The only significance of the earlier special editions was that they had leather interior, while other Accords did not. now lether is an otpion avaialble every year.
Automobilemag.com posted a pic of the Sport4 concept and refered to it as the European Accord and Acura TSX (as the TSX today is the European Accord). It makes sense in keeping with the recent Honda and Toyota theme of making their premium brands (Acura and Lexus) have nice, refined, styling and their bread and better look ugly.
"It makes sense in keeping with the recent Honda and Toyota theme of making their premium brands (Acura and Lexus) have nice, refined, styling and their bread and better look ugly."
Funny....I think Toyota's bread and butter car(the 07 Camry) looks better than the current ES in my opinion.
I hope the 08 Accord 4dr don;t look conservative like the 06 Civic 4dr. I hope the Accord has more in common with 06 Civic Coupe or maybe the Acura TSX than the Civic Sedan in terms of exterior styling DNA.
It's your choice. Do you need to buy an Accord NOW? If so, your only choice is the seasoned 2007 model, in its fifth year of production of the seventh-generation of Accords.
If you can wait a minimum of another whole year, the 2008's, the first year of production of the eighth-generation Accords will be available. As with any first year model, expect some growing pains.
Its anyone's guess, except the top brass at Honda in Japan. If you need four doors, that's choice A. If you can survive with two doors, there will probably be a coupe, based upon Honda's last couple of generations, that's choice B.
You hit it on the head with the word "rumored". Anything other than the two models is pure wild-eyed (notice that I only wrote eyed)speculation at this point in time.
"If you can wait a minimum of another whole year, the 2008's, the first year of production of the eighth-generation Accords will be available. As with any first year model, expect some growing pains."
Yeah always wait for the 2nd or 3rd year of bodystyle this way the bugs get worked out of the car. The 1st year of bodystyle you have to deal with recalls and other things that fail that don;t fail if you wait until a 2nd or 3rd year of bodystyle. The 03 Accord's were notorious for brake rotor problems. I think Honda fixed that issue with the 04 model. There was also rattling/popping noises with the 03-04 Accords and maybe some 05's that I heard about on this particular site.
Comsumer Reports had an article in one of their magazines(the "New Car Preview for 2006 models" in October or November of 05 on page 3 I believe)on comparing reliability problems with cars in their first year of bodystyle vs their 2nd and 3rd year of bodystyle. There were alot of cars that had alot issues in their 1st year of bodystyle but these issues declined dramitically in their 2nd year of bodystyle.
I appreciate your advice. In fact, having just run an errand in our '04 Civic EX sedan, I was thinking maybe I should't be hasty to get rid of such a great car. So, maybe I'll keep the Civic a bit longer and wait for the second or third year of the new Accord model - if I can squelch new-car-itis!
Well, you can always wait for the 2008 Accord to come out and decide if you like it a lot, and if you don't, get a screaming deal on a leftover 2007 next July/August/September.
Here is some info on the 2008 Accord that may help. The Accord will be considerably bigger next year. It will be similar in size to the Toyota Avalon and will make room for a new Honda sedan coming soon that will be slotted in between the Accord and Civic.( Rumored to be new next generation of the TSX )
Will this be a Honda version of TSX...meaning cloth seats available (I don't like leather). Current accord is too ugly for me to consider and I would not want a bigger vehicle, but a vehicle that looks like the TSX would be something I would consider.
Is there still going to be a next generation 08 Accord Coupe if the next generation Accord is the size of the Avalon or is Honda just going to slot the the TSX into the Honda line-up where the accord is now?
I wonder how loyal Honda buyers will get used to the next generation not being Honda's mid-size car anymore amd having the TSX being Honda's new mid-size car.
In regards to the TSX the current one is too small for my tastes and the styling needs to be a little more sporty in my opinion ala like 04+ TL.
I have a very hard time imagining Honda taking their bread and butter car up a whole size to match an Avalon. Bigger is more expensive, so their costs would go up, yet they would still be competing against Camry and other midsizers. Do that many people turn down Accords because they are too small? Also, trying to slot a car between the Civic and the Accord seems like a bad idea as well. None of this makes sense. They are doing very well right now with a LONG established line-up. Making the changes others have said they will, would mean deviating from a very successful course. I don't think they're gonna do it.
There is no way Honda is going to inflate the size of the of the Accord to match the Avalon. In today's climate of high gas prices, that is just not going to happen.
where did you hear that prelude is coming back?it will be awesome.I heard that this is the last year for Honda S2000.next year S2000 or what ever its replacment will be atleast 320hp or more and will be competing with 2007-08 nissan skyline GT-R.And the new Acura nsx V10 will be attacking aston martin and ferrari.they might make tsx coupe next year too to replace current rsx and it will have s2000 engine or something similar.the new TL type-S will have more than 300hp and and may be all wheel drive SH.
A few of my friends who are in 'PCA' (Prelude Club of America) got notice that there is a potential for a new Prelude model to fit in between the Civic and the Accord. This is the information that I passed along, so we just need to wait and see.
Every generation of the Accord (and most cars for that matter) get bigger--especially the interior--with better engineering/advancements in design, etc. So I bet the interior will be slightly bigger, and the exterior only slightly bigger, if at all
My 1994 Accord EX coupe has 230,000 (first year of production on that style, too!). I'd love to wait for a 2008. Maybe it will be a summer arrival--a little ahead of the traditional Fall arrival.
Also, some of the upcoming auto shows (starting with LA this week) may have the new Accord!!
Honda has a long history of being very tight-lipped about future models. You can be assured that they won't be showing the 2008 Accord at any of this winter/spring auto shows.
Completely agree here... I LOVED my 2004 Accord EX V6, but traded (to appease my wife ) for an '05 Odyssey EXL-RES... I like the van (note, "like" vs. "love"), but don't love it due to too many freakin' ANNOYING vibrations coming from the VCM system... anyway, I've digressed... :P
I also own an '04 Civic that I will probably give to my daughter... but I too, am waiting to see what the new '08 Accord looks like... depending on how it looks (I don't care too much for the '06-'07 back end), that will likely help me decide between the new Accord or the new Camry... I looked at the new Saturn Aura today, and it's actually gorgeous on the inside and out... but with Saturn's problems over the last few years, I don't think I'm ready to plunk down Accord or Camry money for a Saturn... I have to admit, though, I hope the new Accord comes out looking either TL-ish or like the Aura (European-ish), or perhaps some sort of blend (as the concept drawings may lead us to believe or hope...)
Edmunds has a sketch of the accord coupe concept! Reminds me of the CL type-s in the rear. Its ok but I do give honda KUDOS on this one!! It actually looks sporty!
It very well may be a full sized sedan, but that leaves a huge gap in their lineup. Civic is 91 cubic ft. then Accord would be 107 (it it is Avalon sized). That is a huge difference. For comparison, Mazda6 and Passat are about 97.
I wonder if Honda will get a version of the TSX (euroaccord) or something similar to bridge the gap? I would love to see a stretched Civic with the 2.0 or 2.2 liter engine that got great mileage but had a skosh more room.
hey every body,2008 honda Accord coupe is on,at www.insideline.com,in right upper corner under latest news.this thing is sweet and hot as hell with Quad exuast.this car will be on at detroit auot show. This Accord is going to put shame on a lot of junky cars, specially, camry,Altima, maxima and 3-series bmw and hyndia crap
I'd hardly call those other vehicles "junky," given that they sell a lot of 'em for a reason, but the new Accord Coupe could provide competition.

Stunning automobiles! The accord will get the 3.5 and the 2.4. Maybe they will be the new V-Tec. Wondering if the o8 will get the 4 cyl diesel? The v6 diesel is for the larger vehicles. Stunning design! Camry is gone in 60 seconds!
Come Now! ,camry,Altima, maxima and 3-series are all cars people would rather buy than Accord. The New Altima looks great-It'll take alot for Honda to beat that, or the new Avalon, or Maxima. I'm not sayin' thay can't do it- all they have to do is stretch a civic. And why do you compare to 3 series? Not only are they in 2 diff. classes, Honda pales in comparison. ANd i Know the new Accord will be the same size as Camry. There's nothing to fill in that Accord space- and no full size need. After Accord, people go up to TL's and RL's.
I think there is a better chance of winning lotto than for this to be the new accord. It looks to sporty. This could be a sketch of the 2008/9 Acura CL. The real lights say alot too! oh and the Prelude. Thats a classic name and honda won't just ignore it! Still a natural evolution.
Imo, tooo sporty for the lovable accord. Perfect for prelude or CL which in honda/acura's case(s), aren't bad choices. They both need sport coupes on the 335i and Rx-8 level! In fact, a convertible won't be bad either. Oh and SH-AWD or ATTS. Almost forgot about the 3.7l v6. OH OH, the 07 TL-s rims but thats just plain being greedy... :P
where you from,A Cave?go on www.honda.com then click on honda on upper left corner and theb click on future models at lower right corner.2008 honda accord coupe is there.fcx and accord are two tottaly different cars.
I am a Honda fan, and considering the Accord, but the Altima is impressive in many ways. 175 hp with 26/35 mpg is better than the Accord on both counts.
Unfortunately the stupid sloping roof means there is no head room at all in back - I have to turn my head sideways and my ears literally hit the roof. The Accord has just enough headroom in the back for me.
My biggest worry with the new Accord is that it use more gas in the MT version (just like the Civic despite claims of better efficiency) and will lose space due to styling (like the Altima).
The Altima has beemn criticized for cheap looking interiors. I also think any car with a four cylinder engine shoulddo better than 29 mpg. Altima has not changed since it came on the market. I own an Accord and we have an Avalon and an old Camry (97). I might bre persuaded to look at a new Sentra but would rank Civic first and Corolla 2nd after they revise it my first choice would be an 08 Accord built like anm Anavalon and with a very good ride
That's what I been thinking but some media outlets have said it will be the 2009 model year. Has there been any official word from Honda that it will be the 2008 model year?
the new 2008 Accord should be available at the dealer ships in fall 2007.around september.new accords always come in fall for the next year in the past too.I dont know how you consider Altima is better in many ways.i dont knoe exact miles MPG on new Accord.but it should be about same that you mention in your coments.I think accord horse power is 166hp and i am sure its more zippy than Altima.Dont get fool by honda's horse power numbers because honda is the only car maker who have the fastest 4 banger with out Turbo or supercharge.Despite that fact honda"s 4 banger kick [non-permissible content removed] alot of cars with turbo and supercharge or V6 and v8.Few examples are Honda civic SI,Acura Integra type-R,Honda S2000 etc.Honda S2000 make more HP per liter than Ferrari.I Drive 1994 honda Accord with 243000 miles on it.It has 145HP and still get better numbers than brand new Altima, you mention and I drive 1989 Honda Accord with 364000K on it.IT still runs good and give me more than 35MPG.IF you get a chance,go to www.hondabeat.com and click on "high mileage" club on your left side of the page. These honda's go for ever too.I wont buy any thing but honda or Acura. The good thing about these cars are you can abuse the hell out of them and they still run good. There was a guy who had the old honda civic with more than 300k on his car and car wont quit on him.he wanted to bust his engine on purpose so he can get the new engine from his dad.so he put the cooking oil in the engine and car still ran for quite a while before dying on him.Did you see the new 2008 accord coupe yet at honda.com?I think you should. Its pretty sweet.I think its worth wait.I heard that it will have some latest technologies too,I heard it will have computer screens in the back seat for passengers,so the can monitor the torque and other stuff about car,the whole purpose for that is,so every body has information about the car.good luck.
Personally i think ahsanman99 is referring to mpg when stating the "better numbers". He did say 35mpg.
I was going to say that the accord weighs less but then the altima weighs about 100lbs less. Then i was going to say that the CVT in the nissan will mess it up but then i forgot about the 6speed manual. So forget i said anything in this part .
Well, i guess he could use your 4cyl accord's 44mpg example but then its not his numbers ... So i guess more info is in order.
