We're waiting on carbon dating results for isell's age.

I was going to say something like that but I'm a nice guy plus I knew 'isell' would never speak to me again. :shades:

Yeah, that was fixed. It was on a few of the early 05's. I've been selling Toyotas since 1997 and driving them since 1981.

Thank you. Anything you need to help you sell more cars let me know.
My nurse just came home and disconnected my pump. You don't know what a relief that is! It's not painful or anything like that. I just feel like a prisoner at home for three days. Now is into the shower and get ready to go to work. I'm not feeling any bad side effects today except for a small case of the hiccups but those go away in a day so not too bad. I'll let you guys know more about the hair loss in the next week or two to see if I have to sport the Joel Look!

Nice looking wheels. "Car and Driver" and "Hot Rod" magazines were pretty high on the T-type when it was first introduced.

    That's it!

Except mine doesn't have those ugly wheels the first shot has and it doesn't have the goofy stripes on the second one.

    That's my interior exactly.

Nothing really special but it's unique and a lot of people have never seen one.

They come with a low restriction exhaust that has a nice growl to it.

I remember one night coming home from Eastern Washington, a 5 series BMW took me on and we had quite a time until he backed down. He couldnt' catch me.

Appreciate the effort and good luck with your treatments. You WILL beat this crap!!

So, what I hear you saying is...you have a composite. That's not very valuable is it? :confuse:

Pretty much. On used cars it makes sense to have a small pack, maybe 300-500 dollars, to cover come backs and soften the blow of wholesale losses but on new cars it is just to cut the salesman out of more money.

Here (and most stores) pack is used in part to write down hanger queens. But our pack is nothing like BRs.
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
    "hanger queens" ????

    is what, or... are whom?
  • lrguy44lrguy44 Member Posts: 2,197
Old Navy term for planes that were down for parts and parked in the hanger for a long time. In the car context, a car that has been on the lot a long time (90 days or more).

I'm guessing hanger queens are the ones that hang around for a long time and chew up a lot of floor plan and need a big discount to move.

But, I still consider that overhead and part of SG&A and I still think "payable gross" is BS. Gross is sales less direct cost of product. They should just pay you on gross or come clean and say they pay you on some hybrid number that's has G&A deducted from it.
  • lrguy44lrguy44 Member Posts: 2,197
We are paid on gross minus pack. Gross is Selling - cost - pack. That is the way it is, has been, and always will be.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Oh I agree and I said the same to upper management here. The way the current pay plan works it is deceptive. It makes it look like you are getting a much larger potential commission then you really are. You can't just look at the pay plan breakdown sheet and easily figure out in your head about what you would make on a sale. You first have to back out the percent of invoice for the car and that stays the same even if there is 10,000 dollars of give back on the car.

For example Service loaner LR3s might have as much as 10,400 dollars of money from Land Rover effectively reducing the invoice by that much money. The pack is still figured on the higher number.

Huh. I was a Navy Airdale, was even on a flight crew for a couple years and I never heard of that term. Sometimes we said AP (awaiting parts) but most of the time we just said it was down. Everyone knew what that meant.

Were you in the US Navy ? :shades:

Now I see why they are automatic minis. Theoretically, you would end up paying them as payable gross can be easily negative in those situations.

You got all the stuff right Din001.

But for the sake of simplicity I used the word platform. It is is not wrong to actually say that the Mazda6 was the test bench for the Ford Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Mercury Milan. All these have extensively used the Mazda6 components (and lessons learned) as well as the platform. Also the V6 engine and the I4 engine. as far as the Six speed, it is very much on the Mazda6 V6. It was introduced last year in and around with the ford Fusion.

In fact, I remember a article where it said "Master learns from Student" referring to Ford learning from Mazda on how to make small cars that are good.

We use that term in civilian Aircraft maintenance too. Especially if the plane is up on jacks for a long time.

I go off for the day, come back, and find you trying to schedule a departure date from planet Earth? Let me tell you something. The Devil doesn't want you because you're not mean enough. The good Lord doesn't want you because he feels sorry for Toyota and needs for you to remain its biggest promoter. If these two places are not an option, where in the hell do you think that you are going? No more of that talk or I'll do more than correct your grammar. Don't forget, I can drive to Virginia Beach in 5 hours. :D

Mac, thanks for those pics. Memories, memories. I bought my wife a brand new 1977 Lesabre. Metallic baby blue with blue velour. I am sure some of you remember that color. Great car that I practically gave away two years later when I traded it on a new 1979 4-door Accord.

Keep your chin up. That chemo will just be like a minor operation. A minor operation being defined as any operation performed on someone else!! :)

" Anyone getting a Hyundai dealer franchise now is in a position to be where Toyota dealers are now in 5 or 10 years."

yes and no. you will have to put up with some negatives like how hyundai usa is run. That is the primary reason the owner of the dealership i work for is giving the franchise back. The cars are great, just not enough dealer support.
  • chikoochikoo Member Posts: 3,008
what other makes does your dealership carry?
  • joel0622joel0622 Member Posts: 3,299
How do you just give a franchise back. It has to have some value. I know a Ford sign is worth a million.
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
but in too much, as I am just a consumer, but the point about the Hyundai store is dead on.

The biggest deterrent to buying a Hyundai for me (in Loudoun County, Northern Virginia) is the lack of quality dealerships for which to even shop.

The only real quality dealer around is Fitzgerald. My local dealership would be an Easterns Franchise---avoid like the plague. There's no way I'd either buy a car or even have one serviced there. Other than that, you've got to travel to Alexandria or Manassas. The Alexandria dealer is also SKETCHY. I wouldn't want to be dealing with them for service.

Pretty much every brand on the planet is represented in the shoppers mecca that is Tysons Corner. One of the largest retail spots in the entire country, with its own "Automile" type of thing to boot. Lots of high end stuff, too. But no Hyundai.

So regardless of the product, Hyundai needs to do something about these low quality dealerships.

I did the recommended installer last time since it's just down the street from my house. However, they pissed me off. He charged me more than the price listed on the website and then called me a liar when he said "How do I know you really bought the tires from Tire Rack.?" that's when the s..t hit the rotating blade. How could he be so stupid to say that when the tires were in the trunk and still had my name and address and Tire Rack's wrapped around a pair of tires? He offered a "free oil change" or a credit on my next service. "Nope, credit my check card back." he finally did and as soon as I got home I posted a review on Tire Racks website. Will never do business with that Merchant but continue with Tire Rack. I don't know what came over me since I always do the mounting and balancing at work for $25.00 bucks. This was supposed to be $40.00 so I figured since I was off and my son needed his car we went ahead and did it. I could have waited till the next day and saved myself some aggravation. Oh well, lesson learned.

Yeah, I like Tire Rack as well. Service and prices are top notch! But I have noticed that the prices posted by recommended installers is all over the map. It would lead to some lowballing and funny stuff as you have experienced. I had them done for 10 bucks a tire. Tire Rack shipped the tires to the store. They tried to upsell alignment and a bunch of other stuff.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
    Like nitrogen for $150?

I would consider an alignment as its recommended when changing tires makes sense as its a considerable investment in those tires compared to the $50 for the alignment.

    :D:D

I would have had the alignment done, but instead of agreeing up front, I told them to put it up the rack and check the specs first. Turns out no alignment was needed :) Let with a $45 mount and balance. Not bad.

Ok, it's been a couple weeks since my last posting. A lot of things have happened. I finished up at Nissan with 22.5 and salesperson of the month. I gave my notice on the first. My manager wasn't happy, but what are you going to do. He should be happy for me.

I took a week off and then my grandmother died. I had to postpone starting at Porsche to attend to that matter. It was good to say goodbye to her in PA. She was 88 and lived an awesome life.

So I started a couple days ago at Porsche. I've been test driving the vehicles and learning the product. I have to say, I think this is the greatest opportunity that I've ever stumbled upon. The product is top notch. The dealership is incredible. The sales guys are very friendly. AND, I went 125 mph in a Carrera 4S before I even knew what was going on. Whenever you get out of a Porsche, you have a silly smile on your face. It's awesome!

I'll keep you up to date with some stories as I begin to meet people. My GM wants me to keep learning the product before I jump into the meeting people. It has only been 3 days, so I can understand. I'll keep you posted!
