Deskman, I'll certainly accomodate as best as I can. Seriously, a Volvo? Make her happy, but what about the Panamera that's coming out soon? Why not put in an order on something like that? Or purchase the Targa first and then trade in on a Panamera?

So as I'm getting ready to leave the dealership I go by the receptionist and ask her to clock me out. I't about 6pm and I'm wore out.
"Ok, which car do you want to buy?" I ask him. "We want to look at a Rav4, a Highlander and an 07 4Runner if you have them." he replies. I look around for another person and don't see anyone. "We? someone else with you?" I ask. "My wife, she's in the bathroom." he replies as his wife is walking toward us. "Hi! I'm Mack. It's a pleasure to meet you." She is friendlier than her husband and replies "Hi, I'm Janey. Nice to meet you too."
Since he has told me they want to look at three cars I quickly start my qualifying questions to narrow it down to one. Usuallly when a customer wants to look at three cars they really aren't sure what they want.
"Janey, will this vehicle be for you or is your husband going to drive it too.?" I ask. "It's for both of us. We have a Highlander now and both of us drive it." she replies. "How do you like your Highlander?" I ask. "I love it. We think it's time for a new one since we always trade after the 36k mile warranty is up." she responds. "Do you lease or buy your vehicles?" I ask. "We buy them but this time we are thinking of leasing." Janey replies. "I would recommend leasing to you if you only drive 12k miles per year and trade every three years." I tell her.
We are walking towards the suv section and stop to look at a Highlander Limited. He tells me he must have leather as their Highlander is also a LTD but an 05. I open the vehicle up and start showing them the differences between the new one and theirs. He abruptly stops me and tells me he doesn't like it. However Janey is in love with the vehicle. I sense their is going to be some battle brewing between them as far as which vehicle they will buy.
We walk a few feet to the 4runners and he looks at a Sport in the Shadow mica color which is sort of a dark green mixed with black and metallic. Very unusual but good looking. He tells me: "If you have a Limited in this color we'll buy it right now!"
(I've heard this before too so I don't get too excited.)
"Before we go all over the lot lets go inside so I can look up our inventory and see what I have in stock." I tell them.
We walk back to the showroom and I sit them down at a table and ask them if they would like something to drink. He say no and Janey asks for some water. I go to the vending machines and get her a bottle of water. Then I go to the sales tower to check inventory.............................TO BE CONTINUED......

Yes, that is happening to me as well. Was doing it all yesterday. I tried 'catching me up', which didn't seem to help. I even went so far as to un-track this forum, then add it back, and went to the end and 'catched up' again. I don't think that did anything either
"I prefer the V6 due to gas mileage." he responds. I tell him; "It's only a couple of miles difference and you get a lot more torque with the V8 in case you want to tow a trailer or a boat. Reason I asked was I only have one Limited in stock and it's Titanium silver. If you want the shadow mica I would have to do a locate and if there is one close by I can have it here tomorrow."
I tell him. "Let's look at it, we've had silver cars before but we prefer dark colors." he responds.
We walk out to the front of the showroom where there's more 4runners. We find the silver Limited and I open it up and move it away from the others so they get a good look at it. It's loaded with just about every option and stickers just a tad over 43k. He looks at the price and says "That's no big deal. We can afford it. We could buy a Landcruiser if we wanted to."
We drive it up to the front as I go get my dealer tag. I take my time so that they can look it over and begin falling in love with it.
When I go out I get in the back seat and we head out for a test drive. We don't go far as he tells me they've had 11 Toyotas so he knows it's going to drive fine and makes a u-turn back to the dealership. Before we park I ask if they will be trading the 05 Highlander in. "Yes, but I want to work the deal without the trade and see what price you guys come up with. We've done our research and know what our Highlander is worth. And we want to lease for 39 months." he tells me. "39 months?., why 39 and not 36 or 48?" I ask. "I just like that number." he replies. "I understand. We have some customers that if we issue plates with numbers that add up to some sum they won't take them."
"That's strange" he responds. I sit them down at a table and start getting some info to put in our data system. I ask for their home phone, last name, and first name. He finally tells me his name is Johnny and as I hit the enter key his e-mail phone number and address pop up. "I noticed you contacted our internet department a few weeks back."
I put in the stock number of the vehicle in question and print a deal sheet. Before I go to the NCM and tell him to work me up a deal for a 39 month lease I ask Johnny how much will they be putting down. "Nothing." he tells me. "Usually we require at least your first payment, taxes, fees, and title and registration." I reply. "How much is the first payment?" he asks.
"Normally we put $2500 down on every vehicle we have leased or purchase so let's use that same number." he replies.
I go to the NCM and tell him our customer wants to lease the 4runner for 39 months, "39 months!" says NCM "why 39 months?" he asks. "Because he likes that number. Heck I don't know he's a little retentive." I tell him. NCM looks up residual values and is confused as we don't do 39 month leases thru TFS, he asks one of the finance managers about it and they "guesstimate" I see they are struggling so I tell them; "I'm going to break his pattern of leasing for 39 months. Show me 36 and 48 and watch how confused he gets."...............TO BE CONTINUED..............
