I was told that Hyundai is going to offer .09% financing on the XG because of sluggish sales. It is a nice car but it think that the market has not found it yet.
Things are a bit tough in this area but it also depends on what options you want or need.
I'm in the Cape Canaveral area and had no trouble at all finding the LX my wife wanted. As to paying invoice I don't think that's going happen here.
MSRP is about as good as it gets and to do that I would probably say you would have to go to Mouse Town to do it. Bob Dance Hyudai would be about the only dealer there that will sell for MSRP.
I walked out with the FWD LX for $200.00 over and that's with tax / title transfer fees included. Not really a bad deal for the value you get in return. ( That was in Cooca by the way.)
If the wife ever parks the bloody thing I'll install the dash kit I have sitting in my shop.
Where did you end up going anyway? Not the dealer, just the area? Curious is all don't answer if you don't want to.

I'm into my fourth week of waiting for my black GLS w/ABS, it's driving me crazy. We just had a bad (surprise) 10 inches of snow in the Philly area and there I was without my SF!
1. Has anyone installed the Climate Control system off hdkautosport.com? If so, does it work good? And what becomes of the old knobs?
2. If I were to buy the wood dash trim for the Santa Fe, but wanted to install the climate control, how would I get a wood piece to fit the climate control instead of the standard knobs?
3. Does anyone know what, exactly, the digital multimeter does? Is that available at hdkautosport.com??
4. Last one... why didn't the U.S. versions come with the climate control and digital multimeter on them?
Thanks again in advance. I've done so much research on SUV's (Pathfinder, Highlander, 4Runner, CRV, RAV4, etc.) and I'm really impressed with the Santa Fe. It really stacks up with those models and the price is very hard to beat.
As for the limited slip differential, let's just say that it helps your vehicle to keep moving if only one of the rear wheels has traction. Without the LSD, your vehicle could get stuck if one of the rear wheels does not have traction. You may be interested in Townhall's 4WD systems vs AWD systems discussion topic. FYI, the Sante Fe has full-time AWD.

Like many of you here, we had to travel out of our area to get our SF. The dealer we worked with added their usual dealer ad decal right beneath (no space) the Hyundai Name on the back. I think it looks really tacky and I'm wondering if any of you have ever removed one of these things? If so, how did you do it w/out ruining the paint?
I don't know what's been more fun: driving my SF or talking about it w/ you all. OK, driving is a little more fun. We are comming up on 3000 miles and I can't believe it's only been a month. My husband has only put on about 20 of those miles because I won't give it up. Funny, he never wanted to drive any of my new cars! However, this is the first purchase I made pretty much on my own and all of his friends who laughed in the begining at owning a Hyundai - aren't laughing much anymore. Chalk one up for this mom.
Removing stickers, labels, decals...

Being that the Santa Fe is new, we do not truely know how they are going to retain their value. For instance, if you go to Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com), they are not able to provide any book values for the Santa Fe yet.
The financial institutions that are providing the lease agreement for the Santa Fe has to make an intelligent prediction on how the resale value is going to hold up at this point to determine your lease cost.
You other option - purchase rather than lease. Compare your costs.
Thanks,
Mike
1. The seat belt in the rear seats.
2. The plastic hooks for the cargo net under the rear seats, fold the rear seats to see it. Inside and under.
3. The Jack in the rear trunk right behind the rear seats. Hide under the carpet cargo liner.
4. First Aide Kit
Last time I was just adjust the rear seat belts. Yesterday I went to adjust the Hooks for the cargo net under the rear seats. No more noise for my car at all.
The following is from post #751. For the Fram #, you can check their catalog in the store. I got my AC/Delco oil filters from Walmart.
***
I called AC/Delco and they told me that the 2001 Santa Fe 4 cyclinders and 6 cyclinders both use their part number PF-1127. I changed oil last night and the works fine. I thought my Chevy Astro Van had the easiest oil filter to change until I look at the Santa Fe. It is a piece of cake. Also, the oil pan bolt is a 17mm if anyone care. I was however, disappointed with the sharp edges on the oil filter mounting bracket and the nozzle that the oil filter screw on. They could have done a better job there.
The service manager told me it would be a good idea to use Hyundai filters to avoid any future warranty issues relating to other filters that may (or may not) cause damage.
I do realize he most likely said that to make a sale (and he did) but for a buck or two more, I have the original filter in my Santa Fe and that cannot be called into question by anyone.
Furthermore, the nice thing about Hyundai oil filters is that one size fits all... There is only one size (type) filter for all Hyundai model cars and trucks (SUVs)... Makes it nice when you go to buy one!

What happened to the T-H-C site? It's gone again, as of yesterday. It had been going great guns the last few weeks.
These clips do not have teeth to crimp down, so I super-glued them to the splash shield, after lining up the screw holes.
Works well.
Now if I can find a way to keep oil from accumulating in the splash pan and dripping out later. Very little clearance to force a rag in between there to mop it up.
My wife's main concern is the safety of the Santa Fe. I checked the Insurance Inst. web site and they had no crash test info yet. Any
info that would help convince my wife would be appreciated. Also
any advice on the Santa Fe be as the Highlander.
Thanks
Mike
the space between the air vents and the emergency buttons is missing in the design. I sent an email to wooddash.com where I bought my kit and ask them to supply the missing part. Please all of you who bought the kits send an email asking them to supply the missing piece. At a cost of $200 a kit they made huge profits and can afford to supply the missing piece fro free.
Please email them , the more who email the more likley we are to get the pieces free.
In my once over between the Escape/Tribute/Santa Fe I am leaning heavily to the SF-but if it is not "user friendly" I'll pass.....Tim
I like Santa Fe, so I just thought I'd add this positive press from a basically unbiased source - Consumer Reports.
Did they take the manual shift into account?
I find by starting using the manual shift it seems response(accelerate) faster than put in just in (D) mode.
Actually I did "Get set... Go!" in front of traffic light with so many SUV including Acura MDX, BMW X5, Tribute, Forester, Escape on the road, I always accelerate faster than them when started (I always use manual shifting when I raced with them.). I think On-road city driving the 1-2 seconds delay is not so important to me because simply there is no where in my city can allow me to start from 0-60mph in 10 seconds.
Is it the heavier body weight the less likly the roll over happened?
(There is an traffic accident happened 2 day ago in Vancouver, A light duty truck & a Rav4 hit each others, the RAV4 rolling-over several times on the road, the lady driver threw out of the car & killed instantly, is it because of the light weight contribute the roll-overs?
Anybody can answer my question?
It doesn't.
I bought a few today, and they are the wrong size.
Hopefully, Fram will correct their information.
Pls visit
http://www.crashtest.com/hyundai/ie.htm
But unlucky they still don't have the SF crash test report except its weight factor contribute to be EXCELENCE.
A dealer told me today that the Hyundai Central region rep personnelly told him that it could take up to 6 months to order out a Santa Fe. 6 MONTHS! And by the way one needed to place down $1000 to order out...
The rep also told the dealer that he should NOT order any V6 AWD for the foreseeable future, as in the last allocation shipment for the US central region their were 200 autos on the boat - only 90 of which were V6 AWD, and those had to be distributed amoung the 150 central US Hyundai dealers.
Seems like the production of the V6s are the issue, as they also have to be supplied to the other Hyundai car models.
Excuse me, but this seems to be an easy decision to make -- temporarily close one of the other model lines and concentrate on your best seller. As the saying goes "make hay when the sun is shining". This would be the time for Hyundai to really grab some market share AND SHINE.
Just when Hyundai gets a good thing going, they are going to chop off their nose, in spite of their face....hey by late summer / early fall Honda will have their redesigned CRV out, as well as Saturn's mini-SUV.
I really wanted a SF and still do -- but I am quite frustrated with the whole thing, and may be forced to consider the Escape (now that the recalls are done) or Forester.
Does anyone know if us 'common' folk can talk directly to the Hyundai reps,...where are they located?....where is their office? Maybe if enough people could write, email, or call...
So if anyone can tell me where the V6 AWDs are sitting in the US, please pass on to us folks in the upper Midwest.
Thanks.
I am wanting the 2WD in V6 and you want to talk about a hassle to find. My advice is just to go to
www.hyundaiusa.com and do their dealor locator for areas you are comfortable making the effort to go, and then just call. The people in Chicago all had orders due in about week( or so they said). You could have them look for what you want and see if it would happen to be coming in on their shippment, or even luckier they could have what you want in stock.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
Kim
"Hi, MrTwix,
Thank you for your email regarding the "missing" piece for your Hyundai
Santa Fe dash. We have brought this to the attention of the manufacturer
that there is interest for this additional piece, whether or not they
redesign their dash, I don't know. We are a distributor and we do not do
the research and development for the design of the dash kits that we
distribute. You had mentioned that you had compared the dash that you
purchased with some others that are offered by other companies and found
that the pieces offered are not the same. I think you will find that to be
true on almost every dash on the market, not just the Santa Fe--dash
overlay coverage varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. We appreciate
the time that you took to communicate with us."
So, basically, they are saying, "Don't hold your breath."
Hope this helps!
MrTwix
Several replies would be appreciated. Thanks. :-)
Funny but I still haven't had the Santa Fe sit still long enough to install the dash kit! Then again I haven't seen all that much of my wife since she got it for that matter.
Thanks for the heads up and I think someone else mentioned the same thing awhile back. I'll drop them an e-mail today and see what's up with that. You're correct, that's an awful lot of money to spend for something that doesn't messure up!
I notice the Mr Twix has done the same and gotten the short end of the stick, so I guess if nothing else I'll join him and start collecting short sticks. Maybe I can make the damn piece from that?
Possibly we should find out WHO does manufacture the dash and blast them about it?
Thanks,
Richard.
Their email address is bitrim.com send them an email
If yes, please let's know how it look/post pictures to show us.
Appreciate!
It makes the current SF owners feel their SF more unique on the road & make SF re-sale value go up (because when demand is high, then people will likely to pay more for a 2nd hand SF, if they can't wait & don't mind a used one.) I think it is what each SF owner wants to happen, right? At the same time, Hyundai's may sell SF for more $$$ in the future!
I don't think they worry about the new CR-V & new Highlander & new Forester coming soon. The reason is simply - the 3 Janpanese Musketeers (Toyota, Honda & Subaru) will never never beat Hyundai's SF price, the better the performance, style & well equipped new SUV will definitely asking for more $$$!
It is my opinion!
What do U think?
Steve
About availability in getting one: If you're willing to travel, go to Portland, Oregon where they are imported to. We bought ours from Thomason Hyundai. See their inventory at Thomason.com Their internet sales department was spectular.
We have had zero problems. Suggest Hyundai add a light in the cargo area that activates when the back hatch is opened.
We're looking for a after market trailer hitch. Anybody add one using an internet supplier?
As a result, as you have suggested, I have sent an email to the President of BITRIM Manufacturing, expressing my future desire to purchase the wood trim kit for a SF, but also expressing my disappointment of a part missing from its design. I stressed that I would expect more of a 'complete' look when purchasing that sort of accessory.
I asked for a reply regarding what course of action BITRIM was going to take I will post the reply once I receive it.
I would encourage others to do the same at www.bitrim.com. At the site, you can send email directly to the General Manager or President.
Good Luck to All!
The Hyundai hitch sold by the dealers is made by SureFit. Not a well known name.
Draw Tite makes a hitch, Model DT 41543, that fits the Santa Fe like a glove. The only part you see is the receiver box. The rest of the hitch is up behind the bumper. It will take 3,500 lbs, well beyond the towing capacity of the Santa Fe.
It is a bolt on job, no drilling, etc., as the kit includes replacement bolts for the ones you remove. You will have to loosen the spare tire and make certain it is all the way forward, and you have to unhook the muffler's two rubber mounts from their hooks, so you can put the hitch in place. Then retighten the spare bracket and hook the muffler rubber mounts back onto their hooks. Done, except for wiring the light harness.
Wiring the light harness requires that you get behind the side panel below the left side rear
panel window. You cannot access the brake and turn wiring from underneath the vehicle.
There are shipping tie down hooks on each side of the rear end bolted to the subframe where the ends of the hitch are bolted. I chose to leave these off as they serve no purpose beyond shipping and are just extra weight to lug around.
If you ever need to be pulled out of a ditch, etc.,just hook onto the hitch.
Hope this helps! Good luck.
I thought they may have made a mistake but they have not changed the rate from $580.
I live in Florida and only drive about 9000 miles a year, and we live in a suburban area.
I have no idea why my insurance dropped but I am happy with it.
