    I think th Avalon debuted for 1995. I remember my mom wanted one - but they were a little too dear for her expense desires.

    Cressida was redone for 1989 yeah, bigger and rounder.

    I guess nothing really replaced the Cressida, it was just phased out and replaced with dull FWD iso-chambers...really, it is indicative of the direction Toyota took in the 90s.

    "Buicamry" is right. My Dad (67) was an Olds guy with a few Caddy's thrown in for years. His last 2 company cars were an Olds 88 and then a Camry, he got to select both. When he retired, he bought a Camry, but has been making noises about wanting to get an Avalon. So I guess for at least one consumer the Avalon and Camry have replaced the Buick and Cadillac.

    Amazing the progression of the Toyota model line over the years, but very smart when you think about it. They hooked the consumer early in their buying days with Corolla's, Celica's or Tercel's. Offered them the Camry when they needed to upgrade and now have the Avalon (or Camry) for their golden years.

    That does seem to happen - Pf_Flyer has driven Nissans forever. Maybe the ruined LED third light on his Versa will ruin it for him.

    I had a wonderful Tercel I drove for 17 years. The three other brands I've owned since then have all been fine. Maybe Toyota will sell me another car, but there's no loyalty there. My Dad loved his '53 Buick but wound up in a Valiant and Falcon after that.

    People seem to hold grudges against manufacturers at least as much as they are loyal to a brand - probably more so. It's a mystery. :shades:

    It's no mystery, it's human nature. If you get good service from a car you're getting what you expected but if you don't it's a bit of a shock and it makes more of an impression, doesn't it?

    Yeah, that's a Mini Coupe. Wonder if it's more than just an exercise--could be the spiritual successor to the CRX.

    Looks a bit odd, like someone tried to fit a Miata's hard top on a convertible Mini.

    Saves 200 lbs, is that enough? I'd like to see it even lighter than that.

    I don't know if I like that study...looks like the bottom half of a normal Mini with a new top. Doesn't look fun for the 5'10"+ crowd

    Close - it was actually a 1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88. Olds model names were confusing back in the 1960s.

    Looks like Fiat 1100s--lots of them--and IIRC they are still on the road as taxis in some parts of India under a different name.

    That's right Stephen, those are Premier Padminis, an Indian version of the Fiat 1100D. This version of the Millecento was introduced in India a few years after it's Italian debut in 1962 and is still in use in India and Pakistan, mostly as cabs.

    Production in Mumbai ended in '98.

    Yuck, you'd have to be crazy to pick that over a loaded Flex.

    I think the Flex is actually pretty cool, it looks like a Super-sized Mini Cooper.
