I only have the V3c for Verizon and Alltel. I am assuming the software for US Cellular is the same as Alltel. If so, get the handsfree system ready to receive a contact (operation depends on which handsfree system you have: Navigation / JBL Audio). Once the car is waiting for a contact: 1. Select “Menu” 2. Select “Address Book” 3. Highlight any entry you wish to transfer 4. Select Options 5. Scroll to "Share Phonebook Entry" and Select 6. Select “Look for Devices” 7. Select "Handsfree"
OMG!!! I have a bridge to sell you . . . Do not ever listen to them. I got one US Cell rep to say that they are not even trained that well. Bluetooth is Bluetooth!!! Funny how Toyota advertises Cingluar & Verizon work 100%. Makes me wonder what kickback Toyota gets.
my sprint phone does not have bluetooth, i purchased an adapter, the cardo bta II. when i try to pair it with the camry it asks for a code, i cannot input the code from my cell phone, any reason or is there a way around this... thanks
LOL - DO NOT sell me anymore. A new car and a new cell plan is enough! Funny, this rep was on letstalk.com. He was selling both US Cell and TMobile. We had no choice but to listen because we do not have the knowledge, unfortunately. Anyway, our Moto V360 will be here next week. It's almost a done deal.
NOW you tell me. Where were you 2 days ago?? The rep was the only information I could depend on because I did not have any knowledge. And, he was on letstalk.com selling all the cell providers plans. I figured he could be trusted because he wasn't working for just one single cell phone co. So, a MOTO V360 is enroute, being delivered next week. I have the navigation. Don't leave me LOL. I may need you when I get my car in...hopefully mid-July.
I have never tried the Cardo BTA II, but I have a suggestion that may work. If you can change the passkey on the car's handsfree system to whatever the default passkey on the adapter is (probably 0000), it might work. If you can tell me which handsfree system you have (navigation or JBL Audio) I can help you change the passkey.
Just got the Nokia 6102i for my (non-nav) 2007 XLE Camry. Haven't tried to pair it yet, but just wondered if anyone has any experience with this phone. Hoping you'll be able to help me stay sane during the entire process. My carrier is Cingular.
Just read the comment that when you go over 5mph, the cell phone cuts off. Way too funny.
Take a demo car out and show the IDIOT salesman how well it works. You do not have to own the cell phone or the car to test program it and make phone calls.
I love my blutooth in my 07 Camry, using Cingular RAZR.
I agree with your comment....way too funny!! I am also using a my bluetooth with a Cingular RAZR. Generally works great. I have, however, had a couple of issues when the bluetooth just cuts out. Either the bluetooth all together just disconnects or I lose the "sound". A call can connect but I don't hear anything. Also when this happens, when I press the talk button, I don't hear the usual beep that prompts you to speak.
I was wondering if you have had any of the same problems. The service dept at the dealership where I bought the car doesn't have a clue about bluetooth..all new to them. I have the JBL and also have the satellite radio installed. These problems seemed to occut after that was installed.
I don't believe the 2125 will properly transfer phonebook entries consistently. It depends on how the phone stores numbers to the memory. If it automatically places parentheses around the area code, the handsfree system will reject this number. If you can manually delete the parentheses, or trick the smart phone by changing your country code or something, it should work. This is true for most smart phone devices.
"Search This Discussion" turns up 21 posts (well, this will be 22 ) using Treo 650. You might look through them and the answers and see if you find anything helpful.
i have the jbl audio system. so you are saying that the adapter has an actual passkey. i did not know that, i remember someone posting how to change the passkey, but your reply would be much appreciated. thank you!
using the voice recognitions (Push the Talk switch on the steering wheel), say the following commands: "Setup" -> "Phone Setup" -> "Set Passkey". At this point, try entering the default passkey of the adapter (probably 0000 or 1111).
now, when i push the talk switch it doesnt respond to me saying "setup", "phone setup" or "set passkey" in any order, what am i doing wrong? sorry for the low level of understanding...
Is there a trick to this? The phone is linked, I can make and receive calls, but my handset phonebook is not recognized by the nice lady under the dash.
The phonebook in your phone is not directly accessible by the car system. You have to transfer the phonebook or individual entries from the phonebook before you can use them.
Yes, you understood...so by transfer you mean I have to manually enter them into the car system? I want to send the entire phonebook to the car system at once, or at least be able to do it one at a time, so I don't have to spend all that time redoing everything.
ok, i am feeling pretty stupid now. the book even tells me how to do it. The problem is after I press the talk button it asks me to name the phone, i said setup and everything else but it still just gives me the option of naming the phone. I named the phone "setup" a million times. so right now i have two options 1. name the phone 2. pair the phone, and that is all it is allowing me to do. frustrating.
I finally got to the bottom of this issue. Verizon customers: If you want to transfer your phonebook electronically, you must have a PDA-type phone. See message from Verizon below. ** Thank you for contacting our Verizon Wireless website. We are happy to assist you with your OBEX question.
We apologize for any confusion. The agreements we have with our Get It Now content providers preclude our allowing anyone to download applications beyond the phone. It is for this reason that none of our Get It Now enabled Bluetooth capable handsets have Bluetooth Object Exchange (OBEX) or file transfer capabilities enabled. Only our PDA-based handsets such as the XV6700, Treo 700w/700p, Motorola Q, etc. have OBEX enabled.
Ahhh... I think I see what the issue is. You can not change the passkey until you have paired at least one phone. The system will force you into this process (record a name) if you have not already paired a phone. After you pair the phone by following the voice commands and steps on the phone, then you will be able to use all of the setup commands. Unfortunately for you, this can not be done with the adapter that you have. Perhaps you can borrow someone else's phone to complete the initial pairing, then go in and change the passkey and try to pair your adapter.
Hello all. I've been lurking in this thread since its inception and appreciate all those who've posted here (particularly bluetoothguy!). While I have yet to purchase a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone to use with my new 2007 Camry XLE V6, I've learned quite a bit here.
My current cell phone plan is with Sprint. I dropped by one of their stores the other day and the salesperson directed me to their LG LX-350 cell phone. It's Bluetooth-enabled and a pretty handsome looking phone. I really liked it but knew I'd have to check back here before purchasing it.
So, the obvious question is: Has anyone had experience with the LG LX-350 and their 2007 Camry? If so, how well does it work? Thanks!
The LG LX-350 does not currently support phonebook transfer to the Camry handsfree system. The signal strength indication will not appear on the handsfree display. Also, you will not be able to reject an incoming call from the steering wheel controls (Basically it will keep ringing until you either answer the call, or it gets transferred to your voicemail). Other than that, the basic calling features should be pretty solid.
Okay, I can get my Verizon RAZR V3M to work, but I have to go into the phone and the Nav screen and "connect" them every time I get in the car. I though there was a way to set them both up so that this happened automatically whenever I got in the car without my having to futz with phone or car? Am I mistaken?
On the same Nav screen, there should be a button for "Auto Connect" above the "Connect" button. Select this and it should illuminate a yellow indicator on the button. If that doesn't fix it, let me know and I will suggest a couple of other things.
That is a tough one. The new Sanyo "Katana" should work pretty well with your Toyota. It is your choice though for how you feel about the phone itself (keypad, flip, display, audio quality, etc).

I've been checking out the Sanyo "Katana" you suggested and it looks like a pretty good one, though very new (wonder if it'll have any bugs that need to be worked out). Pretty handsome looking phone, too.
bluetoothguy, also, what do you think of the Samsung A900 and the Samsung MM-A920? Have you heard good things about either/both of these phones?
I'm at a point where I'm ready to buy a bluetooth phone, but it's going to have to be through Sprint, unfortunately. I'm just trying to get the one that's the very best bluetooth phone, with the most compatibility with my 2007 Camry. Thanks!
The Sprint Samsung phones have some serious compatibility issues with the Toyota handsfree systems. There are certain annoyances that might make you stop using the system (like random ringing when there is no incoming call). This may be fixed with more recent software versions, but I can't speak to that for sure.
Is there an easy way to set the numbers you want on speed dial? I have been able to transfer my entire phone book with the click of a button but don't see a easy way to set a phone book entry as one of the speed dial numbers? What am I missing??? I have the Nav system if that makes a difference. Thanks!
From the phone screen, select "Settings" -> "Speed Dial" -> "Register", then choose the number you wish to program. I don't believe there is a way to program it directly from the phonebook.
I don't have the answer to your question, but have a question for you. What phone are you using? I have been reading the forums and this is the first time that I have seen that someone has successully transferred their phonebook. And, as well, is the phone otherwise working out well with the Camry handsfree system?
I have the cingular Sony/Ericsson W600i. It works great with the Camry. All contacts were transferred in a matter of seconds. Call quality has been very good. A couple of times I sat in the car in my garage while the phone was charging upstairs in the house and it still picked it up with a strong signal. For me, this is one of the best features of the Camry. There are a couple of threads on greenhybrid.com about bluetooth which you may want to follow. There are definitely other phones out there where you can do a phone book transfer.
A word of warning about Sony Ericsson phones: Some users have seem random occurrences when the phone will disconnect from the handsfree system. This is not on all Sony Ericsson phones. I believe there are some other comments in this discussion that mention this issue.
Hello: I have a 2006 BMW 330i and it transfers the phonebook entry of a paired cellphone automatically. If I add a phonebook entry to my cellphone, this new entry will be downloaded to the car's phonebook the next time I get it. I have paired 2 cellphones: a moto v600 and Sony T637 (both cingular). Can this be achieved in the latest 2007 Camry or Lexus 350. Can we scroll through the car's or cell phone'e phonebook entries through a buttonon the steering wheel ?
This phonebook transfer of the Camry / Lexus 350 is different from BMW. The phone's phonebook must be manually transferred to the vehicle's phonebook over Bluetooth. Not all phones support sending all phonebook contacts at once over bluetooth. Once the phonebook is transferred, the numbers can be recalled using the navigation screen or assigned voice-tags.
I was semi-successful transferring my phonebook from the Cingular 8125, so I thought I would share how I did it. I have the Nav-equipped Camry Hybrid...
The item that caused trouble was that my phone numbers on the phone are all formatted: xxx yyy zzzz (with no punctuation - just spaces). These numbers only transferred the area code in most instances. I had a number that was formatted like xxxyyyzzzzpp1244#2342 (this was a voicemail phone number with "p" for pauses). This one actually transferred correctly. It seems like you want the number to have no spaces (just the number) - but I had trouble reproducing this.
I tried editing one entry on my phone and re-sending it, but this one was cut off too.
What I ended up doing was going into my contacts list on the phone (I use Pocket Informant as my PIM application), selecting multiple entries, tap and hold on one of the selected contacts, and then choose "Beam". This brings up a screen that will search for bluetooth devices (along with IR - but we don't care about those).
Now go to the phone screen on the car, and pick the "Settings" button on the screen. Then pick phonebook. Then "start transfer". Pick a group. (If you already have entries in the car's phonebook, it will tell you this, and give you the option to overwrite or add to the phonebook - you should probably choose "Add to".) A screen will then tell you to initiate the transfer with the cell phone. Wait patiently. Look at the cell phone screen - it should find the bluetooth device in the camry (I renamed mine to "Camry" in the bluetooth setup). Tap this line item on the cell phone screen. It should say "pending", and then it will do the transfer within about 10-15 seconds.
You should see a note that the transfer was successful on the Nav screen.
After all of this, I went in and edited the phone numbers for each entry. It was a pain in the butt, but it worked. You might have better luck with cleanly formatted phone numbers.
One thing to note with the Windows Mobile phones: The phonebook application will typically put extra characters around the area code (parenthesis / spaces). These characters will be rejected by the handsfree system. One way to get all phonebook entries to transfer is to remove those characters. There are some ways of doing this automatically by changing the 'region' of the phone. If the phone thinks it is in Zimbabwe, it might not know that they use a three-digit area code. I am not sure if this will change the format of current phonebook entries, but it should stop inserting them for all future entries.
Comments
Once the car is waiting for a contact:
1. Select “Menu”
2. Select “Address Book”
3. Highlight any entry you wish to transfer
4. Select Options
5. Scroll to "Share Phonebook Entry" and Select
6. Select “Look for Devices”
7. Select "Handsfree"
thanks

I still can't get my Treo 650 to connect with my 2007 Camry.

thank you!
Or do I understand your question incorrectly?
Thanks.

I have a quick question for you, if you don't mind: If you HAD to choose one Bluetooth phone from Sprint's arsenal, which on would you select and why?
Thanks!

I will try this later with a new entry, but this is unfortunate, since this format makes the phone numbers harder to read on the mobile phone...
