Where did you get your lights?
  • ssicchissicchi Member Posts: 18
I bought that at a local truck access. store.I'm at work right now but when I get home i'll call the store to find out what company makes them.
  • obr123obr123 Member Posts: 18
I asked Ed the same question? (as in I did not know either). :-)

He said it is for FORD employee's and their family members.

They get a discount on FORD vehicles since a family member works for FORD.

Each employee gets so many that s/he can give to family.

So if you have a realitive that works for FORD get on their good side quick and get you a price break on your ST!!! :-)

If National says "No" and Ed says "Yes" then my question would be..... who is higher on the food chain?

Ed Molchany - Sport Trac Marketing Manager?
    or
    National Office?

    Does anybody know?

I'm about to place my order and I don't know if I should get leather. I haven't been able to find a dealer with a Trac with leather so I can't touchee feel. Does anyone have leather and is the seat as good as the cloth

Not trying to correct you. I ordered my ST in May (build date is next week) and was assured by the dealer of the x plan price. Now he says it is not available. It will be interesting to see what type of deal he will offer. He has been sitting on $1000 since May 13. I used to drive only Ford products until 1985 when their customer service drove me away. I have owned Jeep products since then and was concerned about the Ford Dealer network. Looks like they haven't improved much.

I've got a fully loaded S/T ,and the leather seats are just fine.Kids have spilled a few things on them and they clean up easy.
I would get the leather if I had the chance.
  • greenwadegreenwade Member Posts: 24
Leather seats are great because they last forever. If you spill something on cloth then it gets stained. You can always get a seat cover on it. The only problem I have is when the car is in the sun all day, the seats are too hot to sit in if you have short on.

It's count down till I get my Estate green, fully loaded ST. Build date is July 24. Can't wait. I've been waiting since February 19. Does anyone know how long the delivery date is to Texas after the build date? Anyone else out there that been waiting that long? If so, is it because your ST is fully loaded with all options including leather seats?

I have the gray leather, and it feels very nice. First time with leather seats. Have the sweak in the driver seat. How is everyones gas milage? I get a range of 15.3-17, and the 17 seems to be the highest and I have 4000 miles. Drive 55 miles per day, or which 50 are highway miles. The range showing is 308 city, and 389 highway. I've never gotten close to that kind of milage range. The 4.10 rear gears I think is my problem with the RPM running around 2400-2500 at 65-70mph on the highway. Not looking to get 20-25mpg, but thought with the V6 4.0 litre it would do a little better. I did not have an option of getting the 3.73 because vehicle already ordered with everything except the 6 disk CD changer. Very lucky that I got mine in 10 days as the dealer negotiated with another dealership.
Just interested if anyone doing better on milage.
    Thanks

Got the job 2 paperwork from my dealer's truck manager. The sport package, either comfort papckagem, moonroof, 4.10 rear gear,6-disc radio require the automatic. That is if you want any of the packages they require the automatic trans. The manual comes in the stripped version only! I also noticed they started to limit interior vs exterio color combinations. Will try to post color combo after lunch. I will try to scan the Job #2 paperwork if anyone wants them e-mailed to them.

I too am anxious for Texas delivery. mine was ordered 5/23, build date suppose to be 7/24. Dealer said trucks shipped to Dallas and then trucked to cities.
  • jimz2jimz2 Member Posts: 44
My order info looks incredibly close to yours:
    - Ordered Feb 19
    - Estate Green
    - Build Date of 7/24

I have the cloth comfort though (tan for job2, originally ordered as grey)

    Other order details
    - 4x4
    - Convenience Group
    - Premium Sport Group
    - 4.10 LS Differential
    - Skid Plates
    - Hard Tonneau
    - Cargo Cage
    - Standard Radio (not for long...)

I listened to the new Pioneer 6 CD system in a different vehicle, 2 door Sport & wasn't impressed. Replacing the front speakers with component speakers or high quality coaxials would make a big difference. I'm curious as to where Ford will put the sub in the ST. My custom sub will be a 10" a/d/s in a sealed box under the passenger rear seat, removable for when the seat goes down.
  • fordnutfordnut Member Posts: 80
A-plan is for current employees, X-plan is for Ford's suppliers, and the Z-plan is for Ford retirees. I called the #800 a month ago and got a X-plan number assigned to me which you need to have to order a Ford vehicle under the plan, but when I asked if the ST was included the said no and that they did'n know when it would be. Sound familiar? I also called my dealer weeks later and he said no way...they just want to sell at MSRP to unsuspecting customers. By the way, the X-Plan is avail on all Ford models except for the ST, F-150 Supercrew and speciality Mustangs....all the hot selling models I think? I'm still going to hold out a few months on this because it can mean big $$$savings and leave more cash for goodies.

Does anyone have or have seen what the seats look like if you don't get either the cloth comfort or the leather package? The dealers I've went to only seem to have one or the other in every truck. I know they are described as captain's chairs and that they do not have adjustable head cushions .

I'm wondering because I can probable only afford the convenience package and either the cloth comfort or the sport package. If I had to choose between the two I would get the sport I think.

    Thanks

Just took delivery of Harvest Gold all options ST. Got it under the A plan in South Jersey. No problem from most dealers we talked to, although one said they were not accepting A plan papers. My advice is go see dealers personally. I suspect you will not have problems with x plan papers.

ST was a gift for wife-she loves it-gets a big grin whenever she gets in. Perhaps someday I will be allowed to drive it.

Also called the 877 # about cover-we are not on databse yet, but they took personnal info and Vin # and said they will get back to us. We would just like this done by winter.

I heard the sub for the ST would be behind the back left passenger seat in place of the storage area there now. I wish I could have gotten the Pioneer stereo when I purchased my ST, but the stereo is sufficient now. I've been having a few troubles with CDs getting stuck when ejecting them. I've just been putting a paper clip up against the CD that's stuck and the force seems to make it want to come out. I wonder what will happen when I take it in if it needs to be replaced since they're changing the stereo.

I ordered my tonneau cover by credit card last week and the customer service rep told me they've been told it'll be 3-6 weeks for delivery.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this . . . The paint on my drivers side doors has a weird type of reflection to it, but it doesn't seem to be just a reflection. My ST is black--when I look at the doors when clean there seems to be a series of lines that appear to be reflections, however when I move to the side the "reflections" don't seem to move as much as they should if caused by the sun. The other side has no problem. It's almost as if there's an imperfection under the clearcoat or something?

The best I've gotten with my ST on the highway was about 18mpg @ 65mph. I generally get right around 17mpg though. Combined city/highway seems to be between 15-16mpg. All city is around 14-15mpg.

I really enjoy the leather seats, however I could live with the cloth seats now since they include the high series floor console now. I just thought that whole bag thing was just a joke!

I love my ST and already have 8000 miles on it. Can't wait to get the tonneau cover on it. I just wish Ford would've seen some of these problems coming that have occurred, but I guess that's the chance you take when you purchase a new model. LOVE MY SPORT TRAC!

Don't just assume that the x plan is so good if you are eligible. It sounds as if a lot of people are probably getting a better price on there own. I can't remember for sure but I think the x plan is 5% above invoice.
  • taz791taz791 Member Posts: 6
The Cloth seats in the Sport Trac are Gore-Tex,
    water repellant, breathable laminated fabric.
Mostly used for persons who are active in the
outdoors. Also if you own dogs great for them.
Leather is hot in the summer and cold in the
winter. Plus in the sun with the moon-roof
open will cause the person to sweat, and when
they exit the truck will swear they hear a moo
coming from the seats. Also need to keep leather
conditioner on the seat will crack and fade
with wear, the drivers side the worse. Oh and
leather is great for kids because when they
rub on the seats makes loud fart noise.
So here it is Cloth or Leather you decide and buy!!
  • bjohn1225bjohn1225 Member Posts: 16
X-Plan price is 4% above A-plan price. I believe it usually works out to around 1% under dealer invoice. Probably much better than you'll get on your own.
  • governor1fgovernor1f Member Posts: 5
Thanks for your input. one the seats. I know I will be happy with the cloth but I think I would like leather. I hope it doesn't take me as long to get mine as some of the postings I'm reading.
  • fordsporttracfordsporttrac Member Posts: 300
There is no way your going to figure that out without knowing a bunch more information. I suggest you look at Edmunds Pricing and review the previous posts that detail new offerings on the ST such as Manual Trans, Console and CD player changes. Also consider destination charges.

If you have access to Excell get the file
    ftp://ftp.inletcorp.com/pub/outgoing/car-price.xls
that will help you with pricing an ST. You'll need to update the prices for Job #2 though.
  • obr123obr123 Member Posts: 18
Are the ST(s) on the lot?

If so the 2nd price is correct.

    If not....

And you are going to order one then the 1st price is correct.

That change over is being made on all ST's that are built/ordered after the Job#2 start. (from what I understand via dealership)

My dealer said since I ordered before they started Job#2 I would not be billed for the trans.

When the "close date" for Job#2 start up is I don't know.

So if you get your order in before then you should not be charged.

Does anyone have a miss-aligned rear window? In the vent position my window is slanted about a 1/2 inch farther on the driver's side. I can't believe this is a normal condition, despite what my dealership says.

I have the captain's chairs and I think they are very comfortable. They are similar to the seats found in most of the 4 Door Ford Explorers.

When I ordered my truck, I thought it was a rip off to pay over $800 for adjustable head rests, a power driver's seat and a compass/thermometer.

I'd be more tempted to purchase the cloth comfort now because starting in late July it will now include the high series console with the rear a/c and radio controls.

If vehicle performance is more important to you then go with the sport group over the cloth comfort.

I have a moonroof which I love in my ST. However, I left the sliding ceiling panel open (not the moonroof window)one evening and when I came back several hours later, the inside windows of the truck were all wet! The ceiling around the moonroof seems totally dry. Has anyone elso noticed this? Could there be a slight leak?

Hello everyone. We bought a white 2001 Sport Trac yesterday. Paid $200 above invoice plus tax and title. It's my wife's truck. She likes it a lot. It has gotten a lot of compliments. Sharp looking. The neatest option is the cargo bed cage. It is what really sold her on this truck. Believe me, it's money well spent.

Anyway, does anyone know when A.R.E. will start making the color-matched fiberglass hydraulic truck caps (tonneau covers)? I want the best. Today, I'm going to send her to get the bug deflector shield and window deflectors (rain) installed at a really good shop. She starts back to work next week (from having the summer off) so she will be happy to go now.

I will try to inform you of any good or bad problems that arise during the next several thousand miles. Good luck to all of you who have or are getting a ST.

I agree with Zack1000--also though the clothe group was a rip off. I don't mind the bag..I figure if I load it with cd's I can just grab it and bring it in the house. I also like the small change holder under the ashtray..and the space between the low console is just right for my purse or a small cooler. I went with the conv. group and sport group and have no regrets...1300 miles and going strong. I also get 15-16MPG city and 18-19MPG all highway. I plan on getting a K&N filter...from these posts it sounds like it will be helpful. Well got to get to work...Later

I noticed how you said your dealer called you to tell you of the changes in prices, but you said your price stayed the same. I would like to know if you think I am going to have to absorb the price increases even though my dealer and I have a 'written, signed purchase agreement/order' dated june 10.
I feel like I should NOT have to eat the price increases and I cannot find it anywhere on the paper that I will have to?! How pushy should I be? I know they change pieces/parts but why should I have to bear the expense when I ordered it with the 'at the time available' 6 CD in dash (before the pioneer switch).
Please, anyone, help me out in your thoughts on this. I am a very price conscious person (cheap was too harsh a word) and need some help from the strong members of the peanut gallery!
    Please post!

My dealer didn't actually call, I stopped in, which I think gives a more personal & more powerful stance.
I approached the issue by stating that I was glad that my price is locked in.
The code #s of my order were all the same (since I didn't have the 6CD) & maintaining my contract was a given.
To add leather at that point would have meant a re-negotiation of the comfort group (I added the cloth group at cost a few weeks after the initial order).
All parts besides the 6CD should remain constant per your contract & you shouldn't have to pay more than the MSRP increase of the radio change.

Your contract is still valid with the dealer. His contract with Ford is not your problem.

We also have the in dash 6-cd changer; however, about one month after we took delivery our radio quit working. The changer still works. We took it to the dealer and of course they cannot fix it so they have a new one on order. It has been about a month and we're still waiting. I talked to the parts guy and was told that Ford has none at all floating around. He knows nothing about the Pioneer stereo so it will be interesting to see when we get a new unit and what it will be.

Hey Guys anybody interested in down loading pictures of the bug shield sold in the catolog. I've not seen it yet (catolog) and would like to order one but don't want one of those bug shields that look like a warriror shield from a roman officer. Im looking for the ones that are made to fit very close to the conture of the front of the truck. Thanks

A.R.E. already makes a tonneau cover for the ST. I just purchased my cover for my Island Blue ST. They are a bit more expensive at $760 plus tax and installation, but I think they look a lot nice than the Ford cover. You'll have to order the cover thru a dealer and there's a 10-12 working day wait to get the cover in unless for some reason the dealer already stock your color. the only color my dealer had was black.
There's also a $20 coupon you can get from A.R.E.'s website. My cover should arrive next week, can't wait!

Your sun roof drip tube may have fallen off already. Take it back to the dealer and have them look at it. It is a known problem. I never have condensate inside the Truck but my drip tube did fall off and was repaired.

To my knowledge there is no stock hitch from ford its all after market stuff. Although ford sells one of the after market hitches in its outfitters catalog. Part number 19D520 No price in the catalog. Several people have already posted other after market hitches with the web site. Look through the previous posts.

About 3 weeks ago the "Check Engine" light came on. I took my ST to the dealer and the service department said we can't find any problem. One week later "Check Engine" light comes on and the engine starts to shake the vehicle violently. Back to service department. There conclusion bad spark plug wire. They replaced the spark plug wires and distributor cap. I got it back on Wednesday. I did not get 2 miles from the dealership the same damn thing starts happening again. I went back to dealership( 3rd time is a charm I hope) and this time they determined it is a bad Power Control Module. I just wanted to keep everyone posted. I have 3200 miles currently. I am going through ST withdrawal symptoms. I pray they get it right this time.

Did anybody notice the conflict between web site regarding revisions on the Sport Trac?
    Kelly Blue Book
    Edmunds
    Fords own web site

KBB isn't clear as to the High Console

Edmunds does mention it but no mention of payload upgrade

Fords is as the first print out I got in March

Has anybody got any comfirmed info with prices?

I received my tonneau cover today from Bankston Ford in Frisco, Texas. I received the mailer from Ford about 6 weeks ago and ordered it that day. It is different from the original pictures in the manual - in that it has 2 sections instead of 3. Each section folds back over the other (hinge in the middle). It closes kindof like a trunk lid (It locks upon closing) which I liked. The lock tumblers are modified by the dealer to match your regular key - which was real nice. It looks real easy to remove - but I havn't tried yet. It appears to be very well made.

I know what a Tonneau cover is, but what does Tonneau mean and how is it pronounced? Also, how much ground clearance does the ST have with the 15 inch tires?
    Thanks, Mel

    sporttrackster,

Every photo and document I've seen shows the cover with 2 not 3 panels. Did you get the cargo divider? It should have come with it? Do you have the cargo cage? Your the first to post with a cover, give us details!!!

Well guys, I bought my White ST 3 weeks ago. I ordered my A.R.E. cover as I signed the papers. It came yesterday and I love it! You can't beat the quality! I have the cargo cage and feel much safer having with the cover. I have 2800 miles on in now and will go on a 1600 mile round-trip next week. I'm sure the gas mileage will be better, but I can tell you that the plane ticket was cheaper.

HEY ALL YOU TEXAS PEOPLE. LETS US KNOW WHERE YOU ARE FROM - WE MUST STICK TOGETHER.
