    Hey all,

I'm in TX and have negotiated the following deal:

MSRP $47,275 (Sport pkg, Driver assist pkg, Premium pkg, + Nav)
    Cap Costs $42,200
    USAA Rebate -$500
    BMW Loyalty -$500
    MF .00125 - 7 MSD = .00076
    36 month 15k/yr
0 down other than first payment and such
    Payment $462

Its a little more car than I wanted... I'm going to ask they throw in tint.
  • zgcorbinzgcorbin Member Posts: 8
I should add it is 2014 with a .58 RV and TX state tax is 6.25% which is in the payment.
  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196
If your model offers conquest cash, then you are eligible for it. I think you have a good deal, based on your numbers. I ran your numbers thru the calculator and was off too. Without seeing all the numbers, I know I just guessed on some of them.

    Hi kona,
    which numbers are missing?

    For a 2014 328i I've been offered.
    MF: .00125
    Residual: 61%
    32month/ 10k miles.

The Cap cost is already ~6k less than MSRP.
MSRP: 48900 ( includes $200 less for pre 10/2013 car)
    Selling Price: 42945.

Lic.Reg+Bank+Doc fee: 414+725+80 (due at drive off with 1st month payment)
    Monthly: 455.30+tax($40.98). = $496.28
    Drive off: $1787.73

Great board. Here's the offer currently have in Ohio:

    320i Xdrive:

    For a 2014 320i I've been offered.
    MF: .00125
    Residual: 63%
    36month/ 12k miles

    MSRP: 39070
Selling Price: 37692 (includes $500 Holiday Cash and $500 USAA rebate)

Lic.Reg+Bank+Doc fee: due at drive off
    Monthly: 344+tax
    Cap cost pymt: $3700

Also have 39 month/12k miles with same terms for $342+tax

I don't think they are in the right place for selling price and the cap cost pymt is too high.

    Advice, comments and tips appreciated.

    Thanks.
  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196
Not a very good selling price.....you are paying almost full Msrp for the car, only about $400 less, before incentives. Remember the incentives don't cost the dealer anything and should only be included after the negotiated price. I would shoot for about $500 over invoice, then subtract the incentives.

the best way to get a good deal, is to email dealers in your area, with an offer of $500 over invoice, minus incentives. You lose negotiating leverage when they have you at the dealership.

Yikes, you are also putting down way too much money on a lease. You would be much better served to put down multiple security deposits (MSD) to lower the money factor. For each MSD, it lowers the mf by .0007, the max is 7 msd's for a reduction of .00049. This should save you about $40 per month in payments, best of all you get the money back at the end of the lease, unless the car is damaged or over the allotted miles. Plus, if the car is stolen or totaled you still get your deposits back.

    Hi kona,

Please take a look at my previous post. Could you tell which numbers are missing?

I have another quote from a different dealer.
    2014 328i Msport
    MSRP $48,325
    selling price $45,300
    36month 10k per year
    residual 61%
    money factor 0.00125

    drive off $1042.73

    Monthly: 562.14+ tax

Sale price is at invoice. Not willing to go any lower :(
  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196
I think I was inquiring about what you were coming out of pocket and what rebates/incentives you were using. I came up with exactly $562 your latest deal, but that was including AZ tax. I used $500 in DMV & doc and gave you the $750 conquest cash.
  • arai30arai30 Member Posts: 18
    Hey kona
I dont think I will be going with the guy offering the latest quote, he wasnt willing to give me detailed quote splitting each item. His fees are just $1000 and he isnt going as low as Greg on the sale price. He is offering me:

    MSRP:$48,325
    selling price $44,881
    bank fee $925
    docu fee $80
    residual 61%
    money factor 0.00125 OAC
    residual $29478.25
    drive off $1042
    payment $549.60+ tax

There is something off here. No registration fee? And his spec is too damn high. 328i MSport, ZDA, ZLP, Comfort package, Nav package, HK Audio, Sport transmission with paddles. The cost doesnt add up to the MSRP.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I think I might go for:
    MSRP: $48,900.00
    SELLING PRICE: $42,945.00
    Term 36 Months
    Mileage 10,000/year
    Money Factor 1.25
    Residual Factor 61%
    Residual Value $29,829.00
    Monthly Depreciation $364.33
    Monthly Rent $90.97

    License & Registration $414.00
    Bank Fee $725.00
    Documentation Fee $80.00
    First Payment $496.28
    Security Deposit $0.00
    Drive Off $1,787.73

    Monthly Payment $455.30
    Tax (9%) $40.98
    Monthly Payment + Tax $496.28

I will do MSDs to get this lower. Also trying to get the cap cost lower.
He hasnt applied conquest cash for my Infiniti. No answer on if its eligible.

What do you think should be an agreeable amount?
  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196
I am not sure which year and model you are referring too. However, I think the deal with Greg is the way to go....I am not sure if the 2013 model qualifies for conquest cash. This deal looks solid to me. I would check regarding dmv and monthly taxes, to make sure he uses AZ rates.
  • arai30arai30 Member Posts: 18
    Hey Kona,
The 2nd one, Monthly Payment $455.30
    Monthly Payment + Tax $496.28

    This is Greg's quote.
Its a 2014 328i Msport. He's unable to get me what I exactly want, so this is the closet.
He has told me AZ rates will be charged (8.ish instead of 9%) and also AZ DMV in the same fee.

    No response since Wednesday :(

    Is this a good deal?
    14 320 xi
Navigation. Lighting . Sport pack. Cold weather . Power seats moon roof.
    39 months 10k a year.
    450 per month tax in.
    600 due at signing.
I'd like to be a little lower. Do I have room?
  • saucemangsaucemang Member Posts: 24

I heard the Dec. residuals and factory cash changed, does anyone have them for a 36mo/10kyr?:

    2013 328xi 335xi

    2014 328xi 335xi
  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196
I would roll with the last deal if you want a 2014 model. I think that with the discount he gave you on the car, I don't think you could really do better, other than ordering exactly what you want and doing a European Delivery.

Good? should i go for it?
  • arai30arai30 Member Posts: 18
Looks like a good deal to me. ~$6k below MSRP. I am currently offered lesser than that :(

Try plugging in your numbers in a carlease calculator.

    Numbers look good to me.

Your's is the perfect build I am looking for. Care to share which area you are in?
  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196
Looks pretty good, just missing a couple of things, what is your money factor and acquisition fee? Also, the drive off sounds a little high, unless you are either pre paying taxes or de capping the lease. You should look into MSD's, multiple security deposits. For each MSD, it lowers the money factor by .0007, you can put down a total of 7 MSD's and it will be a reduction of .00049, which equates to a lower monthly payment by $35 to $45. Best of all you get your money back at the end of lease and there is no risk of losing it due to theft or total loss of car
  • carshopper92carshopper92 Member Posts: 5
    money factor =1.25
    10k/36 mon

    bank fee=725

i just paid extra down so bring down the payment...
  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196
I would recommend against paying the extra down to bring the payment down. This is a lease and once you leave the lot, if anything happens to the car, you are out the down payment. Whatever you are putting down to de cap, use it toward MSD's. For each $450 MSD, it lowers your money factor by .0007, if you plug the number into the lease calculator on this forum, it is easy to figure out. You could even email your CA and request to re calculate the deal, take out the de cap and do the MSD's instead. It rounds up to the nearest $50 increment. So, for you either $450 or $400 per MSD. It is really a good return on your money. I did on my lease and saved about $40 per month, amounts to about $1400 over the lease.

Was wondering if this is a good deal? 2014 335X drive, Estoril blue, black interior, nav, heated seats, premium. MSRP: 54825, negotiated price of 49500. lease of 36/12k of $545/month with 2232 first payment (includes first month+taxes+title+doc+registration). putting MSD down as well. Total Cost of lease comes out to 21307.

  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196

The Sell price is okay....but you are leaving out info, what is the money factor, acquisition fee. As far as assuming a lease, thru BMW FS, you submit an application with a $500 fee, of which $400 is refundable if they turn you down. The car is under warranty throughout the lease, so shouldn't really be any issues. But, I would do a careful inspection, for you will be liable for damage or excess miles, at lease's end..

  • dococtdococt Member Posts: 4

The first lease deals was for a new 2014 car with a MF of 0.00125 and with the MSD it reduces to 0.00076 which comes out to a APR of 1.8%.. I rolled the taxes aquisition fee, doc, title into and first month payment into 2232. Thanks for your input.

  • dduran1dduran1 Member Posts: 7

Looking for some insight on 320i deals. Haven;t seen much discussion on this thread recently.

Looking at a '14 320i, with sport and lighting. MSRP 36,5xx.

What deals have you all got? I have top tier and will likely put MSDs down as well. I see the advertised deal at 279/.month, but assume there are better deals to be had, correct?

    Please advise, and thank you.

  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196

dduran1..the advertised deals are crap and require dealer participation. Plus you have to de cap the lease. They want over $5k down...you never want to put money down on a lease.

  • dduran1dduran1 Member Posts: 7

    Thanks all.

Definitely know to never put money down, but wanted to see what other deals are out there. mdc99 looks about right. A California dealer offered $750 below invoice, but I am waiting to see the numbers. Thanks all.

Yep, they took you....that is why I try to give good advice about leasing.... That is why, when you go into the dealer, it is so important to know all of the terms of the deal.... I don't know when you closed your deal, but you could contact your CA and let them know how unhappy you are regarding the jacked up money factor. Remember, the dealer survey is very important to these guys. Also, you could try this tact too...(if you have the cash) Ask him point blank why you weren't informed about the option to put down Multiple Security Deposits, to lower your MF and save you money.. Tell him you want to a new contract base mf, with MSD's.. it never hurts to ask.

  • konacougkonacoug Member Posts: 196

dduran1 pretty solid deal...I think you might of gotten the selling price a little lower, especially, if you emailed the deal around. But, all in all not bad...

Looking to lease a 3 series and a local BMW dealer in NYC is telling me that is a $600 bank fee. I know acquisition fee of $725 exists but bank fee? Anyone know about this?

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,175

The bank fee and acquisition fee are synonymous... You can't really have both. If they quote a bank fee under $725, I'd worry about a 3rd party leasing company (especially in NYC for some reason).

If they want a bank fee and and acquisition fee, they are just ----- you..

Anyone know how the rent is actually calculated?

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,175

The rent charge is the finance portion of the lease.

Add the CAP cost and the residual, then multiply by the money factor, and that is your monthly rent charge. Multiply that by the number of months for the total rent charge.

Hi, need help on evaluating whether my lease payment offer is a fair deal.

    Here are the details:
BMW 335x drive, Cold weather package, premium package, tech package, M-package, MSRP $57,450 (including 925 destination charge)

    Selling price 51,805
    36 months
    15,000 miles per year
    $5,000 down payment
Residual 57% (seems low to me)
Money factor 0.00135 (seems high to me)
Tax rate 7.25 paid in state of Illinois which applies to full sales price

Monthly lease payment $599, including sales tax of approximately $104
Is this a good deal or should I continue to shop around?

As far as I know 10k miles gives you 65% residual and the sales person told me that "yes" residual is lower with higher mileage. Money factor is NYC area is .00130 so that's like 3.12% and yours in equivalent to 3.24%. Sorry but that's all I understand. Of course, never hurts to shop around more.

Bad idea to de cap a lease, to lower your payment. Once you drive off the lot, if anything happens to the car, ie, wrecked, stolen etc, you have lost all of your down payment.

It is much better to use Multiple security deposits, for each one it lowers the money factor by .0007 and you can put down a total of 7 MSD's, for a total reduction of .00049. They have jacked up the base money factor a little by .0005. This will lower your monthly payment by about $50 per month.

Also, you may wish to consider going for lower miles, the residual will go up and later, at any time prior to lease expiration you can buy more miles at 0.16 per mile, which is cheaper than taking the hit on the residual. The selling price looks pretty good.
