch that bolted right up without any modifications or busted knuckles. These guys are great...I had my hitch in three days and the price was $141.00 which included shipping from Ontario to Georgia. Class III round tube 2" receiver.
Here is the address www.hitch-web.com. Check them out.
"I would have to disagree about the Nissans and Toyotas. The quality of their product doesn't even come close to the Ford. The Ford product on the whole is more solid and the parts for the interiors are much better made."
Obviously Lisa justs posts and doesn't read what people are saying. I don't expect anyone to rip on there purchase of an ST, but facts are facts. There are problems with these trucks ( FOR NOW, mostly cosmetic) that should just not be getting out of the factory
Your not going to read about these "CONSISTENT"
quality issues with new Nissan or Toyota Pickups on their Edmunds sites, especially with the Nissan CC
As for Nissans not having any problems, the Nissan board is has a lot of them problems mentioned with the Nissan truck including 'vibrations', A/C noises etc. I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder.
#1. Floor lights under dash when door opens.
#2. Re-design the inside front door handles, I
am a big guy and the small door release is
up under the handle and hard to get ahold of.
#3. Larger FORD emblem on the rear tailgate and
move it up.
#4. Change the Sport Trac emblem from white and
red to something else, but I dont know what
for sure. Maybe just EXPLORER ST
Well that is it for now, maybe someone from Ford Will see this ?????
with all options but block heater. Cancelled
tonneau cover due to material hold approx week
later. Went out of area due to price. No one
would match deal. Laughed at me. Don't under-
stand that type of mind set. 3% dealer hold
back is pure profit. Vehicle is in and gone.
Will finally have the ST in late August. Still
a long time to wait. 3/23 to 8/? Maybe will
have corrected some of the assembly problems by
then. Jim
I have a gold 2x4 and it is a gold 4x4 but it sure was a surprise to find this on the shelves already and many people can't get the real thing.
Thinking about going back and getting one for myself.
By the way a also saw a red one there.
I checked with Ford and they claim that the T-cover will peacefully coexist with the cargo cage. I didn't have the presence of mind to ask about the divider, but I have a hard time believing it can fit with the cage...
I plan to take the ST in at ~3000 miles to get the nits fixed. I experience the pulsing when turning at low speeds, and have the rubbing gas cap, but fortunately my lower doors all seem to have been painted (Note that my ST is White in color). Perhaps the more exciting colors have this issue. For once it may pay to be a boring guy...
A heads up for other owners -
I have experienced a problem with the power rear window. When the window is in the down position and then is moved to vent, the window rises to a slanted position, with the left side aprox. 3/4 of an inch higher than the right. The window has a fair amount of play when grasped gently shifted to-and-fro in this position. My guess is that the window isn't seating in the right channel. This kind of problem sounds like a TGIF PM factory SNAFU, but I though I would post the situation to give others a chance to check for themselves.
I think I'll go to Wal*Mart and pick up one of those remote-control STs so I'll have something to play with while the dealer figures out how to fix the rear window. I have taken a gander at the layout and can't quite figure out how the technician will get at the window, unless he removes the rear seat and most of the rear of the cab. Glad its under warranty...
Fortunately the weather has been pretty nice in western MD and the rear window stays down most of the time ;-)
Thx to all for sharing their info and experiences and a special thx to Bob Kunkle for posting scans of the parts info.
Cheers, Cleek
Upon a recent trip to the dealer the fixed.. A ripped sun shad that was damaged during the moonroof leak fix, drivers side seat track (it was rocking and squeaked badly), and ordered new molding for the rear doors (did not fit to my liking). As for the fuel door, mine rubs slightly while opening, and they said "all Sport Tracs do that" and the power steering "pulse" was
"fixed" by bleeding out the PS (which did not fix the problem). My door bottoms are fully painted (deep wedgewood 3/28 build date)
A few minor bugs, but they are slowly working their way out.
If anyone wants a non-biased comparison of the ST and CC check out the August 2000 TruckTrend. They liked both, but the ST out performed the CC in people room, load carrying, braking with and with out a load, out accelerated with and with out a load, and had more "features". The ST also cost $5K more.
Well I had a friend take some picturers with his digital camera and he is going to put them on a CD-RW. I had tried taking 35MM, and they look great, but the done scan worth a damn on my scanner. I will post links when available.
I Love my ST.
St is going in the shop tomorrow for:
1. Vehicle is tempormental about letting me shift out of Park. I have to remove the key and try again. Maybe is has something to do with the replacement of the PATS module and transponder unit they did when it was 2 weeks old. Went out into driveway and engine would not start.
2. Rubbing gas door. Just started to rub paint off.
3. Scratch on interior rear passenger door.
4. Rear window rattles when in vent possition.
5. Sound in dash: when I hit a bump it sounds like your keys swing and hit the dash.
6. Steering "shimmy"
7. Possible minor miss alignment of bed in relation to cab of truck. Be is laterally flush with the drivers side of the cab. The bed is 1/4" -1/2" shy of being fluch with the passenger side of the cab.
NO SUNROOF LEAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Harvest Gold with paint on the the bottom of the doors!!!!!!!!!!!!build date 4/18/00
Assuming the ST in the test had ALL options available, less the items that were clearly not shown:
- The elusive Hard Tonneau Cover
- Power Moonroof
- 6 Disc CD
- Leather
The MSRP of the ST tested would be $28K, not the listed $30K.
Since price was the key advantage that the CC had over the ST, I would have expected that to be accurate.
Overall, still a must read article.
Well, I had to share what I found this morning while scanning the web for any news related to the Sport Trac.
A die-cast, with plastic parts, 1/18 scale Maisto Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/888191.htm
And guess what? It's on backorder...
Website says not available until october 2000.
Has anyone noticed a lack of paint under the doors of their RC model?
This could be normal and kind of makes anti theft sense but it is annoying.
