Variants of the Mitsubishi Eclipse are the Plymouth Laser and the Eagle Talon.

If you are thinking of a Dodge in that era, it may be the larger, Dodge Stealth, which was the Mitsubishi 3000. I owned a base model Stealth. First one sold at the dealership in a city nearby. I fell for the looks and the ride. Fun car and got more compliments, and looks than any car I ever owned. Since '91 model year, of course, other cars starter looking hot, like the new Preludes and new Camaros and such. Prior to '92, people would have thought they were looking at a Ferrari, or something.

Wow, very nice Volvo. Much better than the old hump back ones. Looks early 60's. Would like to own a P1800 Sports Car. Use to think those 164's were classy. Still kinda like'em.

And the Tiburon is a fine looking car indeed. I wonder if the Sonata engines become standard for the Tib. for '07. It would make it a better deal. Gas mileage, and HP would improve!
Has to be one of the most stylish cars around under $30K.

Heh. Late-model Holden Statesman or Caprice. Long-wheelbase version of the Commodore and costs about as much as a Cadillac STS once you do the currency and tax conversion. It also gets dual wreaths around the Holden lion.

I saw Aussie and Turbo, so I'm lead to assume... Holden Commodore VL Turbo? Holden's brief foray into turbocharging, and I think it had something to do with the Holden-Nissan joint venture.

VL it is (though all the ones I've seen were Calais; was the turbo available on the other trim lines?). Emission standards put the old Holden inline sizes out to pasture for 1986, so Holden sourced the RB30E from the Australian R31 Skyline and had Nissan whip up a turbo version. This proved to be a temporary measure as the yen started appreciating, so corporate sent down the 3800 V6 as a replacement.

Seems it was just on the Calais. Makes sense, as turbocharging was seen as a bit more premium.

That was the last time a turbo was seen in a Commodore. Even though Ford turbocharges its XR6 Falcon, Holden hasn't dabbled with it. It, however, did bring in supercharged Holdens around 1996/97. They seem to have disappeared, though, much like they have in the US.

There were supercharged Bonnevilles, Riveras, Park Avenues, 88s, Regals, Impalas, Monte Carlos, and Grand Prixs. All that's left now is a supercharged Grand Prix.

that often, so sorry for the delay. Anyway, that Caprice cop package is an '81-85. Really no way to tell which year though, as the '81-85 all used the same grille. For 1980 the grille openings were more square though, and for '86 the front-end got aero'ed just a tad.

Kinda odd though, seeing an '81-85 Caprice decked out as a police car, since at the time Chevy still offered the Impala, and the Impala is what mainly saw police/taxi duty. '81-85 Caprices would see service in taxi fleets as used cars, but not that often as brand-new.

FWIW, here's what an '81-85 Impala looked like. I know it won't have many fans around here, but I always thought it to be a handsome beast. I preferred its slimmer, more intricate grille design to the Caprice's bolder eggcrate-ish affair.

I've seen this once before and it's been a good while, it's a 1949 Kaiser Virginian. It's not a convertable, it just has one of those fuzzy tops on it like my 89 Towncar had.

It's a 67 or 8 Firebird 400. I believe that the grill is the only visual cue as to which year it is. I'm not sure, but I'll say 67.

They did offer the 400 in 1967. A quick google disclosed:

The Pontiac Firebird was released five months after the Chevrolet Camaro, and offered buyers choices of six and eight cylinder engines.... Initially, five different Firebirds were available, named after their respective engine choices.... At the top was the 400 V8 borrowed from the GTO.

This would be a 1968 Firebird since it has side light markers. The front turning signals wrap around to give side reflection. The rear emblem on the side is the side light marker.

If you clicked on the link above showing the 1967-69 Firebirds, the '67 has a clean rear quarter panel with no side light marker. And, the front of the '67 does not have a turning signal cover that wraps around the front.
