I am assuming they didnt add anything to the 06 TLs huh? since its not much price diff than the 05's. I was just on the acura site reading about the new TL and it doesnt seem, to me, diff at all from the 05 TL
Can anyone tell me what is new with it, if there is anything new in it at all?
The front chin spoiler would definitely be at risk if you have a steep driveway. I don't have the front spoiler but I still nick the front occasionally going down the steep ramp at the office parkade.
Before reading the reply to your question, please remember that the following list of additions and/or changes might be considered to be subjective in nature and people weigh them differently especially when you can get a GREAT deal on a 05 vs. buying the 06.
Some of the changes are: Royal Blue replaces Abyss Blue Green is discontinued New exterior/ interior color options Tire Pressure Monitoring System New Torque Steer Control to minimize the same especially on 6MT. New option of a 17' wheel available Depreciation on a 05 vs an 06 ( basically matters if you are keeping the car 1-3 years)
Can someone explain to me, how Acura can give a better Nav system to the lower price TSX than the higher priced TL for 2006.
For 2006 TSX, the optional Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition(TM) has been enhanced with expanded memory and a faster processor to provide quicker start up and route search times, more points of interest and additional features, including access to the Zagat Survey(TM) Restaurant Guide. This easy to use navigation system features a menu of 560 voice commands, an 8-inch display, a comprehensive destination guide with over 7 million points of interest, 3-D graphics for freeway interchanges including on and off-ramps and turn-by-turn voice guidance. In addition, U.S. cities and street names (1.7 million) may now be accessed through the voice recognition system.
For the TL: The Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition(TM) is available on the TL as a factory-installed option. This easy-to-use navigation system features a menu of 293 voice commands, an 8-inch touch screen display, a comprehensive destination guide with more than 7 million points of interest spanning the continental United States, 3-D graphics for freeway on and off ramps and turn-by-turn voice guidance.
I share this concern. I was going to get a 2006 TL A-Spec but am now thinking I'll get it with A-Spec springs only (lowers the car 1") with rear deck lid but without body mouldings or front spoiler. BTW - What is the new 17" wheel option??
ok first of all i dont know about the rest of you but im wondering what happened to the ALL WHEEL DRIVE system that the new tl was supposed to have? considering everyone was saying that acura said it would have it and why is there still no fold down trunk? why is the hp lower in this tl then in the past ones? like someone else said that the new navigation system in the tsx is better then the tl? my new opion on the tl is why spend the money if people cant have what they want.
What you are hearing is probably that black air dam...and not the painted bumper surface. Not a biggie...no worries. But I would be hesitant in putting any additional spoilers on front....
I don't think AWD on the TL was ever any more than an Edmunds board rumor (or wish list). As has oft been mentioned here, an AWD TL would probably badly cannibalize RL sales, not desirable to Acura I'm sure.
Rear seats don't fold to enhance structural rigidity, less body flex & better handling. It would be nice, but my skis pass through nicely in the center opening supplied!
HP is only lowered on paper, new SAE measurement standard. Theoretically, all HP measured as such will be lower than prior standard.
If the TL is the car you want (as it is for me), you will spend the money! And people are, TL is selling quite well. Overall, a great car and value!

i am surprised acura hasn't made any changes really to the 06 model. Normally the third year of a MY is where significant additons are added. I guess the 04 TL had so many features other cars in its class didn't have so they decided against changes for the 06. Only thing is they are not staying ahead of other models that are catching up to the TL such as the IS....
i loved it when i first seen the tl and i thought that they were ahead everyone on the market including more expensive companys like bmw jag and mercedez except for minor diffrences but now they are really startin slip i mean damn the new maximum has the same features and more such as heated steering wheel backseats and it comes with a faster engine and rear shade :confuse: i dont know about the rest of you but i like extra features in a car atleast nissan knows what people like i seen many forums and if acura started to ask what people want they would of been better off. but without a doubt tl beats it in quality but i still tho acura should of put the super handleing option in the new tl and put those extra features in and boost the hp to 300 while the new rl should of had like 400 to keep up with cadillac and put some extra features in that and they would of been all set and still beat the bigger companys basically i waited a whole year to see what the new one would of had so i guess i wasted a year. i would of paid an extra 4 grand for those things but i guess it will just have to remain in my dreams for now i dont know what i should by or wait til the 07 comes out :confuse:
how Acura can give a better Nav system to the lower price TSX than the higher priced TL for 2006
Easy - Acura's research led them to believe they didn't need to incur the additional costs to the TL to boost sales, and they're not concerned with that addition to the TSX driving people away from the TL to the TSX.
In regards to the Maxima, I think it is a nice car as well. However, I feel that you are paying a premium price without getting the premium nameplate like the Acura. I am not trying to say that the Acura name carries the greatest prestige in Automaker history but I like having the TL in my driveway as opposed to the Maxima, considering they are similarly priced if similarly equipped. :P
I definately agree that the TL beats it in quality, fit and finish. Please refer to the earlier posts in regards to the changes to the 06. To say that there are no changes would be incorrect.
C'mon man. Get a job first before you go thinking about buying a car in this price range. The Maximum? Not a bad car if you're into shiny plastic. And the Mercedez is in a different price range vs. the TL. Overall quality/reliability/and ergos of Acura/Honda vs. Infiniti/Nissan has always tilted Honda's way. And I've owned both. The only real competitor to the TL is the 330 - but that thing is just too small !
taxesquire, my thinking was somewhat similar, I just wanted to hear other people opinions. Both cars are selling very well, they both set sales record in July. Obviously, Acura wants to sell a lot more TSXs and to give it an edge over the TSX competitors. You are correct, this added advantage wouldn't sway me to purchase a 2006 TSX, I am still purchasing the 2006 TL.
First of all, I highly recommend you look into a good basic grammar and spelling course.
Second, the "maximum" has a cheap interior, inferior audio and navigation systems, and perhaps most important of all, lousy side crash testing results.
The "mercedez" and all the rest of the German cars, with the exception of the BMWs, have poor quality and some of the lowest reliability ratings in the industry. And as for BMW, the 3 series is cramped and the 5 and 7 series are cursed with the almost ubiquitously despised i-Drive. It seems the Germans are doing most everything they can to alienate their core buyers, not to mention drive away new prospects. I have owned German cars and I can tell you the current offerings are but a shadow of their former iterations in general quality and reliability although they now have plenty of gadgets, gimmicks and unwanted features. In a word, they have become overtechnologized. To their detriment, I might add.
The TL, as a package, is not outdone by any German car or any other Japanese car for that matter.
Not to mention the Circus Maximus isn't nearly as handsome as the TL! The Max is one strange lookin' duck, imho.
And I do like Nissans. Family has owned a few over the years, including a 260Z.

I think that's an unfair comment to make. Anyone can post regardless of whether they can spell, and if I recall acurafan's post, I think he was doing some venting. We are all entitled to that, and I'm sure you would understand how an emotional poster might mispell words.
'Cause I think there's some "ganging up" going on here, I'll play the other side for a bit. The Maxima is a good vehicle. While it's fit, finish and handling isn't up-to-par with the TL, it's got a great engine, I believe it has a larger back seat and its curved roof makes it even more comfortable than the TL for taller passengers. I like the looks - a little weird, but kinda cool.
Anyway, with those two, it seems to be a matter of whether you spend your money on straight-ahead acceleration or the accompaniments. As a sidenote, if straight-ahead accelleration is your priority, and 2 doors is not a deal-killer, I think the new Mustang is tough to beat.
Yes, let's stay away from commenting on other members' spelling/grammar expertise. Keep in mind that we occasionally get visitors from other countries, and for whom English is not the native language. While using no punctuation certainly does make a post very difficult to read, it's better to just skip the post than to remark on another member's flaws.

Can there be a mistake on the ’06 TL website or am I messed up. It shows no Ebony available with the Red or Desert Mist? Please god(delmar1) tell me IT AIN’T SO!!! I must have an ’06 Red/Black. My dealers are clueless about the '06 or very good actors. Thanks in advance.
God probably won't be able to answer...but let this lame TL guy help. Looking for a black colored TL? Ah...that 'Nighthawk Black Pearl'. On the Acura TL build a car....that is the third color from the right....just to the right of the 'red'.
Ah...dealers always play dumb.
All the interior look great...but in the black pearl...my person choices are camel and parchment.
Thank you, All Seeing and All Knowing (complement). I am looking for the black interior (Ebony) with either the Red or Beige but not finding it. I was hoping someone with a broucher or inside info could verify Acura does not have the Red exterior/Black interior combo for 2006.
I don't know if it's the cost or something else. Once you develop a new system, putting it in other models shouldn't be that prohibitive, should it?
Honda/Acura seems a bit funny this way. Most car manufacturers seem to introduce new vehicle features from the top models down. This is one example of how Honda/Acura doesn't predictably follow this pattern and is more idiosyncratic. Maybe the way they cycle or introduce car cycles? I haven't figured it out.
Another example: My wife's '05 Odyssey Touring has a nice steering wheel mounted control for the multi-information display (MPG, temp,...) that seems more convenient than the TL system with the same information (per the descriptions of others) and rotates logically through. It also has a TPMS. So... an '05 Honda has features AHEAD of same year Acuras?!!
I'm with Tee, though, that the better Nav won't sway me to get a TSX rather than the TL. Knowing there's a better Nav on a "lesser" model (no real disrespect here) though does seem backwards.
Don't your dealers have a brochure or web access? Sorry you're disappoint you on your intriguing combination. Custom aftermarket leather color change would be a bit pricey, I guess?!!
I have a 2006 Brochure. www.acura.com also has the combos now. The color combinations available (Ext/Int) are:
Alabaster Silver Metallic / Quartz or Ebony Antracite Metallic / Parchment, Quartz or Ebony Desert Mist Metallic / Parchment Redondo Red Pearl / Parchment or Camel Royal Blue Pearl / Parchment or Quartz Nighthawk Black Pearl / all 4 White Diamond Pearl / Parchment or Ebony
Ah....the I-VES is the overhead video. Hmmm...let me see...well...guess that would be a neat feature...but perhaps it doesn't fit in the TL roofline? Maybe that is the reason...who knows. At the same time....my kid doesn't watch videos while in the car....but keeps an eye on the road to know when to hang on for dear life as I whip around the corners.
Does anyone know if there is a way to make the Navigation system in the 2005 TL become a DVD player? I know it has DVD audio, but I am looking for DVD video. Thanks!!!
Thanks, elvis4prez and delmar1, for confiming. I finaly had a dealer out of the running confirm this information for '06; no Ebony interior on RR and DM. I have been scrambling to find an '05. None available within my area that have my first choice and only two with my second (not un-expected) so it will be hard to get a deal. I hope the dealers aren't watching this post. Boy I never saw this coming and I so wanted an '06.
Have you considered finding one out of your area? May be worth taking a vacation to take delivery and drive or ship it back to you home.
For instance...some folks up in Washington state have flown down to California to take delivery....and still are getting the car at a lower total cost than if they would have stayed in their state of WA.
I am looking for a new car in Canada. Looking at the G35x or M35x, maybe the new IS250 AWD (not out yet). I thought about the TL because I like the looks, but I can never get over the FWD! Even if it was RWD I would consider it with snows, but would prefer an AWD. Maybe no big deal in S. US but in Canada we need FWD or AWD to get thru snow. You can do it with RWD & snows but that is a hassel. I assume AWD would be great in rain as well.
I am not sure where I will go, but as a FWD Honda is not an issue. Probably great for a non driver but if you want to drive like I do you have to go RWD or AWD & turn it off when you want just RWD?
Where I live in Calagry, ALberta there are too many bimmers & they all look the same, 325i, 325xi, 330ci, 330xi, you get the pic? I think they are great cars but that body style has been around for so long & so many on the road, I don't want one, plus there are lots more money than the Acura or Infiniti. That being said I am starting to see lots of G35's around now! I will look at the Lexus IS250x but with only 200 hp I don't think I am interested. Everything 300ish these days to keep up...except the BMW's? Thanks
Could not agree more... you have to consider price too & you are getting up there with the 330xi & the new infinitiM35x (280hp) The M45 is 340 hp but no AWD
This past June I bought/financed a 2004 TL black on black NO Navi with only 6000 miles on it for 30k I was'nt in love with the color but I bought it figuring it was a good deal (was it) and I really wanted a TL I bought it.sorta jumped and did'nt think too much..I'm 25 and in college but LOVE the car...now only 3 months later I regret not getting the Navi and I regret not getting the silver or anthracite since I love the tinted windows look on a lighter car...my question is...I'm paying about 700 a month since I'm only 23 and had no credit so I didn't get a good rate...anyways...with the '06 coming up and I hear cool blue coming along with the navi...would I be crazy to trade up? I mean I just bought this one and is it way too much money more? I have 33k left to pay on my loan but they said they could rework the loan...anyways I need some honest advice...would I be crazy to think of getting an 06 for my 04 already? is it a really bad money decision?would I be throwing money away since I just bought the 04 and had to deal with all the charges? I'm really confused so I was hoping somoene can please help...I've been reading this board for a while so thanks. thanks Jason
It is probably going to cost you a LOT to get out of this car and into a new one, especially since you don't have much credit history and your interest rate is still likely to be very high. The best thing to do is to post the details about your trade-in vehicle over in our Real-World Trade-In Values discussion, and let the professionals tell you what you're likely to get for it. It will probably be significantly less than 33K, meaning you would have to roll the negative equity into your new vehicle financing. When te bank says they can "re-work" your loan, it still means you owe 33K. Your payments on a new TL could be sky-high.

I guess I'm a "non-driver" because I like the handling of the TL and it offers me all the HP I need. I guess you're a "non-driver" becasue you're only considering automatics, which, regardless of pushbutton, switch-flicking, paddle-pushing gimmicks, takes away even more of the "sportiness" than the FWD/RWD platform.
I agree with Pat. Think of what you're asking - you want to exchange a year old used car you bought 4 months ago for a new one and you want to know if it makes financial sense? The answer is "no." Make that "NO!!!!!" It rarely makes financial sense to buy a new car over used in the 1st place.
If you're gonna make the decision with your heart instead of your head, consider selling your car and getting another '04 with nav and the preferred color-combo. As an aside, black tint on a black car looks really cool. With tint, stay away from metallics if you have the nav, as I've heard metallics hinder the receipt of satelliete signals.
I'm Kirstie, but thanks for agreeing anyway, and I'll pass the message on to Pat that you also agree with her

New option of a 17' wheel available
