Basically paying invoice may not be the cheapest possible price, but it's certainly a very fair one! Congrats on the new vehicle... if you've taken delivery of it already, I think you're the first here to do so for an '07. So that's the new Harvest Gold, right? I haven't seen any pictures of that color... how does it compare to the previous gold?
  • rnitzrnitz Member Posts: 2
Yes, we drove the 07 Tribeca off the lot on July 4 - we love it.

The new Harvest gold is darker, more "goldish", and less "yellowish" than the previous gold color (Champagne ?). This looks a bit like the gold of the Lexus RX350 type of color. We liked the gold colors in general, but the 06 was too light and "yellowish" for our tastes. It was nice to find one on the lot.

Some other notes on the new model: the rear camera for backing up is a lot of fun. It's got tick marks to show the distance of items that are behind you. It's tempting to use it exclusively (for parking and stuff), but they warn you to also look, as the camera may be deceiving.

Still trying to plug an IPOD in to the aux port and learning how all of the other features work. It was so new, the dealership didn't know how all the stuff worked :) .

    Very cool! Congrats!

The old gold/champagne color seemed to have a bit of a greenish cast in certain light.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That sounds like a lot of fun. You can aim and hit the target every time.

The target being a tight parking spot, of course. ;)

I'm from Montreal and would like to buy a Tribeca from the US. I carefully read the instructions on the RIV site.

    1) Do I have to pay any sale taxes in the US?
    2) Do I need to have insurance before driving it back to Montreal (I guess yes.)?
    3) Any dealers recommended in Plattsburgh, Burlington or around.
    4) What modifications are needed on the Tribeca to comply with canadian regulation?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
I am going to purchase an 07 soon.
I want the beige leather int, so that limits me to the White, Gold and Seacrest Green.

I have seen the white and it looks nice.

Has anyone seen the gold or the Seacrest?

I WANT to like the Seacrest, but can't tell by the brochure.

Does anyone know if it is:
    More green?
    More Blue?
Or does it have a silvery tone to it?
Dose it look minty at all?
    Sorry for all the questions.

I want to decide on color so I can then take the best deal.
    Thanks

Just bought a 2006 Limited Platinum with dark gray leather interior. No factory or dealer installed options other than the Limited package. Stickered for 32980, got it for 29980 (before rebate). Will pay tax on 29980 but then got the 2000 rebate AND 4.9% for 72 months makes this $480 per month with zero down for 72 months. When I sell my 2000 Intrepid I will send entire amount to Subaru finance company. Any feedback regarding price paid would be appreciated.

We have been shopping for a mid-size SUV and have driven and quite liked the Tribeca. However, the ridiculously high Cdn pricing has put us off. Is there anyone from Subaru corporate lurking here that can explain why a base 7-passenger B-9 is 20 percent higher in Canada than the US after converting the dollars? This is without destination/freight/PDI, which itself is almost exactly double in equivalent dollars, notwithstanding that we are only 230 miles farther from Lafayette than some place such as Great Falls Montana. I don't believe that the difference is at the dealer end, as Canadian invoice on a 7-passenger basic is CAD42,047, or USD36,842 at current rates.

Pretty frustrating when we see that our US friends are buying Ltds with navigation for that or less. We won't be buying at these differentials.

Have you thought about purchasing from a U.S. dealer? Sounds like it's relatively easy, a little paperwork and patience could save you thousands and thousands. Here's some good info about it:
    http://www.cars101.com/canada.html

A base model 7-pass invoice, minus $2500 rebates, is $28,500 (US). I bet you could get one for $27,000, a huge difference over Canadian prices. For example, Fitzmall has a 7-pass Limited with NAV for just over $30,000.

I got a 2006 5 psgr Ltd with puddle lights, mirror w/compass, wheel locks for $27572 from Fitzmall. Nice so far, wish it had an outlet in the dash for my radar detector but I love that the rear seats slide back...room for car seats without having to buy a minivan.
  • tibbatibba Member Posts: 13
    1. you will not be required to pay US tax. You will need evidence of your Canadian residency... driver's license, etc., I took my passport.
    2. yes, you will need insurance!!! talk to your insurance company and provide them details of the new car including VIN #. You should have coverage from the moment you take possesion. Check also regarding license plate. e.g., Alberta license plates can be transferred on another vehicle for upto 15 days for transit without having to inform the registry.
    3. I don't know
    4. None

You will only pay GST at the border. Tribeca is made in the US.

whats good price including dest. for the car spec listed above? can you get these for a good amount under invoice pre 2000 dollar rebate? :confuse:
  • occkingoccking Member Posts: 346
Have been on the fance for quite some time, but bit the bullet today. Got 06 Tribeca 7 pass limited with nav, $26,350 with 10,000 miles on it. I realize for perhaps $4000 more or so could have gotten a new one (list on this exact model is $35,700 approx. What swung the deal was I got back $3000 more for my 05 Outback in trade than any other dealers.

Hope I did the right thing. Praying I will get highway mileage at least close to the 23 indicated on the sticker. Any & all comments would be appreciated.

Your deal sounds good to me. As for you MPG - That is the one thing that has disappointed me so far with the car. Just came back from a trip to the shore, car was load with 5 passengers and a luggage carrier - MPG was 18.3 - Maybe it was my driving habits. I was using the middle grade of gas on the trip. Maybe I would have done better with the highest grade of gas.

I have the "Gold" Nice color and it hides the dirt pretty well. Have received nice compliments.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That sounds great. The original owner took the biggest depreciation hit and you have a virtually new 'beca. I bet the engine isn't even fully broken in.

I may have to look at that option. Wifey is pushing for me to get a vehicle bigger than the Forester.

Wifey is pushing for me to get a vehicle bigger than the Forester.

Stopped by FitzMall Gathersburg on Saturday, and on their Middlebrook Road storage lot, they had a new '07 gold Outback 2.5i Basic with steelies 5-speed manual, for a bit over 21K MSRP IIRC.

I consider the OB the same size, at least in terms of useful space, as the Forester.

I have $600 Subaru Bucks so that helps. Maybe when the 07 'becas are on clearance, or a lightly used one as in the deal above.

    Hi All,
I just bought a 5 passenger Limited with Nav.

I got a great price from Grand Subaru in Chicago.
They were easy to deal with. Nice guys.

They have an online guy who quoted me a good price and stuck to it when I arrived.

I got the Pearl white with Beige leather.
    It is really cool.

I have NEVER seen a Tribeca on the road.

    Happy shopping.

Don't loose the joy of the car by wondering if you got the best deal.
    Don't question yourself-
don't look back on things that you cannot change.

    ENJOY your new car.
    I just bought an 07

    I love it.

Update... I was the one that got the demo Tribeca last Saturday. Here we are, Monday evening, or rather earlyTuesday morning, & I just came back from trip to Quebec (from Prov Ri area) 860 miles, mpg per trip computer was 23.7, actual mileage (I filled it to the brim each time so I know my calculations very accurate) was 23.2, so I am quite pleased. For the most part drive around 70 on the highway & have avoided jackrabbit starts (well, I had to try it a few times)

AFter coming out of a 05 Outback with the 4 cylinder non-turbo, this car seems like a jet to me! I have read a lot of complaints about the power in this vehicle, I certainly have no complaints. Particular while going aroound 40 or 50 & you want to pass someone.

Love the Nav system although it does have some idiosyncracies (don't ask me how to spell that word). Many more features than on the GArmin Street Pilot I had. But, it kept telling me my trip from Montreal home, although it gave accurate mileage of approx 360 kept telling me it was a 8 hour trip, and I have driven is many times & less than 6 hours. Other than that a nice toy & I will get a lot of use out of it. Works great in Canada, much better than the GArmin.

I want to buy an 07 7 seat limited tribeca, with dvd and nav. Dealer quoted me invoice plus $550 (costco deal) and I got him to take off $1250 for the marketing support dealer kickback. Which brings to price to $36, 079. (I know the good deals are on the 06 right now, but no dealer near me has a white one, and also they don't have back up cameras.) Is this a good price? I got them to hold it until Wed. claiming my husband needs to see it and he's out of town. If it matters, I'm in southern California.
    Thanks, -Krista

Bought an 06 7 seater with DVD nav for $30,700 after $2,500 rebate. Do the math and figure out how much you want to pay for 07.
  • morey000morey000 Member Posts: 386
Wow. You got a great deal. 7-seat, DVD Nav for $30.7.
The MSRP on that is ~$39K with an invoice price of ~$36K.

Of course, there's a bit of difference when you go to resell the vehicle in a few years. The '07 will probably be worth a $1k or $2k more than the '06. But if you're talking $6-$7K difference right now, you're right- it's not worth it at all. You can install a backup camera for a lot less, and live without seat memories.
  • jeffmcjeffmc Member Posts: 1,742
... and live without a real cargo cover, aux input, XM capability, roll-over sensor for the airbags, brake assist and re-tuned suspension/rear stabilizer. It all adds up. Is it worth $6k? Well, that's up to each.
  • jafotomjafotom Member Posts: 2
Has anyone heard of a the Tribeca catching on fire? I know someone who purchased one & 2 weeks later the center console burned. Car was park & unoccupied. They went out to car & found center console & seats burned right at the cup holder. Inside the center console box there is 2 outlets for a/c adapters & the body of the adapters are under the cup holder. My friend call Subaru customer service & asked that a technical rep inspect this car & they refused to help my friend in any way. They said go thru your insurance. I would be afraid to park this car in my garage & it starts on fire.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That should be reported to the insurance company first and then the NHTSA.

It's the first case of fire we've seen on a 'beca so there's no pattern here, but if the NHTSA eventually finds one they can force a recall.

Hopefully the insurance company can investigate the case. I hope your friend doens't have enemies capable of that. :(

I ditched my cargo cover anyway, and aux input would be useful if I had an iPod but I don't. :D

XM - nah, I'm not ready to pay for radio, at least not yet.

Air bags I hope to never use, what's the upgrade exactly anyway?

Brake assist can be good or bad, I hate Mercedes brakes for instance. They feel very unnatural and non-linear. Suspension also, could or could not be a real improvement.

I think these things are minor. It's the same body, engine, transmission, only a few tweaks here and there. I actually think the memory seats and rear cam are more useful.

  • beanandmebeanandme Member Posts: 26
To me, the upgrades on the 07 are worth the extra money. But what I was wondering is, has anyone bought an 07 with 3rd row, nav and dvd? I'm still wondering if $35,079 is a good price, or if I can do better. (keeping the same model)
    Thanks-Krista
  • jafotomjafotom Member Posts: 2
The insurance copy estimated approx 8k & they sent out an expert but could not determine exact cause of fire.
  • alexk2alexk2 Member Posts: 6
Dealer cost of this model is $34,270 (which includes $625 destination fee)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
If you can wait, I think you'll get a better deal in a short while. The 07s are hot off the carriers. Seems like the dealer is about $800 over invoice, and invoice was fairly easy to get on the 06s.

Then again, if you need a new car now, the price isn't going to drop enough to offset renting something else until prices do drop.

The invoice the dealer showed me said $35, 776 (including pudle lights and auto dimming mirror). The Costco program is $550 over invoice. Why is their "invoice" higher? I checked Edmunds, and the price they showed me matches with the Edmunds invoice price. Is your figure from another source? Thanks : )
  • jeffmcjeffmc Member Posts: 1,742
Krista - you can find invoice on all B9 Tribecas here:
    http://www.cars101.com/subaru/tribeca/tribeca2007.html#price
Keep scrolling down that page and you'll also find invoice price for most of the available accessories/options.

Are you in New England, by chance? That may explain the invoice price difference. Subaru of New England tacks on an additional charge.

p.s. My wife's name is Krista, too! Not all that common to see. :)
  • tyyeh0tyyeh0 Member Posts: 43
From what I read before on this forum, it seems that Subaru's VIP program allows you to buy the vehicle at invoice + any dealer incentives right?

I see on edmunds that there's a $1250 marketing incentive in the form of cash to the dealer. So would I get this incentive also if I go through the VIP program?

any informed comments would be greatly appreciated.
  • beanandmebeanandme Member Posts: 26
    Jeff-
Thanks for the website link. That price is what I'm paying, once you add the puddle lights and auto dimming mirror. So I'm getting the car for $700 under invoice, which sounds good to me. :)
I'm not in New England, I'm in California- which makes me crazy for buying this car, since I'll be paying $3.35 a gallon for premium gas. But I love the shape and interior finish of the Tribeca. Where else do you get so much style in a 7 seater?

ps- Hi to the other Krista. Yes, we're a rare breed!
  • jeffmcjeffmc Member Posts: 1,742
$700 under invoice sounds pretty good for an '07. I bet you could eke out a few hundred more if you want to barter for it... maybe offer to buy it on the spot if they offer $1000 under? They still make a fair profit, and you can put that extra $300 toward your first few months of gas or tinting the windows (practically a must in CA?). If they don't take your offer, you're no worse off, so it's worth a shot.
  • tyyeh0tyyeh0 Member Posts: 43
    Hi,

Can I ask where you are getting the $700 under invoice quote? I am southern cal, and I am looking to purchase an 07 soon.

    thx
  • morey000morey000 Member Posts: 386
I see on Edmunds that SOA is offering dealers $1250 in marketing incentive until Sept 5th. Granted, nobody can predict the future of what SOA will do- but I'm interested in buying a 'Beca in Oct/Nov timeframe. Is it reasonable to expect that the deals might be even better then? What has Subie done in the past. (this will be my first Subie.)
  • beanandmebeanandme Member Posts: 26
$700 under invoice reflects invoice plus $550, which is the Costco member deal, and then an additional discount of $1250 to reflect the dealer marketing support. If you are a costco member, they'll give you the invoice + $550 deal automatically, but I had to argue for awhile before they'd give me the -$1250. They claimed to have "never heard of marketing support". My slaesman claimed to be asking different departments, and pretended to misunderstand that I meant Edmunds was offering the money. It was a bit irritating. But I held out, and they eventually agreed to pass it on to me. I worked with South Coast Subaru in Costa Mesa, CA. But the Costco website will show you which dealers in your area participate in the Costco program if you click on services, then auto buying program. Good luck!
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Generally they keep renewing the programs at the same level of incentive, and boost them up a month or two before the next model year models arrive. I can't recall a time when they dropped all incentives during a model year. That usually only happens when a popular new update comes out.

VIP - given it's easy to get that price on your own, you may not need to go through the trouble of qualifying for VIP. It does take all the haggling out of the equation if you don't like haggling.

    Hi Al
If anyone is interested I got a great deal on a 5 passenger 07.
Below invoice with Nav/back up mirror.
Let me know and I will give you the dealer name.

Does anyone have the sunroof/moonroof deflector?
    Does it look ok?

How about the bumper protective moldings.

    I love this car.

yup, that's the point of this forum. Please let us know the MSRP, Invoice and price you paid (without tax, and License fees). You are allowed to identify the dealership, but just not individual salespeople.

The $ for the 06 models in Aug. were great because around here they were trying to clear out for the o7's. I just want a 5 pass. base. I can't stand leather, nor do I need to have 6CDplayer etc... that comes with the limited. I went to Fitzgerald Auto Mall & had a great experience.

So for an 07, Base 5 pass.
    MSRP was $30,728
    Invoice was $29,003
Delivered was $27,553- plus I asked for a full tank of gas since on our test drive we ran out. Long story there.
Of course there are Taxes, tags, processing fee but in total with all fee's it was under $30,000. Needless to say we are soooo happy with our choice. It was a long drawn out couple of months searching for a vehicle that met our basic needs of fitting a man that is 6'6", 1 rear facing baby seat (these things are huge), & 3 dogs that needed to go in a kennel. After that search was for $ & reliabilty for long term which we know Subaru is great. I am very happy to say that if you are over 6'5" the Subaru B9 hits a homer & the only vehicle my husband sat in that he didn't have to struggle to get around the steering wheel & the very nice lines of the console, fit beautifully so he can rest his leg (very important feature for the tall human's.

Anyway, Fitgerald Auto malls is a "NO Haggle" & I love that. They had $2,000 rebates on the last 06 but I was a couple days too late.

    OK here goes.

I bought an 07, 5 passenger Limited with Nav'backup-screen, XM, Auto dimming mirror with compass for $31, 795.00
That included delivery but not tax.

I got the pearl White with Beige leather.
I traded an 2002 Acura TL.
HE gave me Kelly Blue book good condition.

Nice guys, easy to work with. Online deal that they backed.
    Woody's Grand Subaru, Bensenville, IL {CHICAGO burb}

    Sticker was $35, 700

They did not have the car, but got if for me the next day in Joliet.

I don't think there are many 07's out there yet.
I still have not seen one.

I have had several nice cars, this one gets the most "What is that Car? " look.

    I love it!!!

Good Luck, I f I can help let me know.
