    For as long as I can remember, going back to our 1964 Impala Wagon, I think, GM defrosters automatically turn on the AC compressor (on AC-equiped vehicles) to speed defrosting the front window.

    I never understood why the Japanese makes didn't automatically do that too. I guess its easier to produce that way.

    Well, picked up my 2500HD/6.0/4x4/Ext. Cab last night. I love it. Took it and had Michelin's put on it and turned in my Firestones. I hope they don't go bankrupt before I get my check in 12 weeks or whatever. Truck is awesome! Haven't really hammered it yet. Trying to take it easy on it a little. But the temptation is getting tough! It is all I have ever wanted in a truck. My wife damn near has to use a ladder to get into it. Westin still hasn't released the steps for the HD's yet. Oh well, thanks for all the great information and support. I am finally an actual Silverado owner, not just an interested poster. It feels great too! Later.

    It is correct that GM vehicles usually turn on the AC with the defroster. This dehumidifies the air and helps remove the moisture from the windshield and windows. I believe my wife's Mercury does the same thing.

    I've never seen dog dishes raised up like that. Why not put them on the floor? Does Collin have arthritis or something that inhibits his range of motion?

    I've seen cat dishes up high (so the dog didn't eat it) but never a table for the dog.

    My mom read somewhere it is better for them to have it up high like that it makes for easier digesting. Kinda wierd to me but it is supposed to help. Damn dogg after he take his food lowers his head and drops half of it on the floor so its kinda pointless anyways.

    Also did u notice the dog gumball machine??? It has a bone you hit and treats fall out of it like a gumball machine? He loves that thing. It was easy to train him to do that.

    Also you can make your hand into a gun you know thumb up index finger out and say BANG and he will do a circle then fall over. Its funny.

    Also he walks about 2-3 mls a day and in the summer swims 2-3 times a day hes in great shape. So dean hes not seniale.

    How did you get them to buy back steeltex's??? I assume that is what tire was on it since it's a 3/4 ton. What did they give you for them, i would love to dump my steeltex's and get some BFG's on it, but i don't want to dump the $600 when these tires are not even half gone.

    I knew you had a silverado, I have seen the picks, I meant to say GM's but anyways your dod sounds like alot of fun, can't wait till I get mine. He will make hunting season alot more fun. Two more days until Deer Season (Starts Friday)!!!

    It says they will replace tires that are not on the recall list. Furthermore, I called the 1-800 number listed in that document, and they told me it didn't matter what model tires they were, they'd pro-rate them up to $100 a piece. Now, I have to send in the form tonight and wait and see. There is a chance I suppose that they won't give me the $500, but I figured that if I couldn't afford the michelins, without the buyback, then I had no business buying a $30k+ truck.

    You may have to go to a couple different Firestone stores. The first one I went to the guy wouldn't budge on the policy, even though I had the above document printed out for him to look at. The second place told me, "No problem," three weeks ago, but did give me a little hassle last night until finally giving in. Good luck.

    What side Michelins and What Model and Load Range. According to the Michelin Web site they don't make a 265 tire in the load range E. But I saw a set of the M/S on a Dodge In E at the power launch tour. If I get a HD I have got to get 265x75R16 Michelin LTX AT lrE for it, but C's wont cut it. the LTX AT is the best tire on the market and I don't want those wimpy 245 on that big of a truck. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I guess 265's would like a .5" wider rim than the HD has but ought to work ok.

    that whole life thing been keepin' me busy lately. but thanks for asking! i was at fort knox this weekend throwing some cold ones down with a couple old buds of mine.

    funny story from my trip. understand, i've seen very few tundras on the road since i've had my truck. i would estimate less than 50 in 10 months. nor have i ever had the opportunity to be sitting side by side at a stop light, empty road in front of us, with a comparably-equipped, competing-brand truck. so, you can imagine my joy when sitting at a light on 31w, just south of radcliff after 8 hours of driving (including some ugly thunderstorms coming through the s-curves of the smokies) this guy pulls up next to me in a tundra. he motions for me to put my window down and says, "what size engine you have?" i told him it was a 5.3. he smiles and says, "i ain't dusted one of them yet, you think you can hang?" i grinned and nodded. two minutes prior i was looking forward to nothing more than a cold beer, some pizza, and a soft couch. everything changed. it had rained earlier in the day where we were and the roads were damp, so i still had the auto-trac engaged. well, apparently he didn't have his in 4wd because the light changed and we both hammered it. i launched through the intersection without so much as a squeal and immediately let off the gas to watch him. he broke his loose as soon as he hit the gas and sat there spinning until one wheel caught and launched his truck into the grass median. he didn't wreck or anything...just kinda skidded down into the grass a bit. i had to pull off onto the shoulder - i was laughing so hard i was crying and couldn't see a damn thing. as i was sitting on the shoulder, he got back on the road and took off, waving me the ole "single-finger salute" on his way by. i was dying! anyways...that was about the extent of my excitement for the weekend.

    truck handled great coming through the mountains with autotrac. anyone who's traveled I-40 through the smokies in tennessee and north carolina knows how challenging a drive that can be. imagine doing it in a driving rain...i know i can't imagine having to drive that in the snow. i think it would be easy if it was just me on the road in my truck - it's all the other idiots on the road that scare the heck outta ya.

    Did you have Firestone dealer look at your NEW Firestone tires before you had your Michelins mounted then just take the bare F-Tires back for refund credit form?? or did he sell the Michelins also??

    I'd be a little concerned having the Firestone dealer mount the New tires even if I bought them from that dealer if he was a little 'p##### off'.

    I am unclear about the tire recall. Does the recall apply to the SteelTex radial as well? I have 245x75R16 lrE SteelTex's on my Y2K 2500 (approx. 5k miles) and would luv to get Michelin's to replace them with.

    You are out of pocket on the Michelin's until you get the check from Firestone, right?

    Any info or thoughts would be appreciated.

    I used to have a neighbor who had a Golden; knew the dog from when he was a few months old until I moved ten years later. All the time I knew him, he acted the same. The biggest, sweetest-tempered ten-year-old PUPPY you'd ever meet. Another neighbor had five girls who helped keep "Otis" in doggy heaven, constantly playing with him.

    Silverado Concept Pickup Truck Introduced at SEMA Chevrolet and Kawasaki/Fox Racing helped design a special Silverado pickup truck introduced at this year's SEMA show.
    The Fox Silverado should be of great interest to trailerists since it provides tool storage in both box side walls and has a built-in Auragen 5,000-watt generator. The truck is powered by a 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 engine with a Whipple Supercharger that produces 429 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque. Gibson exhaust headers and Flowmaster mufflers add performance. Power goes to all four wheels via an H-D four-speed automatic transmission.

    The four-door crew cab Fox Silverado’s floor and seat materials can be easily cleaned with a garden hose. Assisting the driver is an in-dash Delphi GPS unit, and OnStar controls are integrated into the rear-view mirror. Additionally, dual sunroofs create an open-air riding experience for all passengers. The electrochromic rear-view Gentex mirrors automatically dim when a vehicle approaches from the rear. The Gentext mirrors also feature integrated turn-signal indicators.

    Don't worry about taking to much flak from Tim, he's a little off on his theory that bigger tires mean you loose cargo capacity, that simply is not true, I don't know about your specific tires specs, but i know that this is not true for all tires. I use my 2500 as a truck, i plan on going to the BFG all terrains KO's lt285/75r16d They infact will have a higher weight rating, at a lower PSI and load rating,can't beat that.

    lt245/75r16e BFG AT KO max weight rating:

    3042 lbs@80psi

    lt 285/75r16d BFG AT KO max weight rating:

    3305 lbs@65psi
    Lower tire pressure will give me a little better ride, plus i will pick up another 1052 lbs of capacity, and i also get a additional 1/32nd of tread depth to use. The only downside will be the lost power fom the heavier tires.

    "Tireguy" over in the "Tires, tires, tires" topic of Aftermarket & Accessories set me straight on this. "Load range" actually refers to what they used to call ply-rating: a higher "load range" means more plys, or a tougher-to-puncture tire. "Weight rating" is based on the amount of air the tire can hold; at the same pressure, a bigger tire can hold more air than a smaller tire, or, to put it another way, a smaller tire needs the air to be under higher pressure to hold the same amount.

    Thus, a 245/16 "E" tire needs to put its air under 80lbs. to have the same weight rating as a 265/16 "D" tire at 65lbs., but the "E" tire should be able to handle it because it has more plys.

    I have learned that Netscape is not very freindly for this application. I know what you mean about right click, and properties, but it does not work withthe version of netscape i have. I fired up my IE4.0 and sure enought i can right click and get the address.

    the guy used a stencil. first he sprayed the line-x in then he used a stencil a little bigger than the logo. the way he described it was the over spray is what creates the texture in the line-x liner, with the stencil in place they only make one pass which he called a wet pass (ie no over spray), which gives it the wet look, which is what u see in the photo.

    bco- ryan posted pic of my line-x thought u might be interested, the logo was an afterthought, but i like it.
