It's interesting how closely the Mazda Luce resembles its German contemporary:

Not much to go on there but that distinctive C pillar belonged to the Triumph 2.5 PI saloon ca. 1969-75>

At last - something more familiar... Looks like a 1951 Ford Victoria. Sweet.

Like everyone else, I'm going to try to distract attention away from the fact that I have absolutely no idea what Fintail's red coupe is.... by posting something obscure myself!

Very nice looking 1951 Ford Victoria hard top. Would like to see more '50s and '60s cars posted.

'Zactly, apparently '51 was the first rear for a Ford Hard-top.

If it's any help, the red car is registered in Luxembourg (which probably rules out most weird East European cars).

shot in the dark: is the red car a Deutsch-Bonnet?
  • lokkilokki Member Posts: 1,200
    Right Magnette -

1964 Mitsubishi Debonair... it was a warm-up though... since it was in production almost unchanged until 1987.

    Here's your next -

I have to guess that car is some kind of special modified by a small manufacturer or maybe an individual. The shape of it just doesn't ring a bell. I do notice it has some kind of odd air vent on the roof - seems like an Italian cue to me, kind of Abarth-esque.
  • zaken1zaken1 Member Posts: 556
1958 Ford, with a few non stock custom touches added.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,669
    It's a 59 Ford Tudor. Base model.

I think it was this forum where the addition of the continental kits on cars that didn't have them originally was discussed. It really detracts from the value of the car in my mind.

I can't believe anyone bought a continental kit on the base Ford in 1959.

Actually, it is a Custom 300.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,669
Yes. The base model is the Custom 300 (but there is a spartan business sedan) and it's a Tudor per the brochures.

That car would look exponentially better without that super-stupid Continental kit! I don't recall seeing ANY 1950s cars with them when I was a kid. Why do these DORKS insist on ruining a perfectly nice piece of machinery with such self-destructive add-on junk. Their idea of the 1950s must be like later episodes of Happy Days where Potsie has a 1970s hairstyle and Chachi doesn't get beat-up for looking like a girl.
  • lostwrench1lostwrench1 Member Posts: 1,165
The 1953 Dodge Club Coupe had the factory option of a Continental Kit.
The 1955 and 1956 Hudson Hollywood hard top had a Continental Kit but I don't know if it was standard or a factory option.

It has eyebrows and a backward-sloping A-pillar. So it was probably made between 1957 and 1961. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and suggest that it was once a '59 Edsel.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
The 1963 b-w boxy saloon is a Sabra Carmel made in Haifa, Israel. It was established there by Reliant (who also set up car manufacturers in Turkey, Greece etc..) Styling appears to have been by a brick or furniture manufacturer.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
    Right year, wrong make.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,669
    Sabra Carmel is correct.

That particular shape of A-pillar was specific to full-size GMs from '61-'62, beyond that I couldn't say.

The A pillar and flat fender tops are definite 1959 GM DNA. I see a slight angle to a trim piece on the passenger side, so I will guess 1959 Buick.
  • bhill2bhill2 Member Posts: 2,593
    I'm guessing '59 Chevy.

I'd say the red one is a '52-53 Plymouth Cranbrook.

Is anyone else having trouble seeing the picture of the intact Chev that Lemko put up?

Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not as I'm reading this thread.

I was going to say 1953 until I saw the '1954' sign on the wall!!! And I sure don't remember seeing Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels on a '54 Plymouth before! I think 1954 was the first year for a 'Belvedere' top-line model. My parents had a '53 Cambridge (not top-line, that was a Cranbrook).
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,669
Good eye Wgrafer, I didn't notice the 1954 on the sign. I reckon all the cars in that photo are '54s, the red one being a Belvedere.

The Kelsey-Hayes wires were an option on some cars of the '50s (e.g.T-Birds, Skylarks) and could be obtained on the aftermarket for many other cars of that era. They were not often seen as they were pretty expensive, it's not likely that many Plymouth 4-door buyers went for them.
